Crosshair sat perched upon the rocks that overlooked the shoreline. The water glowed golden as the sun started to sink into its depths, and the pinks and purples lined the horizon in shades of color that he had only dreamed of before. Further down the beach, Mayday kicked at the waves as they rippled up to the sand, sending water droplets in all directions, including all over Howzer. He couldn’t hear them, but he could deduce that Howzer was scolding him by the way he was scowling, and Mayday grinned sheepishly.
This dynamic they’ve created works. It was messy at times, all things are, but they were careful and determined. They made the best of the situations that they had been handed and landed in one another’s laps. There was a tyrannical Empire out there, and a rebellion, but they were here on Pabu. They were with family.
Crosshair cocked his head as Howzer claimed a kiss from Mayday’s lips, then laughed at something they exchanged. Their heads turned towards him, and he faltered when they each reached their hands out for him. Wordlessly, he stood and let his bare feet sink into the sand as he descended the beach to them, slipping between them seamlessly as though it was where he was meant to be all along. A smile that had become more and more commonplace tugged on his lips as he leaned into Howzer’s side and let Mayday pepper soft kisses on his cheek.
There had been hard times, some that Crosshair wished that he could trade or forget, but those times gave him the greatest gifts, and they kept giving and giving, and he still had healing to do, but he was well on his way.
The sun was setting, but Crosshair was just getting started.

He's up early to help Wrecker with some stuff around the island, starts a pot of caffe, pours himself a cup and sets out mugs for Mayday and Howzer. It's a quiet sunrise, and Crosshair enjoys the soft pinks and oranges peeking up from the water.
He relaxes even further into a hard, warm, naked chest that presses into his back, and smiles when he smells the distinct scent of spicy cologne remnants and last night's sex wafting from them. Lips kiss down his neck and Crosshair purrs.
"Howzer..."
"Mornin', babe."
Crosshair hums and fits himself to Howzer's chest. "Mayday?"
"Still asleep, but I missed you."
It's so silly. Howzer has no reason to miss him, but he drinks in the affection, and he might not be opposed to the butterflies in his stomach.

Maycrowzer Headcanons (SFW)
I'll get back to writing prompts eventually. Been a little under the weather lately with an injury that isn't healing, so I made a self-indulgent list of headcanons for my favorite Bad Batch OT3.
TW: Mentions of PTSD, alcohol abuse, anger issues, body dysmorphia, and eating disorders.
Howzer is jealous of Mayday when they first find and rescue him from Tantiss. He’ll never forget the way Crosshair forgot himself and ran into Mayday’s arms amongst the bodies littering the floor of the base. The only greeting he got was an anxious sneer when Crosshair showed up on Teth.
The threesome was Mayday’s idea. He pitches it to Howzer so casually that Howzer thinks he’s joking at first, but when he sees that Mayday is serious, he figures he has nothing left to lose.
None of them expected the outcome, especially Crosshair. No way was his luck so high that he had reconciled and found love with Howzer AND was able to rescue Mayday and be with him, too.
Moving to Pabu just seemed right. Mayday wasn’t willing t fight anymore, and he was determined to keep Crosshair safe. Howzer took some convincing, but ultimately, being where they were was what he wanted.
They build their house close to the beach. It didn’t matter much to Crosshair where they ended up as long as they were together and his brothers and sister were nearby.
Howzer, having initially been trained to be a marine soldier, loves being near the open water.
Mayday, having spent much of the last couple of years in a cold, frozen planet, like having the warmth of the sun and colors of the sunset filtering through their bedroom window.
He also has a garden in the backyard that he tends to daily. His garden becomes the island’s best source of medicinal herbs and vegetables for harvesting and Mayday is very proud of it.
Also, this man is so into Dad Rock. Sometimes he can get Crosshair to loosen up and rock out with him in the living room, but other times Crosshair comes in from shopping to see Mayday and Omega with Hunter’s old bandana wrapped around her head playing a mean air guitar.
Howzer picks up a job as security detail for the island. It makes him feel like he’s still contributing to the rebellion by keeping his loved ones and Pabu safe from the Empire. He’d heard about Tech’s brainwashing and what he did to Pabu while he was under the Empire’s control, and he vows to never let anything like that happen again.
Crosshair spreads out his time doing odd jobs for the people on the island and picks up a whittling hobby. He’ll sit on the beach with his toes in the water and a knife watching the sun move across the sky and make little trinkets out of wood. He’s rather good at it, and most residents of the island have one of his masterpieces in their houses.
But not everything is perfect in paradise.
They all have nightmares. Some of them are easier to get through than others. Sometimes, they’re bad enough that someone needs to be restrained.
The first time it happens, Crosshair clocks Howzer in the face because he thinks Howzer is a Shadow Clone that’s come for him and his family. Howzer understands, but Crosshair apologizes for weeks after the incident.
Mayday develops a drinking problem, which is to say, he gets violent and angry when he’s had too much to drink and has a habit of taking it out on Crosshair and Howzer. Howzer can handle it, but if Mayday starts in on Crosshair, Howzer makes Crosshair leave to stay with one of his brothers until Mayday calms down and sobers up.
It doesn’t happen often. Many times Mayday can have several drinks and be fine and happy or maybe even horny, but when it does happen, Howzer knows they’re in for a long night.
After two years of living the island life together, they make their relationship a marriage. They don’t wear rings. Rings can get lost or ruined or given back. Instead, they get matching tattoos of three planets, one for how they each met one another: Ryloth, Barton IV, and Coruscant. (Technically, Howzer met Mayday on Tantiss, but they collectively agreed that planet has no place in their lives or on their bodies anymore). The three planets all surround one in the center, Pabu.
Mayday has his on his chest, right over his heart, because he’s a romantic sap.
Crosshair has it on his left hip.
Howzer has his on his right calf.
When they’re a little older and the lush, island lifestyle begins to catch up with them, Howzer develops an eating disorder. His physical appearance is important to him, and he’s worked incredibly hard to maintain his physique and proportions, but age can’t help but make him softer around the edges, and he hates it.
He wakes up one morning after a few months of eating only what he needs to and working out endlessly to see himself in the mirror. He’s pleased with what he sees, unable to tell that he isn’t healthy. He’s too thin and looks frail, but he’s finally happy with what he sees in the mirror.
Mayday looks at him that morning, REALLY looks, and he sees what Howzer can’t, but Howzer is smiling in a way that he hasn’t in a short while, and he’s so proud of himself. It breaks Mayday’s heart.
(An intervention occurs, and Mayday and Crosshair do their best to keep reassuring Howzer that he’s not less for enjoying the life that he worked for).
They have family dinners once a week, usually at Hunter and Tech’s place, but sometimes at Wrecker and Shep’s house. Omega and Lyana love to cook for them (with help from Shep and Wrecker, who takes interest in it when he learns just how much you can do with food).
One of Crosshair’s favorite photos is one that Tech sneakily took during one of the festivals on the island of Howzer dancing with Omega and spinning her around. He gives a copy of the photo to her when she confides in them that she’s joining Hera’s fleet in the resistance.

kiss prompt: 🧡 kissing in bed / lazy kiss / cuddling maycrosswzer 🙏
Okay, I really leaned into the cuddling part of this prompt. There's, uh, definitely kissing, but probably not the kissing that you were wanting lmao
Also this one ended up kinda long? I just ran with it lol
Anyway, I am weak for these three and so are you so lets be weak about them together on the internet.
VERY slight spoiler for the finale for those who haven't watched it yet, but it's like, if you blink you'll miss it.
.
Just because their battle was over, didn’t mean that they were free from the nightmares that still plagued their sleep. Even life on the peaceful island of Pabu, waking up to the sound of rolling waves on golden sand, the smell of tropical fruits and freshly brewed caffe, and the warmth of being surrounded by two strong bodies wasn’t enough to chase away the terrors that lingered in the dark of night. Sometimes one of them would jolt awake, take in their surroundings, recognize that this is safe, that they are safe, and fall back asleep.
Other times, like this time, Mayday screamed, tearing his partners from their slumber and on full alert, looking frantically for the danger that was coming for them only to find that the enemy was invisible, all in his head. Not that it made the situation any less scary, especially for Mayday, who screamed louder when Howzer’s hand fell on his shoulder to try and gently wake him.
“It’s no use,” Crosshair said quietly with a frown. “He’s too far in.”
Howzer nodded, agreeing, but they couldn’t just let Mayday suffer. He laid back down, fully prepared for Mayday to reel his elbow back and fight him as he put a firm arm around his middle. A pained grunt fell from his lips, but he didn’t budge, keeping hold of him tightly even as Mayday tried to thrash.
“No! You can’t take him! Crosshair!” Mayday screamed out a sob and fought against whatever invisible force was holding him from getting to where he wanted to be.
Crosshair sighed. Mayday always blamed himself for what happened on Tantiss, for Crosshair being tortured, for losing his hand, later. He blamed himself, even if he rarely vocalized it. The metal on Crosshair’s replacement hand was cool to the touch this early in the morning as he touched Mayday’s cheek, caressed it softly. So much pain was etched into that handsome face, pain that he usually hid so well. He was the backbone of their little polycule, always holding them up, getting them involved in things around the island, insisting that they live their lives to the fullest now that they were free from the Empire’s grasp. It hurt Crosshair to see such a sturdy, resilient man crumble in his arms.
“I’m okay, Mayday,” he told him as calmly as he could. If there was still a bit of panic in his tone, he couldn’t help it, and Howzer didn’t call him out on it. “Mayday, can you hear me? Open your eyes. We’re safe. We’re home, with Howzer on Pabu.”
Another wretched sob ripped from Mayday’s chest as he lurched towards Crosshair, seemingly drawn to his voice, but not quite able to shake the night terror that gripped him like a vice. Tears spilled from his eyes as he pressed his face into Crosshair’s chest.
“You kept him safe,” Howzer whispered in his ear. “He’s alive because of you, Mayday. You saved him.”
In reality, it was half-truth. Crosshair would always insist that Mayday was the one who saved him by forcing him to confront what the Empire was doing to clones and opening his eyes to their malicious intent. However, it was on Tantiss, where they’d found Mayday imprisoned, that Mayday had fought alongside Howzer and the others to free Crosshair from being tortured again.
Howzer’s words sunk in and kept breaking through the restraints that were keeping Mayday in his nightmare. He repeated them for as long as Mayday needed to hear them, until slowly the thrashing ceased, the screaming became silent sobbing, and Mayday was back with them, back in the bed they’ve shared for over a year, back with the partners that he vowed himself to quietly one night last month. No rings, they’d decided, it wasn’t for them, but instead they had matching tattoos that bound them together. It was permanent, something that couldn’t come off while they were washing dishes or tending to the garden that Mayday kept in the backyard, glued to their skin like scars and something they wore with pride and dignity.
“Crosshair,” Mayday rasped heavily, finally allowing his body to relax and lean into the bodies around him. “Howzer…”
“Hey there,” Howzer greeted with a soft press of lips to his neck, the hand around him rubbing small, calming circles into his bare chest. His fingertips grazed the spot where Mayday’s tattoo was, just over his heart, and he could feel the rapid pulse start to slow to something more regular. “It’s okay, we’ve got you.”
“…Sorry,” Mayday apologized pathetically into Crosshair’s chest. Sorry, for making a scene, sorry, for waking them up, sorry, for not being strong enough.
“There’s nothing to be sorry for,” Crosshair soothed and dragged his fingers through the thick hair that was just starting to steak with silver.
Mayday grumbled but didn’t argue, choosing to take the comfort instead of fighting it. That was progress. Before, Mayday would double down and tell them that he should be sorry, that he needed to show constant remorse for what he allowed to happen to himself, to his men, and to them. Crosshair is glad that they’ve come as far as they have. Every small step is a victory, and it took even him a long time to come to terms with that.
He whined a little when Howzer shifted to grab a cloth to wipe his face and hid it again after Crosshair had given him several soft, reassuring kisses on his cheeks. Overall, though, this was one of the tamer outbursts any of them had.
The morning sun started to rise over the horizon, turning the sky outside of their bedroom window a deep shade of red and orange, and it blanketed their bed in a comforting light. It was a reminder that this was real, this was their reality. Soon, the sun will have risen over the water, the birds will start singing, and Batcher will be barking down the beach during her morning walk, usually with Omega, but more recently, Hunter has been the one to get up with her and watch the sun rise over the island. They would go about their days, working, contributing to the island however they could, having dinner with their family, and it was nice. It was real.
“…’M still tired,” Mayday yawned into Crosshair’s chest as they watched the morning roll in.
“Go back to sleep,” Howzer yawned into Mayday’s shoulder. It was true what they said about yawning being contagious.
Crosshair offered them both a soft, understanding smile. It was rare that Mayday slept in. He liked to be an early riser. Howzer was the opposite. This was far too early for him, and he’d only come to bed a few hours ago.
“I have watch,” he said, running a hand through Mayday’s hair, then Howzer’s, who kissed the back of it as he pulled away. “Get some more rest.”
As they drifted off, he heard Mayday murmur a quiet, “Love you.”
Howzer’s reply was much sleepier and more garbled, but Crosshair could only assume the sentiment was returned, because Howzer pulled him a little closer buried his nose in the crook of Mayday’s neck. Long after he knew they were both asleep and the sun was now fully exposed above the sea, Crosshair gazed upon them and breathed a sigh of contentment.
“Love you, too. Both of you.”

headcanons: Cobalt Blue plus whichever other 1 question about them you're the most excited to talk about, for maycrowzer please <3
I could have gone on with this forever honestly. But here is the clipped version.
Cobalt Blue: (What do they fight over? How long do fights last?) + Azure Blue: What would they do if the other got hurt?
.
Most times, arguments were small and only lasted a few minutes, complete with apologies and talking things out. Things like Crosshair leaving his lighter in his pocket to be accidentally washed, or Howzer’s unique ability to have a pair of used socks in every single room of the house were commonplace little nags.
Sometimes, the arguments were a little more heated and raised some concerns. Many of these stemmed from Crosshair’s stubbornness and Mayday’s inability to keep his cool after a few drinks. It was a problem, and they were working on it, but many of those nights ended with Crosshair getting his feelings hurt and Mayday loudly yelling about the war, what he lost, and lamenting that Crosshair would never understand because he still had his squad, and how he almost botched that, too.
Those were the nights that Howzer would quietly send Crosshair up the street and into Upper Pabu to spend the night with Hunter and Tech and Omega. In part, he knew that Crosshair would bite back like a wounded pup if given the opportunity, but in reality, it was to keep Crosshair from seeing how far down the rabbit hole Mayday would fall in his inebriated state. He didn’t need Crosshair to see Mayday breaking down, didn’t need to see how Mayday would sob and scream, how Howzer would have to restrain him sometimes until Mayday came back from the nightmares he was reliving. Howzer would fetch him in the morning and bring him home, and Mayday would be awake with guilt in his eyes and apology at the ready.
Crosshair understood more than he ever cared to let on, though, and Howzer wasn’t always an innocent party.
For three weeks, Howzer had been gone on a mission, and for three weeks, Crosshair hadn’t slept well, tossed and turned, even with the comfort of having Mayday at his back, arm wrapped around his middle to keep him grounded. It wasn’t that Crosshair didn’t appreciate it, but it wasn’t the same as being surrounded, having one of his lovers at his back, the other in front of him, one breathing into his neck, the other on the top of his head. It was always a surefire way to ensure they were both here, alive, safe.
Every time Howzer got on that damned ship with Echo, he feared it would be the last.
The fear almost came true in the middle of the night twenty-three rotations later, when Echo had commed them from the landing pad. “Come quickly. It’s Howzer.”
Crosshair and Mayday were there in record time, followed by Hunter and Tech, then Wrecker and Shep. Howzer was laid out on the ground, and Crosshair skid to the halt and dropped to his knees upon seeing him.
“Howzer…? Howzer?!”
“What happened?” Mayday questioned, falling on Howzer’s other side.
“We took blaster fire trying to escape,” Echo explained. “He was right behind me. I thought I’d gotten the ramp up in time, but—”
Echo points to the body in the ship. “One snuck aboard and it was a knife fight. I barely got us here. He slashed through our systems.”
“Leave that to me,” Tech volunteered and adjusted his goggles.
Crosshair and Mayday examined Howzer’s wounds. There was a lot of blood, and Echo did his best to dress the wounds, but there was only so much he could do. Their hands met, and Crosshair clung to him.
“We have to help him,” Crosshair sobbed, and Mayday nodded, pulling him close over Howzer’s still body.
“We will,” he assured, “but we have to let them work.”
“Come, lets get him comfortable. Wrecker, fetch the healer, love.” Shep instructed.
,
A long night and most of the day saw Howzer unconscious, but stable. His wounds would heal, but he would have several nasty scars to add to his collection.
Neither Mayday nor Crosshair cared as long as he was alive.
“Hey,” he croaked, coughed, and took the water Mayday offered him. On the other side of the bed, Crosshair was sound asleep, holding tightly to his hand.
Howzer smiled, moved to wake him, but Mayday shook his head.
“Let him sleep. He was up all night.”
Nodding, Howzer put his other hand back in his lap, letting Mayday hold it. “Sorry I scared you.”
“That’s an understatement,” Mayday chuckled. “I’m glad you’re home, you’re safe.”
Howzer smiled, but there was more that Mayday had to say.
“…No more missions, Howzer.”
The captain blinked. “What? But—”
“No. More.” Mayday’s reply was clipped. “I get it. You want to help. It’s in our blood, but we came here to settle down, Howzer, to get away from the fight. Every time you walk out that door and onto a ship, Crosshair doesn’t sleep, and when he does it’s fitful. He cries most nights, you know. He’s terrified that he’s going to wake up and learn that you aren’t coming home. …We both are.”
Howzer frowned but squeezed Mayday’s hand. Maybe it was for the best this way.
“…No more missions,” Howzer agreed with a smile. Spending the rest of his life on a beautiful island with two amazing lovers was a pretty good consolation prize for his service, after all.

💜 Mayday/ Howzer
Will I ever tire of them? No, not likely.
Set in the Maycrowzer AU.
This dynamic between them is new. Loving Crosshair is easy, something they’re both old hats at despite the short time they’ve individually been with him, but between them, Mayday and Howzer, they’re still taking baby steps. Having three clones in a bed isn’t hard, because clone culture is piling brothers into one bed and reassuring one another that they made it. This, they’re used to, even if it’s been a little while since any of them have had a squad, but it’s easy enough to fall into the same patterns as they had during the war. Affection, however, is newer. Falling in love with one another? It’s hard, but not as hard as Howzer expects it to be. Mayday is kind, compassionate, loud, mischievous, and there’s something about feeling the coarse scratch of a beard on his skin when they lay tangled in the sheets, but the romance between them is slow. So, it comes as a little bit of a surprise when Mayday wanders into the kitchen mid-afternoon several weeks into settling into their shared home on Pabu and steals a kiss from his lips, quick and chaste, as though it’s the most normal occurrence. Howzer gasps, partly because it’s so quick that he doesn’t get to reciprocate, but mostly because Mayday is smiling at him sweetly. “What? I can’t kiss you?” He asks, but Howzer can see that he’s purposely trying to sound teasing, because he’s afraid that he really can’t, that he’s stepped over some line. Howzer leans up and returns the kiss, a little harder, a little longer, and he grins with something giddy in his eyes when Mayday chases his lip. “You can always kiss me.”
