My thoughts on Revice so far

Things I like: Decent characters with potential (depending on their writing my favorite will most likely be either George, Kanata or Ortega). Ikkis and Vices dynamic is great as is the family dynamic, the tone seems to balance well between fun/episodic and serious/serialized, good pacing/structure so far, has a lot of potential to be a good show with an interesting story.

Things Im mixed on: Vice as a character. While I have enjoyed some moments with him a lot (some of his dialogue made me chuckle), he walks the thin lie between hilarious and annoying for me. It feels the writers are trying so hard to make him the next Momotaros and that bothers me a lot tbh. Also really hoping hw still stays michevious/nasty and isnt instantly redeemed after the convo he had with Ikki

The Deadmans are also something Im mixed on as well. They seem interestikg nenoygh but also I feel something is missing. Im scared this is going to be another MBJR.net situation where Im not just that invested in the villain group

Things I dont like: Aguilera being yet another female "UWU senpai sama" villain and her prob beinh sidelined very early on. Gifis himself makes me nervous as I know he will be anothee noncharacter final boss like Gamdeus or ARK. The visuals and action arent as good as w 01 or Saber as they lack that oomph. Lastly ep 2s heavy focus on action made me scared the show will just be action and not enough developement in characters or plot

Which tokusatsu characters would have invested in Gamestop and gotten rich?

my first thoughts were nico and nakadai. I can’t do all of tokusatsu but as for riders, gamer boy gai from ryuki and get rich quick boy mitsuru from the same. mutsuki probably. philip. ryouma and micchy. parad. everyone in mbjr.net

ok personal 01 pet peeve. so a lot of the 01 merch that wasn’t just rider forms and stuff instead focused on stuff for the different organizations. which like. ok. sure. makes Enough sense. and if you’re a fan of aruto and izu, or a fan of jin and horobi then thats, like, fine for you, no real problem with your hiden or mbjr.net stuff.

but as a fuwa or yua fan its just. so much more awkward. bc a) ok obviously i didn’t particularly jive with the paramilitary organization stuff from the start but also

b) both characters develop in ways that make getting aims stuff bc of them awkward beyond the first arc. like somehow yua has it a little better since the at least is back there at the end of the show... but, she uh, spends the majority of the show Not there, lol. (well i guess you could get zaia stuff for her as well. you know, if you really choose violence.)

but then meanwhile poor fuwa, despite sticking it out at aims for longer. well for one thing as soon as yua’s gone and especially after horobi’s poofed he practically ghosts aims as a whole. i do not think that this captain of aims actually realizes he could actually have aims grunts backing him up if he wanted. (he also never wears the aims combat gear past the first arc. the outfit is just Gone. except the undershirt for dubiously canon gym wear.)

but like more importantly. part of his development in the second arc is him realizing ‘oh regardless of my own will, this organization and my violence as a part of it is being used as a tool for someone else’s agenda, and this is an intentional part of the nature of aims itself. This Fucking Sucks.’ thats even before the above gets very literal, just watch 25 for the metaphorical version in very big letters. and then he not only leaves aims, but then Doesn’t return to aims at the end.

or anywhere! there’s no cutesy org merch that you could get for him that would actually make sense, he is Unmoored!

anyways. this makes specifically me very annoyed.

Wasnt G-Pen kind of different like that, like not hugely or anything but he was created to be an assistant to manga artist guy but instead of staying in that role, he was able to have his own dream of creating his own work, not reliant on manga guy. And manga guy was obviously all for it. Yeah he didnt suddenly wanna be a chef or anything, but art's what he was made for, its in his coding & pretty much the only skillset he was created with. I think thats probably the best we can expect.

g-pen doesn’t totally count for me bc he stayed focused on manga. he was built to draw manga and he still wants to do that, just with his own ideas now. he’s in a similar situation to izu who does a lot of stuff that’s probably beyond her original scope but that all technically relates to her role as the president’s secretary

in fiction where robots have their own unique personalities and their choices matter I want to see a robot who chooses to do something that they weren’t designed for and they aren’t the villain for it. mbjr.net are obviously extreme examples bc what they’ve chosen to do is exterminate all humans but there aren’t any other robots who’ve made a choice on that level
