Thoughts on Thor in Avengers: Endgame (SPOILERS, obviously)
It’s just an opinion, but NO, I don’t think and feel that Thor was written off as a joke in Endgame.
The guy lost SO MUCH: His mother, father, the love of his life, his friends, his home planet, half of his people, and his own brother was slaughtered right in front of him and he was powerless at the time to stop it. He kept going in IW, but at a crucial point in battle, he made a mistake that cost them everything. He failed. So, add THAT to the loss he was already carrying.
Then during the first few minutes of Endgame, he [they] failed again when he realized that the stones are gone and nothing, supposedly, could bring them back. They lost in an unimaginable way and he must have felt that he had a part in that.
I don’t know how one would cope with all that, but the result in the movie made a lot of sense to me.
The heroes we were always presented with were not perfect beings able to withstand anything and make the right choices each time. They had/have their fair share of weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
Thor needed to get it together and that gave us that beautiful moment with Frigga.
But they gave him a belly and Fortnite! Oh boo freakin’ hoo, so what?! I think when he suited up for the final battle, it was established that his physique didn’t diminish his powers and abilities in any way. And you’re really complaining that he played video games (to escape his PTSD and depression)? Come on, we’re all geeks here.
I sort of agree that he did not stay to rule New Asgard, but that’s just a personal preference. I just see him as more of the adventurer type. The opposite is also possible. Taking care of his people, especially after Ragnarok, IW, and Endgame, seems like an equally reasonable path for him.
All in all, NO, Thor was not treated as a joke. What he suffered through and how he coped with it did not take away his character development. They were part of it. No hate, okay? Bye.

ENDGAME SPOILERS!Don't bloody read any further you haven't watched it yet!!!
I've never cried so much in the cinema they really did a beautiful job of finishing up the storyline, yeah they pulled some unpopular moves with Thor and Steve but that's the reality of the sacrifices of leaving your old life and loved ones behind. With Scott and Carol it really shows how important the other movies are to watch and be aware of the little details bc they played a major role in saving everyone's ass. It was so beautiful that we got to see Tony seeing his dad, Thor and his mum, Steve seeing Peggy which perhaps is when his plan came to mind, it's so sad that Natasha and Tony didn't made it but without their sacrifices the avengers wouldn't have won. My favorite part was definitely everyone being released from the soul stone that was so bad ass and watching thanos die twice but I'm still trying to process it all.

The Easter egg in the Morbius trailer isn’t the kind you get candy and money from, it’s the kind that crushes souls and dreams.

I wouldn't put too much faith into what WGTC reports. They are notoriously unreliable to the point that they have been banned from numerous forums that deal with leaks/spoilers. Some time ago someone on the MCUspoilers subreddit tallied their track record and in 407 MCU "scoops" they had reported during the year 44% were blatantly wrong/fake, 47% was publicly known info, and only the 8% ended up being correct. so yeah, I'd take everything they say with a good dose of skepticism

i knew they were unreliable but wow thats sdfghj CERTAINLY SOMETHING

Tony Stark’s Last Speech
Everybody wants a happy ending, right? But it doesn’t always roll that way. (Maybe this time.) I’m hoping if you play this back, it’s in celebration. I hope families are reunited, I hope we get it back, and something like a normal version of the planet has been restored. If there ever was such a thing. God, what a world. Universe, now. If you told me ten years ago that we weren’t alone, let alone, you know, to this extent, I mean, I I I wouldn’t have been surprised. But come on, you know? That epic forces of darkness and light that have come into play. And, for better or worse, that’s the reality Morgan’s going to have to find a way to grow up in. So I found the time and I recorded a little greeting, in the case of an untimely death. On my part. I mean, not that, death at any time isn’t untimely. This time travel thing that we’re going to try and pull off tomorrow, it’s got me scratching my head about the survivability of it. Then again, that’s the hero gig. Part of the journey is the end. I’ve made this journey before. Everything’s going to work out exactly the way it’s supposed to.
[To Morgan]
I love you 3000.

DISSECTING MUSIC
aha
ha
Anyway, it's a super stressful soundtrack, unsurprisingly. The overarching theme, particularly in "Lemurian Star" and "Taking a Stand", and then echoed in "Captain America" to an extent, is like... the musical embodiment of "intensely urgently exciting", in no small thanks to the violins. The music swells and you think it's going to be alright, but then we drop again and you're immediately set into "ah fuckshit balls it's not okay and it's never going to be okay"
"Fury" actually feels like that battering ram against the car. You can actually feel the shock impacts, especially at the beginning. All of the battle songs are like that, "Into the Fray" and "Countdown" are emotional buildups to the chaos of battle ("Into the Fray" has a few 'clang's interspaced in it and I love the subtle musical nod to the sound of the shield); it's intense and does the 'chaos' element very well.
But it's interspaced with these soft moments. "Frozen in Time" is a ghost. Melodious whispers, and as you get further in, it turns out the ghosts might not be so welcoming...? Which then bleeds into "HYDRA", and the ghosts get more intense. The bass is particularly interesting, it's like a heartbeat, as you're finding out just how fucked all the shit is. And the violins start to come back slowly, bringing back the overarching theme music again, just a little bit... mixed with the chaos that is also a central theme to this soundtrack.
"Natasha" is also a ghost of a song, but hers has this wistful tone to it. I'm sad it's so short. It has this potential to be a musical reflection of her turning point, where she realizes she doesn't like being a blank slate, that she doesn't know who she really is anymore, and she wants to be better because Steve believes she can be. "Natasha" is a short moment of hope in a sea of despair.
"The Winter Soldier", and then the 'revision' in "The Causeway", is actually chaos in musical form. I fucking love his theme. We heard it a lot in the movie, but not this full version. Listen to the full version. It's gorgeous and imperfect. Musically, it's what movies and shows always try to convey when they're trying to show what it feels like to a character to be in the seconds and minutes after an explosion. Jaggedly moving through time and space, there's a mute over most of it but you're pretty sure you don't like what you can hear. It jumps from high tempos to low, you aren't sure where it's going to jump next. It's mechanical, technical, it sounds like an angry duck, and twisted. I adore it.

Okay so my thoughts on Cap 2
I got most of my fangirling out before the movie; luckily my friends were very understanding xD Had a mini comics-mcu conversation with my friends' friend, which was pretty fun since rarely do I actually discuss comics irl.
But for the movie... well I'm sure I won't hit everything because it was a lot and I'm kinda tired, but basically MY SACRIFICE OF NOT WATCHING TRAILERS OR ANYTHING WAS SO WORTH IT I thought it was amazing and spoilers under the cut.
ALL THE CAP ACROBATICS AND SLICK AS FUCK FIGHTING JUST MADE ME SO GODDAMN HAPPY I think the beginning sequence going after the ship just really showcased that so well and FUCKING BATROC THE LEAPER THAT WAS JUST SO GREAT like I know he's kind of a joke in comics and I do like the silly batroc of the cartoons and stuff but how freakin cool was he in this??
Great Natasha fight scenes as well, their fighting styles are just completely different and I like how they emphasized that. Natasha's copious amounts of deadpan humor kind of took me by surprise though, I guess I just wasn't expecting so *much* of it? I know her trying to get Steve into the dating scene was like, the running joke, but she seemed to be pushing it maybe too hard... I think it felt somewhat OOC/insensitive for her to be bringing it up constantly, I just would have thought she'd have more tact than that? Like, okay, sure make a joke or two but to go at it THAT hard? Meh. If they were going to use that so much they could have at least thrown a male option for him too, like it was no big deal.
I'm not normally the type to like car chases and such but I thought the ones in this movie were pretty damn cool and less typical. The outright siege on Fury's car was highly entertaining. Fury being a BAMF, hell yes. That death scene didn't fool me for one second :P
PEGGY UGH IT WAS REALLY CUTE AND THEN SUDDENLY IT WAS THE SADDEST FUCKING THING EVER WHAT A PUNCH TO THE GUT OH MY GOD I CRIED AND SOBBED and my friends just like patted me on the arms and I really wish Link could have been there cause I needed a shoulder and a hug ;_;
SAM SAM SAMSASDSLK<ADKMFDM SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
that's pretty much all I have to say about Mackie. definitely my favorite part of the movie other than cap (evans in that goddamn white tank top is sin jfc)
Bucky's favoring of explodey guns took me aback somewhat as it didn't really seem to be his style. But I guess they just wanted lots of explosions. The flashback scene with Bucky and Steve after his mom's funeral gave me a lot of Stucky feels and I don't even ship them that much. Ugh but I really live up to my name in that I end up slashing everything so it was kind of a three-way tie between Bucky, Sam, and Tony in this movie (even with Tony out of the picture my stevetony loyalties are strong and I attributed Steve's lack of interest in dating to having lived at Stark Tower for awhile and fallen in love with Tony, and upon realizing this he moved down to DC to clear his had aaaaaahahhah)
I liked how they did Zola in this. I don't know if it was the same in Ults verse, but clearly you could not have the giant face on a screen in a robot like in the comics but what they DID do worked great imo.
BUT SITWELL WAS EVIL??? FUCKFUCKFUCK I am saddened by this :( And how the hell is AOS going to handle the whole "SHIELD is getting dismantled" thing? (plus Sitwell's death?)
Also I know that SHIELD HYDRA dude that Sam was fighting in the end, who they showed being taken off for treatment, covered in 3rd degree burns had to be a future villain drop; is it Crossbones?
Anyway, that's all I can think of for now. I'm running on 4 hrs of sleep and I'm p sure my brain short-circuited from the sheer amount of fangirling I did so I bid you good night. If I think of anything I missed when I see it at the drive-in (where I will be able to squeal to my heart's content, since I'll be alone in my car lol), I'll make another post :x

So guys
since most of you have seen it, basically all I wanted to say about IM3 are as follows
Goddamn Mustard armour (i.e. MK 42). GODDAMN MUSTARD ARMOUR!!!! I REALLY HATED THE COLOUR AND EVERYTHING THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT BUT NOW I'M LIKE SO IN LOVE. It's just an adorable little piece of shit and I just. Ogod ;;___;; All my sentient armour feels. IT REALLY HURTS ME THAT HE ASPLODED AND STUFF
JARVIS/Tony. Oh my god. I think, I'm going to sleep, sir. CRYING
MAYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. OH MY GOD I CAN NEVER STOP CRYING OVER HER. I KNEW IT. I JUST KNEW IT. MY PREMONITION WAS RIGHT TT__TT But I'm glad that the Madame Masque rumour was a flux!
I think Mandarin was very terrifying the first time I watched the movie. Perhaps Loki needs to learn from Trevor.
Rhodey. 1000000% YES for him. This movie portray the best Tony/Rhodey bromance IMO. As I mentioned sometime ago, I never liked Don Cheadle as Rhodey but now I'm just all the wowowowowyess lets have him in Avengers 2 along with Sam wooooo
HAPPY IS WIN. ESPECIALLY 1999!HAPPY HAHA WHAT IS THAT HAIR LOL. Glad to see a lot of character development for him ;u;
This movie sorta like redeemed Pepper a little bit for me? I love how she's actually not being a bitch to Maya. I still wish she'd understand Tony more (??? idk I just feel that sometimes she's not really emotionally there for Tony???? Especially the time when they were sleeping? I feel so bad for Tony but I suppose I'd freak out too if I were Pepper?) anyway, it's partly Tony's fault too so ya. All I'm saying is. I'm just slightly indifferent about her. But she's back in my good book again because IM2 made me hate her so much :S Extremis!Pepper *two thumbs up*
Moving on to Tony. YES. EVERYTHING. I JUST CANT. I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN. HIS PTSD IS SERIOUSLY WOW TONY YOU'RE ACTUALLY HUMAN AND JUST LET ME HUG YOU PLEASE. It makes me wonder if Shane Black spent some time hanging around AO3 :XXX I love how this movie is all about Tony Stark and not the suit. Some of the stunts he did were just AMAZING! HOW DO YOU.
BUT ARC REACTOR WHY?!?!?!?! WITH ALL THE ARMOURS DESTROYED I'M GETTING A LITTLE WORRIED. IS HE GOING TO BE THE NEW SHIELD DIRECTOR OR SOMETHING WHICH I HOPE NOT BECAUSE I THINK TONY IS THE SORT OF PERSON THAT WANTS TO DO THE FIELDWORK RATHER THAN GIVING COMMANDS FROM GOD KNOWS WHERE.
But I'm also speculating that he fixed the Extremis coding when he helped Pepper? .....and perhaps used it on himself idk.
ngl that I was disappointed that there's no Steve. Not even one Cap reference like how Cap's prototype shield was in both earlier movies. :(((( They didn't even mention that Extremis was somewhat inspired by the Super Serum?
