This could be purely anecdotal, and I am only referring to binary trans people who want to medically transition, but is it just me or do transgender men take longer to reach gender affirming milestones than trans women? In my real world experience, most trans women come out, and within a few months are on hormones long enough to have noticable changes, and get legal documents changed within the first year or two of transition. For trans men I know, it's taken years to even start hormones and longer than that to switch legal documents. I also know much less trans men that have even gotten changed legal documents than trans women.
I know this is partially because testosterone is a controlled substance and estrogen is not, but I wonder if there are other factors...
