Possible dialogue in Season 4
Paxton: Coach, I can explain.
Coach: Son, I know you used to be a student here and I know Devi used to be your girlfriend. Hell, I stood in that hallway gobsmacked when the two of you debuted as a couple. But something tells me had I come in here a couple seconds earlier, Iâd have to fired you.
Starting now you're on probation.
And you can't afford any more slip-ups!
Now go.
Paxton: I'm really sorry, Coach.

Memoriam | Spencer Reid
Add yourself to my taglist! | Hereâs my masterlist!
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Warnings:Â depictions of abuse, pedophilia, talk of murder, panic attacks...
Author's note: This is a rewrite of S04E07 Memoriam because I'd had this idea of reader/OC being Spencer's best friend from Las Vegas and that they'd grown up together and were geniuses together, so when I saw this episode, it kind fit...
Words:Â 13,947
âDetective Y/L/N,â the captain of the North Las Vegas Police Department approached the Y/H/C woman at her desk. The woman swiveled in her chair, looking up at the man she called her boss. âCan you get the file of that petty arson on my desk by noon?âÂ
âSure thing, boss,â she nodded and swiveled back, returning to the very file she was just finishing up.Â
Y/N Y/L/N was the youngest detective at the Las Vegas Police Department. At just 22 years old, the girl had joined the department with three doctorates on her name and a BA in Sociology. Now, at 27 years of age, she was the most trusted, the most vetted detective in the department. Her co-workers trusted her more than anyone, all except Detective Hyde.Â
The man had known her since she was just a little girl. She was best friends with the son of one of his best friends. Maybe he didnât like her because he still thought of her as the little girl she used to be. Or maybe he didnât like her because she was a girl.
Just as she began focusing on her file again, a voice she knew all-too-well snapped her back out of that focus.Â
âHi. Iâm Special Agent Spencer Reid with the FBI,â the voice sounded.Â
Y/N turned around in the span of a nanosecond, her eyes locking on the source of said sound. There he was. Tall and beautiful as ever. The boy she had grown up with. Her non-biological-twin. Her best friend.Â
Slowly, she got up and approached the man she hadnât seen in a couple of years. He was talking to one of her co-workers, but quickly got distracted when she spoke up. âDr. Spencer Reid, as I live and breathe.âÂ
His eyes snapped up, surprise and amazement written all over his face as he saw her. âDetective Y/N Y/L/N,â he scoffed in surprise. âWow, itâs beenââÂ
âSix years and forty-five days?â she cut him off with the exact number of years and days she had gone without seeing him. âNot that Iâm counting, or anything.â She let out a small chuckle as he did the same.Â
Y/N Y/L/N and Spencer Reid had met when they were still in nappies. Their mothers had become fast friends when they were in labor together and gave birth to their kids on the exact same day, at the exact same time. Ever since that day, the two women have been inseparable, as did their kids. Both of them grew up to be geniuses with IQâs through the roof. They went to school together, graduated high school at twelve years old and went on to graduate from the academy together.Â
While both of them applied for the Behavioral Analysis Unit at the FBI, only one of them got hired while the other settled for a life in Vegas with the Police Department there.Â
Wh-what are you doing here?â she then asked when he didnât move or say anything.Â
Spencer seemingly snapped out of a daze as he made a beeline for his oldest friend. âDo you remember Riley Jenkins?â he asked.Â
âWasnât he your imaginary friend?â she asked, but he quickly shook his head.Â
âThatâs what I thought, but he actually existed. Can you maybe get everything the LVPD has on the 1984 murder of Riley?âÂ
Y/Nâs eyes widened. âHe was murdered?âÂ
âYeah⌠And I think I know who mightâve done it.âÂ
With a nod of her head, Y/N got to work. She researched every inch of the department until she finally came up with the files from the case in a cardboard box, along with Detective Hyde, who apparently worked the case.Â
âThat was a rough one,â he sighed as he set the box down on Y/Nâs desk.Â
âDid you work the case?â Spencer asked while his best friend started looking through some of the files. Memories flashed before her eyes from the time she went to Spencerâs little leagues games and practices.Â
âYeah,â Detective Hyde replied. âI was three of four blocks away when the call came in on the radio. My first kid. You donât forget those.âÂ
Y/N looked up to notice Spencerâs sad expression, telling her heâd had his own âfirst kidâ at some point in his career.Â
Instead of pressing further on the sentiment, Spencer continued by asking another question. âLet me ask you this, were there any suspects?âÂ
Something told Y/N he was fishing for a specific answer, something he hadnât told her yet.Â
âWe looked at the family initially. The dad, older brother,â Hyde explained.Â
âMakes sense. The boy was found in his own basement, right?â Spencer asked.Â
Hyde sighed. âYeah. After a while the family got defensive, stopped cooperatingâŚâÂ
âLike the JonBenĂŠt case?â Y/N chimed in as the thought popped into her head.Â
The older man nodded his head in agreement. âI never liked them for it anyway,â he added. âI always figured it was somebody outside the home.â That seemed to elicit some kind of emotion from Spencer, though Y/N couldnât decipher what it was just yet.Â
âWhatâs the Bureauâs interest in the case?â Y/N then asked.Â
Spencerâs eyes flitted to hers before focusing on the box in front of him. âUh, research.â There was something he wasnât telling them. Something important. He wasnât here with the FBI, Y/N figured quickly. He was here of his own volition.Â
âIs this everything?â he then asked, diverting the subject.Â
âThere might be another box down in Records,â Hyde responded, his confused eyes darting from the young agent to the young detective.Â
Spencer nodded his head. âIâd like to see it all, if you donât mind.âÂ
Nodding his head, Hyde left the two young adults alone to go and get the files they requested. As soon as the man was out of earshot, Y/N turned to the man she once knew as a kid. âWhat are you hiding from me, Dr. Reid?â she asked in a soft whisper.Â
Spencer didnât answer and opened one of the files, showing a picture of the young boy to Y/N. âDonât you remember him?â he asked. The kid in the picture gave the camera a soft smile. He was wearing a red Rovers T-Shirt and a red cap that hid his brown curls.Â
âFrom your little leagues games,â she stated as she grabbed the picture. âHe was a little older than us, wasnât he?âÂ
Humming, Spencer nodded his head. âYeah, he was six. Dad was his coach. He figured playing ball would make me normal.âÂ
âBut you arenât normal,â Y/N said with a soft smile. âYouâre extraordinary.â She tucked a strand of his hair that had fallen on his forehead behind his ear, but then quickly pulled away when she realized what she had done.Â
Spencerâs smile mirrored hers and he opened his mouth to say something, but Detecitve Hyde returned with the rest of the files, stopping the twenty-seven year old from doing so. Instead, he grabbed the files from Hyde, placed them inside the box in front of him and shut it before picking it up.Â
âIt was nice seeing you again, Y/N/N,â he said with a smile and turned.Â
It hurt watching him walk away yet again. It had hurt not seeing or hearing from him for almost seven years. Having him here, close to her, felt right. Watching him walk into the precinct felt like a weight had lifted off her shoulders.Â
âWait!â she called, stopping him in his tracks. âYou need any help?âÂ
Spencer turned back around and shook his head slightly. âNo, thatâs okay.âÂ
As he turned back around, Y/N sighed and rushed forward, stepping in front of him so he couldnât move. âYouâre really just gonna walk out here and not talk to me again for the next seven years? Because thatâs not something I can handle. I can tell youâre stressed. I can tell somethingâs bugging you about this case and I wanna help. Iâm your best friend, Spence.â The entire time she talked, she looked at him, trying to gauge any reaction from his face. âAnd I donât know if you remember, but I did also almost get into the BAU if another genius hadnât rightfully taken the spot instead.âÂ
Spencer sighed. âY/N/NâŚâÂ
âDonât âY/N/Nâ me, Spence. I wanna help. So let me help.âÂ
Another sigh elicited from the boy in front of her. âFine. When do you get off?âÂ
âNow,â she smiled, lying through her teeth. âLemme get changed and Iâll join you, yeah?â
With a nod of approval from her best friend, Y/N went back to her desk and grabbed the finished file from her desk, dropping it off at the captainâs desk before making it into the locker room where she quickly changed into jeans and a top.Â
The two of them headed down to Fountainview, the hotel Spencer was staying at. The whole car ride down there, the two friends filled one another in on their lives. It was a pleasant conversation as though no time had passed. Spencer was still the one person she would feel safest with. Heâd been her solace for the past twenty-seven years. Seven years apart didnât change that.Â
âAnd then I just kicked him in the balls and left the club,â Y/N finished her story with a giggle as she and Spencer walked down the hallway on the fourth floor to his room. âIt wasââ she cut herself off when she heard a sound coming from the door theyâd just stopped at. Judging from the look Spencer gave her, this was not supposed to be happening.Â
Slowly but surely, Spencer unlocked the door and walked in first, Y/N following closely behind, just in case sheâd have to protect him. Inside the room, the tv was playing reruns of some sort of soap opera Y/N didnât know the name of, and in front of said tv were two men, both older than Spencer and herself. One of them had to be in his mid-thirties while the other seemed a good twenty years older than them.Â
âWhat are you guys doing here?â Spencer asked, telling Y/N that he did know them.Â
âHey,â the younger one greeted as Y/N and Spencer both moved further into the room. âWhatâs it look like weâre doing?â he asked, pointing at the tv.Â
Spencer moved to set down the box of files on the high stool next to him. âBreaking into my room and watching Days of Our Lives?âÂ
âYoung and the Restless,â the older man corrected before turning the tv off.Â
As Spencer put his messenger bag down, the two men looked up at the younger adults in the room. âArenât you supposed to be on a plane back to D.C.?â Spencer asked.Â
âAnd youâre supposed to be hanging out with your mom,â the older said before his eyes darted over to Y/N. âAnd I donât think thatâs your momâŚâÂ
Spencer looked back at Y/N, who gave the guys a shy wave. âThatâs Detective Y/N Y/L/N. Sheâs my childhood best friend, we went to school together.âÂ
âDidnât you graduate at age twelve?â the younger one of the men asked.Â
With a grin, Y/N replied, âSo did I.âÂ
âY/N/N, these are Derek Morgan and David Rossi, my co-workers,â Spencer quickly introduced them, pointing at each of them as he said their respective names.Â
âNice to meet you, agents,â Y/N said politely, smiling.Â
Derek smiled back at Y/N, âYou too, sweetheart.â The man had a flirty demeanor about him. The way he said the words, the way he looked at her, ⌠All of it just told her that she shouldnât take the words to heart. It was just how he was.Â
Then, Derekâs eyes moved over to the box on the chair to which he pointed. âRiley Jenkins?â he asked.Â
Spencer sniffled before stuffing his hands in his pockets, something he did to keep himself from fidgeting too much, Y/N knew. âUh, no. Thatâs not⌠Thatâs actually not why Iâm here. IââÂ
âHe wanted to see me,â Y/N chimed in, noticing how the man was trying to talk himself out of it.Â
Whatever this Riley Jenkins case was to him, his co-workers couldnât know.Â
Derekâs eyes flitted from Y/N to Spencer and back. âYou donât have to lie for him, sweetheart.âÂ
âSheâs not lying. That-thatâs why IâmââÂ
âReid,â Derek quickly interrupted as he placed his soda can down on the table between him and David. âCome on, man, who do you think youâre talking to?â He got up from the chair and approached Spencer and Y/N. âI know what this has been doing to you.âÂ
David was next to get up from his spot. âLet us help,â he said.Â
Y/N couldnât help but smile. His co-workers only wanted what was best for him, she could tell. The fact that they stayed behind in Las Vegas, knowing their co-worker needed their help, was very telling to her.Â
âMaybe together we can find out who killed him,â David added.Â
âI think I might already know,â Spencer responded with a fearful tremor in his voice that only Y/N caught onto. Her eyebrows furrowed the more she heard him talk about it and the more she watched him and his behavior.Â
âSo, tell us about the suspect,â Derek encouraged.Â
Y/N watched his shoulder tense ever so slightly. âThe truth is, I donât know anything about him.âÂ
The puzzle pieces clicked in Y/Nâs mind. His sudden interest in the case, the lie about the bureauâs interest in the case, the tension in his shoulders⌠She knew everything about Spencerâs life and the one thing neither of them knew very much about was the reason why he was doing this in the first place. âYour dadâŚâ Y/N whispered.Â
The agents exchanged some glances before Spencer started unloading the case files from the box and spreading them out on the bed with Y/N helping him out.Â
âBefore we go down this road, you need to be sure,â David pointed out, worry evident in his voice.Â
âHeâs right,â Derek chimed in. âSome rocks donât need looking under.âÂ
Y/N looked up at Spencer as he sighed. âMy mind is sending me signals. I canât ignore them any more.âÂ
âMixed signals,â Y/N muttered, capturing everyoneâs attention. âThatâs what the subconscious is all about, you know that better than anyone, Spence.âÂ
Nodding, Derek continued, âReid, your dad left you.â Y/N noticed Spencerâs shoulders tensing ever so slightly. âYou take it to the Freudian extreme, you could say that he killed your childhood.âÂ
Y/Nâs heart broke a little at the memory of Spencerâs dad leaving. Though he never really talked about it with her, she knew how much it had hurt. She was there for it all. She was there to pick up the pieces of his broken heart and glue them back together in any way she could.Â
âIt could explain a dream in which you see him as a murderer,â David noted.Â
Spencer shook his head. âIâve come this far, Iâm not going back.âÂ
His two co-workers exchanged glances once more before the four of them got to work. As each of them grabbed a file to look over, they gathered in the living area to go over the case together. While Spencer and David occupied each of the lounge chairs, Derek paced the length between it and Y/N was perched on the armrest of the chair Spencer was sitting on.Â
âRiley was six at the time. His father, Lou Jenkins, was supposed to pick him up from T-ball practice at four, but he got delayed at work, prompting Riley to walk the three blocks home,â Spencer started to explain the case.Â
Y/N nodded her head, already pretty familiar with the case. âWhen his mother got home in the early evening, she found him dead in the basement,â she continued.Â
âSo the offender came to the house after the boy arrived home,â Rossi noted, his eyes flicking up to the younger agent and his best friend.Â
âOr picked him up on the way there,â Spencer offered his two cents.Â
Derek stopped pacing for a moment as he spoke up. âCoaxes Riley into the basement, where he sexually assaults him.âÂ
A shiver ran down Y/Nâs back as she thought of the boy she once knew.Â
âThe boyâs mouth was taped shut,â David read from his file.Â
âSymbolic,â Y/N answered. âThe perp fears Riley will talk, panics, weighs his options, âŚâÂ
âDecides to make certain that heâll never talk,â Derek finished her thought before sitting down on one of the chairs to her right.Â
David then continued, âHe finds a knife in the fishing gear under the stairs, stabs Riley nine times in the chest. Stuffs him behind the washing machine.â The older man closed the file with a sigh.Â
âSo, the UnSubâs a white male in his late twenties to early thirties,â Spencer pondered.Â
Y/N turned to him for a moment. âUnSub?âÂ
âUnknown Subject,â he quickly whispered, reminding her of the theory they had seen when they were in the academy together. Having not used the term in over seven years, a girl can sometimes forget. Unlike Spencer, she didnât have an eidetic memory.Â
âSo that means weâre looking for someone in his fifties,â David spitballed.Â
âAnd he likely knew the boy, maybe even been to his house,â Derek went on.Â
âNeighbor,â David finished, having Derek nod his head in agreement.Â
Finding her best friend a little too quiet for his own good, Y/N looked down to find him looking at a map of North Las Vegas. It was clear his brain was picking up on something but the thought hadnât quite finished processing yet.Â
âSpence?â she asked, capturing his attention. âWhat is it?âÂ
âMy family lived less than a half mile from the Jenkinses,â he said, then pointed at a house a couple squares away from his. âAnd so did yours.âÂ
âDo you think your dad knew the boy?â Rossi questioned, brows furrowed before he glanced over to Y/N. âWhat about yours?âÂ
The girl shook her head. âMineâs been dead since before I was born. Died in combat while my mother was pregnant with me.âÂ
âI donât know,â Spencer then answered his co-workerâs question. âMy memory isâŚâ he rubbed his eye in frustration. âThe lack of recall just reinforces how little I knew about him.âÂ
A sigh heaved Derekâs chest as he turned to his youngest colleague. âReid, weâre gonna have to track him down. You do know that.âÂ
âWe should talk to my mother first, neighbors, get their impressions,â Spencer suggested instead, clearly not ready for a reunion with his father just yet. Noticing the tension in his shoulders, Y/N placed her hand on his shoulder, squeezing ever so slightly to let him know she was there for him.Â
âReid, I donât need to tell you that this signature was need-based and sexual in nature,â Rossi sounded almost reassuring. âThe man weâre looking for is a pedophile.â Spencerâs jaw tensed. âSo, Iâll ask you again, are you sure you want to go down this road?âÂ
Derek and Y/N glanced over to Spencer before the guy got up with slight hesitation in his movements. âIâm gonna talk to my mother first.â He turned to the Y/H/C girl next to him. âYou wanna come?âÂ
Nodding her head, Y/N followed behind Spencer as the two of them made their way to the sanitarium where his mother was a patient. Y/N had been there a few times to visit Diana without Spencer knowing. After all, sheâd been the one to push Spencer to send his mother there when they were eighteen.Â
âOh, Y/N/N!â Diana greeted in excitement, seemingly happier to see the girl than her own son. âIâm so happy to see you again. Did you read the book I gave you last time?âÂ
Spencer turned his head towards his best friend in confusion. âLast time?â he asked.Â
Decidedly ignoring him, Y/N nodded her head in response to Dianaâs question. âI did. I absolutely loved it. Just like you told me I would,â she told her with a soft smile, placing a hand on her arm. âHey, how about a game of scrabble, huh?â She motioned to the board game in front of them.Â
Diana offered her a smile as the three of them started playing. The young woman could feel her best friend shifting in his seat, his brain whirring at thousands of miles per hour. He was spiraling, anxious to ask his questions.Â
âMomâŚâ he then finally started as Y/N was placing her letters on the board to form a word. âCan I ask you some questions about Dad? Iâm having trouble remembering.âÂ
âQuixotry,â Diana read Y/Nâs word. âThatâs a great word, Y/N/N.â The woman beamed at the girl before turning to her son. âWhat do you wanna know?â She was now focused on her turn, trying to find a good word.Â
âDid he like to be around children?â Spencer asked carefully.Â
Diana looked up from the board. âChildren? Well, yes.â She returned her gaze to the game a little too quickly. Something was telling Y/N that the woman she had called her second mom was hiding something. âIf it were up to him, youâd have a house full of brothers and sisters.âÂ
âYou didnât want more kids?â Y/N then asked, genuinely interested.Â
With a proud smile, Diana looked from the girl to her son. âWhy mess with perfection?â She winked at Y/N with a smirk on her face. The young woman looked up at her best friend, who was gazing at his mother in admiration.Â
âYeah, it was pretty perfect on the first go,â Y/N agreed. Her admission caused Spencer to tear his eyes away from his mother to land on her instead. The sparkle in his eyes still remained the same, even after seven years. Even after all these years, she still had to deny the butterflies in her stomach she got whenever he looked at her like that.Â
Shaking himself away from his thoughts, Spencer turned back to his mother. âWhat about other peopleâs children? How was he around them?âÂ
âHe was good with kids, I guess,â Diana responded. âHe coached your Little League team.âÂ
Y/N nodded her head. âI remember that, always trying to put him into normal activities.âÂ
âI tried to tell him youâre not normal, you were exceptional,â Diana added to this, smiling up at her son. It was nice to hear the words she thought of Spencer come from his own mother. Though Spencer himself wasnât really hearing it.Â
âLet me ask you this, Mom,â he said, shifting in his chair and pushing his hair back. âDid you ever get the feeling like, on his part, the marriage was just for show?âÂ
âSpence,â Y/N hissed, wanting to keep him from hurting his own motherâs feelings.Â
However, Diana wasnât too phased about the question. âThese questions are very strange, Spencer. What is this about?â she asked instead.Â
âItâs about Riley Jenkins,â he said, almost tearfully.Â
âRiley Jenkins?â Diana asked. âI told you he was someone you made up.âÂ
âHeâs not, though, Diana,â Y/N told her softly, reaching for her hand. The woman looked at her with confusion in her eyes, begging her to explain what was going on.Â
âHe was a real boy who lived in our neighborhood, and somebody killed him, andâŚâ Spencer continued as his mother looked at him, allowing the words to simmer in her mind. âI donât know, I think that Dad might have had something to do with it.âÂ
Dianaâs grip on Y/Nâs hand tightened. âHe was real?âÂ
âYeah,â Y/N answered in a whisper, squeezing right back. âHe was on that Little League team, too. With Spence. I-I remember going to the games and the practices with my mom to cheer him on.âÂ
Y/N could hear Spencer sniffle, so with the hand she wasnât holding Dianaâs, she reached out for Spencerâs, holding both Reidâs hands tightly. There was nothing else they were going to get out of Diana and Y/N knew that. So, after a few moments of holding mother and son, Y/N let their hands go.Â
âWeâll let you get some rest, mama,â she told Diana with a soft smile before turning to Spencer, urging him to get up, too. âWeâll be back to visit soon, okay?â She kissed the womanâs cheek before taking a few steps back to let Spencer say goodbye to his mother. Once he did, the two of them fell into step together.Â
âYou visit her?â he asked when they were outside.
Y/N shrugged. âOne of us has to,â she simply replied before getting in the car again.Â
After informing the two other agents of the information they got from Diana, Derek, Spencer and Y/N headed into town to find Lou Jenkins, Rileyâs father. They explained everything to Lou about their theory of William Reid being the one who killed his son.Â
âItâs just a theory, Mr. Jenkins,â Spencer reassured him.Â
The man threw something in the back of his truck, Y/N couldnât see what it was, before he turned to the agents and detective. âYou must be out of your damn minds,â he said.Â
âWeâre just trying to get some new facts,â Y/N stated.Â
Lou turned to the Y/H/C, trying to appear intimidating towards her, but none of that ever worked on Y/N. Unlike Spencer, Y/N had actually grown a spine to stand up against bullies and men who tried to overpower her.Â
âWell, youâre hell and gone from facts if you think Will Reid killed my son,â he said, nearly spitting in the girlâs face. Derek placed a hand on the manâs shoulder, pushing him back from Y/N.Â
âSo, you were friends?â Spencer asked instead.Â
Glancing between the agents and detective, Lou recoiled a little. âWho the hell are you to come here asking this?âÂ
âIâm his son,â Spencer answered, stopping the man dead in his tracks. Lou looked at the young man in front of him.Â
âSpencer?â he asked and the boy she once knew made a reappearance with the expression on his face. âSpencer, a G-man.â He then turned to Y/N. âAnd the Y/H/C never too far from ya, hey?â A blush fanned across Y/Nâs cheeks. She had always been Spencerâs shadow to everyone else but to Spencer and their moms. âI still donât understand.âÂ
âWas William around your house often?â Derek questioned.Â
âYeah, the occasional barbecue, that sort of thing.â
âWas Riley around on those occasions?â Y/N continued.Â
Louâs eyes flitted from the girl to the two men flanking her. âWhy are you doing this?âÂ
âI need to know,â Spencer replied and pressed his lips together.Â
Noticing the tension in his shoulders returning, Y/N reached for the balled-up fist on his side and unfurled his fingers, placing her palm against his and intertwining their fingers. It was something she used to do whenever he was panicking about something in school or when the bullies would get to him again.Â
He visibly relaxed as she hid their intertwined hands behind her back.Â
âTake it from someone who does know. He was a good man,â Lou reassured them, but something about the way he said it struck Y/N. Neither of the agents noticed it as Derek turned and patted Spencer on the stomach, his arm grazing Y/Nâs chest as she stood between the two men.Â
âThanks for your time,â Derek said as he walked away.Â
Y/N began to let go of Spencerâs hand to follow behind Derek when Spencerâs grip on her tightened as he stayed put. âWhere is he these days?â he asked Lou. âMy dad?âÂ
âItâs been years, but heâs probably still at that same firm in Summerlin,â Lou answered.Â
Spencerâs grip loosened on Y/Nâs hand as he slumped. âHeâs been in town this whole time?â Her heart broke at the sight of him. Once again, Spencerâs dad broke the boyâs heart and Y/N was there to pick up the pieces.Â
That was never going to end, was it?Â
âAs far as I know,â Lou replied before Spencer let go of Y/N and turned on his heel.Â
Y/N shot one last smile at Lou before falling into step with the two agents.Â
âYou know Summerlin?â Derek asked both of them.Â
âYeah, itâs like nine miles east of here,â Spencer replied.Â
âOff the 95,â Y/N finished his sentence.Â
âHe was ten minutes away and he never let me know.âÂ
Rossi joined the three of them at the company William Reid worked at. As they entered what seemed to be the lobby of the law firm, Y/N started to look around to take in her surroundings. Before she could take anything in, an unfamiliar voice sounded.Â
âCan I help you, gentleman?â The woman behind the desk got up and walked towards the front desk. One glance at the small board on her table told Y/N her name was Ms. Cahill. âAnd lady,â she added when her eyes fell on the Y/H/C.Â
âYeah,â Spencer replied and then fell silent. He inhaled a couple of times, opening his mouth to say anything, but nothing came out.Â
âWeâd like to speak with William Reid,â Y/N said in his place.Â
âIs he expecting you?â Ms. Cahill asked.Â
âI donât think so,â Rossi said before flashing the woman his FBI badge.Â
While the woman told them Will was in a meeting, Y/Nâs eyes landed on Spencer. He was having difficulty breathing, like he was on the verge of a panic attack, something Y/N knew all-too-well. The boy used to have them all the time when they were kids and Y/N was always the one to help him out of it.Â
âAre you okay?â Derek asked before Y/N could.Â
Spencer nodded his head. âYeah. No. Yeah, Iâm going to go to the bathroom.â Before either of them could say anything, he sped off towards the bathroom, leaving Y/N with his co-workers.Â
âIâve never seen him like this,â Derek pointed out.Â
A heavy sigh heaved Y/Nâs chest. âI have,â she said. âExcuse me.âÂ
She pushed past Derek and followed Spencer to the bathroom, not even caring she was entering the boysâ bathroom. Her heart and mind were set out on helping her best friend. She didnât care much about bathroom etiquette.Â
âSpence?â she called out just before one of the stalls slowly opened. The man walked out of the cubicle, hands shaking and lip trembling. âHey, you okay?â He simply shook his head before placing empty vials of something on the sink. Y/N reached for one, inspecting the label. Her heart sank. âDilaudid, seriously, Spence?â Her voice contained more anger than she had intended to.Â
He splashed a bit of water in his face and blindly reached for the paper towels. Quickly jumping to his aide, Y/N handed him two. âDonât, Y/N/N. You werenât there,â he told her calmly as he dried his face.Â
âFor what? For you to get hopped up on some drug?â She held the vial up for emphasis.Â
âFor me being kidnapped and tortured!â The volume of his voice went up ever so slightly.Â
The anger that resided on Y/Nâs chest washed away as her heart plummeted into her stomach. âWhat?â she whispered, her eyes filling up with tears. âSpencerâŚâÂ
âLetâs just get this over with,â he said and pushed past her before she could even say anything else. Letting out a frustrated sigh, Y/N followed behind him and joined the other agents and Spencerâs father.Â
âDid something happen?â Y/N heard William ask.Â
âThatâs what weâre trying to find out,â Spencer responded in a cool, toned-down manner, much different from how he was moments before. The dilaudid seemed to be working quickly, Y/N thought. âHello, Dad.âÂ
William Reid looked at his son as if heâd seen the ghost of Christmas past. Y/N was suddenly reminded of all the times she had spent at the Reidsâ and every time William picked them both up from school because her mother was working overtime and couldnât pick her up.Â
âSpencerâŚâ William whispered before his eyes landed on the girl next to him. âIâm glad you two are still together.âÂ
Y/N couldnât help but scoff at his comment. There had been so much in the last seven years she didnât even know about. So much had happened. So much for which she shouldâve been there for him. Too much, it seemed.Â
âLetâs talk in my office.â William invited the four of them into his office. While he himself took a seat on the armchair, Rossi opted for the couch opposite of him. After what happened in the bathroom, Y/N felt withdrawn from her best friend and opted to lean against the bookshelves, Derek joining her quickly, while Spencer stayed put near the door.Â
âYou donât look like me any more,â William told his son. âYou used to. Everybody said so.âÂ
Y/Nâs eyes flicked towards Spencer, who was exhibiting a cool stance towards his father. âThey say some people look like their dogs, too,â he started. âItâs attributed to prolonged mutual exposure. Elderly couples, also. They unconsciously mimic the expressions of people theyâve been around their whole life. Itâs why weâve been called non-biological twins our whole life,â he said, motioning towards Y/N at the end. âSo it kind of makes sense that I wouldnât really look like you. I havenât seen you in twenty years.âÂ
No one else noticed it, but Spencerâs bottom lip quivered. He was keeping up a strong facade, but it didnât fool Y/N. Â
âSo, are you in town on work?â William asked.Â
âWeâre just wrapping up a case,â Rossi intervened smoothly. Maybe Y/N wasnât the only one who noticed Spencerâs lip quivering. They were profilers after all, studying everyoneâs behavior.Â
âA five-year-old boy was abducted and murdered,â Derek chimed in.Â
William looked up at Derek and Y/N. âI read about that. Ethan Hayes, right?â Glancing over at Y/N, Spencerâs eyebrows furrowed at his fatherâs behavior and he knew she had taken note, too. âThatâs terrible.âÂ
âYeah,â Spencer agreed. âThat case got me thinking about Riley Jenkins.âÂ
âYou remember Riley Jenkins, Mr. Reid?â Y/N questioned.Â
William nodded. âOf course.âÂ
âIâve been having dreams about him for a really long time,â Spencer explained. âBut when I came back here for this case, it jogged something and the dream changed. I saw his killer and it was you.âÂ
Along with Spencerâs co-workers, Y/N paid close attention to William to see if anything in his behavior or reaction would tip them off.Â
âInteresting dream,â William said, oddly calmly.Â
Y/Nâs head tilted slightly. âYou donât seem that surprised.âÂ
Turning back to his son, William smiled ever so slightly. âI stopped being surprised by Spencerâs mind a long time ago.â The man almost sounded proud.Â
âThere are certain criteria we consider when looking at this type of suspect,â Rossi continued, ignoring the pride in Williamâs face. âYou fit parts of that profile.âÂ
William glanced at Y/N, a familiar face for guidance. When she didnât offer any, he turned back to Rossi. âMe?âÂ
âWe just want your cooperation,â said Rossi.Â
âMy cooperââ William chuckled in disbelief as he glanced at every person in the room. Neither of them were giving him any satisfactory answer, all four of them glaring at him to gauge his reaction. âYouâre not actually saying you think I killed Riley Jenkins.âÂ
Spencer shook his head ever so slightly. âWe didnât say that.âÂ
âGood. Because thatâs absurd.âÂ
âWeâd just like permission to look through your computer, access your records,â Derek stated.Â
William leaned forward in his chair. âAnd what would you be looking for, exactly?â No answer came forth, telling the hot-shot lawyer enough. âYou want access to my files, get a warrant.âÂ
Having asked him enough questions, the team of four returned to the hotel. Rossi and Derek got their own rooms while Y/N joined Spencer in his. She wanted to help him on the case a little more, see if they could come up with something together. Plus, if it gave her the chance to ask him some questions about what had happened to him, it would be even better.Â
As the two of them turned the corner in the hallway, Spencer dialed another co-workerâs number. Penelope Garcia, heâd explained to her. Tech analyst at the BAU. Computer wizard. âYeah, weâre not gonna get a warrant so weâre going to have to go under the radar on this one, Garcia.âÂ
âYou want me to hack your fatherâs network,â Y/N could hear Penelopeâs voice from the other side of the line. âYouâre sure about this?âÂ
The two of them stopped in front of room number 419. âI really wish people would stop asking me that,â he said to Penelope as he reached into his pocket for his keycard. He hung up the phone as he opened the door, stopping in his tracks as his foot stepped on something that wasnât the carpet. His sudden halting caused Y/N to bump into him.Â
With confusion written in her eyes, she watched as Spencer bent down to require the folder that was on the floor. It was a brown envelope with a post-it stuck on the flap. âYouâre looking at the wrong guyâ, it read.Â
Spencer glanced over his shoulder at his best friend. âDo you know about this?âÂ
She shook her head in response before he opened the envelope and fished out the files inside. At the very top of the bundle was a picture attached. More accurately, a mugshot from someone named Gary B Michaels.Â
Spencer glanced at Y/N before leaving the room again, this time, with the file in hand. Slightly frustrated by his lack of communication, Y/N followed behind, closing the door behind her but not before checking if Spencer had taken the roomkey with him.Â
Rossi and Morgan were in the downstairs bar, nursing a drink when the two younger ones joined them, Y/N a mere half a minute later. Spencer handed them the envelope without a word.Â
âWas the envelope dropped off at the front desk first?â Rossi asked.Â
âNope, I asked the front desk. No one dropped anything off for Spencer,â Y/N replied.Â
Rossi nodded his head in thought. âSo, they know what room you were in.âÂ
âI do have to admit, the timing of this seems a little suspicious,â Derek agreed.Â
âYeah, an hour after I see my father, weâre handed another suspect.âÂ
Rossi looked up from the file. âYou think you knew this guy?âÂ
âI donât know,â Spencer replied. âI think so but Iâm not sure. I ⌠No, I donât know.â He was stuttering and chaotically jumping from one thought to the other.Â
Nodding at Y/N, Derek asked, âWhat about you? Have you seen him before?âÂ
âCanât say that I have⌠OrâŚâ she reached for the picture again, looking at the man properly and in a more lit-up room. The dark eyes pierced through Y/Nâs Y/E/C ones as if he could reach through the photo and just grab her like that, transporting her to her childhood.Â
âThatâs a pretty dress.âÂ
Before she could go any further in that memory, Rossiâs voice stopped her. ââExposed himself to a minor.â Thatâs a precursor to molestation,â he said and his words threw Y/N right back.Â
She was at the playground, waving her ribbon around while Spencer was playing chess by himself, when a man stopped her in her tracks.Â
âThatâs a pretty dress,â he complimented her cherry-patterned dress her mother had put her in that morning, even though she wanted to wear pants and a T-shirt. Y/N looked up at him. He was tall and his hair was smoothed back by gel, leaving it sticky and greasy-looking.Â
âThank you,â innocent, unknowing Y/N responded. âMommy picked it out for me.âÂ
âAre those real cherries?â he asked and crouched to her level, reaching for the dress, feeling its fabric between his fingers.Â
Young Y/N frowned at him. âOf course not, silly.âÂ
âI think it is,â he replied and tickled her belly before pretending to eat a handful of cherries, causing the young girl to laugh. âYou like cherries?â Y/N nodded her head eagerly. âSo do I.âÂ
âY/N/N?â Spencerâs voice brought her right back to the present day. She blinked rapidly, adjusting to the bright light of the hotelâs lobby. âYou okay?â he asked. Before she could say anything, Derekâs phone rang, cutting the menâs worry for the young woman away.Â
âItâs Garcia,â Derek said before picking up and putting the phone on speaker. âTalk to me, baby girl.âÂ
Y/N gave the man an intrigued look, but decided not to say anything.Â
âIâm not interrupting boy time at Crazy Horse Too, am I?â the peppy-sounding woman asked.Â
âYou know thatâs not my thing. Iâm more for in-room entertainment.âÂ
âI canât help you there, but I do give good phone.âÂ
Y/N looked over at Spencer who gave her a look that told her this was how they always interacted with one another.Â
âLet me hear what youâve got.âÂ
âReid, weâve been all up in your fatherâs business,â Garcia started.Â
âWhat did you find?âÂ
âWell, let me tell you first what I did not find. No kiddie porn, no membership to illicit websites, no dubious e-mails, no chat room history.â
âWhat about his finances?â Spencer asked, his shoulders tensing a little again.Â
Another voice came through the speaker now, one Y/N didnât recognize. He sounded like a strong male, very authoritative voice. âWe went back ten years. No questionable transactions that we could find.â
âWell, he did buy a ticket to see CĂŠline Dion six months ago,â another womanâs voice came next. âBut I think we can overlook that.âÂ
Y/N couldnât help but smile ever so slightly. CĂŠline Dion was very often playing in their house. Both at Spencerâs and at her own. The two families were pretty crazy about the French-Canadian singer.Â
âHeâs smart. Is it possible he kept things under the table?â Spencer wanted to know next.Â
The manâs voice sounded through again. âWell, of course. But from what we can tell, Reid, he doesnât fit the profile.âÂ
âWe can tell you other things about him, if you want to know,â the female voice that wasnât Garciaâs said.Â
Spencer looked down at Y/N as if to find his footing again. âIâm listening.âÂ
âUh, heâs a workaholic. He actually logs more hours than we do,â the woman said. âHe makes decent money, but he doesnât spend a lot of it. He has a modest house, he drives a hybrid. He doesnât travel much, he stays away from the casinos. And according to his veterinary bills, he has a very sick cat.â
The man spoke next. âHe appears to spend most of his free time alone, and goes to the movies a lot, and he reads. And from his collection of first editions, it seems his favorite author isâŚâÂ
âIsaac Asimov. I remember that one,â Spencer cut him off. He was agitated, doubting every single belief he had about his father. Though she was still kind of upset with him, Y/N reached for his hand again and intertwined their fingers, hoping that would ground him again.Â
âHe does have one other major interest. On his home computer heâs archived a gajillion things on one common subject,â Garcia took over again.Â
A smile spread on Y/Nâs face, knowing what she was going to say.Â
âWhat?â Spencer asked.Â
âYou, kiddo.â Y/N could hear the smile in Garciaâs voice and she squeezed Spencerâs hand. âHeâs got like everything thatâs been published online. Every article youâve been quoted in, pieces youâve written for behavioral science journals. He even has a copy of your dissertation.âÂ
âHeâs keeping tabs on you,â Y/N told him, beaming. âThatâs saying something.âÂ
âYeah, and he Googled me. That makes up for everything,â he said before pushing past his colleagues, letting go of the one hand that could ground him. âI need some air.âÂ
âSpence!â Y/N called, but he was already gone.Â
Derek sighed as he spoke into the phone again. âYou guys still there?âÂ
âI thought we were giving him good news,â Garcia sighed, too. âAlso, who else is there? I swore I heard a womanâs voice.âÂ
âOh, that would be me,â Y/N answered. âIâm Detective Y/N Y/L/N. Spencerâs childhood best friend. Iâm trying to help out here, wherever I can.âÂ
âDidnât you apply for the spot at the BAU, too?â the male voice sounded again. âI remember seeing your resume on my desk.âÂ
Y/N let out an awkward chuckle. âYeah, I did. But, uh, you chose Spencer over me. Which is totally valid. Heâs a great guy and I bet heâs a great asset to your team.â Â
âIâm sorry we didnât pick you, Detective Y/L/N,â the man said.Â
âItâs fine. Iâm proud of Spencer for getting in anyway and Iâm happy in my job, so. Hey, no resentment, all right?âÂ
âGlad to hear that. Can we do anything else for you guys there?âÂ
Derek held the phone up to his mouth. âYeah, look up a name for us, if you would. Gary Brandan Michaels.âÂ
The name alone sent shivers down Y/Nâs spine, bringing her right back to that day on the playground.Â
His hand moved from her belly down to her short legs, placing one on the back of her knee. âCould you do a twirl for me, pretty girl?âÂ
She quickly snapped herself back out of it and looked up at the two men in front of her. âI need some air,â she whispered and took off the same way Spencer did. Trying to find her breathing again, she stopped around the corner and focused on her respiration. It wasnât until she heard his familiar voice that she looked up again to take in her surroundings. She found herself on the other side of the lobby where they had some of those casino machines. One of which was manned by her best friend.Â
He was accompanied by a blonde girl in a sparkly purple dress. She was sitting a bit too close to her best friend for Y/Nâs liking.Â
âNormally video poker odds are slightly worse, at point-seven percent in your favor, but if you employ optimal strategy and always draw for the royal flush, you can push those odds to point-two percent,â Spencer explained to the woman.Â
âHmm,â the woman hummed. âSmart and handsome.âÂ
Spencer looked up at this, but his eyes werenât on the woman for more than a second as they caught something behind her. Or rather someone.Â
âSo are you in town for the convention?â she asked while reaching for a cigarette.Â
Spencer slightly shook his head to force himself to pry his eyes away from the beautiful Y/H/C in the corner who was looking at him, too. âUm, there are twelve conventions in town this week, which one are you talking about?âÂ
âTake your pick,â she said, laughing, before lighting the cigarette.Â
Upon seeing this, Y/N walked over. âSix minutes,â she mumbled. The womanâs eyes landed on the newest addition to their conversation as she blew out her smoke, though Y/N couldnât but focus on how Spencerâs lips twitched up into a smile.Â
âExcuse me?â the woman asked, clearly offended.Â
Spencer shook his head slightly with a smile. âI-it was something I used to say to my mom to try to get her to quit smoking. A cigarette takes six minutes off your life. So every time sheâd light one, Iâd say, âthatâs six minutes less that I get to spend with youâ.â
âAw! Did it work?âÂ
If Y/N hated how the woman was so charmed by her best friend, she was very much showing it, though neither of them noticed.Â
âNo,â Spencer replied chuckling.Â
âBecause Iâve tried it all. The gum, the patch, nothing works.âÂ
The Y/H/C let out a chuckle. âYou should try hypnosis, theyâve had a lot of success in theââ Just as the idea popped into Y/Nâs head, it seemingly did in Spencerâs, too, as his head snapped up at her with wide eyes.Â
âTell you what, Iâll put mine out if you buy me a drink,â the woman tried, but Spencer wasnât even listening anymore.Â
Grimacing at the woman, Y/N placed her hands on Spencerâs shoulders. âNot today, sweetheart.âÂ
Just as Spencer turned in his chair, Derek and David joined Y/Nâs side. âWeâve been looking all over the place for both of you. Come on,â said Derek with a serious expression on his face.Â
Spencer got up from his chair and took Y/Nâs hand in his, entwining their fingers to give her the support and calmth she needed after her near-panic attack just mere moments earlier.Â
âHey! You won like two-thousand dollars here,â the woman called.Â
âKeep it,â Spencer told her over his shoulder.Â
âYou do realize you just gave two grand to a hooker,â Rossi pointed out.Â
Derekâs eyes glanced from the woman in the purple dress to Spencer to Y/N. âMustâve been quite a conversation. What was it about?âÂ
âHow to stop smoking,â Spencer replied before walking off, dragging Y/N with him.Â
Outside, Spencer explained his plan. Derek and Rossi werenât entirely in on the plan, but Y/N convinced them that it could help.Â
âI could sit in,â Y/N suggested, but Rossi shook his head.Â
âNo, Iâll sit in, make sure everythingâs going well.âÂ
Furrowing her eyebrows, Y/N looked at him. âWhy not? Weâre practically soulmates, weâI can help.âÂ
âThatâs just it, Y/N,â Derek chimed in. âYouâre too close. Let Rossi do it. Weâll wait out here.âÂ
After a reassuring nod from Spencer, Y/N sat down next to Derek, allowing Rossi to go in with him. She didnât love this. Her best friend might get hurt and she wouldnât even be there to patch up the breakage.Â
âYou and SpencerâŚâ Derek started once the silence settled over them in the waiting room. âYouâve been more than friends?âÂ
âNo,â Y/N shook her head.Â
âBut you wanted to?âÂ
Y/Nâs head snapped up, her eyes wide. Never had she even admitted to herself that what she felt for Spencer was more than platonic. She didnât want to admit it, scared that it was true and it was going to ruin what they had going on.Â
âIâHow do you know?â she asked, her voice quiet and vulnerable.Â
A soft laugh erupted from Derekâs throat. âIâm a profiler, Y/L/N. Besides, itâs blatantly obvious.âÂ
âHow so?âÂ
âCome on, the way you look at each other, the way you hold each otherâs handsâŚâ
Y/Nâs brows furrowed. âWait,â she said, confusion laced in her voice. âYouâre not saying âyouâ. Youâre not talking about the way I look at him, but the way we look at each otherâŚâÂ
âPretty Boyâs blatantly in love with you, too, genius.âÂ
Scoffing, Y/N shook her head. âYeah, and Iâm the Queen of England.âÂ
Derek wetted his lips as he chuckled. âAll right, Your Majesty. Whatever you wanna believeâŚâÂ
âY/N/N!â the sudden scream of her name caused her to jolt from her chair and rush into the practice where she found Spencer on the couch, panting and frantically looking around the room.Â
âSpence,â she whispered and rushed to his side, relieving Rossi from his protective duty. âSpence, youâre okay. Youâre okay. Youâre okay.â She soothed him, allowing him to grab onto her hand as she smoothed his hair back and pressed kisses to his head. âYouâre okay.â  Â
Once Spencer had calmed down and explained to his co-workers and Y/N what he had seen, he had decided to go back to his mother to confront her and ask her about that day.Â
âDo you want me to come with you?â Y/N asked, her voice soft and fragile.Â
Spencer looked down at her and nodded her head. âPlease,â he whispered.Â
Derek dropped them off at Bennington Sanitarium, wanting to wait for the couple in the car until they were ready. The whole way to her room, Spencer held Y/Nâs hand tightly, power walking through the familiar hallways. They found her in her room where Spencer explained what he had seen in his vision. Y/N watched from the sidelines and noticed how Diana became more and more agitated.Â
âTry to remember, Mom,â said Spencer, needing to push her a little.Â
âNo, I canât.âÂ
âYou were there. You watched Dad burn the bloody clothes.âÂ
Diana shook her head. âYou had a dream.âÂ
âMom, this was not a dream,â Spencer pressed, causing his mother to turn around to face him. âThis was a memory. It was a memory and I saw you.âÂ
She walked up to him and grabbed his face in her hands lovingly. âYour mind. Such a treasure. Even as a baby you knew about things you werenât supposed to know.âÂ
âThis is not about me. This is about Riley Jenkins.âÂ
âIt was always about you,â Diana said in a whisper, matching her sonâs tone of voice.Â
âPlease, Mom. Please. Please just try to remember,â Spencer tried again as he grabbed her hands and guided her over to her bed where they sat down. âRemember Riley. Riley.â
âRiley⌠Riley,â she mimed as she let the name simmer in her brain. âRiley was real. Poor Riley.âÂ
âYes,â Spencer whispered. âPoor Riley. Poor Riley. Did Dad do something to him?âÂ
Diana looked up at her son in surprise. âDad? No.âÂ
âThink, think, think,â Spencer pressed.Â
âNo, no, no, no. Thatâsâ No, no. Now youâre confusing me, Spencer. No.â She placed her hands over her face. It was stressing her out. He was pressing and pushing her too far.Â
âSpence,â Y/N tried softly, but he didnât hear her.Â
âYou knew, Mom. You knew about Dad and you didnât do anything.âÂ
âNo, you donât know. No! No, no, you donât know! You donâtâŚâ Then, she started to yell out her ânoâs before getting up and starting to hit herself.Â
âMama,â Y/N walked up to her and tried to keep her from hurting herself, but Spencer quickly pulled her away and let the nurses push past them to get Diana in control. As the two of them watched the nurses put something in her arm to calm her down, they held onto one another tightly. Spencerâs lips were pressed against Y/Nâs hair, the scent of her shampoo calming him down.Â
âHe got to Y/N/N,â Diana whispered once the medicine started working.Â
Y/N and Spencer exchanged glances before Spencer let go of the girl. âWhat? What did you say?âÂ
âHe got to Y/N/N and it couldâve been you, too.âÂ
The flashbacks sheâd been having were real. They were actual memories from her childhood. From the guy that touched her and asked her to twirl. The guy that killed Riley Jenkins was the same guy that played with her with her ribbon.Â
It couldâve been either of them, instead of Riley.Â
The following day, Y/N went back to work, not entirely ready to face her captainâs wrath about missing a few days, but she had to go through it. He wasnât entirely happy, but the girl didnât get fired either. A warning, Hyde had said. Another one and sheâd be out.Â
For as long as she could, she tried to focus on her work. It was a simple filing day, so there didnât need to be too many brain cells involved in this activity. Lucky for her, because most of her brain cells were focusing on the Riley Jenkins case, her conversation with Derek about Spencer and Spencer himself.Â
Y/N knew she had a crush on her best friend. She had since they were sixteen but she couldnât admit that to anyone else. Not even herself.Â
âWhat was Lou Jenkins doing here?â The familiar and normally soothing voice of Spencer Reid made her jump out of her thoughts.Â
Sighing, Y/N smiled her fakest smile. âGood morning, Y/N/N. Good morning, Spence. What can I do ya for?â She held the whole conversation by herself, earning an annoyed glare from her best friend. âI donât know what he was doing here, I didnât even notice him.âÂ
âI thought you were a good detective,â Spencer quipped, and though Y/N knew he was only teasing, it actually stung a bit.Â
âWhat are you doing here, Dr. Reid?â she asked, allowing her tone to showcase just how pissed off she was.Â
Spencerâs features softened. âCan you come with us? We gotta convince Detective Hyde that we wanna arrest my dad.âÂ
âDonât you need a good detective for that?â she shot back and swiveled in her chair, away from him.Â
She heard him sigh before he turned her chair around again. His eyes glazed over ever so slightly as he crouched down to her level. The flashbacks from her childhood returned for a quick second. âIâm sorry, Y/N/N. That was uncalled for. Please, will you help me?âÂ
âGet up,â she whispered, not wanting to be reminded of the guy in the playground again. âPlease, Spence. Get up.â Confused, Spencer stood up straight again before Y/N took a breath and got up, too.Â
âAre you okay, Y/N?â Derek asked, worry laced in his eyes.Â
She offered them a smile. âFine. Letâs go.âÂ
Allowing Spencer to sit down in front of Detective Hyde, Y/N and Derek remained by the door. Spencer explained the entire case to the detective, handing over the file they had compiled.Â
âYouâve got no evidence,â Hyde concluded.Â
âA suspect can be detained for questioning for forty-eight hours, regardless of evidence,â Spencer told him.Â
Hyde glanced up to Y/N and Derek before turning his focus back on Spencer. âIâm not in the habit of ruining peopleâs reputations on a whim.âÂ
âWhereâs your Captain? I want to talk to your Captain,â Spencer stated.Â
âTalk all you want,â Hyde chided. âThis was a local murder and your authority ends at the state line.âÂ
Crossing her arms in front of her chest, Y/N said, âMine doesnât.âÂ
Detective Hyde glared at his co-worker before getting up and taking a seat on the edge of his desk. âLook, why donât you just head back over to the Fountainview, and have a couple of drinks by the pool, and think about this?âÂ
âI have thought about this,â Spencer stated determinedly.Â
âThe guyâs your father.â
âWhatâs your point, Detective?âÂ
âMaybe youâre here to work out some other issuesâŚâ Spencer got up just as Derek approached the two of them, pushing past his co-worker.Â
âListen, DetectiveââÂ
Derek started, but Y/N was quick to cut him off. âGive us twenty-four hours, Hyde. Consider it a personal favor to the FBI, huh? Donât you want to be in these guysâ good books? Donât you wanna be the grand local hero?âÂ
Y/N and Hyde had a stand-down for a good minute. Her Y/E/C eyes didnât defer from his for even a split second. She was going to get to him, even if it cost her her job.Â
âFine. Youâve got twenty-four hours.âÂ
Smiling, Y/N patted his shoulder. âThank you, good Detective.âÂ
âI appreciate that,â said Derek before turning on his heel and following after Spencer, who quickly burst out of the office. âReid, youâve got to keep your head, man,â Derek said to the young agent just as Y/N joined them.Â
âHe couldâve just agreed to it, it happens all the time.âÂ
âThey just want to feel like theyâre the ones in control,â Derek assured him right before his phone rang. Spencer took this as an opportunity to walk away, only for his best friend to follow right after him.Â
âYou okay, Spence?â she asked, worry laced in her voice.Â
He smiled at her. âYeah. Could ask you the same thing. What was that earlier?âÂ
âYou pissed me off,â she snapped, crossing her arms over her chest as if that would protect her from the truth.Â
Shaking his head, he stepped closer towards her and placed his hands on her shoulders. âNo, not that. When I crouched down in front of you. You flinched. You-your eyes glazed over as though you were gonna cry and you tensed up.âÂ
âI-I guess Iâve been having someâflashbacks from our childhood?â she stuttered and stumbled over her words, not even sure what to make of it herself.Â
Spencerâs head tilted. âFrom our childhood? And itâs making you scared of me?âÂ
âNo, Iââ before she could say anything, Rossi walked into the hallway they were in, intervening in their conversation.Â
âYour dadâs here,â he said.Â
The two of them joined Rossi and Derek when they had William Reid in the interrogation room. âYou still think he did it, donât you?â Derek asked Spencer.Â
âWhy shouldnât I?âÂ
âWell, for one thing, Gary Michaels fits the profile,â Derek answered. Hearing the name caused Y/N to shiver ever so slightly. âYou okay, mama?â Y/N simply nodded her head in response, allowing Derek to continue. âFor another, he fled town after Rileyâs murder. Heâs a better suspect than your dad, Reid.âÂ
Spencerâs nose scrunched. âHeâs a convenient one. Someone slipped the file under my door, Morgan. What am I supposed to think?âÂ
âMaybe theyâre trying to help,â Rossi chimed in.Â
âOr maybe theyâre trying to protect him,â Spencer suggested.Â
Rossi stepped closer to Spencer. âYouâre talking about someone helping to cover up the murder of a child. Who would do that?âÂ
Something clicked inside Y/Nâs mind as she watched her best friendâs father through the glass. He didnât strike her to be someone who would murder a child. He was the one person she hated most when she was a kid, but he didnât seem to be the one to do the hating. Along with the flashbacks sheâd been having and the things Hyde was saying mere moments ago, it didnât make sense to her that Spencerâs dad would be behind this.Â
âDidnât it seem a little odd how resistant Hyde was when you asked him to bring in your father?â she asked Spencer, voicing her thoughts.Â
Derek looked at her. âI know you hate the guy, but are you seriously accusing a cop right now?âÂ
âIt was a police file,â Spencer said, agreeing with his best friend.Â
âA very old one. Anybody couldâve accessed it. You too, Y/N/N.âÂ
Y/N scoffed. âAside from thatâŚâ she turned back to Spencer. âHe told you to go back to the Fountainview, have a drink by the pool, and think about things. Have you told them you were staying at the Fountainview, Spence?âÂ
Her best friend looked at her in thought. âNo, I havenât. Have you?âÂ
âUh-uh,â she shook her head and watched as the gears behind his eyes began working him up. âHow bad of a detective am I now, huh?âÂ
âYouâre brilliant,â he whispered before walking past her and entering the interrogation room where his dad was.Â
Beaming, Y/N turned to Derek. âIâm brilliant,â she cooed, proudly.Â
âAnd youâre still trying to convince me youâre not in love with him?â Derek asked, smug smirk on his face.Â
Not really having a retort to that, Y/N pulled a face before turning to the window to listen to Spencer interviewing his father.Â
âThe question is simple. How did the blood get on the clothes?âÂ
William looked up at his son. âI told you, Iâm not going to talk without counsel.âÂ
âYou donât have anything to hide, you donât need a lawyer.âÂ
As Y/N watched Spencer interview his father, she felt weird. Something didnât add up. William was hiding something from them. Detective Hyde was not trying to help them but protecting someone else and Lou Jenkins had been at the precinct for God-knows what reason. Diana told them heâd gotten to her and that he couldâve gotten Spencer, but William had never laid a hand on Y/N, which meant she wasnât talking about William.Â
âDid you hear from Garcia on Michaelsâ whereabouts?â Y/N asked Derek.Â
He shook his head. âNo, why?âÂ
âI have a weird feeling about this,â she murmured.Â
Nodding his head, Derek reached for his phone. âIâll check up on them now,â he said and walked out of the room. It didnât take very many minutes for him to return and call Spencer away from his interview.Â
âGary Michaels is dead,â Derek told them what his boss, Hotch, had told him.Â
Y/N felt weak in her knees upon hearing the news. The hairs on the back of her neck raised while the feeling of fingertips grazing her skin left her feeling nauseous.Â
âY/N/N, you okay?â Spencer asked as he guided her into a chair.Â
Y/N shook her head as tears lined her eyes. âYour mother said heâd gotten to me, Spence. It was Gary⌠Heâs the guy that ââ A sob shook her entire body, keeping the words from coming out of her. âHeâsâ Heââ she tried over and over again, failing every time.Â
âHey, hey, Y/N/N, look at me,â Spencer placed both hands on her face, forcing her to look at him. âYouâre gonna be okay. Tell us what happened.âÂ
She sniffled. âI canât. I-I canât.âÂ
âOkay, thatâs okay,â Spencer whispered before looking up at his co-workers. âLetâs bring her homeââ
âNo,â she quickly interrupted and grasped his hands from her face. âI donât wanna go home. I donât wanna be alone.âÂ
Spencerâs thumb caressed her hands. âYou got to rest, Y/N/N. Where do you wanna go?âÂ
âI wanna come with you.âÂ
âSweetheart, I donât think thatâs a good idea right now,â said Derek. âWhere else does she feel safe?âÂ
With one glance at his best friend, Spencer knew where to bring her. âWith my mom.âÂ
As simple as that answer was, it was even simpler bringing her there. Y/N found Diana on the couch in the communal living room, leafing through an old photo book.Â
âHi, mama,â Y/N greeted, hoping she wouldnât see how puffy her eyes were or how scared she was. Diana looked up and smiled at the girl she considered her own daughter. âCan I sit with you?âÂ
She nodded and patted the spot beside her, showing the pictures in the book on her lap. âDo you remember this?â she asked, showing her a picture of her and Spencer at the beach, sharing an ice cream. âIt was the first time the two of you were allowed to have big-kids ice creams. You were so excited about it, you got most of it on your face and body.âÂ
Smiling at the memory, Y/N traced a finger across the laminated photo. Immediately, she felt a hundred times better. Coming here, visiting Diana, always made her feel better, no matter how shitty her day had been.Â
âSorry to interrupt,â the doctor spoke as he joined the two. âCan I talk to Diana?âÂ
âSure,â Y/N whispered and got up, but Diana quickly stopped her.Â
âWhatever you have to say, you can say it in front of her.â Y/N looked at the woman in surprise as she plopped back down. âSheâs family.âÂ
The doctor sighed and took a seat on the coffee table so he was in front of Diana. âIâm told youâre refusing medication.â Y/N blinked at Diana in surprise.Â
âIâm just holding off for a little while, if you donât mind,â Diana told her doctor.Â
âYou know what will happen,â the Doctor warned her calmly.Â
Diana nodded her head. âTremors, panic, and the voices,â she summed up, having memorized it all. âBut before that, when the fog lifts, a window of clarity. And I really need that right now.â
âI can give you some latitude here. Just tell me why,â said the Doctor.Â
Bowing her head down, Diana sighed. âI wanna remember,â she said solemnly, reaching for Y/Nâs hand to squeeze it as she looked at the picture of her son, his best friend, her mother and herself. All four of them. Happy as Larry.Â
âDiana, does this have anything to do with Spencer and what weâve been asking you about?â Y/N asked, squeezing her hand.Â
She looked at Y/N, her eyes softening with tears in her eyes. âI need to remember, Y/N/N. I need to remember who it was that got to you.â Her free hand went up to the young womanâs cheek, cupping it. Melting into the familiar touch, Y/N leaned into her hand, allowing her own tears to flow.Â
âShall I stay here with you until you remember?â Diana simply nodded her head in response and Y/N smiled before the two of them returned to the picture book after having thanked Dianaâs doctor.Â
It took a couple of hours, but the window of Dianaâs memory started widening and brightening. She told Y/N it was time and, along with the doctor, she brought the woman she considered her second mother to the precinct where she told Hyde to bring them to Spencer.Â
âAgent Reid,â Detective Hyde said as soon as he opened the door.Â
Spencer turned and with a booming voice, he yelled, âDo not interfere with this interrogation, Detective. This is not your case anymore.â
âSpence,â Y/N murmured softly, appearing from behind Hyde with his motherâs hand in hers.Â
âSpencer, it was me,â Diana told him. Spencer's eyes flitted from his mother to his father to his best friend before he finally made the decision to hear his mother out first. They headed into Detective Hydeâs office where his father perched against the desk and Spencer grabbed two chairs. One for his mother and one for Y/N. He himself took a seat on the sofa.Â
âIâd seen him around,â Diana started. âAt your ball games. At the park. You used to play chess there, do you remember?â Spencer softly nodded his head. âYou played with him once.âÂ
âWith Gary Michaels?â A shiver went down Y/Nâs spine.Â
Dianaâs hand squeezed Y/Nâs in reassurance. âI didnât know that was his name back then,â Diana admitted. âBut it wasnât unusual for you to play with adults. And youâd win, too. Iâd only started to grow concerned when I noticed him around Y/N/N. He â uhm,â Diana halted, unable to get the words across her lips.Â
âDid he do something to us?â Spencer asked, worried eyes flitting over towards the Y/H/C girl with the tears streaming down her face.Â
âNot to you, no,â Diana whimpered, squeezing Y/Nâs hand tighter.Â
Spencer leaned forward, wanting to crouch in front of his best friend, but then refrained and returned back to his seat, remembering how she reacted to that the other day. âY/N/N⌠You remember what happened to you, donât you?âÂ
Nodding her head, Y/N cried out. âHe touched me, Spence. I-I suppressed the memory for as long as I could remember, but-but when I saw his mugshot, I just⌠I suppose the memory just flooded back into my mind.â
âHe was inappropriate with Y/N/N, he looked at you like he wanted to do the same thing to you. I just couldnât let it happenâŚâ Diana continued, holding onto Y/Nâs hand.Â
âA mother knows,â Spencer recited something Diana had told him mere days ago. Diana nodded her head. âSo, you told Rileyâs dad?âÂ
Diana heaved in a deep breath. âTwo nights later, Lou called the house. He was agitated. He said he needed me to meet him. We went to stake out his house, Garyâs. He was bringing out the garbage when Lou asked me if that was him. He told me that that was Gary Michaels and that he had a history with kids⌠I-He then told me to go, but I didnât listen. He got out and I-I sat there, I couldnât move. It was like a dream, that paralysis in the face of something terrible.â
âWhat happened after that?â Spencer asked.Â
Clearing her throat, Diana bowed her head. âItâs okay, Diana,â William encouraged, placing a hand over Y/Nâs and Dianaâs locked hands. âGo on.âÂ
âAt some point I found myself walking towards the house. I found Lou hovering over Garyâs bloodied body⌠And the rest⌠Itâs all dark after that.âÂ
âYou came home,â William continued for her and turned to his son. âShe couldnât talk at first, but eventually I came to understand what had happened, and I knew that nobody could ever know.â
âSo you never told anyone?â Y/N asked, voice meek and fragile.Â
William shook his head. âNo, she could have been implicated. And I had to protect her.â
With teary eyes, Spencer looked up at Y/N before moving to his father. âYou were burning her bloody clothes,â he stated.Â
Both Diana and Will nodded their heads. âBut the knowing, you canât burn that away,â William said. âIt changed everything.â
âIs that why you left?â Spencer asked his dad.Â
âI tried to keep us together, Spencer, I swear to you, but the weight of that knowledge was⌠It was too much.âÂ
Y/N looked at Spencer. His bottom lip was quivering whilst the gears behind his eyes were working overtime. âYou couldâve come back,â he eventually told his dad. âWe could have started over.âÂ
âI didnât know how to take care of you any more,â he said to Spencer before turning to Y/N. âAnd I didnât know how to approach you, knowing ââ Will quickly stopped himself before he could burst into tears. âWhen I lost that confidence, there was no going back.â
âWhatâs done is done,â said Diana without a single ounce of resentment before turning back to her son. âAt least now you know the truth⌠Both of you.â She squeezed Y/Nâs hand again.Â
Spencer stared down at his hands for a couple of seconds and Y/N knew he was fighting back tears. âI was wrong about everything. Iâm sorry,â he squeeked.Â
Getting up from his spot against the desk, William went to sit next to Spencer. âMe too, Spencer.âÂ
A small smile spread across Y/Nâs lips as she sniffled. After everything that had happened, she was glad Spencer got some kind of closure with his dad. And, above all, she felt the hatred sheâd harbored for William Reid all these years, lift from her heart. Everything he did was to protect his family.Â
âSo,â Diana then said, lifting Y/Nâs hand and placing a kiss on it. âI believe these two have a couple of things they need to discuss.â She motioned to the youngest ones in the room. âPlus, I need to be back in my room before curfew.âÂ
With a smile, Y/N blew the woman a kiss. âIâll visit you tomorrow, mama.âÂ
âSee you next time, mom,â said Spencer as he got up and kissed his mother goodbye.Â
With that, Diana and William left the office, leaving Y/N and Spencer to their own devices. Y/N was watching the two leave with a smile on her face, not even noticing Spencer staring at her until he captured her attention.Â
âHey,â he said in a whisper. Y/N looked up at him. âCome here.â He patted the spot beside him.Â
Y/N moved from her spot on the chair to the couch where Spencer grabbed her hands and kissed her knuckles. âAre you okay?â she asked, cupping his face with her hands right after he kissed them.Â
âYeah. Yeah, I think Iâm gonna be,â he replied. âAre you?âÂ
Heaving in a deep breath, she let go of his face and dropped her hands in his lap where he grasped them again. âI suppressed those memories for so long and now I have to digest them all over again⌠Itâs gonna be a lot of therapy.âÂ
âDo you want me to go with you?â he asked, lifting her hands again to kiss them.Â
Y/N shook her head. âNo, I think they might need you in Quantico,â she said with a smile and wriggled one hand out of his grip to push back a strand of hair. This time, she didnât feel too awkward doing it.Â
âActually, I was thinking you could come with me to D.C.?â Y/N perked up at this news. âI-I talked to Hotch earlier and he, uhm, heâd like you to come in for a few, like, trial days at the BAU⌠Only if you want to, of course. I-I donât expect you to give your life up here to fly with me to Virginia and just throw your life upside down. I justââÂ
âSpence,â Y/N interrupted him with a chuckle. âIâd love to go with you. With you gone, thereâs nothing keeping me here.âÂ
Spencer let out an amused scoff as he looked at her. For a moment, it was just that; him looking at her, her looking right back. His eyes glimmered the way they always did when he looked at her. After all these years, it still made her feel like she was the only girl in the world.Â
âSpence,â she started in a whisper, âIââ Before she could even begin her sentence, a pair of soft lips shut her right up. At first, she was surprised, but she quickly melted into the kiss and let it completely overtake her senses.Â
âI know,â he whispered when he pulled back. âMe too.â With a smile on her face, she kissed him again, only for him to pull back after a few seconds. âYou did wanna tell me youâre in love with me right? Otherwise I probably read this situation very wrong.âÂ
Giggling, Y/N kissed him again. âIâve been in love with you since we were sixteen, Spence. You can be so dumb sometimes,â she told him between kisses, some of the words getting lost in his mouth.Â
âActually, itâs just that Iââ Before the man could go off on a rant about statistics and scientific facts, Y/N quickly shut him up by kissing him again.Â
After everything that had happened, this was not the ending Y/N had expected for her and Spencer, but she was happy that it was.Â
âAre you sure theyâre gonna like me?â Y/N mumbled as Spencer dragged her down the hospital corridors on the way to his co-worker, JJâs room. Heâd told her she had just given birth to a baby boy while they were in Vegas and it was the first thing they were going to do when they landed back in Virginia.Â
It also meant it was the first time his co-workers, and Y/Nâs new co-workers, were going to meet her in real life.Â
Spencer chuckled and pulled at her hand so that sheâd fall into his chest and he could kiss her passionately. âYes, I am sure,â he told her when he pulled away. âOh, weâre here,â he said, pointing at the room number.Â
He rapped two times on the doorpost, capturing everyoneâs attention in the room. âYou guys have room for two more in here?â he asked, smiling at his colleagues, especially as they looked at him with confusion in their eyes.Â
Pulling Y/N with him, he entered the room with a smile.Â
âSpence, hi,â the blonde in the hospital bed greeted with a smile.Â
âWelcome back,â the tall guy they had landed next to said to Spencer before his eyes landed on Y/N. âYou must be Y/N Y/L/N,â he said, holding out his hand for her to shake, which she did by letting Spencer go for a second. âAaron Hotchner, but everyone calls me Hotch.âÂ
âNice to meet you, Hotch,â Y/N said, grinning from ear to ear.Â
Spencer then turned to the little one in the room. âWow,â he said before his eyes landed on the father. âCongratulations.â He reached out his hand to shake.Â
âHow is it that I just went through fifteen hours of labor and you look worse than I do?â JJ asked, a hint of worry in her voice.Â
âDonât be ridiculous,â Spencer muttered. âYou look beautiful.âÂ
Y/N simply nodded her head in agreement at the sentiment. With one glance at her boyfriend, JJ wordlessly told him something the rest of the visitors didnât quite catch onto.Â
âWell, I could sure use some coffee. Anyone else?â he asked.Â
Everyone agreed and filed out of the room, one by one. When Y/N made a move to follow, catching onto JJ wanting to be alone with Spencer, he pulled her back to his side. âYou better not think about leaving my side.âÂ
Y/N shot a fleeting glance at JJ to check if she was okay with it. Judging by the smile on her face, the Y/H/C stayed put.Â
âAre you okay?â JJ asked as Y/N nudged him to move a little closer.Â
âYeah, yeah. You?âÂ
âYeah, yeah. You sure? Because thereâs something I wanted to ask you, but it can wait.âÂ
Feeling her heart leaping in her throat, Y/N tried her hardest to contain her excitement. She already knew where this was going.Â
âWhat is it?â he asked, brows furrowing ever so slightly.Â
JJ smiled and looked down at the baby in her arms. âWill and I were talking, and uh, we want you to be Henryâs godfather.âÂ
An excited squeal erupted from Y/Nâs throat, causing Spencer to look back at her in surprise. âI donât even know. I donât knowâŚâ he stuttered and stumbled, his eyes flicking back and forth from JJ to Y/N and back.Â
âHere, do you want to hold him?â she asked, already holding out the newborn for him to take. âItâs okay, here you go.âÂ
A little hesitantly, Spencer took the baby from his friend. âOh, hi, Henry,â he cooed.
âIf something were to happen to us, itâs up to you and Garcia to make sure this boy gets into Yale,â JJ joked.Â
Spencer puffed. âYale. Yale. Do you wanna go to Yale, Henry?â he asked the baby as though he could answer.Â
With a chuffed smile, Y/N joined Spencerâs side again. âThat was your godfatherâs safety school.â Spencerâs honey eyes met her Y/E/C ones in surprise before he turned back to the baby.Â
âDonât worry, I can get you into CalTech with one phone call,â he whispered to him like it was a secret.Â
As Spencer looked at the baby in his arms, he couldnât help but forget the stress he had felt in the past couple of days. If something so small and fragile could be in his arms without breaking, something JJ trusted him with, he was certain nothing else could touch him anymore.Â
Especially not with his best friend by his side.Â

Some thoughts about The Chosen S04E07
SPOILERS AHEAD (as resurrection may be a spoiler, I mean we all know Lazarus' story... but, you know, spoilers)
I think it was the most powerful episode so far.
To be honest â when I read the story about resurrection of Lazarus I always felt happines, but after today's episode I feel grief â just as Mary M.
And for the first time I thought that maybe seeing miracle like this one wasn't really easy for Jesus' followers. Seeing something like this and not understanding any of it must've been very difficult. As we see, disciples are only humans â they don't understand Jesus' words and actions most of the time. They think earthly as if they're not ready to think other way, for now.
And how hard it had to be for Jesus as He knew His time has come. I like how writers showed us His emotions for He was a human. And I think it's one of the greatest mysteries of all time that He was a God, just as He was a human.
As for Thomas, I read some comments saying that killing Ramah wasn't wise choise for writers. And I think I can see why they did this. Seeing Thomas grief was hard to watch as, I can bet, all of us had to face similar grief in our lives.
But I believe that, as Jesus said it Himself, following Him is not easy. But His ways are not our ways. I'm glad that writers decided to show us that following Jesus is not always simple, because indeed it's not. And sometimes, even if we praying and begging, the God's answear is still no. And it's hard, but I believe, I want to believe, they're greater ideas behing His intentions.
And I think that a lot of us â Christians â know something about it. Because we pray but we don't get what we prayed for and we beg but still don't get what we begged for. And sometimes we see other people getting exactly what we desired to get... And we ask: God, why not me...?
Yes, it's very hard and I don't understand it completely to be honest, but do you all remember His words from season 2?
But in this world, bones will still break, hearts will still break, but in the end the light will overcome darkness.
PS. Something sweet to end this post. The meeting between Mary and Matthew? And Matthew words? Still unusualy pleasant to look at? I loved it.

Hudson and Rex S04E07 - A Stab in the Dark Web Part A
Yes, I like this one. Why? Because I'm a fan of characters screwing up, being emotionally tortured, blaming themselves, etc. It fits in the general theme of S4 too.
Black letters in quotes: Actual show quotes.
Green letters in quotes: What I come up with my twisted brain.
Disclaimer: I actually like all the characters, even when I comment negative things about them. Just remember that when you read this lol
Iris has blue streaks on her hair. It's the first time I'm noticing.
He's probably the only one.
So, Charlie hasn't been sleeping... for how long? "Again" means that he's done this before and that Sarah knows about it. Of course, I don't expect these people to have a normal sleeping schedule. But if anything, it's indicative that something's wrong. Would it kill them to write a PTSD storyline? (Well, it might have killed the audience, but I'd be happy.)
Sarah knows... quite a bit about psychedelic mushrooms.
"I did mushrooms in college" is not exactly the first thing you share in a new relationship, Joe.
lol what the actual fuck.
They used an actual onion URL. It's amazing how much attention they pay to some details when they don't really work that hard on going deep on their main characters.
Okay, Iris died from the drugs. Case closed.
Damn it. Don't you guys have enough work?
Why is Roman mythology exactly like Greek mythology with different packaging (names)?
Chat history on the dark web. Good one.
Charlie's grandmother is alive?
Why would Mercurius trust someone who with their username proclaims that they're two-faced?
"I'm a capable police officer, not a go-fer."
Rex's head is turning like he's watching a match with both their reactions. I'm thinking that his thoughts are somewhere between "who are you two trying to fool" and "I'm going to bite you".
He said most of that under his breath. In a "I'm not happy with this development" way.
"This could turn into something, huh?" Yes, if you don't do anything about it.
"We both like to run." Are you kidding me? I mean, were you actually actively looking for Charlie's replacement?
"I don't like that homewrecker and I haven't even met him."
"Seriously, Charlie? You're actually helping this along?"
They seriously stuck this technologically inept (sorry Charlie) guy with a tech-savvy criminal. And maybe they didn't know about the fact that she was the co-owner of the website then but they knew she was tech-savvy and a person of interest who was being uncooperative.
"Most people are loyal to their usernames." That all changes when you make a shady website. I mean, I have my username since I was 15 but I wouldn't use it to commit a crime, unless I was a complete moron.
That is... a... look... And I also saw the tattoo on his arm.
They got chemistry, what can I say?
This website is a parody of Silk Road, by the way.
I think Charlie was totally thrown by the fact that Rex seemed to trust Eva so easily. Only, as we find out later, Rex wasn't acting like that because he trusted her.
You're both idiots. You could have kept her inside the bullpen.
Please. Then how do you even know that hubris is Greek? Charlie is being portrayed as having an all-round knowledge in this one. Aside from the one thing that could be useful to him in this case. Technology.
Crap, the image limit already got me. To be continued in Part B.

Gallavich Intro
uh huh, thank you @callivich for these encouragement reblogs post, so here we are!
(nick)Name: Doshi
Age: 22
What made you fall in love with Gallavich? I mean⌠gallavich, they're they. Okay, if serious, I just knew about them but never interested in it and don't remember whether I watched this show before or not. But I seen all of seasons attentively only in November 2023. Then I fell into it entirely and completely.
How long have you been a fan? 3.5 months / since November 2023
Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? oh god, it's hard.. so many really awesome scenes. I want to highlight a few and maybe make a top.
Mickey Watching Over Ian [S04E07] â my s-tier, i love re-watch this scene, i love this song (and i'm so sad that it's been removed from spotify but ok whatever). It's incredibly emotional, that's all. Mickey is so protective, there are so many thoughts on his face. And this silent talk with Svetlana screams very loudly for me. I just like to think that in that moment Mickey is thinking about how much he loves Ian and how glad he is that he's finally here.
"First Time I Felt Anything SinceâŚ" [S05E10] â just one more emotional scene before disaster. Really like it and the song is good too.
The Club Kiss [S04E08] â they are so touch starved for each other's. yummy.
"I Gotta Worry. You're My Husband." [S11E04] â it's really sad that this scene was deleted :\
"Rain On Me." [S11E07] â PLEASE they're so domestic and comfort, singing together, what could be better??
idk i just can't stop?? ok i'm quickly pick these important ones for me: "Don't." [S03E12] "Ian. Look At Me." [S04E10] "Sorry I'm Late." [S05E08] The Dock Scene [S07E10] "A lot." [S07E11]
Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey? Carl! I actually really love a lot of the characters, but Carl the most. Love his character development, love his sibling bonding with Debbie and how they grew together, as well as his brotherly relationship with his elders. Love his interactions with Mickey and wish there was more. He's so sweet and silly kitty. I also had a crush on Sandy and would have liked to see more of a storyline with Debbie, but eh.
Do you write or draw or make edits? I draw! tag in tumblr / commissions open + other social
Favourite type of Gallavich fics? I'm absolutely in love for AUs! Before gallavich I didn't realize how much I loved the AUs. It's just amazing and this fandom is amazing because there are so many things I want to read, but there are sooooo many. I love multi-chaps and slowburn! Any universe, the main thing is our boys and tension between them!
Most of all I want to mention my love for texting/social media or something like that. I like it when text messages are inserted into the writing.
I prefer fluff, but I have nothing against angst, only if it is hurt/comfort. I love getting different emotions and I love crying too, but I don't like bad endings.
Favourite Gallavich quote? "You're Under My Skin, Man." "What You And I Have Makes Me Free." "Hit My Husband Again, I'll Fucking Kill You." "Don't fucking tell me what's impossible! We're taking care of him here. You, me, us. His fucking family. "Fuck You, Fuck You, And Especially Fuck You!"
Anything else youâd like to share about yourself? I'm a bit of a shy introverted lurker and didn't understand at all how tumblr blogging system worked until that moment, usually I just threw my art and ran away. But now I'm watching how people do their posts (use a queue?? what). And I wasn't completely sure how to blog with drawings without turning it into something personal, but it seems that's the point of blog?
So I'm just getting used to everything and want to stay in the shameless fandom, because it's very nice to be here. You are all very nice people and I have already become attached to y'all.
Apart from anything else, I have a huge obsession. I constantly read something new that comes into my hands, and I have a lot of ideas for new arts. (I might even want to do an edit, but shhh, I'm not sure I'm really mentally ready yet haha).
So yeah, you are truly amazing and I hope to be more active in the fandom! <3

Aqua Teen Hunger Force #93: âA PE Christmasâ | December 13, 2009 - 11:45PM | S08E01 regular series version aired March 15, 2010 @ 12:00AM
Itâs the Aqua Teen Christmas episode, in which Shake and Meatwad steal Public Enemyâs identity and try to cut a rap record to sell on Christmas. Itâs a pretty bad plan because they record it on Christmas eve and Shake sorta just believes the CD will appear in stores on Christmas day. The stores arenât even open on Christmas day!! SHAKE COME ON!Â
Mostly this one just consists of two scenes: one where the Aqua Teens attend Christmas mass and Shake acts childish. Thereâs a nice crowd scene filled with people from previous episodes, and for some reason the monsters are all sitting on the opposite side of the room. You hate to see a segregated church on Christmas. Then thereâs the scene in the recording studio, with Shake and Meatwad coming up with bad ideas and recording them. The gag at the end of this, where Shake takes a big shit and it winds up on Meatwadâs track for Silent Night, is pretty low-brow, but itâs maybe the funniest thing in the episode. I donât want to like it, Iâm not about that life.Â
This episode featured a bit of a twist where it turns out that Shake was filled with eels, hence his violent butthole outbursts. The original broadcast of this ended with Shake in jail, because he broke into a Better Buy store to see how his record was selling. He gets exploded to death after a bunch of eels burst out of him. When this episode aired as part of season seven, they added an ending that sorta explains that the Eels belonged to Chuck D (flagrantly misidentified as Flava Flav on the ATHF wiki).Â
This oneâs pretty lame, TBH. There were things in it I liked, but the best thing being a poo poo joke really should sum it all up. It also mildly perturbed me that this one airs between the live-action episode and the official season premiere âRabbot Reduxâ which includes some continuity, so I numbered it according to the in-season air order. It also airs in some fucked up order on DVD! I donât know why! I donât know why they do that!Â
Oh yeah I also liked the part where Shake rudely bangs on the glass in the recording studio. Pretty funny.

15th Annual Holiday Content Marathon (December 18, 2009)
An evening of Christmas specials. Also scheduled was âGaryâs Posseâ, a promo that aired for a show that didnât actually exist; in fact, I forgot all about this. Garyâs Posse was put on the schedule for AM this evening, but it was just a repeat of King of the Hill. Swimpedia (where I got this and nearly all of my scheduling information from) uncovered the fact that this is actually just stock footage from Julien Tromeur called "Afraid of your sexual fantasies." The promo advertising Garyâs Posse was just a gag.Â
10:00/2:00 King of the Hill: Livin' on Reds, Vitamin C and Propane (Schedule Promo Falsely Announced Gary's Posse at 2:00 AM)
10:30/2:30 King of the Hill: 'Twas the Nut Before Christmas

Worth noting about THE VENTURE BROS S04E07 "THE BETTER MAN"... it features the use of the Dana Snyder character completely unironically going "sooo... that happened." Granted this was right before that became the exclusive domain of MCU-type dialogue, but it still hit my ear about as harshly as any Bush-era slur. Nasty!
OH YEAH! I think I made note of that but for some reason it didn't make my write-up. i couldn't tell if that was bad writing or if that was an intentional character thing, but usually characters call each other out for saying stuff like that. So, that happened.

S04E07: When The Kids Are Away
Pairing: Pierre x Amy from Huling Panyo (Karaoke Nights, #3)
Prompt: Fluff bingo - Date night
It's been a while since Pierre and Amy had their own date night since they had their first kid. When Tina offered to babysit Jeni and Patch, they didn't hesitate to agree so they could have time for themselves.
Don't get them wrong. They love their kids a lot. But lately, it was all about them. They both miss having time for each other. Now that Jeni and Patch are out of the house, Pierre and Amy wanted to do a lot of things. "Where do we even start?" Pierre asked her.
Amy started at the kitchen and prepared themselves a decent breakfast, which they haven't had for the past few years. Pierre joined her to lend a hand. Since they had their daughters, it was always rushed because they have to stick to their routine.
While they were eating their decent breakfast for the first time in forever, Amy wondered, "What if we dress up just for tonight for a date night?"
"Are we gonna eat out or gusto mo rito sa bahay?" asked Pierre.
"Dito na lang sa bahay," sabi nito. Maybe this is part of growing old together. You learn to be satisfied on low maintenance dates as long as you're with the love of your life.
"Alright. I'll cook dinner and you can prepare and dress up all you want. Game?"
Umiling si Amy. "No way! I'll help you cook dinner."
They decided to cook steak and alfredo, something they both wanted to try to cook ever since. Having kids made them settle for cooking something the kids would like and something that would be good for their health.
Tama nga ang sinabi sa kanila ng kaibigan nilang si Chona. Once you have a kid at your house, it will always be all about them. Sila na lang palagi mong aalalahanin at aasikasuhin. But you do this out of love for them anyway so you endure through it.
So Amy and Pierre did all the things they wish they could do right now from cooking their desired dishes to cleaning the entire house to catching up on their favorite TV show. After dinner, they immediately washed the dishes and headed to the bathroom for their night routine.
While brushing their teeth, Pierre still had one thing in mind that he wanted to do while the kids are still away. "I still want to do something."
"Ano yun?"
Pierre whispered something to Amy's ear, which is ridiculous because they are the only persons in the room. Amy smirked upon hearing Pierre's request. "One condition."
"Anything."
"We're gonna use protection. Ayaw ko pang masundan ulit si Patch," sabi ni Amy.
Pierre agreed strongly. "Deal."

He swallows. âHeââÂ
 ââdamned himself. So youâve said.âÂ
They stare at each other, and the distance between them seems to be growing in leaps and bounds. Arthur canât remember the last time he felt so estranged from Merlin, not during the whole disaster with Caerleon, or when Merlin disappeared. Not even whenâ
âThen Iâve damned myself as well.âÂ
Without intending to, Arthur pushes Merlin just one step too far. Now he's left without his manservant but a hundred questions, a world of hurt, and guilt that clings to him like a shadow. Well, and a notebook filled with drawings because apparently, Merlin can draw on top of being a sorcerer. No matter how often Arthur tells himself that he just wants to forget, he can't help but come back to the collection of sketches and notes, a chronicle of all that Merlin has done. Maybe their story isn't quite over yet.
