Something Familiar
@mayhem-god
It was a surprisingly warm spring day, and Mary was spending it out tending to some of her flowers, enjoying a chance to just relax and be one with nature.
She hadn’t set up any appointments that day, and certainly hadn’t made any other plans, perfectly content to just be at home alone.
But, it was her birthday. While she didn’t mind being alone, perhaps she was feeling a bit lonely, and she found herself quietly wishing for someone to spend the evening’s meal with her. She’d even bought one of those fancy cakes from the local bakery to celebrate.
She found herself looking around somewhat distractedly as she worked and... was that black bird in the tree staring at her or...?
“Is that you, Loki?”

Oh Hello Again
@mayhem-god
Loki had apparently departed that morning. Carol had been up doing things late, and had slept in as a result. Waking up, she found no trace of the Asgardian. It looked like he’d done what he’d said he’d do, and left the ship when they’d refueled that morning.
Carol couldn’t help but feel a little twinge of sadness at seeing him go. She’d meant what she’d said -- he had been good company, despite everything.
It looked like there was only one thing left to do. Carol headed into his room to start clean-up, tugging the covers off the spare pillows and tossing them, and the towels, into a pile.
She reached for the blanket on the messy bed, giving it a sharp yank.

True to her word, Fenrir found her way to Loki’s home as soon as she was released from the task she had been busy with. Regardless of her relief she was still responsible enough not to simply drop all work in the middle of it.
She hesitated outside the door, wondering if she’d even be welcome at the time. Well, there was no way to find out other than to knock on the door. Stepping up she did just that.
Now all she could do was wait.

He’d been standing there as she worked, seething, for over an hour. 2B sunk the last metal beam deep into the ground, walking over to the pile of resources she’d salvaged.
She wasn’t made for maintenance and construction. It wasn’t going to be the best shrine...but it wasn’t the best snake. So it fit.
Finally, 2B glanced over her shoulder at the green-clad person. “Don’t you have anything better to do?”

That crow didn't go unnoticed for too long, and the next time Eneko glanced up, he caught its eye. Its green eye. He had a pretty good feeling by now what--or should he say who--that was.
"You're being oddly quiet, aren't you?"
He had been trying to do better than just constantly retreating to solitude in his suite whenever he had downtime. It’s what saw him out in the courtyard this time around to think, staring up into the sky and taking in the chatter of nearby critters nesting in the trees.

Second Rodeo
@mayhem-god
Carol Danvers was very tired.
She didn’t even really remember the planet’s name at that point -- Tulo? Tuffo? Tuloffo? -- whatever it was named, that had been the latest skirmish with the Kree. An outpost, meant to keep tabs on enemies and possible threats.
Like the refugees she’d been guiding.
It took three days, yanking open a half dozen doors, and several dozen photon blasts, but the outpost was cleared and turned into a small fortress for the refugees. Now, they had ships, supplies, first-rate defense systems, and the help of every other outpost she’d ‘salvaged’.
Carol worked hard not to let on how tired she was until she had the door to her cabin shut. Sighing deeply, wincing, she peeled off her suit and wobbled into the shower. After nearly inhaling two nutrient bars, she flopped into bed for a well-deserved rest.
Maybe she’d sleep for a day. Or two.

"Your girlfriend is weird."

"What have they done to you?" --Mayhem-God
@mayhem-god
Agony. Never before had the goddess believed such horrendous agony existed…until the Black Order had found her. Loki had abandoned her in that forest, claiming she was lying to him about her memory loss before disappearing once again. Strange to think how much simpler those times were…how she’d give anything to rewind back to that day. To shake herself and tell her how much of an idiot she was not to go after him. She knew in her heart that he believed her. If anyone could see through lies, it was the god of them. Why he still chose to run, she may never know now. Now, the days and nights blended together, and the Asgardian just wanted it all to end. She wished for nothing more than death to take her swiftly so she could find peace in Valhalla.
“Wh-Wha-” Dry, cracked lips could barely force out the hoarse question, bloodshot eyes that had once shone with a joyous blue now dull and almost lifeless as they peered out at the illusion of a worried Loki over dark circles and hollowed cheekbones. Dry blood caked along her black and blue cheek, fresh blood seeming to dye her dark chocolate colored hair red and slink out of cuts and wounds over her body. Dress torn in different places to make space for new areas to torture, wrists and ankles raw from rubbing against shackles that held her to the wall, if one was looking from a distance, they’d believe her to be dead.
“N-no…y-you…you…aren’t…r-r-real…n-never real…” Gna moaned with a stammering sob, head lolling to the side. “J-Just…stop…s-stop…let me d-die.”

She had been raised solidly in a lower class, taught to be polite but held none of the fancy manners implicit in a higher station. Her loner status often limited her in practicing anything else she might have learned since coming into Erasmus' employ. Besides, she was tired and sore.
"What would you like to know?" Icaris wasn't about to go into a life story sharing session.
She paused. "Before you ask, I never met Fenris personally." At least not that she remembered.
lunarvengeance:
Icaris relaxed slightly. She still wasn’t certain but she wasn’t wound as tightly as a lute string. It was better than nothing. Talk? About what? She hadn’t been looking for anything from him and up until a few weeks ago he hadn’t even known about her. What did it matter?
But still, she had some manners and her feet hurt from being on them all day. “Would you like to sit down then? My feet hurt so I’m going to.” Closing the window to prevent any further cold from entering the lycan walked over to the couch and sat down.
An eyebrow raised, a somewhat indignant look crossing his face at her bruqueness. He was used to his… descendents… being a bit more respectful of their originator. But she seemed to be a rather unique case, anyway.
Loki followed her over to take a seat at the adjacent chair, his knees spreading out as his hands folded in his lap.
“…I would like to know more about you, Icaris Freki, the girl who calls herself Fenrir. If I may.”

"I hear the books are better." Eneko found himself tilting his head along with the godbird, cuirous in his questions.
"Yeah... at least that's what Mom and Ghess told me..." The words stilled on his tongue for a moment, then he continued. "It's not exactly a useful crime fighting tool... I'd be surprised if it's been notated anywhere important at all."
telekinetichands:
Eneko couldn’t help the small ‘oof’ at the ‘crow’ being much denser than anticipated. Even as both of them struggled to steady themselves, he did his best to remain calm, shifting the bird’s perch more to his arm than his hand.
There was a small sigh once both were steadied, and a tilt of his head at the question. Profound? “Genetics… for both the ‘smash things with brain’ part and the ‘basically Dr. Doolittle’ one. Apparently I got both sides of the family.”
Loki’s head tilted, green eyes piercing, analyzing, as if he could see layers of things Eneko couldn’t even understand.
“I didn’t care for Dr. Doolittle. Mister Eddie Murphy is a raw talent, though.” Its head ducked, watching from another angle. “Your father spoke to beasts?”
