Oh no, 5 minutes to closing!

I've updated the original Marty McFly found in the LEGO Dimensions game and the Delorean Time Machine 21103 set with different hair, legs, a new puffy vest, and a third-party watch.

Some LEGO fans loathe third-party accessories and prints, but I love them.

My favorite thing about Junepei visually is that every time they show up Akane is wearing a different version of the same outfit and Junpei has drastically changed his aesthetic.

Escape room time? Akane is wearing a sweater and leggings. Same haircut. Maybe accessories? Slight floral motif? Cozy. Muted colors. Sweater big enough to hide a secret weapon in.

Junpei is cosplaying Marty McFly, looking camp right in the eye, several layered jackets, capri jorts, bi pride vans, now he’s emo, leather jacket, black t shirt, faded jeans, messy hair, apocalypse happens, cowboy time, bolo tie, slicked back hair, apocalypse: survived. Divorced.

Nendoroid Back to the Future Doc Brown and Marty McFly with the Jada Toys R/C DeLorean.

Doc is here! This is the 1955 version of Doc in a very faithful reproduction of his outfit during the clocktower scene at the end of the first movie, and the end of the second movie, and the beginning of the third movie... He comes with two face plates (:D and D:), extra gloved hands, his 1955 TV set and two cardboard screens to put in the TV, one static and one of '85 Doc explaining how the time machine works. (They actually provide you with two of each screen, in case one gets lost or damaged. They are only cardboard...) The TV doesn't have a stand, it's just the set and the rabbit ears, so I placed it on a tiny cardboard box to elevate it a bit.

The goggles on Doc's shocked face plate aren't removable, so they can't be put on his smiling face. Doc's front hair piece is also a softer plastic to accommodate the straps of the goggles, unlike Marty, who has rigid plastic for both pieces of his hair. Because of how Doc's hair is styled, the seam between the front and back hair pieces isn't able to be hidden as well as Marty's and is more noticeable. The straps also stick out enough that the front hair piece won't lie completely flush with his face, which is a bit of a bummer.

"ONE POINT TWENTY-ONE GIGAWATTS?!"

For some reason, the rabbit ears for Doc's TV set are completely separate and not attached to the TV. (I think this is so there's room for Marty's camcorder to be placed on top, like in the movie.)

"There we go. Perfect!"

"I dunno Doc, I'm not sure Dad'll be convinced I'm an alien like this. Maybe the radiation suit would work better?"

These two are definitely a lot of fun. They don't come with a ton of accessories but the ones they do have work well, especially if you have both of them. Doc screaming at his TV while a confused Marty holds the camcorder is how I have them posed on my shelf. c:

Have you ever thought about how Marty would adjust to his family's financial situation in the Lone Pine Timeline? I mean, based on what we saw in the Twin Pines Timeline, the McFlys weren't very well off, and I can imagine what a shock it would be to someone. I can picture Marty panicking a little, still stuck in money-saving mode/survival mode.

Hmm, I've actually never thought about this before. And while I'm sure Marty has enough things on his plate in terms of adjusting to his new timeline, I can see the financial situation coming into play eventually.

I think it's one of the IDW comics ("Who is Marty McFly" maybe??) that sort of makes note of how well to do the Lone Pine McFlys are when Marty is about to ask his parents something and Linda says something to the effect of "What could he possibly ask them for? He's got everything already!" Which says pretty clearly that Marty--at least the Marty who was raised in that timeline--lives a sort of pampered lifestyle. Not necessarily spoiled, because George and Lorraine seem like the type to try to raise their kids to be decent people/not take things for granted, but Dave, Linda, and Marty definitely have had it easy most of their lives.

And so, for a Marty who's only ever lived in in an environment where money was likely tight most of the time to suddenly be dropped into a new life where his family is so well off that they have the means to just...buy him that brand new truck he wanted (and have Biff working for them to take care of their cars!), would be quite the shock.

I think Marty would enjoy this new, comfortable lifestyle, but I also don't think it would ultimately have that much of an impact on him? I mean, I mostly see Marty as a pretty simple guy who doesn't need a whole lot to make him happy. Especially since his room ends up looking exactly the same from what we can see--no additional fancy guitars or skateboards or stereo systems etc. I think Marty's just like, "Give me my puffy vest and my chocolate on my nightstand and my mad scientist best friend, and I'm good."

It's funny actually to imagine Lone Pine George and Lorraine as being parents who love to spoil their "baby" and Marty just. Not being particularly impressed. Maybe they ask him what he wants for his birthday or Christmas and are like, "Hey, we can get you a new guitar! Maybe some nice accessories for your truck? Oh, want to take a trip somewhere??"

Meanwhile, Marty is sitting there in his worn out, scuffed up sneakers, wearing the same outfit he wears like every day, a can of Pepsi clutched in his hand, and he's like, "Um...I'm good, thank you. :)))"

Doc Brown, Marty McFly, and Time Machine

So this was a toy that I wasn’t expecting to like. 

Playmobil is not a toyline that I have even thought about since I was like 3 or 4 years old.

In fact, until they released the Ghostbusters Playmobil line back in what, 2017? 2018? I don’t recall I didn’t even know they were still around!

But yes, Playmobil has apparently several licenses for certain IPs, and in 2020 they released the ‘Back to the Future” DeLorean with Doc Brown and Marty.

Assembly & Stickers:

Playmobil is, in a way, similar to LEGO where you have to assemble the toy before use. Unlike LEGO however the toy is build. I suppose more like a model in that case.

It was a fun, but simple build.

However I’m not a huge fan of stickers, and some of them required tweezers in order to get them in place.

Doc Brown & Marty McFly & Einstein:

Let’s start with the figures before moving on to the main course.

So, how do I describe the two Playmobil figures? They’re pretty basic, like more basic than Lego Men.

Simple 7P figure, swiveling head, shoulders, wrists, and hips.

No detailed faces, just brown dots for the eyes, and smiley faces, and DOC

Doc Brown is wearing his radiation suit with some nice, painted detail, he wears two watches (removable) and bely with a hook for his tool kit.

Marty is has a bit more additional clothing than Doc, the vest is a separate piece over the body, and the wrist cuffs are removable.

Einstein is a dogo. His head and tail swivels up and down, and he looks happy.

Time machine:

This toy has no business being as awesome as it is.

Not a fan of this black paint splotch on the fender. I’m pretty sure if I use an exacto-knife I cold probably scrape it off, eventually.

Marty, and Doc sit (mostly) well inside the DeLorean. I say mostly because the steering wheel is a bit too big, and it’s sometimes difficult getting the legs and feet to due a limited clearance issue.

On a side note, I would have liked this toy to be compatible for the Super7 BTTF figures, but then again it’s not Playmobil’s responsibility to cater to other toy lines. But it would have been nice is all I’m saying.

Hover feature:

As a bonus The time machine does have its hover mode, as seen at the end of the first movie, and featured heavily in part II. The only thing it’s missing is Mr. Fusion.

Flipping the time machine upside down you’ll notice that each wheel has a catch. Release the catch and you’ll  be able to flip the each wheel to the hover mode, and lock it into place.

Electronics:

Place two AAA batteries

Accessories:

The time machine set came with a lot of stuff, aside from the Marty, Doc, and the DeLorean.

-Shielded case

-Uranium and handles

-Camera 

-Skateboard (with extra wheel)

-Remote control

-Tool kit

-Lanyard

-Lightning rod

The only item which I think should have included in the set is Mr. Fusion that can be placed over the reactor core.

Final Thoughts:

It’s Playmobil...A toyline for young children and this ‘Back to the Future’ set is amazing!

I really regret never having bought the Playmobil Ghostbusters Ecto-1 now...

I think I’ll buy the Knight Rider set.

also one nice thing about going home is the thrift stores are honestly way better there lol i think its bc theres a lot more college aged kids bc of the bigger univeristy+another university+various colleges for trades and the arts, etc (or at least thats what my dad says)

but also i wanna maybe collect some monster high but i aint paying the prices people ask for online lol... 

ive gotten 2 from the thrift shop there, including a mostly complete Skelita from the Scaris, City of Frights line... shes missing her suit case but she has her stand and all her accessories and clothes, and only a little colour rubbed off on her hands (apparently a problem with her being pure white+having a cheap colourful skirt), and whoever had her before left some of her packing on even (her necklace is still elasticed on, and she has plastic around her hips to help keep volume in the skirt bc of her mold) and shes just soooo cute i love skeletons and the sugar skull stuff is so pretty ;;;;

but yeah i would like to see about getting more in the future, tho definitely not all of them just the ones that interest me lol i also have a venus mcfly trap but she doesnt have shoes or her vines, and the dress she has on isnt hers (its part of cladweens outfit from the 13 wishes line)
