i had a dream that there was a new MCU movie coming out where all the preview stuff looked awful, so the internet was roasting it and everybody was getting excited to hatewatch it and stuff, and then it came out and the entire movie had the villain building up to his big plan without any clear indication of what it was, until five minutes before the end of the movie, the main character woke up to a news broadcast of the villain going 'I JUST KILLED EVERYONE ON THE PLANET. EVERYBODY BUT LIKE FOUR PEOPLE. FUCK IT, EVERYBODY'S DEAD. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW INTERNET' and then it ended

I mean yeah voice actors voices are hot but also like in appearance
Corey Burton is a cutie
You know what, that's valid
You must go on a vision quest to see what the MCU is blind to (and by that I mean go find one (1) weird indie movie youve never heard of and watch the whole thing). Then you will be cleaned of your corporate media sins (/lh)
Oh good, I get to talk about this dumbass show (beloved)
RiD 01 as a whole is a SILLY fuckin show. Like they took the sillygoofy nature of g1 and went "bet," then cranked it 10 times higher. G1 still had its somber moments. Character work. Genuinely threatening and downright cruel villains. RiD 01 has occasional complex characters, but 90% of the time, this show is a fairly low-stakes comedy that's going full camp.
The autobots are dysfunctional and just straight up weird. Three of them are brothers, and it's not a trio anyone would EVER expect. Prowl is a fucking narc. Brawn is here but he's named X-Brawn bc I guess he had to get that Xtreme rebrand for the 2000s. He's also closer to Ironhide than anything, complete with the Texas accent. Their other brother is named Sideburn, he's the bumblebee equivalent as the Designated Kid Appeal Character, but he's also, and I shit you not, a sex pest about red sports cars. Not just bots with sports car alts. Any red sports car. He will drop everything to go chase a sexy red car and he catcalls it the whole time. The TFA constructicons have NOTHING on this guy. He gets so aggressively horny on main his narc-ass cop brother has to arrest him for it.
Optimus is here, and he's got his own family trouble. He has a brother too, and it's fucking Ultra Magnus. Magnus hates his guts because OP got chosen as Autobot leader and he didn't. At one point they find a cache of blank protoforms, Megatron gets to it first, and has one of them scan both himself and Optimus when he comes online, which results in Scourge, my lameass emo boyfriend i was defending through the whole Scourge War. He's literally just, like, Their Kid and he fucking hates his autobot dad so he lives with Megatron instead to try and make him proud of how Evil and Competent he is.
Megatron has like. Too many altmodes. Just too many. One of them sort of kind of counts as a sports car, that is partially red, Sideburn gets horny about it. Finding out it was Megatron did not stop him for asking for a date. Canon bisexual before IDW, even in the English dub.
The main villains serving Megatron are the predacons and they're about as threatening as team rocket and roughly half as competent. One of them is a squirrel voiced by Steve Blum. The second in command is SkyByte and he's so fucking bad at being evil. He writes poetry (which Optimus roasts the shit out of). He takes online personality quizzes and then gets legitimately upset if he doesn't get the results he wants. This was the plot of an entire episode. He has a crush on Megatron and fantasizes about doing a good job for him. He doesn't like scourge because he thinks he's Meg's new favorite. He does circus tricks on command. He has a soft spot for kids and he was so nice to them while actively trying to be evil that he ended up with a fanbase in-universe that followed him around and encouraged him to be a good guy. He is the EPITOME of a skrunkly little loser boyfailure AND he's a shark. What more could you ask for.
This is not even a quarter of the insane shit that happens in this show. It has NO chill, ever. If you want to see pure, unbridled chaos from robots that are usually at least a little more serious and intense, I literally cannot rec it enough. A lot of hot robots too, tbh. The things id do to Midnight Express...

Do you think there is astroturfing around disney properties?
When Ant-man 3 was release, everyone was shitting on the movie but praised Jonathan Majors's performance but after the conviction I keep seeing statements like 'his acting was clownish', 'he was the worst part of Loki' etc.
You know since the recent poll about Loki, as of now 57.3% has passed on him, even after release of season 2 which was trending for a while got me thinking . Like, what happened ? Wasn't it the most watched show?
I really hated what happened to him so much that seeing him makes me eyeroll. My favourite MCU character ruined since ragnorak.
If Tom says he didn't like the show, would the opinion on it change?
Omg, yes! And thank you so much for coming to my inbox!!
So, first of all, thank you for teaching me a new word. For everyone else who -like me- didn’t know the exact meaning of “astroturfing”:
But I think the whole situation is complex.
1) i absolutly think that Disney has a team that does use shady methods to make the public opinion appear better than it actually is. I think it was @iamnmbr3 who noticed that some 5 star reviews on major rating sites looked like they were bot-generated (but it was quite some time ago. I linked the article in my master post). Twitter (now X) has so many bots on it and the platform allows them to tilt polls massively. So, yeah, I agree. But. I don’t think that’s necessarily the biggest influence on the public opinion.
2) I assume this is the poll you refer to. It doesn’t distinguish between series Loki, TR Loki, and OG Loki which might have biased the outcome in a negative way. I know some hardcore og Loki fans who did not vote at all, because they LOVE og Loki, but cannot give series Loki a “smash”. Others voted “pass” because the pic is of TR Loki which is still a turn-off for some. I assume that some series Loki fans might vote “pass” because there are many that never liked Loki before the show.
3) there are different types of fans. The hardcore fans stay, but during the airing a lot of casual fans come rushing in, consume, and eventually leave. These people are often very enthusiastic, sometimes even aggressively positive. by now they will have wandered further, leaving only the hardcore fans behind (old and new ones).
4) a lot of people loved the SHOW but not LOKI. I see these types of fans mostly on Reddit. They like the time travel, or kang, or the side characters or just the mcu. Those as well won’t care for Loki or even vote on polls around here.
And then there is also this trend to attack people for liking stuff produced by people who are in any way problematic. Majors trial made all those people drop him like a hot potato. Perhaps some are now trying to “atone” for saying good things about Majors by roasting him? Perhaps the people who never liked him to begin with feel now it’s “safe” to publicly criticize him, since his supporters must fear being attacked for “supporting a domestic abuser”.
All in all, I deeply agree with you on the series being very bad for Loki (as in “destroying any chance for a satisfying conclusion to his arc, his feelings about the adoption, and the time with Thanos”) and I fear it might also be bad for both Tom and the MCU (as in “the public interest is going down and while the show WAS praised widely it still contributed to the downfall instead of generating or reviving interest”).
And yeah, I have a post on how successful the show was in preparation. 🙈 sorry for being so extremely slow with that one. I prefer focusing on writing fanfics, these days. 🙂 OG Loki is alive in our fics, dear anon. No one can take him away from us! 🫂

It's 4 am, woke up once more with a slight headache, which means I need help figuring out some important stuff.
How old is Rocket Raccoon in the MCU?
According to the internets, average lifespan of raccoons in the wild is around 2 to 3 years, but in captivity their lifespan is around 15 to 20 years, which makes sense as I heard some wildlife think their flesh can be quite delicious when roasted over a flamepit.
Male raccoons reaches sexual maturity at around age 2, just to help indicate how quickly they can age into adulthood.
Average human lifespan is around 79 years. Best way to work out Raccoon to Human years I found is: Human age = Raccoon age x (79 / 15)
Do note that the High Evolutionary might have had a breeding or cloning plan to always have stock of Earth animals for testing and experiments, which means HE could have visited Earth during the late 80s and still have stock to experiment on in present day, reason why Counter Earth home decor screamed 80s.
Another thing to take into account is Rocket's augmentations could have increased his lifespan as well.
Also remember that Rocket aged really quickly at first, from the moment he was experimented on up to the point he escaped, he went from baby (first word being "Hurts") to little kid ("It blue. What sounds?") to young juvenile ("They want to kill us in the morning") .
Now add into account that the in universe timeline for the movies were GotG Vol.1, 2015, GotG Vol.2, 2017, GotG Vol.3, 2026. That means there has been 11 years between bounty hunting on Xandar to saving kids and animals on Knowhere.
In the first movie he stated he doesn't have much of a lifespan left anyways, that could either mean he might have calculated his aging himself, or that he was just severely depressed. Either fits him.
Final thing to take into consideration, his criminal record from Nova Corps: 13 counts of theft, 22 counts of escape from incarceration, 7 counts of mercenary activity, 15 counts of arson. That is a lot of stuff he did, and it is highly doubtful he could have done all of that in just one year.
Now to the question at hand. I feel the youngest he could have been to have done all he did up to being on Xandar with Groot is 5 years old, which is like around 26 in raccoon years. What do you lot think?

What made you join the Chris E fandom?
It wasn't on purpose
I'd spent like 6 years working for Disney being very content with not liking him and not even thinking he was hot and believing the Cap movies to be the most boring in the MCU (I hadnt even seen them before i watched infinity war, stg i did not recognize that man when he came on screen)
And then I was in lockdown and did (yet another) marathon watch of the Marvel movies. I'd been drinking red wine and was in a good mood when this bitch walks in
I will always know the exact date it happened bc i posted a fucking video to my insta story lmao i was shooketh at suddenly being attracted to him 😂
Then i made the mistake of googling him. Found the tweets he'd written during the election, completely roasting trump. Now, I'm very much the same type of person, and did that very aggressively during the election (i would get drunk and watch the debates and absolutely rip him apart on my insta stories lmao life was fun. Im not even american)
And bc of that I actually suddenly found him interesting. Watched some inteviews. This one sealed the deal
But it was still primarily about Steve for me in the beginning. Started writing Electric not long after that. Then i started reading fanfics and it all spiralled from there lmao
So yeah. I knew when it happened that it was a bad idea sksjks i remember telling myself to stop watching his interviews bc it would get me in trouble, but i never listen to myself 🙃 fucking should have lmaooo but at least its brought me so much good stuff !!!!
So yeah. Thats it.
What about you nonnie? 🥰🥰🥰

For me the decline in interest was never about the derivativeness of the stories. I'm a huge comic book fan, so I'm pretty used to the same story told in a different way over and over again. For me it was the character assassinations, and the huge amounts of story outside the movie you had to know.
I tried continuing to watch the MCU after Steve Rogers was roasted on the pyre of DEFINITELY NOT GAY. So 'not gay' we sent him back in time to retire and never fight bullies again, just so he could marry someone who shot at him in a jealous rage and kissed him once right before he died.
But the movies also started becoming less and less about any kind of actual story, and more a thinly veiled reach to get you to watch the next one coming up. No solid start and stop to what's going on, and no hardcore happy endings, because the character can always come back at any time or place and be eviscerated literally or figuratively.
And more often than not, now, when I watch a new movie or series, I have to go watch some youtuber explain to me what the hell was actually going on in the story I just sat and watched.
But even worse, I'm a huge Marvel comic book nerd. So if I I'm having trouble piecing it altogether, what hope do non-comic fans have?
The more movies and series they make the more it seems like it all becomes about what is going on outside the movie, and less about good storytelling.
Why should I have to follow the writers or directors online to understand their plot holes? When someone has to explain to you how Steve Rogers came back as an old man, when they just spent an entire movie explaining that that couldn't actually happen because it would cause a branch timeline, I fear the creators have jumped the shark.
Then when the writers and directors can't even AGREE on how and why that plot hole can be explained, it's obvious that the people involved no longer care about telling a good story, but hitting some arbitrary story beats that will lead to the next one in line.
I've read dozens if not hundreds of fanfiction alternatives to EndGame that could have been used to explain Chris Evans no longer being interested in the role of Captain America without completely trashing his character arc. So if arm chair writers and hobbyist can do it, why couldn't the people being paid to do it?
And while it's not actually sour grapes on my part for being less interested in what followed in the marvel universe, it definitely didn't help.
To me though, the biggest mistake they made was making it impossible for a casual viewer to just pick and choose the stories they wanted to watch without missing huge swaths of content needed to understand what they were watching. But their second biggest mistake was alienating the hardcore movie and comic book fans like myself when they started assassinating their own character arcs.
And as a side note: Kevin Feige was an ass when he renamed the marvel cinematic universe to 616. 616 was always and will always be the main Marvel comics universe. I had forgiven a lot up until then, but as a Marvel comics fan since the 1970s, that pisses me off more than I'm willing to admit most days.
I can't speak to DC or Star Wars. I'm a casual Star Wars fan for occasional things (I liked the Mandolorian), but for me Star Wars ended with Return of the Jedi. And I never liked DC comics with the exception of Wonder Woman. I thought Batman was an asshole and Superman was boring. Plus stealing my dad's X-Men comics was way cheaper too. But I also suspect those franchises have similar problems to my experience with the MCU.
Am I an old weird who is just totally missing the point?
I love Captain Marvel. She's a great character, and I loved the way Brie Larson played her in the one Captain Marvel movie I've seen.
The only reason I even know about Captain Marvel is because my friend wrote the comic and is largely responsible for all the stuff we love about her. So I'm kind of sad for my friend that the newest Marvel movie isn't doing well.
But I'm wondering if these Marvel and Star Wars and DC movies are all sort of languishing and not meeting expectations because they're all so derivative of each other, and audiences are hungering for something new and different?
I'm old and way outside of the demo, so I could be as wrong as a person can be, but I am wondering if that's part of the steady and consistent decline of box office for all those films. Barbie and Oppenhemier were events, which is what I think films ought to be, but they were also just so totally different from the vast wasteland of sameness that fills up multiplexes, I couldn't get my tickets fast enough.
Maybe audiences are bored with more of the same characters, the retelling of the same essential story over and over again, and this odd feeling that the whole thing was grown in a lab, rather than created by an artist with a vision (James Gunn being the exception to that rule.)
I'm not saying these are bad, or people shouldn't like them, just that they all feel like slight variations on the same theme over and over again. It's just boring as fuck to me. Am I an old weird who is just totally missing the point? I'm so curious to know what y'all think.

The she hulk writers writing themselves into a corner where whatever they wrote for a finale would’ve sucked so they instead used half the runtime for a fourth wall break and thus didn’t have to write an actually satisfying ending… lmao
#that was the weakest ep so far which is crazy bc I am so so fourth wall break obsessed#it just felt like a cop out so they didn’t have to actually write a good ending imo#the way there’s now a mcu canonical reason that every movie feels like a rehashed cashgrab why would you roast yourself like that#sassy speaks

I’m baaaaack
I’m eating pancakes and drinking an entire glass bottle of San Pellegrino. It’s 2:30 am.
This movie is genuinely so freaking…weird
Thor basically says Loki hasn’t been acting like himself lately. We don’t know what Loki is like in a healthier place. So why do so many people swear TVA Loki can’t be a version of OG Loki’s true self? For example, I find Loki’s personality in the Loki Series reminds me most of Loki in Dark World. Makes sense. Same period of life, different timelines. I theorize season 2 Loki will be very Dark World esc from what we’ve seen
That scene where he shapeshifts into different people to drive Thor crazy reminds me of his shenanigans at the TVA.
when Loki said Thor “likes (his new friends) so much,” did it sound sarcastic, resentful, jealous? I could be imagining things. He may just be mocking his brother’s friends. Too subtle to tell.
Loki is definitely into Steve
and I’m definitely into Sif
Odin is the real villain
Is it embarrassing that Thor and Loki driving that spaceship and the exchange that leads to “you just decapitated your grandfather” and then Loki driving super sexily and “TA DA” is possibly my all time favorite MCU sequence? A bit, however cringe is dead. So many iconic quotes from those scenes.
Dashingfrost canon methinks… “FLeXibLe”
Whenever Loki exists in this movie I want to lick my screen
The only woman whose love you’ve prized will be snatched from you! *cut to Loki crying at a random McDonalds in Oklahoma* I wish Thor was there to roast him back
I need to stop quoting Loki but “Satifaction is not in my nature,” is such a tragic line coming from such a tormented ambitious dreamer of a person…he’s an enneagram 4 for fvcks sake. He spent his whole life chasing a rainbow…Ouroboros, serpent chasing it’s own tail. (Possibly also the name of that new Loki character?)
Legend says, every scene in Thor the dark world can spawn up to 13 Loki character analysis metas. His character growth in this movie alone means so much to me. I can’t stop pausing every 3 seconds and dissecting his character. Dark World is a Loki masterclass alongside Thor 1, and in my opinion more important to understanding his character than Avengers.
Selvig went insane cause of Loki’s mind control via the mindstone… The mindstone altered Loki himself to a lesser degree. I wonder how much…incharresting
Why is Loki the only one who ever has a goddamn plan? At least Thor helped for once. Meanwhile Jane is like “wait, is Loki actually a good person?” I’d talk about the plot but it’s convoluted and very blah in every way. Loki is the plot, to be honest
Me whenever Loki “dies”: he’ll be fineeeee
The anomalies/portals in this movie are still super funny
Mjolnir on the coat rack, so iconic. Even funnier knowing Loki’s wandering the desert off screen with a stab wound this whole scene. Who said this movie was bad I just want to talk (the plot is sketchy but it’s fucking hilarious. Easily one of the funnest MCU movies)
Sometimes I too daydream about faking my death, Loki. Go to therapy. (Oh wait that’s what Mobius is supposed to be )
The suspicious face Loki made in guard disguise lol. So subtle so subtle I’m just picturing him eating trail mix, mildly concerned, while the convergence goes down.
I forgot this entire part of the movie. Ya know, the climax. With the important bits and stuff.
Thor: basically advocating the throne. Loki as Odin: did I - did I just get a fucking happy ending?
When you speak, do I never hear Mother’s voice? Potent use of double meaning and dramatic irony. *Sentimental Loki noises* He loved his mom so much bruh I’m choking up.
And eventually, Loki did finally choose being a good person over being a great ruler. Ironic, as Loki was a better person and better ruler than Odin ever could be. The soft way he talks to Thor in this scene…it’s so funny, because on one hand, Loki is a phenomenal actor (and a theatre kid lol) but he’s also not acting a lot of the time. He meant most of what he said to Thor, and in Avengers he was at his worst but much of what he said was projection… he hides his true self behind a mask. The Loki series got something right at least…
Loki is so fucking neurodivergent
The Thor/Jane end credit scene. They’re endgame in my head, Marvel
The end
LCU (Loki Cinematic Universe) Rewatch Part Three here we come!
Thor: the Dark World
Oh Gods I forgot how…indescribable this movie is. I have no words. The outfits and settings look so real and the elves look so fake?
Me every time I see Loki: oOmMgGg Hiiiiiiiiiii 😘
“Mother did I make you proud?” And the whole way he handles this scene…How did anyone ever take him seriously - no wonder he went off the rails, that’s his greatest fear
“Do you not feel the gravity of your crimes” ok this is pure speculation but going off of what we know about Loki’s moral and emotional system - he’s capable of remorse and empathy, but he tends to compartmentalize and bury guilt and shame, repress and conceal his true feelings, and rationalize, minimize and justify his actions instead of accepting what he sees as weakness, so yes, I’d imagine that deep down he absolutely fucking feels it. And it don’t feel good.
Loki justifies his imperialism genocide and violence in an imperial genocidal militaristic society but the second he becomes king he decreases military intervention something something (one of the good bits of Ragnarok)
“I don’t enjoy hurting people” But Odin does. And so Loki pretends to.
BOOOOOO Odin no one likes you BOOOOOOO SCREW YOU
oMggg Sif hiiiiiii. Look at her, Thor. LOOK at her! With your eyes! She prettyyyyy
Odin and Thor: talking about Thor’s love life. Loki probably: rocking back in forth in his cell because no one’s ever gonna love him. Another Loki at the same time: chasing his soulmate across spacetime because she pulled a Loki on him and he finds that endearing
The sets and ambiance of Asgard are gorgeous how do I move there
Yet another obscure character I don’t remember, Darcy’s in the comics now I’m so proud, Selvig’s lost his last marble, so have I Selvig, so have I
The weird gravity/time space anomaly/warp thing in that abandoned building actually makes for a fun scene. You cannot change my mind on this. The Aether is pretty creepy though ngl.
Thor and Jane are so cringe together. I love them. They also break my heart
The plot of this movie is really…something
Loki and Frigga’s bond actually makes me teary I know they didn’t have the best relationship it was strained and toxic at times but omg they care about eachother so much I’m getting emotional…she genuinely was the only person Loki truly loved in a healthy way. And he fucking lost her. FUCK
Cut to me relating to Loki so much it makes me physically recoil. I’d get into why but I’m not trauma dumping today.
“I don’t know why Loki helped the dark elf get into the palace”…lol stop lying to yourself you know the reason very well. You have the same resentment and lust for chaos inside you that Loki does…that desperate grief that makes you want to burn down the world that burned you. you know. I see my worst in Loki, and his story gives me hope that I can change. There’s a good chance I will die young (medical shit) and Loki dying young also gives me comfort.
This movie is peak Loki. I just fucking adore the little shit. I just aahfhkjkmng *aggressively squeezes*
Heimdall is underrated
Someone on discord said Frigga autocorrected to Fridged on their phone and Frigga’s dying and that’s all I can think about rip…bruh this scene hits a lot harder after my dad’s death ✌️
HE WASNT EVEN ALLOWED AT HER FUCKING FUNERAL FUCK YOU ODIN DRINK BLEACH!!!!Anyways I forgot how cinematic and heartbreakingly beautiful the funeral was
YOU CAN SEE THE SPARK LEAVE HIS FUCKING EYES IM GONNA FIGHT ODIN IN A DENNYS PARKING LOT. I’m ending on the Loki illusion scene for tonight because it’s 3 am and I’m in emotional distress.
How can anyone watch the illusion scene and the deleted bits and actually believe Loki is a cold hearted psychopath? I have this fucked up headcanon that Loki almost attempted suicide after Frigga’s death and either stopped himself…or Thor showed up right on time. I can’t prove it but I know it’s true by gut instinct.
There’s something so weirdly profound about someone who seeks out death being unkillable. Character who thinks he represents death actually represents life. That’s something the Loki series actually did well. They definitely screwed up his character in places, but I can see the backbone of what they intended. I don’t know how to explain this, but I don’t ship Sylvie with TVA Loki, I ship her with Pre-Ragnarok Loki. Aka, I characterize TVA Loki as closer to OG Loki than he is thus far.
There’s a tiny detail about Loki that makes me go feral. You have to psychoanalyze a little, but Loki doubts his brother even cares about him, so whenever Thor says he feels betrayed and threatens him, Loki smiles. It means Thor cared. It means there’s hope. Negative attention is better than none at all. Disappointment is better than apathy. I wish I didn’t know how he feels.
#LCU rewatch#thor the dark world#only two more to go and Loki series one will be shorter cause I’ve already studied that one closely#now that the dark world rewatch is over I can rewatch Good Omens 1#I’m writing a fic right now and that will help me with mannerisms. my character voice luckily doesn’t need as much work

okay you know what here comes nothing…
steve's character NEVER made sense to me and never will.
first in the avengers movie: who the hell out him in charge when he's the least qualified after bruce. like clint has had like 20 years of experience in shield and nat has had at least like 15 years of grueling training in the red room and then like 5 years in shield okay? so these two know how to lead a team and how to act on a battlefield and come out victorious. next we have tony who has been iron man for 2 years and he has fought terrorists and maniacs all around. and then we have thor who has HUNDREDS of years of war experience. steve on the other hand has like a year of war experience. so i don't get why HE is the leader and the one calling the shots in the avengers when you have three people WAY more qualified than him.
then in catws i just do not get how he just simply recruits people to join him in his suicide mission like… if sam had a couple additional working brain cells and wasn't fanboying hard, he would not have joined him. and listen there is loyalty to friends and then there is steve who multiplied it by four hundred thousands which leads us to the shitshow called
cacw… like where do i start. did steve have a point in opposing the accords about not wanting to be on a leash, yeah he did. but instead of keeping him emotions in check and talking it out he instead worked on splitting the team up and beat up the ones who don't agree with him. i know tony is not an angel and he made mistakes but the accords were gonna happen whether they liked it or not and if the team stayed together then they can show up as a united front and demand changes in the accords. but once again steve saw bucky and he couldn't see anything or anyone anymore no matter who he hurts in the process.
so half the avengers ended up in jail and wanda treated like an animal. like even if bucky got arrested, if he had been honest with the team and especially tony, you want me to believe that they wouldn't have all helped him get bucky out. so that's why agree mostly with nat's take on the events and when she emphasized the necessity of the team staying together.
and then he goes out calling the shots in aif like he's the man in charge, and his biggest mistake is always counting on luck to solve his problems… he always has this stupid optimism that everything is gonna work out simply because he is captain america like that is supposed to erase all his failures and flaws and mistakes.
and last but not least you cannot convince me that steve went back in time KNOWING that bucky was being TORTURED and BRAINWASHED and turned into a mindless soldier by hydra and steve sat around looking pretty for peggy who he couldn't have known that well to fall this hard for. like he let all the awful things happen around him and he just watched from the sidelines eating popcorn when throughout all the movies he is shown as that self righteous hero who would not let anything slighty bad happen on his watch.
honestly i can go on and on roasting every single one of the characters in the mcu except most the women cause women are always right but i'll just stop here :)
so after my rant the important question is… where the hell is my tshirt??!
Okay, so this is gonna be like an essay to match yours, so get ready for that under the cut lol
The first point: You are so right about that and I've never thought about it that way before.
Thor, Clint, Nat, and Tony have the most experience and qualifications out of all of The Avengers to run/be the leader of a team like that.
While Steve has maybe a single year of out of date war strategies and experience.
Now, don't get me wrong, I love Tony, but at that point in his life (during the first Avengers movie) he was not yet ready (be that bot experience and some forms of maturity) to run The Avengers.
Same goes for Thor, as we were shown in his movies.
He's not a King/a leader, even if he is worthy to be one. He is a fighter. So that's him out of the running.
So, that just leaves the logical option of Clint and Natasha sharing the position.
But no. It had to be Steve. Why?
Because of his over-glorified title of 'Captain America'.
That's the only reason.
Now, on to your second point. I honestly don't have a problem with him recruiting more people to take down H.Y.D.R.A. controlled S.H.I.E.L.D..
But! What I do have an issue with in that movie, is Steve thinking that he needed to know everything that happens in S.H.I.E.L.D., even when it's above his clearance level.
His reasoning?
He's Captain America, so he has to know this stuff.
I couldn't agree more with your points on Civil War.
The Accords are flawed at best.
But they could have kept a level head, stayed together, got the best lawyers and have all the human rights violations removed from the Accords. While still doing what's right by the civilians.
But no.
Steve wanted his way or the highway.
And the thing is, I honestly don't think he understood that the bad things of the Accords could have been changed and/or scrapped entirely. Because that's how laws and stuff work. That you can fight to have them changed, the right way. And not be on the run to do it. Especially in more modern times.
But, let's be entirely honest here, he wouldn't know as deeply as the rest of us.
He went under the ice in WWII.
He never lived through most of the Civil Rights Movement's (be that the Civil Rights for black people, the LGBTQ+, the disabled, for mental health etc..), nor did he grow up with the knowledge, and the change of the world after they had happened.
He only found out about them once he had gotten out of the ice. When they were all very much still happening back in the Mid '40s.
So, that only leads me to believe that he doesn't get the full extent, or the full sense, of how fighting the legal system can work.
But yeah, you're also right, he did just get tunnel vision when it came to Bucky (once again) and thought, "fuck all my other friends and people who care for me, they're not my Bucky!"
Also, side note, I hate it when people demonize Tony and his team for fighting Team Cap when they were the ones pulling their punches the whole time and Team Cap were in it for the kill if needed (sans Clint to Natasha).
And people rag on at Tony for bringing Peter into the fight (when they didn't even want or intend for it to be a fight), because he was a minor.
While yeah, I get that, having a teenager there wasn't the best decision. But at the same time, he was meant to just be there to "web them up" if anything started to stop them from fighting them, and not to get into the actual thick of things.
Granted, that didn't happen.
But hardly anyone talks about the fact that Steve could tell that Peter was a kid, and still threw a like four tone container crate on him, then walked away when he was buckling under the weight.
If Steve would have had a sit-down and a long talk with Tony about Bucky, his brainwashing, and what happened to his parents, in a controlled environment, I guarantee you Tony would have been fucking pissed beyond belief, but he would not have snapped the way he did when he actually found out about it and in that way.
So, all in all, yeah.
Nat was right.
Yet another reason that she should have been the leader of The Avengers from the start, and not Steve.
Honestly, Steve going back to be with Peggy is one of the most stupid things he (and the MCU) has ever done.
He kissed her once, started to and pretty much did get over her, buried her, kissed her niece, then went back to her.
In what fucking universe does that make sense??
Not to mention all of the bullshit he pulled for bucky, just to leave him in an unfamiliar world, because lbh, he's not fully used to it either, basically alone (like Steve was) to go back to Peggy, while Bucky was getting tortured at that time.
This is what makes me believe that wasn't really him.
Oh yeah, most of the characters, minus most of the women, are 100% flawed and can be problematic.
Like, I love Tony, but he's not perfect (when truly nobody is). But I still love him, bc he has a personality and some of, if not the best growth out of all the guys.
So, T-shirt, jacket, hat! Whatever you want!
Welcome to the club!
