i’ve been fucking around with funny designs and stuff lately and kind of made this little weird universe about dreams and places you shouldn’t be in

Played the Last of Us when I was a kid and now I watched the show for the first time and I gotta tell you what this has spawned is a TLOU au in Fmab where Riza and Edward are Joel and Ellie. Al is dead. Blood seal broke trying to save Ed from the infected swarming them. Ed is immune because he did human transmutation. Actually in this au it isnt a fungal evolution type infection per se as much as its a bioalchemy experiment on fungi gone severely wrong so the only people immune are those who did human transmutation because it's fun, chimeras can get infected but it doesn't really spread like it does with humans so they have a longer time before they turn or maybe they need to get bit multiple times to turn. Homunculi ofc are immune because of the ph stone. Want to say that they use a gotcha system where if they get bit one of the souls in the ph stone croaks and not them. Absolutely same deal with Mr I swallow ph stones like a whore Kimblee who doesnt broadcast he has a ph stone so ppl think he's legit immune and they're hunting this mf down for a vaccine.

The author that brought you gnarly scenes such as anything in Black Honour also brings you a scene where Maes has to shoot baby Elicia because she got infected and went wild trying to kill Ed :D

Berthold Hawkeyes house is the best place to be. That man made a bunker decades before anyone thought smth like this might ever happen.

Riza and Ed run into many different folks on their way to figure out what the fuck is happening (this is like set in the 1st month since shit hit the fan so double the chaos - think trains getting derailed because of people going crazy and trying to eat each other - absolute pandemonoum purge type shenanigans where everything is new and the government is losing its grasp on the people)

Riza and Ed are trying to find Roy Mustang whom they only heard is somewhere up north east. Maybe in Central City (it hit it here first and hardest - overrun with infected)

They sent most of the State Alchemist to try and take care of this. But some like General Grand and Colonel Mustang got orders to take care of the infected and make sure it didnt spread - ie theyre the bombs in this au eyy it wasnt enough to do this shit in Ishval guess you need to do it again but in towns with ppl u genuinely know :D !! Horrific shit. Reason why Riza isnt with Mustang and doesnt know where he is.

Radios are down and they need to reastablish some towers that were knocked down.

(Fort Briggs for example in this au would be 0 infected because they kill the infected imediatelly sucks to be u but they are preserving their numbers and they too are in a giant bunker of sorts)

The homunculi are very pissed off about this because you cant use the infected as a soul for their big transmutation circle so Father has put them on Top priority to get to the bottom of this because they are running out of TIME.

Just for shits and giggles. And this rly is the cursed timeline: instead of splicing his daughter with her dog for his recertification exam, Shou Tucker tried doing a lil bit of a bioalchemy experiment with fungi :) because he's such a fun guy eyyy

Riza and Ed are in CC and Riza gets stabbed so this is now Ed's solo arc trying to find medicine for her and anyone to help. He takes her to Christmas dive bar to recuperate. Not a soul to be found there. Everyone is fleeing Amestris. Folks in Resembool are going to Ishval because they know nobody is there in the ruins. Ed doesnt know if Pinako and Winry are even alive but he hopes they are. Someone has to be in this mess.

Ed doesnt rly want to use his alchemy because the more he does the easier it is for these infected to find him. And while he is immune he doesnt fancy losing more limbs to these bastards.

Riza looked super unwell. Ed doesnt know if hed be able to navigate any of this by himself. He doesnt know if anyone he knows is still alive. She is his lifeline at the moment and this means he has to save her. Especially if Mustang is still alive. They gotta meet him and they gotta succeed.

Ed knows the hospital is too far away. But theres got to be a pharmacy nearby or smth he can raid. He has to.

But all of them have already been raided. And the infected are growing in numbers. Yet Ed refuses to go back. He can't let Riza down. He can't let someone else he loves die protecting him.

Through a series of dastardly events, Edward winds up finding a shackled man trying to break free from some infected chimeras. The man is screaming for help and crying and really being pathetic. Ed is the people's alchemist so he will help you pathetic crying man! Winds up saving him. Winds up getting mugged because the seemingly infeccted chimeras and the man are in on a con together to survive.

Edward fights them. Gets overpowered due to numbers. "MOTHERFUCKERS!!!"

Anyway after some more back and forth Ed learns this guy is some big shot alchemist from Ishval and asks him if he knows Riza Hawkeye. He needs medicine for her.

The chimeras are all like sorry kid we dont have any medicine.

Kimblee, with a ph stone in him: I could heal her with some alchemy. Our party would benefit from a sniper.

So Riza gets saved via ph stone. Wakes up and sees Kimblee. Imediatelly takes a gun and tries to shoot him.

Especially when she sees his bite marks!! Motherfucker STEP AWAY. Hes like I got these weeks ago!! Liar! No, really! I'm immune! And I'm the Fuhrer President himself *cocks gun*

Fun times lay ahead on their search for Roy Mustang.

yet another civilian dabitwice au where jin gets arrested early in his robbing career (perhaps by endeavor idk) and hits his head something fierce. he inexplicably gains the ability to see spirits, which honestly terrifies him. we'll say the clone purge happened early, and that they chock it all up to that event.

meanwhile, touya has a mutant quirk. he produces a very difficult to see flame that is not hot to touch, but maybe even a little cooling. this obviously is of no use to endeavor and so he is promptly ignored (and views himself as an irredeemable failure, and is very angry about it)

jin volunteers his time at a shrine or small temple or smth. mostly because spirits (at least "bad" ones) don't come around the premises. it's a nice little break from being chased down the street by the scariest looking fucker he's ever laid eyes on while bystanders silently label him crazy and look elsewhere

no idea why touya would be there. maybe endeavor invited him, as traditional as he is, as part of a larger outing in which he's trying to make up for past behavior.

except jin immediately notices that this guy has a parade of spirits clinging to him. jin is skeeved out at first and keeps his distance. through watching, jin realizes that the spirits there aren't actively malicious, but with so many around, they're kind of zapping this guy's energy. guy's got bags under his eyes and kind of underweight, if he had to guess.

he feels bad. but there's nothing he can really do. nobody believes him anyways. still, maybe if he prayed or something? jin's never had one just follow him around before. but he feels like if he can get the guy to do something as small as that, maybe it would help. he doesn't seem interested so far, only going through the motions (and staring at endeavor whenever he's talking... if looks could kill)

WELL. that conversation doesn't go so hot. while endeavor is distracted, jin tries to strike up some convo, but it ends in touya getting irritated and snapping at jin. and out of nowhere are these ghostly flames that flare up. immediately these spirits are diving for them. the flames briefly engulf them and they're immediately gone. all of them... poof.

so jin's just standing there in silence, in awe of what he's just seen. and he finally asks the only thing he can: how did you get rid of them? and touya gets annoyed because he thinks jin is playing some sort of game. he can't see the spirits, after all. then jin asks if he feels different, better even? and touya's really taken aback by that because wtf? he simply ignores jin and leaves

and a month later he comes back. bc what jin asked him won't get out of his head. and he notices if he just uses his quirk every once in a while, he sleeps better. he's not always so hungry and yet unable to eat. it's not so hard to get out of bed.

and that's their origin story. how they became some sort of weird ghost and demon hunting duo. jin the eyes and touya using his weird ghost fire to purify spirits and push them into the afterlife.

also they run a podcast where they tell about their stories, about the hauntings and past crimes they've inevitably solved. people obviously think it's an act/bit they're doing, but they get sorta popular anyways.

Well anyways, they're based off the seven sins, so by order it's Pride (one in red), Wrath (orange), Lust (yellow), Envy (green), Greed (blue), Sloth (indigo), Gluttony (purple)

Ofc I do have names for em, so

Pride - Superbia / Elmara  

Wrath - Ira / Katarina

Lust - Lussuria / Luka

Envy - Invidia / Yvonne

Greed - Aviditas / Wilhelm

Sloth - Desidia / Percival

Gluttony - Gula / Jacob

My first concept for them was that they got reincarnated and such y'know, in their past lives they really were good people until smth really bad happened that they made a deal w the devil. But one of the angels (angels here have the Zodiac theme going) said that it's unfair for them who were good people that were just tempted by the devil, so they were given a second chance to atone and to show that they really aren't as bad as they seem

My second concept for it is that Elmara, or rather Superbia, despite her pride, saw just how much the others suffered in hell, so she fought tooth and nail to get out of it w the kids and start a new life in the human world

And my last concept and the one I'm trying to stick w, is that Elmara is the Goddess of Darkness who created the world of Statera, with her brother, the God of Light, Mateo. But smth happened between the two that they ended up waging war against each other, which ended up w them both banishing and cursing each other in the world of Statera, forced to live w the people they created. Good stuff happened to Elmara, as she watched the world flourish and thrive for centuries, and found peace in living with them. But for Mateo, he suffered, saw just how cruel the people they created could be. Saw just how much little they care for each other and for themselves. He believed it was the darkness that Elmara had brought, and he promised to himself he's purge the darkness of Statera himself.

Elmara on the other hand, made a family of her own, but sadly her husband wasn't,, really that nice, didn't really liked their kids, even to the point that he burnt Percival's face. He's dead now at least so hey, but bc of that Elmara grew paranoid, especially after she found out her ex was a devoted believer of the God of Light, her brother. And yeah, she just became more and more wary, terrified at what would happen if her brother did find out that she's still alive. She has hopes that maybe they'd go back to how they were before, when they were still close, but the more and more followers his brother has, she fears that the only way to end this dispute w him is to kill him

And yeah more shit happened the more followers her brother drew in, and she knows she can't protect her kids all the time, she can't be w all of them all the time, so she decided to reveal to them that she was one of the creators of their world, and thus they too have the same powers as her and yeah they just try to stop Mateo and his rampage and his own paranoia bc my guy this man needs therapy the most

im so fucking mad

so i have access to three bosses currently and i can't beat any of them. nor do i like them enough to want to keep trying.

there's this lady who kinda reminds me of isidora but worse. because a lot of her attacks can be parried but not all and its kinda hard to figure out which ones you can parry and which ones you can't because it doesn't follow the rules of isidora's fight. and there's no walls on the side of her arena so if you fall you die instantly. she's the aggressive kind of boss who chases you and has very short openings. i usually struggle against these types of bosses but especially here because i don't like her.

then there's this guy who seems like??? a blacksmith?? but he also doesn't have any dialogue and his attacks are pretty erratic. i think he's probably the easiest of the three i can fight right now, i got close to beating him a few times but he just isn't dying for some reason. some of his attacks are also really hard to parry or avoid, and i also just don't like the fight. at all. he does lead to a very very very important upgrade though ugh.

and lastly, there's the one i'm mad about. this boss is so fucking cool, he's in a great area, he looks cool, his music is great, he really fucking reminds me of my favourite boss in blasphemous 1. except. he has three fucking phases of which i hate two. IT'S SO FUCKING HARD. the first two are easy individually but then in the third it's just both of them at the same time and it's soooooo fucking hard when these attacks don't mesh together at all and you can't fucking avoid theeeeeeeeem.

and like. the game is being kinda stingy with upgrades. movement upgrades are fine, they come at the right time and i love the platforming. but so far i got one fervour upgrade which is not a lot considering the fact that death is much more punishing here. as in, after you die and you recover the guilt fragment, you don't actually recover all of your guilt and you gotta go to an npc to purge all of your guilt periodically. WHICH IS A FUCKING STUPID SYSTEM WHY THE FUCK

i also only got one additional flask, and two health upgrades which i had to look up because they were in annoying ass spots. by the way the game has a lot of instances where it just looks into a room with waves of enemies. when you get items for it i don't mind, but sometimes you don't even get anything it just happens in normal ass rooms and i don't get it it's so fucking annoying.

and most of all, i haven't found any weapon upgrades. i even looked them up and turns out, none of them are available until i beat at least one of these bosses. WHAT IN THE NAME OF FUCK. i'm even unable to use the weapon i like against these bosses because it barely does any damage. i guess the reason people are finding this game so easy is bc everyone uses the flail but i don't like it??? it's hard even when using the sword, BUT WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING THREE WEAPONS WHEN THEY'RE SO UNBALANCED

maybe i should wait for patches or smth idk, but that could take years and by then i'll probably be spoiled about everything. i'm just so frustrated rn like i wanna love it but all of these things are so much more annoying than anything in the first game. and like i said previously, i have yet to come across an area or boss i love, so basically the only thing i truly love about this game at the moment is the platforming :'(
