It’s that I count the days while I know you clearly don’t [Chorus x2] Nancy… The artist: Stupeflip is a rap/punk/french chanson trio which marked the early 2000s french music scene for being an unexpected band, promoting their music by being vulgar during TV appearances. This kind of behaviour put them into trouble with their record company and their contract got cancelled in 2005 after two albums, until they came back years after, thanks to crowdfunding. Besides their appearance as a trio, the band is mostly handled by Julien Barthélémy (also known as King Ju) who does the writing, producing and also the visual arts for the albums.

Stupeflip’s musical style is certainly various, but it also mixes absurd lyrics with a heavy load of alliterations and a constant use of sampling (in their own terms, they “pick little bits of stuff and then put them together”). Behind their gritty humor, there are sometime some heavy messages related to their hardships as an uncommon band and how their members worked in an unfair bureaucratic society (their debut self-titled album talks in great length about these subjects), but also a mysterious lore about the “Stupeflip crou”, an universe consisting of 894 members and different regions and eras (each era representing the release of a Stupeflip album). With this universe also comes a handful of characters representing Stupeflip such as Pop-Hip, a parody of pop musicians who are only in it for the money, and King Ju, the great mastermind behind the band. With each album coming out, the listener gets to know slightly more about Stupeflip but not enough to get the full picture as it’s supposed to stay in a fuzzy middle-ground. The Song: Nan?… Si? is one of the rare Stupeflip songs which talk about heartbreak and is also recognised, amongst stupeflip fans, as one of their most mature songs. The narrator, possibly King Ju, is talking about how his relationship with a woman went down and how it’s difficult for him to move on with it. Right at the beginning, Ju specifies that there won’t be any Larsen (a larsen effect is an ear-hurting audio effect you hear when you put a mic in front of a speaker) but he’ll keep the memories in his heart, just like a pacemaker. Even though they are now separated, he still thinks she’s part of his life as he probably thinks that she was the only woman he could love (this is accentuated with the metaphor of hopes locked with three locks in a bank in the first verse). In the original french lyrics, the chorus starts off with an incredible play on words. How’s it going ? How’s your life going ? can be translated as Est-ce que ça va ? Comment c’est ta vie ? but if you mix the two sentences into one you get Est-ce que ça va commencer ta vie ? which translates to Is your life going to start ? These are different questions but they all fit into the same context, which is how the narrator’s ex is living her life with another man. He still thinks about her but does she still think about him ? On top of the fact that she lives with a new boyfriend, the narrator also thinks that her life is finally off to a start and that he was nobody to her. The use of the term pickaxe for the fact the she left him, also describes the state of his heart: not destroyed, yet shattered. The second verse tells more about the aftermaths of their breakup but also memories of their relationship. The narrator remembers how her ex promised to stay faithful to him, even though she left him for somebody else. She left him but he still wants to her to feel how his life is going hard without her (and the line Now I’m not your friend, nor your lover insists on the fact that he’ll prefer to grant her a death wish than ask her to come back). The use of terms such as heavy like a tank and pressure cooker could sound as a corny way of writing rhymes, but it also shows how Ju’s speech is bold and clear to understand as he is confused by sadness. The line You see, I still do Stup but I don’t feel it anymore brings us back to reality: this song is clearly about how King Ju had a hard time with someone he loved and how it has affected his creative flow (also note the use of reversed vocals, a recurring element in Stupeflip’s music which gives a replay value to their albums). The song ends with King Ju reminding her ex that he’ll never forget the life they had together, stating that his grieving process might be eternal, and finally says her name: Nancy, making a connection to the title of the track (Nan ? Si ? means Nah ? Yes ?, two terms which contradict each other, just like how Ju and her ex are living different lives now). At the very last seconds of the song, you can hear the sound of a gun being loaded, possibly the sign of Ju wanting to commit suicide, but the track ends before you could hear the sound of a gunshot or not. As a whole, Nan ? Si ? is about how bad you can feel after someone has used you during a relationship. The simplistic choice of words, as well as some contradicting lyrics, show how the narrator is struck by sadness and tries his best to put his feelings into lyrics. With the help of an ethereal instrumental (which remixes the soundtrack of Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland in reverse), the listener is put into an intimate ambiance which is far ahead of other Stupeflip songs.

NakedToaster - The Crown Prince of Ylisse who, in defying his parents, creates a vigilante army called the Shepherds. Although they prefer using tomes and strategic wit in battle, Toaster is proficient enough in swordplay to wield the legendary blade they’ve inherited, Falchion.

Quest - A reformed criminal devoted to using his strength to protect others. But bc of his past, entering knighthood was not something he thought was ever possible until he gets the opportunity to join the Crown Prince’s ragtag army.

XYX - A mysterious phantom thief famous for accepting any job no matter how risky or impossible. He ends up joining the Shepherds after realizing a job he accepted turned out to be an assassination attempt on Toaster’s life.

Nightowl - An eccentric mage who is the first in his family to wield magic. Owl was sent to an academy to hone his skills, however his penchant for dark magic has earned him scorn from his family and peers. He joins the Shepherds after running away, leaving behind his homeland.

Salocin- Former khan of an eastern country; Salo left to travel the world with his wife, leaving his kids to take care of the throne. He joins the Shepherds after they successfully best him in a duel.

Two2- A normal citizen; their village was saved by the Shepherds against an risen attack. They end up joining despite their intense fear of war bc they just can’t standby still while innocent people are in danger. Two’s aim is only good in the heat of battle & sucks anytime else.

June- Junior pegasus knight; June joins the Shepherds after saving them in a critical moment of battle during a raid defending the capitol. She is obsessed with romance novels, particularly a handwritten novel she found about a pegasus knight who fell in love w/ her commander.

Onionthief- Curmudgeonly war priest; Onion joined the church at an early age to help make ends meet . He joins the Shepherds bc of his desire to protect the country his family lives in.

BigLady- Empress of Wyvern valley; a former pegasus knight, Lady was in a relationship with her commander but left after they were found out. She travelled across the continent before saving a duke from a wyvern by taming it. The duke hires her as a personal sentry for his valley.

SocietyBoy- Leader of the Grimleal; He inherited a cult that worships the Fell Dragon, Grima. He is also the former husband of the MC. The Grimleal, in trying to resurrect the Fell Dragon, conduct painful & horrible experiments on themselves and others to create a vessel worthy enough to raise their god. SB, a coward through and through, instead subjects his spouse to the experiments instead. He never expects the mark of Grima to ever manifest on them but ofc it does 🤡. MC tho runs far away before he can figure out about the mark.

Big Marty- Divine Dragon; an all powerful dragon that has protected humanity on many occasions before falling into an ancient slumber. At one point in history, he is awakened by a Hero and creates a blood pact to seal Grima for 1,000 years. The Hero would become the first Exalt of Ylisse and ancestor to Toaster’s family line.

Blooming Panic Boys Parenting Headcanons

Hello everyone! So, I binged this game over the New Year’s weekend and I’m OBSESSED. Sooooo expect a LOT of BP content coming your way. Here’s the first dose with headcanons for the boys’ thoughts on kids and being parents (minus societybozo and salo). I wrote this with a fem!MC who can have kids. Please let me know if you want a more neutral version!

Is floored that you want kids with him

“Are you sure, angel? Not that I’m not happy to have them! I just…”

He didn’t think he’d make it out of his gang or prison alive

Let alone meet someone who loves him the way you do

Or that you’d actually want to have kids with him

There would be a lengthy discussion about it where you guys go over all the positives and negatives

But if you’re in a place where that’s what you want, he’s happy to give it to you

I mean he’s really happy to, if you know what I mean ;)

Laughs and cries when he sees the positive pregnancy test, kissing you all over and hugging you to death

Does fret over the idea that his kids will hate him for his record, so be sure to reassure him that they will adore him

Because they absolutely will

If you have a girl, she’s the quintessential daddy’s little girl

If you have a boy, he will try to emulate his dad as best he can

If your child is nonbinary, they’ll still love their dad to pieces because Quest is the most supportive, understanding dad ever

Needless to say, the man is sobbing when he finds out your pregnant

He’s going to be a dad???

He didn’t think he’d make it to 25, let alone meet someone who wanted to have kids with him

Pampers the hell out of you during the pregnancy

Doesn’t matter what he’s doing, he will drop it the second you text or call him

Does freak out over the idea of being a father and fucking his kids up

Ends up talking to and bonding with Quest due to their shared fears and experiences

Which helps him calm down surprisingly well

He’s still scared, but he knows he has you and a support system

Honestly, this man is too afraid to be a parent - which is perfectly valid

Between his fear of passing on his trauma and his mental health, kids are the last thing he needs

He might be open to them later in life (like late 30s-early 40s)

But he’s also the type to prefer having furbabies instead

Would likely get involved in an organization for mentoring kids though

Doesn’t plan on it initially, but after hearing the kids’ stories and lack of support, he’s happy to step up to the plate

Best big brother ever

Supports his surrogate siblings with everything in him

Might even consider fostering or adopting as an extension of this down the line

He just wants kids to have the unconditional support and love he wished he’d had growing up

Kids adore him for his kind and flamboyant side and also his laidback demeanor

He adores their energy and creativity

Toasty

Takes him a minute to understand what you’re asking of him

Then once he does, proceeds to spit out whatever drink he might have been drinking

WHAT?!

You… want a kid with him???

Is nervous tbh

Doesn’t have that great of experiences with other kids growing up

And his parents were rather distant and hands-off

So, like owl, he’s afraid of passing on his trauma

However, he is more than willing to listen

And after some deep talks about it, he would be open to it

Resolves to be the most loving, doting father ever

Will be strict on them here and there, but his kids basically have him wrapped around their fingers lol

Is supportive and hands-on in everything that they do

At every recital, game, awards ceremony, etc.

When he finds out you’re going to have kids, he practically worships the ground you walk on

Says you’re “spoiling him” with a surprise like this

Also mindful of the kids that may have grown up like him or have fewer privileges, he sets up a trust and scholarships for kids in his field

Definitely lets his kids braid and play with his hair

And he will get on a call no matter how good or bad they look

Because he’s a proud papa who loves his children’s work

He was shocked you were even into him initially

But this is literally the man’s dream

To have a happy spouse and family???

That he can take of???

The man is through the roof

Though, he’ll try and hide it badly

Has many in-depth and detailed discussions about it

He naturally wants to make sure this a carefully planned and wanted pregnancy

Is over the moon when you tell him the result is positive

He holds back if in public, but in private, he’s kissing you senseless and thanking you for bringing joy into his life

Very dutiful husband and father that juggles work and the home

Because he refuses to let you raise a finger to help him while you’re with child

“You’re already doing more than enough work. Don’t worry, I’ll handle everything else”

Which you actually find rather sexy and make sure he knows all night long

Is a strict, but understanding parent

Reads every book he can get his hands on about parenting styles and fetal development

Asks everyone he knows with kids plenty of questions

Makes sure that his kids know that he loves them and only wants to best for them

Though not to the point where they sacrifice their health

Learns to mellow out some with kids

Yes, yes you may!

So! You, the MC, are stuck in a finance job that you hate. Your only comfort is a fantasy/romance webcomic that is going to be ending soon. But, one day, you find a mysterious link to a fan server.

In the server you meet the romanceable characters (Quest, Nightowl, Xyx, and NakedToaster) alongside others like June, the server theorist, BigLady, the server lesbian, Salo, the wise grandpa, two2, a stressed student, and Onionthief. He seems to be a fan favorite, despite not having his own route.

Without spoiling too much, the story follows the MC as they get closer to the characters and face the different challenges that pop up in each route. In classic dating sim style, there are good endings and bad endings for each character (and ouch- the bad endings)

Here is the game link if you want to read the main four’s bios! I thought Nightowl was going to be my favorite but nope-

Stupéflip, qu’est-ce que c’est que ce truc ? C'est pas n'importe quoi : ça fout le feu, fait le fou, ça t'handicape quand tu ne l'as pas. C’est un truc qui te fracasse la tête à base de caisses claires qui claquent.

C’est beaucoup de travail (comme pour un album d’Astérix).

Le CROU-stille dans ta bouche comme une cracotte ou un Granola.

Le crou qui creuse comme une pelleteuse, fait des trous dans l'crâne, tue les oreilles comme une agrafeuse.

Né en 1972, le CROU Stupéflip a pour objectif de terroriser la population et par la même instaurer une nouvelle ère... L’ère du Stup.

Composé de 894 membres, le fondateur est connu sous le pseudo de King-Ju. ( Mais aussi Pop Hip, Flip, l'épouvantable épouvantail, et Rascar Capac). Membres principaux, on peut aussi citer Cadillac (Stup, Casimor, Aqaq) et Mc Salo (Mr Michel, Jean-Paul III).

Stéphan Bellanger, fondateur a un rôle réduit en apparence : celui de simple patron de la menuiserie. Il reste néanmoins le membre le plus dangereux du Crou.

Depuis 2003 et leur premier opus, cinq albums ont vu le jour. Mélange de hip-hop, de rap, du punk, de pop, des beats electros, des cris, des sons avec un certain don pour les jeux de mots et un goût prononcé pour les déguisements.

Après 5 ans d’absence et avoir été mis dehors de leur maison de disque, le CROU annonce en octobre 2016, la sortie d’un album courant 2017. Le truc est vivant dans les têtes même s’il est cramé dans les FNAC. Pour ce faire, le groupe décide de financer leur projet via un site de financement participatif sur la base de dons des internautes avec un objectif de 40 000euros. La campagne se clôt avec 427 972 € récoltés, dont 145 000 € en seulement 48 heures, soit le record européen de levée de fonds sur Internet pour un groupe de musique.

Plus qu’un groupe, le CROU c’est une construction mathématique, un truc pataphysique qui pique comme un aspic. Stupéflip, les lapins, la menuiserie, l’ASFH… Le son est paufiné à la menuiserie et l'ASFH, Association de Stup-Fanatiques (il est formellement interdit de demander la signification du H) à but non-lucratif est interdite aux fans en toc. Ce groupement propose des solutions très radicales, un truc brutal, torture mentale, penthotal, la totale. Quant aux lapins, ce sont les adeptes du CROU et de sa stup religion.

Bien qu’il n’ait aucune actualité à ce jour, la force de leurs entités est tellement puissante que les adeptes lapins ne peuvent que leur être fidèle et de ce fait : Le Stupeflip Crou ne mourra jamais !

Manifesto pela unidade antifascista

Quem valoriza e defende o Estado Democrático de Direito acompanha, a cada dia, a maneira como o país vai sendo empurrado para o abismo, com ameaças seguidas de golpe por parte de Bolsonaro.

O que nos resta de democracia e de respeito constitucional está se esvaindo de forma veloz enquanto o fascismo avança.

Agora, diante da dupla catástrofe – a pandemia e Bolsonaro – e das eleições municipais, não podemos pensar e agir como antes. Não será outra eleição dentro da normalidade democrática.

Por isso mesmo, é imperioso que cada um de nós adie seus legítimos projetos próprios e se abra, desarmado, para uma grande concertação de todas as forças antifascistas, as quais, vale enfatizar, não se esgotam nas esquerdas.

Não é hora de fazer cálculos para 2022, simplesmente porque as eleições de

2022 estão em risco, como as vidas de todos e todas nós pela ameaça de um golpe.

O governo aposta no caos, anseia por saques, desespero popular, estados falidos, Congresso dividido, Supremo chantageado, tudo isso enquanto o fascismo assalta mais e mais as instituições.

As milícias estão a postos, segmentos policiais estão a postos, grupos se armam e setores das Forças Armadas talvez sejam sensíveis a uma eventual convocação do Planalto, mesmo contra a opinião da cúpula militar.

É urgente que cada um de nós reconheça a magnitude do desafio e trabalhe em todos os níveis, em todas as instâncias, para a formação de uma ampla frente antifascista.

Nas próximas eleições municipais é preciso a união de todos e todas em torno das candidaturas capazes de ampliar o movimento democrático e de competir para vencer, em nome da resistência antifascista. A credencial indispensável é o compromisso claro de enfrentar o fascismo em todas as suas dimensões.

Nós, cidadãos e cidadãs brasileiras, apelamos às lideranças democráticas que se mostrem à altura de nosso tempo e se empenhem na formação de um pacto antifascista.

STUPEFLIP « STUP VIRUS » (2017)

King Ju est de retour. Putain qu’il était attendu. Il faut dire que l’explosion de la campagne Ulule a traduit l’incroyable engouement des lapins qui n’a jamais faibli (les adeptes en transe). Avec « Stup virus », Stupeflip signe là un retour qui ne passera pas inaperçu. Avec sa cagoule bien vissée sur la tronche, King Ju refuse le monde adulte. Pourtant ils ne sont plus cramés dans les FNAC…

Entrer dans le Stup Monastère n’est pas une mince affaire. Après cinq années passées sous silence, King Ju était en réalité tapi dans l’ombre. Bien que la menuiserie soit à l’arrêt depuis l’excellent « The hypnoflip invasion », King Ju ne s’est jamais arrêté de prendre des p’tits bouts trucs et puis de les assembler ensemble. Même s’il a bien failli y perdre les clés du mystère au chocolat dans l’histoire.

Face au Pognon Tour terminé un soir d’août 2013, les questions demeuraient. Avec « Terrora !!! » (2012) dans les tuyaux, de nouvelles briques étaient posées : moins de guitares, plus de beats et de samples, moins de Cadillac et de MC Salo aussi, le résultat était autant stupéfiant que surprenant. Cinq ans plus tard, le constat est simple : toutes les régions sont annexées et les trois ères bouclées. Pourtant on connait bien la formule : le Crou ne mourra jamais et le truc est bien vivant dans les têtes.

En balançant The antidote après le noël des simples mortels, King Ju a d’abord dévoilé un premier contours de « Stup virus » même s’il était impossible d’en deviner précisément sa silhouette. Le morceau, fidèle à l’univers du Stup, a d’abord créé la discorde : les lyrics, et c’est implacable, fracassent. Même s’il renferme évidemment une certitude (« si tu te sens à bout, si tu as pris des coups, faut que t’écoutes le Stupeflip Crou ! »), ce premier single a peiné avec son refrain assez formaté. Un peu comme si Pop Hip voulait taper l’incruste d’entrée… alors que cinq ans plutôt, Stupeflip, vite ! donnait le ton sans laisser la part au doute. Finalement, le second single dévoilé il y a quelques jours fit office de remise à niveau : Understup, en mode « terroristes bienveillants », garde son esprit d’enfant avec Colette et son slogan « le Stup persévère, stoppera les guerres sur la Terre !! ». Une nouvelle fois les lyrics sont très bons, les basses puissantes, et le combo hip hop poisseux fonctionne. King Ju règle ses comptes et sort la grosse machine : « c’est ma nouvelle stup attack altruiste anti-médiatique / le truc qui est bandé comme un arc, tendu comme une catapulte / tu écoutes le groupe culte qui refuse le monde adulte ».

Outre ces deux premiers single connus, l’arrivée de la stup dose dans nos veines va mettre un peu de temps avant de se diffuser : « Stup virus » est donc composé de 19 titres et la place accordée aux skip est bien entendue conséquente pour favoriser l’immersion. La première écoute désarçonne. La seconde nous fait clairement vaciller. Personne ne pourra le nier : ce « Stup virus » surprend même après plusieurs écoutes. Il arrive aussi à se faire une place, bien au chaud, dans l’univers chaotique monté de toutes pièces par le Crou.

La tendance à la suppression des guitares s’est en tous cas confirmée, creusant un peu plus la fosse aux idées communes des débuts à l’exception d’un Knights of chaos bien court. Plus calme et moins hurlant, King Ju réalise peut-être que les années ont passées en favorisant un album beaucoup plus hip hop, plus oldschool aussi. Avec un rythme apaisé et des samples plus épurés, on sent bien que Stupeflip restera toujours un groupe à part dans le paysage musical français, avec ses codes, sa force de frappe et ses nombreux mystères (La seule alternative, Creepy slugs, The solution).

Entre deux doses, les effets se dissipent et King Ju peut partir loin (Stalactites) tout en laissant trop de liberté à l’insupportable Sandrine Cacheton, aka la voix de Google Trad’, qui ne nous lâche pas d’une semelle dans cette nouvelle ère. On aurait aimé plus de délires comme Fou-Fou ou l’assez drôle « aaaaaah » tenté par Pop Hip qui s’offre un dark track, synthés vintage, avec un tortueux Lonely loverz.

En manipulant tous ses stup concepts, King Ju persévère et dévoile un puissant Trou noir, en compagnie de MC Salo, qui montre un visage plus froid du Crou. Pourtant, le lapin sait redemander sa stup’dose. Crou anthem, reprend sa marche en avant et dévoile une instru entêtante au possible, scratchée, qui nous force à redescendre dans le temps. Digne des samples de l’épopée de la planète mars’ (clin d’œil à « L’ombre est lumière »), King Ju s’offre un sacré bain de jouvence. Le Stup virus se propage, « le Crou pénètre tes oreilles, il te grignote la tête, il est trop chou comme ces petites qui font de la trottinette ».

Bien conscient d’être contaminé, la boucle est bouclée en toute logique en 1993 aux côtés de Cadillac. Ode d’une jeunesse meurtrie qui ressort brutalement, 1993 frappe et te martèle la tête pour raisonner sans cesse. Comme si le temps semblait s’être arrêté sur les débuts du Crou, le track dégage une émotion incroyable.

Il est certain que cette nouvelle ère du Stup est la plus froide… et y pénétrer n’est pas une mince affaire à la première écoute. Après plusieurs excursions aux côtés de King Ju, ce « Stup virus » semble plus personnel au niveau des textes, plus oldschool… plus hip hop façon 1993 en somme. Après tout, King Ju avait clairement annoncé la couleur de son futur album sur la piste cachée de « Terrora !! » en disant que « le punk enragé, c’était fini ». Cela n’empêche pas de souligner que certains morceaux sont plus lisses que lors de précédentes stup attack, freinant la propagation de ce doux poison dans les veines des lapins…

Prendre une stup’dose, laisser agir et décrire les sensations. Libre à vous de laisser propager le « Stup virus » ou de prendre l’antidote. Dans tous les cas, le Stupeflip Crou ne mourra jamais.
