I know what you meant but just the entire term "T boy swag" reminded me of my fav rapper who just goes by "T" and since I wanted to do that for a while anyway (his songtexts would resonate with Flug so much) I used this as an excuse to redraw one of his album covers, so I love that, I'm gonna steal that heheh

(relatively unrelated for everyone except me lol but I always throw in some art when replying to asks)

umm yeah so... we're not even done with the first season, so idk. from S1-B I predict more of what we've had so far; more or less episodic comedy, slowly easing us into a connected plot. 6th episode already kinda introduced that.

it's gonna be one of those cartoons like TOH who start off silly and episodic in the first season and develop into a melodramatic serialized show from 2nd season onwards.

this is going to be an unpopular opinion but I actually do not 100% vibe with that, I prefer episodic cartoons like SpongeBob or South Park without overarching plot; comedy over drama. but it was always obvious that Villainous is gonna have a fuck ton of lore so I'm not disappointed.

my criticism rn is that I feel it's already way too many characters I'm sorry. it's getting pretty convoluted. I'm just not a fan of that but again pretty subjective. I can't bring myself to care for absolutely any character that we haven't seen animated yet. it's been too long for me to throw too many new characters in the mix, I've been nonstop hyperfixated since 7 years so I'm skeptical about changes.

as for the plot, I have no idea. we're in so early that I can't even imagine where this is gonna go.

for the end I wish that no ship with the main 3 becomes canon. it's just going to create fandom wars, just leave it open

Am I too late?? It's time for another birthday redraw to celebrate another year on earth!

This year I redrew The Winged Reaper, the Diedra!

Here's the original from way back in 2017! There's no real serious reason I wanted to go back to this one. It's maybe one of my first big dragons I did digitally? But truth be told it's just a cool design I still like and wanted to give another go. Hope y'all like the redo :)

And as for me? Well I'm a little late here as I'm writing this at 3 AM (it was REALLY hard to get this redesign looking in a way I was happy with, usually I have these things done the day before but this time I made it today lol) but hopefully you can bear with me for a little birthday message from me to you. This year has been pretty bad, I'll be honest. I've been going through a bit of a rough patch but I do hope you all have liked what I've been able to draw even if I don't feel as creative as I usually am lately. I'm 26 and as my 30's are slowly creeping up I'm getting a little sad about how little I feel like I've done in my 20's. I know I complained about a similar thing last year but I guess I'm just a little self conscious about my work and who I am as a person lately. But it's okay, there's still the whole rest of the year ahead of us and I know I'm far from the only person going through the wringer this year. So I won't be a bummer about it for too long. next year is kind of up in the air for me, I have a lot I want to get done, but I'm not sure how it's all gonna go. But we'll see when we get there I guess! I'm slowly getting back to working on my own stuff too and hopefully you all can see some progress on that sooner rather than later. I know I've been maybe not on my A game lately but I still really want to say thank you all so much for all the support. I know I say it every year but it really does mean the world to me and whenever I see people just making small talk or liking my art it really does make the days feel a little bit better. I truly do appreciate you all even if I don't show it well. Thank you all so much for being my friend, or a fan, or whatever. I hope by this time next year I'll be feeling better and we can have a wonderful birthday redraw. Until then though, best of luck to everyone through the rest of 2024 :)

I grew up loving to draw. I did not do it to show it to someone in the first place. Since I had no speacial goal I got better very slowly, but that's fine. I never pushed my skills actively forward- so there's nothing to complain about.

The digital journey began with ms paint (left) I scanned the lines and used a mouse.

Paint net (right) still no graphic tablet but the program had line- and curve thingys I could draw with and of course.... Layer XD

I don't know exactly- but between this pictures might be 2 or 3 years. This is from my non shipping time. These days this is totally shipping content and you are not allowed to think otherwise XD Platonic love (bromance) seems not to be a thing online anymore. And I miss it.

I lived for the aesthetics!!! Still do XD

Realistic stuff helped me. Everytime I tryed to draw irl people in manga/comic style - you had NO chance to recognise them XDD That got better haha

A little tip:

Write the date onto your artpiece. (onto the backside if you draw on paper) You'll be thankfull in a couple of years^^

And one other thing: If you desperately try to find your style: How you draw right now IS your style. And you (can) have different styles. It changes all the time! It's not an end point of your drawing journey- because there is none. Keep evolving. Find ways to draw you like. Even then, move on^^

Quick update + A little treat!

Hello! I won't be very active during July because of ArtFight and a few illustrations i have planned (on top of my job, send help), so to make up for the upcoming lack of content, here's some insight on how i animate my Twst Chibis :)

(shoutout to the person who sent an ask about this topic! idk if i misclicked or if you took it down yourself, but it made me really happy to be asked and i spent 4 hours writing this as an answer, so i'm posting anyway lol)

I'll be taking Mafuyu as the exemple here, because he's the most complete one i made so far.

Firstly, here's some WIPs i saved showing off his faces and hair bones

Basically i went ahead and made an entire rig for him, since i know i'm eventually going to come back and make him more reactions and outfits. I started from scratch so it took a while, but at least now i have a nice base ready to go!

The original sketch was made on CSP, then the model itself and animation were made on Toon Boom because i haven't learned to use Live 2D yet.

Great thing about that is that it ended up being fully vectorized, which is always a plus if i ever need to resize him.

Here's a zoom (or huh, as close up in as my screen will allow) on all the elements, and their hierarchy. From the left are the elements that show up on top of everything (pearls, hair, head & face), to the ones that are behind everything on the right (cardigan back, braid, shadow):

It's kinda tricky to describe but all elements have their individual pegs (the green bits), which then get linked up additionally and in groups, so for example if i start selecting from the hand and go up, it goes:

Hand -> Hand + Forearm -> Hand + Forearm + Upper arm -> Both Arms + Torso + Head + Hair -> Upper Body + Pelvis + Both Legs

Once the model was done it was onto animating!

No secrets here, i really just tried my best to match the rhythm of how the in-game models move, what movements came back regularly etc... So typically: the heads often bop up and down in a specific way when they laugh or look up, the entire body stretches slightly when they jump or get startled, things like that.

I keep thinking that technically i shouldn't have animated the bangs because the in-game models have pretty limited hair animations, but hhh it felt too important to skip for Mafuyu (and mostly i was just having fun lol).

Just for fun, here's what most of my timeline looks like for the idle animation:

I'm confident that the og animations are fully tweened, so i did that too. But ofc with some adjustments to the timing so it doesn't look stiff. Since everything is on ones I didn't have the patience to go back and modify frames by hand lol.

It was especially tricky to figure out how to make the elbows look good, because of the pattern on his cardigan. I had to redraw the arms like 4 times to have them work in all positions. I spent many minutes looking at in-game models that had checkered sleeves (White Rabbit Deuce ended up being my main reference) to analyse how they made theirs work. I could've bothered making a clipping texture that I could warp to match the movement of the arm but,,, that probably would've killed my motivation entirely, i was determined to make this look good, but not THAT much lmao

The bangs, braid and cardigan were the only elements that i animated with bones and warps, for everything else i just used basic pegs to rotate and stretch the limbs

After that i just threw a Ramshackle themed bg behind him and gifed him up, and Voilà!

Random/fun facts, because why not:

The shoes took me 4 hours to make, because im really not used to drawing with vector tools, all those details made it hell lol

His proportions are mostly based off of Ruggie's model :)

I think that about covers it! I tried going into details without being boring, so hopefully it's still understandable, and maybe even interesting for curious folks 🤞

It said longer hair, I had been contemplating how to handle it and finally tried something! I didnt really want to put the headband since I thought it looked nice without it. But since it's so much a part of her I didn't want to make her hair too long so I just made the sides around the same length as the slightly longer hair I did. It was really fun drawing this I really loved the challenge of the hair lol. I made another doodle but I thought it'd be a little too much for me to handle posting... maybe one day! I'll redraw and clean it up or something haha.

I dont know if this guy had a description of how he looked but I thought he was funny.

I also realized how hard it is to remember details about them so I had to keep rereading stuff I really want to draw something nicer for some parts but for now I'll be satisfied with these doodles. It made me realize how amazing it is to be able to write and draw its so beautiful I hope I can keep doing this for a long time.

long story short she's lowkey manipulative as hell but as of rn alexis doesn't know that cuz he's only like a year or 2 max into his superhero-ing

idk maybe i'll make a masterpost on alexis' lore one day, it's all in a hodge podge of google docs rn because i just kinda throw things at the wall n see what sticks when i'm bored at tafe

A request for something a little different than usual 🍑👑

Progress stuff below:

I haven't done progress shots in a bit and I think it's something I want to do more often because I like talking and blogging I guess haha.

Now that I have more experience illustrating digitally, this kind of direct reference drawing is MUCH easier to do digitally 😫honestly this felt like a self imposed challenge lol. BUT I did want to do some more traditional stuff because I feel that I had been doing a little too much digital, if that makes sense. It's nice to play with my markers and color pencils once in a while too!!

Doing the line art on this piece ESPECIALLY felt easier to do traditionally than digitally. For some reason, trying to do line art on a tablet screen feels too smooth or slippery or something. Lining traditionally feels easier, probably because I put so much pressure on the paper in the sketch phase that when the lining phase comes next, it feels like I'm just following the lines on the page like a train on a track ^_^

despite uploading a couple of illustrations colored with marker now, I still feel a bit like a novice when it comes to marker. I got a new pack of markers that I wanted to play with, which was even more motivation to return to paper for a bit. But honestly, I feel like I fudged the window color blending. I watched tutorials and stuff on blending with markers but I guess I still need more practice ^^;;; at least it looks a bit messy to me. This is how this piece came to be a mixed media illustration, since I tried using color pencils to make that transition from blue to green on the windows a little smoother.

I think the pot holding the piranha plant came out a tad too saturated and it's calling too much attention compared to the very light floor and dresser. I was trying to follow the colors on the reference closely as an easy re-intro to traditional art, but next time I do something like this, I think I'll take more liberties with color and see what happens.

Overall, I'm quite happy with how Peach turned out. I don't draw humans too often since I typically draw Sonic characters lol. Sometimes it feels like I have to re-teach myself to draw people as a result. I really liked using the gelly roll for the highlights on her face and the polka dots on her shirt :3 I highly recommend using that pen as my previous experiences with other white gel pens don't compare to this one (not to sound like a commercial I'm just really happy it worked as well as it did!).

And finally, although redrawing a creation from a dress up game screenshot is probably not the most imaginative exercise I could be doing with illustration, I think it's fun and it's pushing me to do things outside of my comfort zone. I'm using new art tools (I'll get better with marker I prommy) and I drew a background! I'd like to do more backgrounds like this as a practice to encourage more original stuff. Maybe. One day. Probably.

Also, inspired by your recent posts of Fel carrying Osiris, I was thinking... How about drawing a pietà scene with them? Or maybe with Red and Fel, that would be more thematically correct for a pietà.

ALSO also: I remember quite a while ago, you posted drawing of our favourite Hunters as hunters from Bloodborne (and what amazing pictures they are!!! I drooled over them for hours I swear) and you wondered in the tags how Exos would even work in a setting like that? I forget your exact wording but whatever. I present to you: the concept of steampunk Exos! Steam powered, even. Bloodborne is seemingly based on Victorian England, so it could work! Possibly. Maybe. If they can do weird blood magic they can do steampunk Exos :)

Well that's an interesting idea, I'm writing it odwn! I sometimes think about doing homages of some artworks, but I always feel like... it's too much responsibility maybe?.. I feel like I have to make it look absolutely flawless and that's utterly impossible, so I'm scared to even try and mostly just rotate all the ideas in my head, lol. For example, with Red and Fel I was thinking about redrawing Repin's "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan", since it's. well, pretty much exactly what happened akjsdhfkj (It's an extremely famous painting in Russia, portraying tsar Ivan the Terrible, who accidentally killed his own son in a fit of anger and got absolutely devastated once he realized what he's done. Tbh it's so well-fitting that I've always wondered if it was an intentional reference to that story from Bungie. Most likely no, but still! Very on point.)

There's one painting though, which I think I can actually make a homage of... Mostly because I wanted to draw something like that with Felwinter myself, so when I've seen that painting I was like whoa! That's it!! But I won't say which one it is, he-he... Hopefully I'll get it done soon

About the Exos - oh yes!!! That's possible! Actually, I've finally got my hands on "Lies of P" recently (and I freaking love that game already), and it has something similar going on there. At least, I think so; there's still some ~magic~ included from what I got so far. But I'm still at the beginning, so! Will see later! Very curious about how puppets work there in general and how there's such a... drastic gap in quality between P himself and everyone else.

(Please don't tell me anything about it though, I want to dig into everything myself)

Completed Inktober 2024! Last time I did this was in 2018, with some dinky little doodles in a notebook. Now I'm learning digital 💪

Prompts were from the QZGS rarepair week for 2024 and 2023. Next year perhaps I'll continue going down the list. I tried to have a specific area/skill I wanted to work on with each day.

5) "fragile": [RS] This is my favorite shot of the Rainbow Sea OP, which is already such a banger full of symbolism and narrative. The way this moment is directed to make you think you're watching Maidang himself, until the moment he punches and the mirror shatters and you realize—oh, his Rainbow Stone was on the wrong wrist, it was a reflection all along. Timed to the music, it's so excellently done...

9) "wait": [GFS] X waits, alone and helpless, for news of his father's surgery. He can only watch from afar, and the framing of the background is meant to evoke his car window. He didn't want news of his current situation to cause stress that would worsen his father's heart condition, but his absence is already causing stress enough—yet this was the only course he felt he could take to save his family...

13) "caution": [RS] I love Tang Wude and I love this moment, what can I say? Strolls in looking wack and casual, and then immediately establishes dominance over a crew of criminals. Umbrella users my beloved. This one might be my favorite overall due to all the colors and lighting, and the background was so much fun to draw!

17) "precious": [YB2] Eighth Room is so precious to me. Just look at them! I think this was the one I spent the most time on? This is a redraw of a shot from one of the reality shows the actors filmed together. Spent some time debating what hairstyles to give them; I need to give it some more thought still.

18) "abandon": [TKA] I want to get better at putting together nice sketch pages! Also at hands lol. I was surprised? impressed? that I managed to make Tyranny ZJL look older and more tired compared to HB ZJL—I'm not sure if it was even so distinct in the original.

19) "past": [YB1] I liked the composition of these images, and drawing this moment upon the brushstrokes of the background. I think about this flashback and cri everytime

23) "foreign": [YB2] I wanted to practice side profiles, didn't like how his turned out, but then really DID like the second sketch I did, which was way more fun than I anticipated. He looks cool! Maybe too cool. The extremely intricate outfits are fun to depict in sketch form, and I like his hairstyle here even though everyone was roasting it lol. The lines of the background are just roughly meant to evoke what was actually in the bg of the reference shot, but I quite liked the effect.

25) "freedom": [YB2] I just really like how Chu Niao turned out here, with the details of her costume and her expression. Look at them talking about their future 🥺

26) "peak": [YB2] I think this was the only painterly one I did, but I liked how the vibes turned out—the half-obscured fire, the costume of a god, the crouched figures, the distant mountains and clouds. A unique shot that should be very distinct to those who've watched.

29) "color": [YB2] As you can see I was feeling very emo about YB2 in the latter half of the month haha. This was such an emotionally charged scene and there are 3000 words packed into Wen Wuqi's glance back as Hua Cishu carefully avoids meeting the gaze of someone he's not supposed to know...

Okay, that's a pretty weird idea, but it's just that I have one favorite band called "the Garden" and they just have one music video of song "Egg" that reminds me a lot of Vash and Knives vibes for some reason. Because of this, I decided to make a small "redraw" of one frame from this video with them. Although, I have changed some details tho.

(To be honest, I don't like it lol. I'm happy with the background and colors as much as possible, but maybe one day I'll draw it again.)

Not-Jojo content for a hot minute! Let's talk about the Borderlands movie...

First things first, I don't know if you know this, but my nickname comes from Borderlands. Although now I only talk and draw about Jojo's, I'm still a big fan of the Borderlands games.

When I played the first game, I loved the concept about sirens, and it was back then when I started using my actual nickname (circa 2010). Then, when Borderlands 2 came out, I was obsessed with Handsome Jack. And when I say obsessed, I mean OBSESSED with huge and bold capital letters. I consider Borderlands 2 the best Borderlands game of them all, and The Pre-Sequel is a close one just because of my full Jack obsession, lol.

Keep reading for my opinion about the trailer...

I don't remember when they announced that they were making a Borderlands movie, maybe 2017-ish??? I was extremely excited, thinking that they would adapt the story of the games (back then, I think Borderlands 3 wasn't even announced, but they could have started as a trilogy...). I even fantasized about the idea of Dameon Clarke, Handsome Jack's VA in English, being Jack in the movie as well. But that dream was long gone when I read that the film would not exactly follow up the story we all know. And the wait to see something about this movie was LONG.

I finally watched the trailer when they released it, and even it's not the story I was hoping to see... I kinda like it. I didn't feel the hype I expected being a huge Borderlands fan, but I think I can still enjoy it. Some stuff from the movie feels off (like Roland's personality... he doesn't feel like Roland at all... and where are Lilith siren tattoos!?!?!?), but other stuff feels total in the style of Borderlands (people bullying Claptrap in some way is a must). The movie has its flaws, but people on Reddit keep bitching about Lilith and Tannis being too old, Roland being too short... ugh, I don't fucking care about the cast not being aesthetically perfect (but I admit that I would have liked them to). If the actors and actresses do a good job interpreting their characters and the story fits the Borderlands' universe with good humor and action, I'll consider myself lucky.

That was my impression of the trailer in English, but I'm from Spain, so the next day I watched the trailer again, but dubbed in Spanish, and... it felt way funnier! At least Tina's phrases sounded funnier for me (instead of saying "it's in my mouth!" she says "I swallowed it" lmao), and some voices suit the characters better than the original ones. Usually, it's the other way around, lol!

I think the localization will improve the movie for me, and that gives me some hope to enjoy the movie besides all the bitching on Reddit. Seriously, guys, stop complaining about people's bodies... there are other things to be criticized...

Fukigen na Mononokean, chapter 1: The beginning

hi everyone! as I said a few days ago, i wanted to read fukimono again because i was feeling nostalgic, and this manga was once basically my life. said and done, i just finished the first chapter, i'm glad i decided to return to this beautiful story. let's get to it!

first of all i think the cover of chapter 1 was a redrawing of a barakamon illustration? or maybe the other way around? if someone can confirm or correct me...

anyway!! as we all know our beloved fukimono begins with ashiya hanae (my son) being possesed by a youkai. and i love fuzzy so much is not even normal. well our ashiya boy is going to meet abeno haruitsuki very soon, with the hope that he exorcises the youkai but... he'll end the chapter with a stable job. so good for him, i can't relate.

i find so funny that ashiya keeps hitting fuzzy because it's like darling you are going to LOVE that thing. of course at the same time it's sad because poor fuzzy just wants some attention, but that's the whole point of the chapter.

i love picturing abeno making that flyer for some reason it looks amusing in my mind

one thing i was thinking while reading is that both ashiya encoutering fuzzy and ashiya finding abeno's flyer seem kind of contrived. but on one hand, ashiya would encounter another youkai sooner or later, and he would end in the same situation. and on the other hand, ashiya and abeno are classmates, so they were bound to meet in one way or another, and eventually ashiya would get abeno's attention. so what happens in this chapter is just one of the possible paths, it was going to happen no matter what. and i personally like the fate perspective. the idea of characters being connected in a superior way, having an objective or a mission... of course they need to have range to act, but i like when fate is involved (or when i feel that fate is involved).

summary: ashiya and abeno were destined to meet! yay!

one of the main strenghts of fukimono and probably what got me hooked since the beginning is the dynamics between ashiya and abeno. their personalities are such a powerful combination, their constant quarreling is hilarious... but at the same time it's so emotional, even in chapter one they are already bonding. and i have to say, i do ship abeshiya, in fact it's the ship i have supported the most in my whole life, but their relationship is so solid even if you don't ship them? they simply work together, no matter if you think of them romantically or platonically

this moment got me !!!! back then... i was like WHY WHO WHAT WHEN... the theories wow we knew this was a key moment ahhh i really want to keep reading

the bond between ashiya and fuzzy tho... i love them. and to see ashiya getting so attached in a matter of hours, he's the sweetest.

i've always loved this tender side abeno shows to youkai too. his connection to youkai is one of my favorite things in the manga.

the en bills look so cool if i had the minimum artistic talent i would make some for me tbh but sadly that's not the case lol

and so my obsession with a monthly manga began ugh seriously thank you wazawa kiri because you kind of saved me. i was so depressed when i started following fukimono.........

such a good first chapter. it's a perfect introduction to the youkai world, even if we don't know that much about it so far. the characters shine from their very first appearances. the soul of the story is already there. it's funny and it's touching at the same time, and that's basically fukimono.

i want to go little by little, i don't want to binge the whole thing, so in a few days i'll get to chapter two. when i posted about revisiting fukimono and stuff the other day i got like 5 notes? and i was so happy because i wasn't expecting interactions at all!! it's good to see that people still remember it. so if you stay with me, that'll make me super happy, seriously if this post reached only one person, that'd mean the world to me.

also sorry my first language is not english as you can imagine anddd it's soooo hot here and i'm sooooo weak against hot temperatures. so yeah sorry if this was a hell to read.

if the "actual ice cream part" (ie the thing you were here for) consists entirely of distasteful panty shots, imagery intended to evoke nazism and one unnecessarily brutal depiction of a hate crime then you deserve to have whatever imaginary issues you make up about it happen to you lol

it's genuinely hilarious how readily people will admit they were only ever here for the predatory or bigoted shit that Mike Z pushed for and not "the cone" aka. you know. any part of the actual fucking game

nothing was substantially changed. no element of the story or gameplay was altered. the aforementioned hate crime still happens, it's just that it's implied now instead of depicting the victim getting fucking stomped to near-death. the Egrets are still a hypermilitary arm of the Canopian monarchy based on actual WWII militaries, it's just that they don't have the armbands that were clearly denoted nazi symbology. the renders that remove the panty shots are fucking improved because it actually appears as though the affected characters are being restrained, which is what was supposed to be depicted in them.

this is a fantastic fighting game with a rocky history because of the original developers that worked on it. these are, each and every single one, changes that any rational person would agree are good, because they unanimously remove imagery that is deeply, deeply disgusting at best and flagrantly bigoted at worst. as an actual player of the game with nearly 600 hours across multiple platforms, i fully understand if these are things you aren't able to reconcile.

the only reason i'm not advocating for more changes like this is that this is a fully hand-animated game, and many of its aspects would require you to redraw dozens, hundreds or thousands of frames to fix. the fact that Future Club, the new devs, are planning to do that ANYWAYS is something to be celebrated if you have your head screwed on even a little bit right.

there is no justification for advocating against these changes that doesn't immediately throw you into the worst possible light. you can cry censorship all you want but at the end of the day this game you have 30 minutes in has all the right in the world to change its content however it pleases, ESPECIALLY if it is unanimously to remove imagery that is inarguably awful.

replying to @floffpoff from this post but oohhh, an art collab, what a nice idea!

someone else on twitter also had the idea that we could do screenshot redraws of our favourite scenes and imo that's also a great idea because those are pretty easy to do in general! I'll look it up tomorrow to share here on tumblr as well.

so maybe we could even do something like an art telephone game one day, or just post all our screenshot redraws in the same hour. Any of those two options could work tbh ^^

I think something that everyone could take part in, like a big screenshot redraw collab would honestly be a nice way to show the crew too that their show means something to fans :] To include more than just fanartists though, it could also just be something to hashtag under for a whole day! I feel like something simple like #SamuraiRabbitDay or #UsagiChroniclesDay could work, it would just need to be something easy to write and say hehe ^^ I think it would be fun to use a tag mostly bc that gets the attention of other fans and maybe the crew will see it too. seems like something cheerful!
