Arle’s current look (featuring some eyes I bought from Dolpa). I’ve still not settled on a wig/eye combo I want to keep her with after all this time but at least she looks good in anything.

Time really got away from me! My trip to disneyland was super fun, and then i got swept up in moving to my new place and getting everything sorted.

I didn't get a lot of photos of arle at disneyland because i was mostly having fun with my friends, but there was some downtime and i was able to get some shots in the central plaza!

I was hoping to get some photos of her with snow white, but i didn't see her around the park the day i brought arle, and instead found her the next day in the other park 😅

So, she's a Volks sister Mayu head on a mini Dollfie Dream base 3 looks like a factory face up, wig isn't labeled, dress labeled Amors, assuming the socks and shoes came with it.

Now knowing what I know about custom doll people and having poked around the interwebs the cats in the tubes are asking if she's meant to be Arle Nadja from Madou Monogatari. (original sells out or is too expensive you piece together what you can get) Mostly because the two sculpts are very similar.

I get enough that she's supposed to be a magic girl and I'll leave it at that. I'm already wondering where some of the spare wigs are for her to try on. Got to see if Taffy is wearing one in particular that would change her outlook completely.

Under normal circumstances I would never ever pay Volks prices for a big doll.

These are the twins BTW, Taffy is on the left and looks less likely to kidnap your baby brother. Jareth was my sister's but he's mine now. They're Dollzone 70cm ogre toe versions, I think. That's their rock star frontman wig.

Was about to say I'll be damned if I can't find Taffy in the fluff, they have 3-4 blonde wigs, but I did. This one I definitely want to try on little miss MDD.

We're working on a name for her. Give her a break, she just got out of a thrift store that had no idea what she was and wanted more for a modern Licca just because she is in a wedding dress.

Fun story, last time I took one of the twins out I had someone go off on me about how thin my toddler was until they found out it was a doll, in a white bell bottom suit, wearing brothel creepers, and a curly black wig, and I was wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt.

Maybe I'll call her Sunshine or Splinkydoo. In all honesty this is the first used giant custom doll, I've gotten 1/6 scale before, that didn't have a character and specific sculpt in mind when I bought it.

The twins were a surprise contest prize but we'd settled on a Bowie vibe before they came.

So hit those thrift stores, keep an eye out, and know how to spot ABJD and Dollfie Dream/Smart Doll style elbow joints half a store away.

How in the h-e-double-fuck does MDD Arle look in any way like SmD Mirai?? Arle has one of the best MDD sculpts Volks has ever put out, meanwhile Mirai is probably the worst SmD sculpt. Arle has cheekbones, Mirai has a facial disk like a barn owl. And I actually like the both of them, but my god this Stretch Armstrong tier reaching.

Event report - Doll Show 53 part 2

Sorry for the wait on this! Now its time to look at everyone else’s dolls. Like most big doll conventions in Japan there are many bookable tables set aside to display ones dolls on and part of the fun is being able to walk around and look at them.  Even though Doll Show is an event for all dolls, DDs still dominated, so thats what most of the photos are of.

I’d seen this cute MDD on twitter before, and it was really cool to see her in person! Her owner was also really excited that I recognised her! More:

A Cirno! I already saw a Cirno in the dealer hall before. Every time I see one I want one.

...for some reason this Doll Show was FULL of Cirnos. There were actually four standing here but pic where you can see the fourth one was too blurry. And there was another one somewhere else that I didnt get a pic of. She really has such a cute sculpt.

That green-haired one has a Dollce A head! They’re really cute heads.

Whoever bought the giant Youtube prop also took it to Dolpa the next day. The video title is ‘Steaming live from a Doll Event!’

There were many more dolls than this, but I was very, very tired and my feet were very, very sore! I enjoyed my first and potentially last DollShow though, it was a lot of fun!

Next time I’ll get round to compiling the Dolpa39 report!

I haven’t done anything with my vinyls in a while so I fixed that by finally opening the Kaleidoll outfits I got a while ago and making a dressup video with my MDDs

…unfortunately, despite all the trouble in getting these outfits (Kaleidoll apparently ‘forgot’ my order and so sent it a lot later than everyone else’s) I ended up receiving the wrong size. I only noticed this after I’d already set up everything for the video so decided to just go ahead and shoot it anyway. The outfits are still really cute, but it does bug me a bit. They are the Kumako sizes when I ordered the ones for MDD - it’s especially noticeable on Tilo’s, which is way baggier and with shorter cardigan sleeves, because Kumako are shorter/chubbier than MDD. Arle’s was also missing the random brooch (the bag for it was sealed and empty…). It was disappointing, and since I procrastinated so long to open them probably can’t get replacements. On the plus side, like I said they’re still cute.

No.13 - Mini Dollfie Dream Arle from the PuyoPuyo series! Technically, it’s her second version. I think my story here is the same as most people - her original 2016 release was extremely limited and her rarity made her extremely expensive second-hand, but she has the most adorable little face so everyone wanted her including me. Then she got rereleased as part of the Best Selection series, so I was finally able to get her at her retail cost. I received her in March 2020.

I think PuyoPuyo is fun but I’m a filthy casual mostly, I just think Arle is the cutest ever. She’s also very photogenic so there are..a lot of pics lol. Mine doesn’t really have a set look because I like changing her eyes and wig a lot, she actually has blue eyes atm but I haven’t taken good pics.

Hmmmmmmmmm i think i'm going to cut the wig.... it's really cute as-is, but it gets messy really easy, and i want something easy to manage for the trip. Plus, it will be more in-line with snow white (who's the entire inspiration for this look in the first place)............

I'm so hesitant to significanly alter wigs even if it isn't like a limited wig or anything. I could literally buy another of this down the road if i want the long haired version again, but here i am getting super nervous ^^"

I can finally say she's done!

I like both skirts, and she has two headbands to choose from, so she's gonna have options when we're at disneyland.

Oh also! I had this see-through backpack i wanted to use for the trip, but didn't want to be 100% see-through, so i glued some fabric to it and it turned out really well!

I'm planning a trip to disneyland with some friends in the near-ish future, and instead of outfits for me, obviously one of my dolls needs to cosplay (or disneybound as it's called) for the trip. Each if my dolls submitted their resume and after careful review, arle seemed the most fit for the job--as snow white!

I have most of the pieces at this point except an apple necklace and a skirt i ordered from etsy (on this front, though, i'm also considering just dying the tulle skirt she's currently wearing yellow). I printed the ears tonight and still need to paint them and probably attach some ribbon or string to the ends to tie behind her head and make it more secure.
