Watched the ITV version of the concert - managed to avoid my face being visible at all, 10/10

As I predicted, the lack of crowd energy for Above the Noise did come across, though they tried REALLY hard to edit it away. Seeing the crowd jumping and screaming for the first half hour and then dead still ... very funny to me.

Weird to cut what I'm damn sure was a 3 hour set down to one hour and STILL include 2 songs from Above the Noise ...

Then they skipped everything straight to Red????? I still have half an hour to go and I'm very confused.

What Happened To Your Band? - Tom’s Version

The breakup had given Tom the chance to work on more of his books which he was grateful for.

Sure, it was hard, but Tom got through it.

Gi had been a big help.

When Tom came home after that meeting, there was an air about him which sucked the lief out of the space around him.

Hell, even his kids noticed.

It sucked.

Giovanna put the kids to bed after she had sent Tom upstairs for a shower, telling them “Daddy’s just tired. He’ll be okay.”

She knew it was a lie.

So did the kids.

Tom crawled into bed that night and right into Gi’s arms.

He hadn’t meant to cry. But he was just so tired.

Tired of the fighting. Tired of the pointless pettiness. Tired of all of it.

He loved the guys. He loved McFly.

But he wasn’t sure if it was past tense loved, or present tense love that he felt. Had his feelings diminished?

The following weeks slowly got better as he developed a routine.

When his manager had even reached out to him about organising a meeting to discuss writing more books, he immediately agreed without hesitation.

However, this is where he fell at the first hurdle.

He wrote the books with Dougie.

Fuck.

He couldn’t do that.

He needed to write without him.

His agent drafted an email to send to him to ask if he would sign away writer’s rights to Tom so that he could keep writing without him.

Dougie’s reply had hurt Tom more than he had expected.

There was no message, only his scrawling signature next to his name.

Dougie had signed away his rights.

Shit. He really did it?

Tom was in disbelief.

It was hard to move on from that. The contract that had previously bonded the two men together was now broken. Severed. Destroyed.

Now there was no reason for the two to ever speak.

He was completely alone.

His manager thought that writing the books might help him. If he could do something productive that had a physical end result at the end, he would be able to see his progress.

The first book he wrote following Dougie’s departure from the franchise was The Dinosaur That Pooped a guitar, which followed Danny as he learned guitar and fell in love with music, the same way Tom did.

It helped him.

The next few books told his favourite memories of being in McFly.

The Dinosaur That Pooped an Egg – Danny Jones and his iconic conviction that eggs were in fact, vegetables.

The Dinosaur That Pooped a Hotel – Tom and Danny writing Room on the Third Floor.

The Dinosaur That Pooped a Birthday Party – the 21st Birthday shows.

And finally, The Dinosaur That Pooped my Brothers.

Because that’s what McFly is… or was… for Tom.

The guys were his brothers.

Harry, Danny and Dougie were his family.

Sure, the books helped him release his thoughts and give him a sense of catharsis, but it wasn’t enough for Tom.

He needed his brothers back.

But how would he do that?

None of them were on speaking terms anymore.

It hurt Tom.

He knew Dougie had joined a new band, Jane Eyre’s Journal, and had even given them a listen. Sure, they weren’t his cup of tea, but Dougie seemed happy.

Danny was on I’m A Celebrity, and Tom had been watching and voting for Danny to win, which he did.

Harry hadn’t been doing anything in the public eye really, and Tom didn’t blame him.

If Tom decided to reach out to any of the guys, Harry would be a safe bet.

So that’s what he did.

Tom felt his heart begin to crack as he read the words off of his glowing phone screen.

Harry didn’t want anything to do with him.

Tom didn’t blame him in the slightest, the breakup hadn’t been easy on any of them.

Sure, Danny’s charismatic nature that was currently being shown to the nation on television was convincing, but Tom could see the way his smile didn’t quite meet his eyes.

Or how Dougie’s most recent Instagram post felt forced as he tried another mocktail at another bar.

He couldn’t read Harry over text and that frustrated him.

It felt like he didn’t even know the boys anymore. Like they were never friends.

The pain came and went in waves.

The memories began to fade as the breakup grew further and further away.

Lyrics began to slip from his mind as he hummed old McFly songs as he cleaned.

His fingers couldn’t keep up with the guitar rhythms anymore, which was strange because that had never happened to him before.

It hurt Tom deeply, but he wouldn’t let on to anyone about it.

The forgotten lyrics were the worst part.

Danny had helped him write most of them, so it felt like he was forgetting a piece of Danny too.

That’s when he realised.

The memories had begun to fade.

The once vibrant images of Danny, Dougie and Harry were turning a faded and blurry grey as time wore on.

This time, Tom didn’t try to stop the tears.

It broke him.

Losing them.

Because at the end of the day, they were brothers.

And now it’s all gone.

McFly was gone.

I've been a fan of both McFly and Busted along with their supergroup McBusted (no matter what other fans say) with me starting off as a McFly fan and rediscovering Busted since McBusted.

It was my wish for both of my favourite pop punk groups to join together as McBusted with Charlie Simpson joining them as there is something about both bands combined that makes them more awesome and it was a huge bombshell drop that Busted has crashed the McFly 21st Birthday Party show (with McFly having to slag them off during their summer shows which serves as a publicity stunt to foreshadow this) as the reveal of the Busted Vs McFly tour.

This gives me something to look forward to and something for me to focus on next year after going through anxiety this year having McFly and Busted to get back together for something fun like a spiritual successor to McBusted with Charlie Simpson, something that'll help me to get back to my blubbery, whimsical side as I enjoy watching their rivalry banter and humour along getting excited for whatever awesome things that will come out of Busted Vs McFly. I have already made a few predictions on what to expect for the tour like covering each other's songs, going head-to-head with their hits and comparing to their reality TV show appearances.

Though behind their friendly, healthy rivalry and banter, it's nice to hear that they are clearly close friends and been wanting to do this, bringing out the kid in them as said in their interviews below.

I thank McFly and Busted for enchanting my life with their music, inspiration, accomplishments and the guys themselves and I shall be looking forward to seeing them all in one show as Busted Vs McFly, something that again, gives me a reason to look forward to next year after going through stress and worry. McFly, Busted, McBusted are the things that matter to me in life.
