Karamel Hiatus Project fanmix #2 Alternate Universe It takes all of 30 seconds for Kara Zor-El, the daughter of an elected official from Krypton, and Prince Mon-El of Daxam to begin arguing when they meet at an intergalactic conference they've been sent to to represent their families. But one thing they agree upon - they're tired of losing friends and relatives to the wars that have raged between their planets for longer than can be remembered. As heir to the throne, Mon-El will do anything in his power to stop the war - to prove to his parents that he can do something right, for once. Kara will do anything in her power to protect her young cousin Kal from being called into service when he comes of age. That one agreement leads them to a suggestion from a planetary diplomat being tossed across the table over a round of Aldebaran rum - What if the two governing houses became one? If any aggression against the other planet was seen as an aggression against their own people? First, they laugh - then, they think, maybe it's not such a joke. Love is out of the question - but if they can be seen to respect one another, trust one another, can't they lead their people to do the same? Their parents are horrified, even hostile - but it turns out that Kara and Mon-El also share stubbornness, and a belief that as young people who have been raised to set an example for their people, that the future is up to them. And Kara learns that Mon-El makes her laugh. Mon-El learns that Kara makes him think - makes him care. And they learn that their sacrifice may not be so much of a sacrifice after all .....

ok because i’ve been posting a bunch of headcanon recently, here’s one more.
rhea and lar gand had already returned to daxam to rebuild when they received mon-el’s distress signal. not only had they returned, they had been there a long while, and not only had they been there a while, they frequently took trips away from their planet to try and find their scattered people.
rhea brings up during her duel with kara that there was so much kryptonite on daxam now that it had infiltrated her bloodstream (probably similar to how the lead did when they released lead into the air). we see the lead happening quickly as far as breath, but i think it must’ve taken a little longer to still be so infused in her when she left daxam. the daxamites fleeing earth, for instance, likely only felt the effects of the lead while on earth and then that quickly dissipated as they left and returned to normal air, but the kryptonite in rhea’s blood lasted far longer, for however long it took for them to find earth and for her to get to the duel with kara (about a year, i’d guess?), long enough that she views it now as a constant (when as a scientist, she should or would know better).
not only that, but rhea and lar needed to be on daxam long enough to be able to catch mon-el’s distress call. yes, they could have potentially picked it up from their ships, but there’s another part to this - rhea had at least two different forms of kryptonite with her on the ship and two sai made out of green kryptonite. sure, there might be other metal workers on other planets, but as it is, it’s easier to assume those were made on daxam as well, which means there’s at least the beginnings of a rebuild. even more to the point, the transporter rhea has lena help build is similar in design to the one we saw on the slave planet, but we also saw how that one worked: you had to have two, one on either end, both set up to provide access. and the one she and lena built was bigger than the other transport, implying that rhea already had one built on the other end. it makes far more sense to assume that these daxamites are all coming from the same place instead of multiple different scattered places, and where better to come from than daxam? especially in the case that their heir sent a distress call from another planet, you would expect them to be on alert in case of a war.
i hazard that rhea and lar had been rebuilding daxam for five earth years at most, approximating that daxam took three decades to heal enough to be repopulated (but also that rhea and lar checked often - annually, maybe? - to see if it was better. and that may have been more rhea than lar, because i imagine she was actively looking for her son).
but this doesn’t address the other issue. rhea not only has kryptonite in various forms, but she knows its effects on kryptonians under a yellow sun. kryptonite, as far as i know, are just pieces of krypton after it was destroyed, so it’s safe to assume they would have no dangerous effect on krypton when they were under a red sun. which means that rhea either had to have personally encountered kryptonians in a solar system with a yellow sun or was in contact with someone else who had. (i do headcanon that there was a daxamite, at least one, on earth prior to mon-el because lillian already knew that daxamites were weak to lead without having to experiment on him, so I expect she knew that from a previous captive, but i don’t think that’s necessarily the case here.)
i think this goes back to the kryptonite in rhea’s blood. we could argue that this happens sooner, as a result of how long she lingered on daxam searching for mon-el while the world was destroyed around her, and that the annual visit, for however long that was, renewed and boosted its existence. i think it’s possible, even likely, that if rhea met a kryptonian while daxam was destroyed and mon-el had disappeared, that she would attack them. and i think that’s probably what happened with the kryptonian ambassador who was sent to warn them (and likely fled with them on their ship). i think they fought while orbiting a yellow sun and that the kryptonite took effect quicker than the sun’s rays did. I think once the ambassador was dead, rhea had her blood analyzed and found out that’s what it was (or maybe even the ambassador died right off the bat, since it’s possible their blood was also infused and that would have been poison to them).
i think, finding out the effects of this type of kryptonite under a yellow sun on a kryptonian, rhea, on her annual trips to daxam, found other types of kryptonite and, somehow, found a kryptonian she could...test the effects on. at least one, anyway.
because how else could she have known?

Supercorp Fic 1/4
Summary: Kara leaves for a mission and when she returns, she is not entirely herself - Kara Danvers and Kara Zor-El are gone. All that is left is Supergirl, last child of Krypton and now Rao’s successor.
Chapter Summary: The friends and family that Kara - that Supergirl - used to love struggle with the transcendence that has left her memories in ruins, all attempting to spark some recognition from her.

Eliza brought her back.
To Midvale.
"Why are we here?" Supergirl inquired, hovering a few feet over the roof of her home.
Her former home; a quaint house in the suburbs under the night sky and a blanket of stars.
It was quiet, so quiet that chirping crickets could be heard. There was no chatter, not much life, just a slight breeze that rustled the greenery from time to time.
The Kryptonian set the woman down with a soft thud.
"You grew up here," Eliza said, motherly love encased in her eyes and an expectant twitch at the tips of her lips, "When you came to Earth. You don't remember?"
Supergirl did, she recalled bits and pieces, but not enough to warrant a reply that gave the woman any semblance of hope.
It was not enough for her to feel anything, to recall fully a single memory.
"Why should I?" she asked instead.
There was a moment, shown in Eliza's eyes, that cracked a little - the optimism took a beating.
"'Cause I want my daughter back," the woman answered, slightly broken, a frown pulling the edges of her lips down.
She was strong, Supergirl knew that. She also knew that this woman raised two little girls after her husband, Jeremiah, was taken by a government organization and subsequently disappeared. Supergirl could still see it in Eliza's eyes, how much she missed him, still missed him because he was still gone.
But her little girls were not.
One of the little girls being Supergirl herself, a young Kryptonian that used to have no knowledge of how to control her powers on such a fragile, foreign planet.
Eliza was strong, always was for her daughters, and that was why her voice did not break open all the way.
But she did reach out to grasp Supergirl's hand gently, her skin soft, though wrinkled and slightly callous with age and her experience as a biochemical researcher.
Eliza intended though, to stretch her arm out to caress her daughter's cheeks, wanting to feel if it had the same texture as when she landed - smooth, supple, yet wet flesh from mourning Krypton; but Supergirl was too high, too out of reach.
"Come here," Eliza beckoned.
Supergirl obeyed, descending lower, closer.
But never did her feet touch the ground.
The proximity was enough though, for Eliza to stroke her girl's cheeks, to cup them in her hands.
And she remembered, with an aching heart, how small they were just around a decade ago, trembling with vulnerability.
Then Eliza's gaze finally traveled up to meet Supergirl's eyes, no longer a bright sapphire, but a bright white glow that was now in its place.
It was divine.
"Kara?" she called out.
There was no recognition, at least not an emotional one. It was detached, somewhat, from the rest of the world.
There was nothing.
Alex brought her to her apartment - Kara's apartment.
Supergirl recalled the location in fragments, she knew it was her abode with large windows in the highest complex to easily fly to and fro in the form of her alter ego - National City's savior.
The windows were open, to let the light in and the bustling noise of the city through - a cacophony of horns, shouts, screeching tires, and crying babies.
"Sister night!" Alex exclaimed, a little enthusiastic, a little uneasy. She was wearing an apron with pale yellow stripes, and it seemed to have been bombarded with numerous ingredients, some of them questionable in edibility.
Supergirl eyed the amount of food that laid across the dining table and floated over.
Ice cream, potstickers, chocolate pecan pie, cake, pizza...
"I do not need to eat, or drink, or rest."
Alex frowned, "Yeah," she sighed heavily and intertwined their fingers, "Yeah, I know that. I read the report. I guess I was just hoping...that there would be a change."
The woman looked to her sister, a being who was her sister, hoping that this event altered something between them.
It did not.
And the silence only made Supergirl tilt her head and blink her glowing eyes in vague curiosity.
Alex quickly pulled away and averted her gaze, perhaps afraid - terrified - of what she might find.
Of what she might not find.
"Movie?" she asked hastily, untying her apron and tossing it onto the kitchen counter before vaulting over the couch and swiping the remote from the coffee table.
She tried to be relaxed, she did, but the presence of Supergirl caused her the most discomfort.
"I can stay for a little longer," the Kryptonian replied, neutral.
It sounded so empty that it forced Alex's frown to deepen, creases lining her forehead.
"Which one?"
Supergirl flied over, "What do you suggest?"
Alex's tone grew frustrated, clipped, "Right. I guess you can't have an opinion or preference either."
"You are upset."
"Very astute observation," Alex snapped curtly.
"Why is it that you are upset?" Supergirl asked, and her voice held no personal concern - it was asked out of courtesy.
Alex scoffed, brought her eyes up to look at Supergirl, quiet, "I just want my sister back."
Her eyes, her face, her body all remained the same.
There was no emotion, no attachment that one should have felt for a sister, for family.
There was nothing.
Maggie took her to the alien bar afterwards, during the night, after her shift, and Supergirl quietly followed behind.
She continued to refuse to land, and the detective took note of that because, well, she was a detective; she could not help but notice things, regardless of how trivial the details.
Like the eyes, how they were vacant, void of any genuine, personal emotions.
Then there was an absence of feelings.
And it alarmed Maggie quite a bit, knowing that before all of this, the blonde had been angry, bitter, disappointed, upset - all the simultaneously happy and painful complexities of...living.
But none of that was there, nothing in between either.
Supergirl was a shell, a holy and divine icon. From Maggie's understanding, Alex confessed tearfully to her that Rao had chosen an heir.
Kara Danvers, lover of people, food, musicals, and Disney movies, had transcended.
She was Supergirl.
She was a god.
The first thing that greeted them past the entrance was J'onn and M'gann, who both smiled behind the bar.
Except both the Martians' grins were tight-lipped and wary.
J'onn though, he looked weary, was weary.
The Kryptonian he worked with for so long was now a surrogate daughter to him, and he her surrogate father.
Along with Alex of course.
The pain in his eyes was overwhelming, and he believed deep down that he was unable to help.
His and Kara's bond had only been strengthened within the D.E.O.; it was the only place they both shared.
But it was a facility, it had walls made of the sturdiest of metals, polished floors, lab rooms, and a medical bay full of injured and dying agents. And it had aliens imprisoned there.
It did not seem like a place that could really sort through Supergirl's memories with all the chaos there.
And J'onn did not know where else to take her.
His social interactions were awkward, he was a Martian so closed up from the genocide of his people.
Though M'gann was changing that. Slowly.
Before any of them could exchange proper greetings, an unsettling silence filled the entirety of the building.
It was eerie and Maggie, J'onn, and M'gann were ready for a fight, their stances hardening.
But there was no confrontation, no conflict.
One by one, it all dawned on the patrons, and one by one, each of them knelt.
Within a minute, all the alien customers were bowing to Rao's successor, floating reverently in the air.
And then Maggie realized that maybe it was not that Supergirl did not want to touch the ground, but that she could not.
And it filled her with dread.
James, Winn, and Mon-El awaited her within their den, their 'man cave' the latter two said.
The darkly lit and cramped room was a mess of stains, food, opened drinks, video games, useless antiques, trading cards, discs, wires, and papers strewn about.
It was easy to deduce that Winn owned the place.
"I suggest you clean your abode," Supergirl recommended.
Judging from the eyeroll that Winn and Mon-El gave her, they have both heard that countless times.
Though have never seen through to it.
"Trust me," James smiled, "They're not going to listen."
Winn set down his console controller and stepped across the dangerous terrain, waving a casual hand aside, "It's completely fine."
Then he slipped, fell forward.
A slender hand was pressed to his chest, pushed him as another hand grasped the back of his shirt and pulled him back upright.
"It is not safe," Supergirl said.
"I agree," James added, his gaze lingering on the woman in the air.
Winn chuckled, dusted himself off as he regained his footing, "Don't worry about it."
"You should be careful," Supergirl advised.
"I'm always careful," he bit back with a pout, placing his hands on his hips, "Unlike you, remember that time you..."
He went on a long rant, defending his clumsiness by disclosing Kara's, while Mon-El attempted to travel to them on a trek that could last millennia through a messy room like this, and James helped him regain his balance more than once.
Once Winn finished his story, he folded his arms and nodded his head in triumph.
Supergirl simply tilted her head, "I do not remember."
And then he faltered, shoulders sagging, back hunching, arms dangling to the ground.
"Right," he sighed at their predicament, "I, uh..."
"So, I hear you're a god now," Mon-El chimed in with a toothy grin, clearly forcing enthusiasm, albeit a little awkwardly, "I hear you're really making a difference out there. Like, nonstop. How's that going for you?"
Supergirl eyed him for several seconds.
"Well."
He also faltered at the over-simplified answer.
The Kryptonian continued to stare at the two boyish men.
"So," Winn started, "You're a god. Cool. Awesome."
Then her stare rested on James, who was relatively quiet throughout the gathering.
He cleared his throat, his deep voice caring, searching for something, for someone, "I guess you're the sun then? Since Rao's the..."
He trailed off, unsure of how to really deal with the stranger in front of him while Winn rubbed the back of his neck nervously, darting his eyes between the two.
Supergirl nodded, "Indeed. I am the personification of the sun, if that is how one desires to describe it."
Winn suddenly guffawed, and it startled Mon-El to the point he jumped a bit.
"Persunification!"
The Daxamite next to him burst into laughter as well.
James simply rolled his eyes, burying his face into his hands, but his heavy sigh held a certain amount of endearment.
After several seconds of the duo entertaining themselves at the hilarious quip, they trailed off into apprehensive chuckles when they saw that Supergirl did not look amused.
"What is so funny?" she inquired.
"It's a pun," Winn explained, "It's like a joke with multiple meanings I guess, 'cause the words used could have different definitions, but sound the same-"
"It's wordplay," James interrupted before he could go on a rambling tangent.
There was a quiet moment, and Winn felt his fragile ego bruise.
"It was funny," he hesitated, "Don't you get it? You said-"
"I understand," Supergirl interrupted, "I only fail to see how it is so comedic."
Winn's eyes bulged and then there were tears spilling out as he fell to his knees and grabbed one of the Kryptonian's legs, "I miss you so much, Kara!"
The sight was utterly pitiful. Almost comically so.
Supergirl looked down on him, then to Mon-El, who had a somber expression.
Then she glanced to James, and her gaze lingered for a fraction of a second more than necessary.
And he told himself that it did not mean anything.
Lucy came back. For her.
For Kara.
And she took her away to the other D.E.O. base, the rocky cavern with jagged walls.
She had heard, continued to hear, the great many deeds that Supergirl did for the people of Earth. Everything dropped; crime rates, suicide rates, poverty rates...
Everything was generally better. A lot better than before Supergirl transcended.
Because she wanted to make Earth a place of rapture.
She was exalted and worshipped now, by the majority, if not all, the inhabitants on Earth - alien and human alike.
Lucy knew Kryptonians were a race that upheld honor and had the greatest amount of respect from other aliens, all for different reasons: for the power they wielded in their military, for the intelligence they harbored in their science, for the influence that impacted others with their artistic talents...
So when Lucy saw her again, she was struck into a dumb sort of silence. She admired Kara, for her loyalty, strength, compassion, but the person hovering in front of her was not her.
"Do you remember me, Kara?" she asked, somewhat hopeful.
Supergirl tore her gaze away from the headquarters' terminals, "I do. I believe your name is Lucy Lane."
The brunette felt her lungs constrict with how unfamiliar the voice sounded, how it resonated with the fact that Supergirl did not know her and only knew of her.
It felt intimidating to stand in front of someone - maybe something - with so much unrelenting power.
Lucy scoffed, chuckled at herself, because the familiarity she sought in those scintillating eyes were not there.
She found nothing.
She was no longer a friend, but an acquaintance, perhaps not even that either.
And a part of her blamed herself for keeping away from Kara for so long due to her duties as major of the Army and as director of the D.E.O.
She thought she should have tried harder to maintain their bond, but business hindered it.
Or at least that was what she wanted to tell herself.
And her efforts now might be fruitless due to her absence.
"Is something the matter?"
Lucy's head snapped up at the voice, the concern almost hollow, as if Supergirl evenly spread her love to all in the vast universe until everyone was truly equal in her eyes.
Which was not a bad thing, it should not be a bad thing, but it sure did feel like it.
A part of Lucy knew that Kara - no, that Supergirl - would sacrifice her entire family if it were weighed against an entire population of a planet now. The worst part was maybe she would not even think twice about the decision. Nobody and nothing could sway her emotionally anymore.
Then another part of Lucy thought that the mere notion was factually impossible, she hoped that maybe everyone's efforts would eventually get through the celestial barrier that barred Kara.
Because Kara had taught her, unfailingly, that there was always hope. No matter what. And to never give up.
"It's nothing," Lucy answered.
Supergirl tilted her head at the lie, heard the heart in the human's chest skip a beat.
"You are lying to me."
It did not sound like an accusation at all, just an observation.
But Lucy's frame sulked a little when she corrected the sacred being.
"No. To myself."
Clark flew with her, to New Jersey, to his home.
It was a metropolitan city indeed, but Supergirl could not help but notice its mediocre size compared to National City back in California.
It was still noisy thankfully, of horns, chatter, and animals; the sounds were not the same though. Clark understood that. It was quieter. He enjoyed the quiet, having grown up in the endless cornfields of Kansas, and Metropolis was more compromising for his duties and love life.
The quiet always bothered Kara though.
However, not at first. He remembered the Danvers informing him that his cousin was experiencing an onslaught of heightened senses. The vision was easy to handle (though terrifying), but the strength and hearing, not so much.
Especially the hearing.
Clark knew that Kara thrived off of life, off of the hustle and bustle of cities and people. She confided in her sister once that if it got too quiet that it would be taken advantage of, Krypton would exploit it and come back to haunt her in her dreams - nightmares.
Alex in turn confessed to him that she had absolutely no idea what to do, and he regretfully responded with a similar answer.
Clark told Alex that she was the closest family Kara had, knowing his absence left a hole of abandonment.
A part of him knew that he purposely evaded his cousin whenever she sought comfort from her last blood relative from the House of El.
But he knew, still knew, that he could not help. He was born a Kryptonian, but raised a human; he never experienced Krypton, he did not know how his tongue should twist with the frustrating inflections of Kryptonese, he did not know how to celebrate their traditions, he did not know anything apart from learning the surface of his culture and heritage within the frozen Fortress of Solitude.
He did not know how to keep the remnants of Krypton from dying, fading with a pathetic whisper.
But Clark knew that no one could really comfort Kara, could actually protect her from the destruction she witnessed with her very own eyes, the memory now a nightmare for the majority of her childhood into her adolescence.
He could not fathom the loneliness she felt when she landed, or even the isolation she might have felt in the present.
She always mourned for Krypton alone and he could never quite understand the depth of her loss. He could never comprehend the pain that flashed in her eyes when he said flatly the name of Krypton's god.
She was too late, and there were countless times where she never acknowledged that it was not in her control. It still happened.
Sometimes Clark saw her, really looked at her, and he knew that she was genuinely the last child of Krypton.
"Kara..."
When he scanned her face, in his small apartment, on his dinner table with Lois by his side, he saw nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
And he knew Lois was equally startled.
Cat was, quite frankly, just as alarmed as the rest of Kara's family and friends when she showed up in her office.
Well, not really in her office because the glorious deity remained just outside of the door.
Cat swung out of her chair and stood, "You may enter...Kara."
She tested the name out upon her tongue, trying to record any flash of recognition, of emotion, but there was nothing; Supergirl continued to defy the laws of gravity, continued to never set foot on the ground.
She was not tethered, not quite bound to Earth. No trace of anything mundane.
Not quite.
Cat recognized that everyone who Kara cared about had a fragile string attached to her, to Supergirl, weighing her down, but not fully connecting her to Earth.
And the strings were so very breakable, one by one, each of them slowly detaching as time passed.
Alex and Cat herself were the only strings that remained.
And she could feel all of them weakening further, felt hers loosening, and she knew it was futile to try and repair it against the pull of someone so almighty, so godly.
Cat was aware that just because the other bonds have snapped before hers did not in any way mean that they were lesser in value.
Sometimes Supergirl went where the strings could not follow, and the gentle tugs finally clipped them off because none of them could heave at just the right time with the right amount of strength to guarantee some sort of...human reaction.
Cat could feel that it was only a matter of time before hers was yanked apart, wrenched away from her control.
And it did when Supergirl gave a small nod, and it felt like a goodbye disguised as a greeting.
She was too far away, too unearthly to set foot on such sodom land.
Cat felt her string draw, drag a little until it finally fell, and her expression was one of resignation, but still filled with a spark of hope.
There was only one left, and that was Alex, and she was a fighter.
Then Supergirl gazed out, towards the balcony - no - past it, to something else.
It was almost forlorn, a little bit longing, a little bit confused. She slowly brought a hand up to rest over her chest, over the insignia engraved into her suit.
Maybe it was someone else that she was looking out to.
Cat had an intuition that was arguably unparalleled by anyone else, and she prided herself in that, but she was baffled to realize only just now that there was someone else that could still save Kara too, another string with her older sister's.
Both of them were more flexible than the others, both of them knew where to follow, when and where to pull.
But Alex's string was tired, exhausted, from trying too long and too hard, becoming more worn out with every rejection from Supergirl.
It was also the only one that was still tugging.
And this other person's was still strong, perhaps because they have only been analyzing the plight from afar, never directly encountering Rao's child, never beckoning Kara to come back.
Maybe it gave up too early, right from the start; it never pulled and probably never will pull.
The person just watched as everything around Supergirl fell apart and Cat momentarily felt anger boil in the pit of her stomach. She thought the mysterious person a coward, that if Kara never came back, that it was on them for not trying like the rest.
And she thought that they were close, so close to getting her back judging from how small the proximity the ground was from Supergirl's feet as the distance gradually shut.
The anger flared again, at the coward, because if Kara was lost, then it was their fault.
Cat saw the decision being made by Supergirl, the resolve to leave and to finally answer the question that everyone had been asking.
"Why haven't you done anything?"
Alex's tone was agitated, distressed through the phone.
Lena shut her glistening eyes, took a measured breath, and leaned against her desk in the dim light of her office - so dim it barely contrasted the darkness of the night out the windows of her balcony.
Her hand came up to press against her forehead with trembling fingers, and her voice shook within a whisper.
"I don't know," her voice cracked, "What am I supposed to do?"

SUPERGIRL RANT TIME 5
Imagine, if instead of Mon, Kara found a teenager/kid inside the pod? A little girl/boy Kryptonian/Daxamite that she could have taught and cared for? I personally think that would have been more interesting to see than Kara falling for the man-child she was babysitting.
I can imagine the kid being more into the science stuff if they were Kryptonian and then meets Lena and they click would have been better than Man Boy’s entrance.
Or like Kara gaining an understanding of why Clark didn’t take her in, because she sees how hard it is. Or maybe even getting angry with Clark because she’s making it work when he didn’t even try, that way we get a touch of the darkness in Kara like in the episode where she couldn’t show her anger.
I really think that could have offered her a lot more growth because now her entire arc has been placed on her love life.
Sadly this season has been all about love.
I say sadly because everyone got a love life which freaking annoys me. They should have just focused on Maggie and Alex getting together or even maybe Winn’s love life. By the way, totally called the girlfriend being evil somehow.
This season everyone got a love interest, even James because his love is the Guardian.
To be honest, I’m 80% happy that Katie McGrath got promoted as a season regular because I’ll get to see Katie on television again. I’m 10% terrified that they’re going to butcher her character somehow and the other 10% is worried that they just did it to bait us Katie Mcgrath fans and they’ll only show her like half the time to keep us watching.
I mean, how many of us just watch it now because of Lena? Tune in to see her name on the screen and then flip the channel when we don’t see her on the guest spot? Or if you live in the Pacific time zone like I do, check IG at 6 for #lenaluthor to see if there’s new screen caps of her? She’s honestly the only reason I watch Supergirl.
I admit, the sequence and story progression regarding that the villains and the objective have gotten better from the first season. There’s flow in the action but character growth and development is all over the place for me this season.
Kara starts off wanting to find herself, wants to find her place in the world, define herself outside of a romantic partner but then not even halfway through the season, she falls for Mon-El who’s a mess of a character himself because his arc has been completely rushed.
Alex and Kara don’t even really feel like sisters anymore. And honestly, Alex pushing Kara to date kind of makes me think she did it so she can concentrate on Maggie and not feel guilty that Kara’s alone. And being with Mon is easier for Kara since he already knows the Supergirl thing and because she doesn’t have to worry about her powers but I don’t even know what Kara likes about Mon?
He’s really a good guy despite his chauvinistic and arrogant beliefs? That he’s trying to change from the irresponsible coward to a hero? Why? Because he loves her enough to try? Why does Mon even love Kara? It always seems like he wants her to change too?
And the fuck was that episode on Flash? Music Meister wants them to learn they should allow themselves to be saved by their romantic partners and forgive them?
Jesus, Kara’s ass gets saved by J’onn and Alex half the fucking time on the show!
And we know Kara can forgive. She’s done it for Mon at the end of every episode. I know she’s not perfect but come freaking on. He practically said he never would have admitted it to her if his parents didn’t show up. That just proves that he hasn’t really changed.
Maybe that’s the attraction to Mon? He’s the selfish entitled jackass that she wants to be sometimes but feels like she can’t afford to be.
If that’s the case, then that explains some things.
It doesn’t excuse things because I get being attracted to the thing you want to be, but if Kara wants to be selfish deep down, then she could do better! Be with someone who can stand up for their self, who can back up their actions. That’s my problem with Mon El. His whole character’s excuse for being shitty is that he supposedly doesn’t know better.
That’s his entire excuse. He just says sorry but he never really shows that he is. And besides, he seems to have such little faith in Kara that it makes me wonder why he even really likes her?
He was afraid that she wouldn’t treat him right because he’s a Daxamite? He didn’t want to confess because he was afraid to prove Kara right? Or that Kara wouldn’t speak to him again? That means he thinks she’s an unforgiving racist. Why does he freaking love her then?
I really don’t understand what their character’s attraction is to one another. Especially on Kara’s end!
But still, Kara forgiving Mon after this just really pissed me off because it’s restarting the cycle of abuse all over again! Fucking A Kara, he lied about who he is so you would let him get close to you. And he lied about not telling anyone that you were dating. Lied about letting the Jeremiah thing go. He lies about shit and Kara just forgives him all the fucking time because he’s a Daxamite? He doesn’t know better because of the planet he comes from so we must excuse his ways? I thought Kryptonian’s were supposed to be smart?
Besides, she could have forgiven him without wanting to get back together. Make him really earn your trust which Kara seems to give so easily to everyone but LENA!!!!!
Yes, Mon saved her but come on, that crossover was a freaking mess. Music Meister did it so they’d learn a lesson? Like I said, Kara knows how to forgive. I don’t like that they were manipulated/forced into the situation where she had to learn something that a 26 year old woman should already know and I don’t like that everyone was telling her to forgive Mon because yes, Jeremiah lied to Alex and Lyra lied to Winn, but it’s not even remotely the same because they did it to protect people they love.
Because clearly, Mon doesn’t have a problem protecting Kara from his ‘truths’ since he reminds her of her faults whenever they’re arguing.
Clearly, the only person Mon is interested in protecting is himself.
Also it’s crude and derogatory to Supergirl/Kara. She’s supposed to be the epitome of female empowerment and yet they backed her into a corner to force her to see their point.
It just makes her stupid and it reinforces the belief that people should be forgiven even if they continually repeat the same mistake over and over again and that there are no consequences to Mon El’s actions. I mean, he’ll have to fight his parents but that doesn’t matter since Kara will offer her support and vagina every step of the way.
Anyway, this whole season is just a jumbled mess. Kryptonian’s have been painted as prideful arrogant race while Daxamites are savages who treat women objectively? But then why does Mon El’s dad let his mom have so much say?
She’s the one that talked to Kara to convince her to return Mon to them. I don’t think such an important task would have been entrusted to the queen if women were nothing compared to the men. Nothing about Mon’s mom seems like she’s subservient so if Mon’s been exposed to powerful women, why would he react like he doesn’t know strong women exist? Besides, if Daxamites were truly savages wouldn’t they have just issued an ultimatum and demanded Mon’s return or else blown the planet to bits? I mean they have an people at their disposal. It seems like the King and Queen wouldn’t even bargain, just make demands. Clearly they aren’t strangers to politics.
It just feels like the Kryptonian/Daxamite disagreement’s being blown to epic proportions because if their beef really had been that severe, if they truly hated each other wouldn’t the Kryptonian’s just have eliminated them with the Medusa virus?
The writers seem like their pushing Kryptonian/Daxam hatred of one another too hard and it feels inauthentic.
Like they’re really making it seem like Mon and Kara’s races were so different and that they truly hated each other and that they should never ever be together because of that.
But from what’s gone on, it feels more like they disagree on their views seeing as Kryptonian’s value academics and intelligence while Daxamites value wealth and power. Mostly it feels like they don’t like each other but leave the other race well enough alone. If that’s the case, it doesn’t warrant such reactions. Even the way they talk like ‘Daxamites are this’ and ‘Kryptonites are that’ make it seem more like they ignore each other’s existence because they don’t think highly of the other. It doesn’t really feel like they hate each other enough to have been at war with one another to the death for years.
Am I the only one getting that?
It’s racist but if they truly hated each other I’m pretty sure Kryptonians/Daxamites would have ended the other race if it really bothered them to that degree.
And Mon’s the crowned prince. Like honestly, does he think his tyrannical parents will let their heir go after he disrespected them? And if he really wants to change things on Daxam, if he has become a selfless individual, wouldn’t the right course be to be with his people and try to change things there?
I know he loves Kara but did he even think about the mess his parents could bring to her, to Earth if he stayed?
If this is the type of writing that I have to look forward to then I’m afraid for Lena Luthor. They’re going to give her a love story not worth her character, one that’ll probably test her friendship with Kara somehow, before she’ll be painted as an evil character. Or they let her remain good but then they’ll ruin her character anyway, in the most unimaginative way. They’re going to weaken her character.
I bet they’re going to make her date Winn since they’re both super smart and both have family members that killed people and are in jail.
I like Winn, don’t get me wrong, but Lena with him would be predictable and boring. I mean, Winn hasn’t had suffered half the stigma that Lena has and yes, they’re both smart but then it’ll be like Maggie and Alex all over again because the characters would be too perfect together.
I’m preparing myself for the worst. I’m lowering my expectations so I won’t be disappointed. I’ll simply enjoy seeing Katie McGrath grace my screen, focus on the good instead of the bad.

i wrote MY OWN supergirl fan fiction, because i am impossible to please, and if you are interested in the fan fiction of a CASUAL FAN, you can read it if you want.
it is about kara and lena, and i wrote it without actually having seen the most recent episode.
“You are my kryptonite,” he tells her.
Everything in her revolts, and she recoils from him. “What? What do you mean? I drain the life out of you?" She scowls, folding her arms across her chest.
"No, no," he backtracks, eyes wide. "Not—I just mean... I've never felt this way, vulnerable like this."
She sighs and shakes her head. "I don't think you get it. Don't give me that power over you."
"You don't drain the life out of me, Kara, that's not—"
“No. I think you’d better figure out what ‘feeling this way’ really means. I’m not here to make you weak. I really thought you were getting it, Mon-El.” She takes another step back as he tries to advance on her. “I’ll see you later.”
He lets her guide him to the door, utterly confused but unresisting, and she closes it gently in his face. She slides to the floor, her head on her knees. She really thought she’d been getting through to him. But it was clear now that he didn’t understand anything she’d been trying to teach him.
She hears him say it again, “You are my kryptonite,” as though that’s something she’d ever want to hear, but suddenly it’s a different voice telling her, “You are my hero.”
And she remembers someone else who filled her room with flowers, with no expectations, no ulterior motives. There’s someone else she’s been championing—and that someone has actually risen to the occasion.
She remembers getting into work that day, the day after she almost lost her, and being taken aback by the wall of flowers. They were beautiful, and they must have cost a fortune, even for the Luthor heir. The only thing the note said was, “Thank you for believing in me.”
Before she even realizes it, Supergirl is on her way to the Luthor penthouse downtown. She remembers just in time Lena Luthor sent all those flowers to Kara, not Supergirl, and so she enters the lobby of the building like a normal person. As she stands in the elevator, she thinks about that. Kara Danvers is Lena Luthor’s hero, not Supergirl. Does Mon-El even think about Kara Danvers?
“What am I even doing here?” she asks herself, but the elevator doors have opened, and a very surprised, but very gracious Lena is inviting her inside.
“To what do I owe the pleasure of your late night company?” Lena asks, with a smile, and something in her stomach lurches. Is Lena flirting with her? Has she…always been flirting with her?
“I have had the weirdest day,” she blurts, and then she’s on a very comfortable sofa with a very attentive listener, and all the garbage she’s put up with from “Mike” comes spilling out.
“Goodness,” Lena remarks blandly, careful to share no opinion, when she finally clams up. “Why would he call you his kryptonite?”
“I know, right? Kryptonite would destroy him. It makes no sense!” she says, without thinking, and only barely catches the frown on Lena’s face. But she can’t stop the complete look of horror that flashes on her face.
“I believe there’s something you’ve left out of the saga of Kara and Mike,” Lena says placidly, letting her founder.
She thinks about trying to play it like just Mike is the alien, but then she meets Lena’s eyes and realizes she doesn’t want to lie to her. Even though she’s a Luthor. Even though Alex would surely kill her. But Alex isn’t here.
And so she opens her shirt to reveal the shield. Lena’s mouth hangs open for just a moment, but she recovers quickly. “Well. For a minute there, I almost thought you’d picked up on all of my flirting, Kara Danvers,” she says wryly.
Kara’s face burns hot as she quickly buttons her shirt back up. “Well. I… Lena…”
“Your secret is safe with me, truly,” Lena says gently, all traces of playfulness gone. “Thank you for trusting me.”
“I do trust you. Even though no one wants me to. You’re more than your name.”
Lena lets her eyes flutter shut and takes a deep breath. “Thank you.”
“He filled my apartment with flowers,” Kara says, standing up. “They weren’t anything like yours.”
“Yes, well. I do have exquisite taste,” Lena says lightly, and carefully tugs Kara back toward the couch. “Don’t drop a bomb on me and run, Supergirl.”
Kara sighs and sits and thinks about sinking into Lena’s arms, but she holds herself rigid. “You didn’t come here to tell me your secret.”
“No. No, that was not my plan. I don’t think I had one though. I just… Well. When he said I was his kryptonite, it just made me think of the way you said I was your hero, and I just…” She shrugs. “I’m having feelings, I guess? And I don’t know what they are, but I do know that…I like the way you make me feel a lot better than the way he makes me feel.”
“Well, I am glad you’re here,” Lena tells her, and that sends warmth spreading through her whole body.
When Lena leans closer, her body meets her halfway, and when Lena kisses her, her body knows exactly how to respond. Her head, however…
Once her conscious mind catches up to what's happening, Kara quickly but carefully extricates herself from an embrace she hadn’t even known she wanted. The way her whole body protests shocks her. Is this what she's wanted? She did just barge into Lena Luthor’s apartment and reveal her secret with basically no prompting.
“Do I have feelings for you?” she regrettably says out loud, and Lena has the grace not to laugh in her face.
But she does catch a slight flash of hurt in those dark eyes, and the way that makes her feel pretty much clears away any doubts.
“Oh god, I am so sorry I said that out loud,” she rushes to say. “Of course I have feelings for you. I’m a mess, Lena. I’m sorry.”
Lena laughs, and the sound immediately lifts her spirits. “I must admit this is not how I imagined this playing out, but it is so very, very Kara Danvers.”
Kara blushes, hangs her head, laughs, and admits that Lena is not wrong. “You imagined this, did you?” she says, catching on, her eyes alight.
When Lena blushes, Kara feels a kind of triumph, but also a strange pang of tenderness. It’s not often that Lena’s defenses lower like that. “Shall I tell you some of the other things I’ve imagined?” Lena says, her voice suddenly huskier, and Kara’s eyes go wide.
“Well. You can maybe save some of them for our first date. But you may give me a preview now.” She actually winks, like the dork she is, and Lena just smiles and kisses her again.
“I think I’ll leave you in suspense,” she says, standing up.
Inwardly, Kara groans, but she makes herself smile. “Now that sounds like you,” she rejoins, and then they are both smiling at each other, bashful, and Kara leans down to kiss Lena once more. “I’ll call you, about that date,” she promises.
“You had better.”
Their first date goes very well, so well in fact, that it ends in Kara’s living room, with lots of kissing. Face flushed, encouraged by the way Kara is touching her, Lena begins to unbutton Kara’s shirt. She is charmed, and only a little surprised, to find the Supergirl shield instead of the possibly lacy bra she’d been imagining throughout dinner.
Kara blushes and pulls away, but Lena immediately pulls her back. “Do you always wear the Supergirl outfit? How does the cape fit under your clothes?” she asks, sliding her hands across Kara’s shoulders.
“Alien technology,” she says smartly, and Lena laughs. Kara gently headbutts her and lets Lena pull her into her arms. “I’m sorry about Supergirl. I have to have it whenever I leave the house. Also, I didn’t expect things to move quite so fast.”
“Am I rushing you?” Lena worries, but Kara quickly shakes her head.
“No, no. I’m just… You know, I don’t date…a lot. So I guess I wasn’t sure what to expect.” She sits up and wriggles out of her shirt. “I do actually have a very cute bra on under this getup,” she flirts, and Lena is leveled.
“I would love to see it,” she whispers, and before she can even blink, Kara is in kneeling in front of her, shirt open, Supergirl shield gone. And a very lacy red bra on full display. “Why, Miss Danvers. It appears you are trying to seduce me.”
“It appears to be working, Miss Luthor,” Kara responds, and she lets Lena pull her up onto the sofa.
There are more kisses, more touches, more tentative exploration of warm, impossibly smooth skin. There are little moans and breathy whispers and rushed fumbling with zippers and clasps. There are gasps when skin meets skin, and shy looks and requests for permission to go further, and there is nothing but assent.
And then there is Kara’s telephone. She’s up off the sofa in a flash, leaving Lena uncovered, disheveled, bereft, and as she watches Kara transform into Supergirl, she wonders just what she’s gotten herself into.
But then, before she rushes off to save the world, she stops and presses a kiss to Lena’s forehead. “Stay if you like. I’ll be back as fast as I can,” she whispers, and then she’s gone.
As much as she would like to be waiting for Kara when she returns, Lena can’t bear to stay in the apartment by herself, so she carefully puts herself back together and calls her driver.
At home, she gets ready for bed, trying to ignore the ache that leaving Kara has caused in her. She knows she won’t fall asleep anytime soon, so she makes herself comfortable in her living room, wrapping a blanket around herself as she picks up a book. A part of her is hoping that Supergirl will stop here after she’s finished her mission, but she won't let herself entertain that possibility.
Eventually, she does fall asleep, there on the sofa, book dangling out of her hand, and eventually Supergirl does land on her balcony and carefully let herself inside. It’s nearly dawn because the mission this time hadn’t been some two-bit thieves, but it’s over, and her time is her own again.
She carefully sets the book on the coffee table and smooths Lena’s hair. She changes the Supergirl outfit for yoga pants and an oversized Henley. And she quietly climbs onto the sofa and spoons Lena in her arms. “Kara?” she murmurs, half-asleep, and Kara kisses her hair.
“Shhh, go back to sleep,” she orders gently, and Lena does, a smile faint on her lips.
Only a minute or so later, Kara joins her.

How about a really lost Kara? Because all she can think of is Cat and what will be her reaction about what happened? I've been waiting for Kara to break down cos of all this.
Alright now, that is not exactly what you asked but I think I’m totally bitter about the whole CatCo disaster and Cat’s absence … It shows. Thanks for the prompt, lovely ♥
The looks she receives are a strange mixture of pity and cruelty and she’s being honest, she understands. She did betray CatCo. when she blogged that article and even the fact that it was the right call doesn’t make her feel better. It’s a walk of shame all the way to her office and her heart breaks when she sees the box full of her personal items, put atop the corner of the desk she had finally earned, after months of struggles and conflicts between her and her grumpy, snappy boss. There’s a picture atop of it, a family picture of herself with the Danvers, when she was young and when everything was still easier than today despite the discovering and taming of super powers. She asks, for good measure, even though she knows the answer. “You’re firing me?”She understands everything he’s saying and she can see, underneath the anger and bitterness he’s throwing at her, that he’s wounded. The disappointment is clear in his narrowed eyes and etched across his annoyed scowl but when he actually says he was rooting for her, it makes her very soul bleed. It resounds deeply in her and she can remember someone else who was waiting for her to rise to the occasion. She swallows thickly, fights the tears back and takes her box without another word. She knows Snapper is right to fire her but it doesn’t make it easier to accept. She’s fired from CatCo.After surviving as Cat’s personal assistant for more than two years, it’s Snapper Carr who ushers her out after barely a few months of being a reporter. Short lived promotion, she thinks as she steps into the elevator.Eve is already in there and she doesn’t say anything but Kara welcomes the pumpkin latte that’s being held in front of her. James’s assistant walks her out of the building and it’s only then that she says something.“For what it’s worth and it’s not much, you did the right thing. I know it doesn’t help right now but it was … it was the right call, Kara.” She says with a sad smile.Eve Tessmacher was very clever, underneath that strangely naive look and high-pitched voice. Kara chose her for that reason, it reminded her of when she first got here.Bittersweet memories.“Thanks Eve. Keep an eye on James and don’t let him neglect CatCo, okay? Goodbye, Eve.” She forces a smile and then turns around.—She wants to tell Alex what’s going on but her sister doesn’t talk to her outside of the DEO. They’re always fighting lately and they can’t seem to find their balance back. Kara doesn’t know why but somehow, she wants to blame Maggie. It’s unfair, it’s petty and it’s totally wrong but she feels lost and confused and sad. She’s always sad lately.Even when Mon-El barges in her apartment with that annoying smile he thinks is irresistible. He’s her boyfriend, or so he calls himself that, and she feels forced to make some efforts but it’s just pointless and she can already see the end of that relationship. She’s sad because she misses everyone, all those people who used to be there no matter what, the one she would die for.Winn is busy with his new girlfriend and she realizes she never even met the girl.Alex, giving her the cold shoulder.J’onn, probably feeling caught between her and Alex and trying to navigate between those sensitives feelings, is acting as normal as he can but she still feels awkward around him. Illegitimate, if she can put it that way.Lucy Lane returned to the Army and she’s somewhere in the world, fighting for what she believes in. Kara finds that she misses the younger Lane’s fresh mind and blunt honesty.James is putting some distance between them, even after they tried to call a truce. She did notice he wasn’t at CatCo as often as he should and Cat would be so mad at him if she knew.Cat.Cat Grant, gone diving into the unknown and leaving a thriving empire and a broken heart behind her. Cat never reached out to her, aside from a warm but distant email to congratulate her on her first byline. It was lined with some bittersweet comments about how convenient it was that Supergirl was an official source of Kara Danvers but nonetheless, it had been their only contact since Cat’s dreadful leave of absence.Kara feels incredibly sad and lonely.—Days go by, one by one. It turns into weeks and then months and Kara doesn’t hear from Cat.She’s working for an online newspaper now, a popular and pretty high-ranked one and she’s making more money than when she was working at CatCo but she doesn’t like it. She doesn’t like the loneliness of the internet and the lack of social interaction with coworkers and a boss.Alex and her are working through their issues. It’s slow but it’s working and they’re finding some balance again, finally. Maggie helped and Kara’s forever grateful to her for that. Her break-up with Mon-El had been messy and pretty bad but then he had been taken away by some strange people claiming he was the rightful heir of Daxam and that he belonged with his people. Some daxamites survivors escaped the doomed planet and colonized another one, making it Daxam 2.0 and Kara almost killed Mon-El when he told him that, before he left with his newfound people. She didn’t have anyone left of her original world aside from Superman but even he grew up on earth so truly, she was the last of her kind and when Mon-El dangled all those facts about his world on front of her, she’s lost her temper and used heat-vision on him. He’s gone now, she thinks, sipping at some strong, so very strong, alcohol she’s ordered. The alien bar is quiet and almost empty. Maggie is helping around as a bartender because apparently, the place is always short of people to fill the position. Alex is sat across the table and looking at her with something like understanding gleaming in her eyes.“Still missing your infamous Miss Grant, I see.” Kara doesn’t even try to hide it. She’s talked to Alex about the fact she was missing her old boss but it was mostly Maggie, who had opened her eyes about that big, big and hopeless crush she was still carrying around, even after all those months without seeing Cat.“Yeah. I know for a fact she’s aware that I’ve been fired, Eve apparently got an earful about how James didn’t do his job because he let this happen. I still don’t understand why she called about everyone but me but well. Cat Grant is not exactly know to be predictable.” She says and her tone is bitter.“Maybe … Maybe you should reach out to her?” It’s not the first time Alex suggests this but Kara shakes her head no. She’s lost, she’s sad, she’s mad but she’s also proud. She refuses to cave.“Then stop acting so miserable, Kara. Either you act on it or you let it go and you move on.” Alex says and her look is cutting, clear and straight to the point. Kara knows she’s tired of that attitude but she can’t really help it. She’s not happy, not the least bit.“Yeah. I’ll try.” She says, hoping that will get her sister off her back. It works but the look Alex gives her says it’s only for now. Maggie swings by and drops their orders on the table, kisses Alex on the mouth and walks away to serve other customers. She’s comfortable and smiling and Kara sees the smile that graces Alex’s lips. She’s a little jealous of that pure, unaltered happiness.—“Danvers. You can have your job back, if you want it.”Kara blinks but her face stays perfectly composed and she simply stares at Snapper. It’s been almost two years since she last saw the man and he’s the same old grumpy reporter he was back then, with only more wrinkles on his face and some more weight on his body. He looks annoyed but she knows it’s just a facade. She’s learned how to read him when she was working for him, not that it really helped her anyway.“No.” She simply says. She doesn’t know why she’s accepted the interview that came through email a few days ago but now that she’s sat across her former boss, she can see why it’s a waste of time. She’s working for CatCo.’s biggest competitor now and she’s rising fast, there are talks about her being the new Lois Lane of her generation. She likes the comparison but only because it’s probably making Cat cringes, somewhere in the world. For a second, Snapper looks actually surprised but then, the unthinkable happens. He smiles.A wide, genuine smile and he simply says “You’re good Danvers. You’ll go places, I have no doubt. You’ve already started anyway.”She shrugs and then asks “Someone told you to offer me my old job back, you don’t want me in your team and it shows. That’s okay because I actually like my new job. My boss trust me.”Snapper grins and then waves, she’s being dismissed. She stands up and goes to leave the office but then she turns around and asks “Who asked you to do that?”He gives her a look and she can practically read the name in his narrowed, annoyed eyes. It’s obvious and she knew the answer before asking, he knows it too.She doesn’t even dignify it and she goes away. This time, she leaves CatCo. with a spring in her steps and a lighter heart because she knows she won’t ever come back. And she’s fine with that.

@swimthroughthefires MILITARY KARA MILITARY KARA MILITARY KARA OMG OMGOMGDSFJL
Tumblr media
(I know this is red kryptonite!Kara, but LIKE...KARA. IN THE MILITARY.  WITH THE SMALL HOUSE CREST ON HER RIGHT SHOULDER.  HNNGNGNGNNG MY KINK)
I have NO IDEA how this jams with our conception of Krypton as a very Jane Austen-type society with strict modesty and maybe gender norms, but OMG.  OF COURSE KARA IS THE ELDEST HEIR APPARENT TO THE HOUSE OF EL.  The one with the super sweet military connections in her parentage, the one GROOMED to be a leader, the one who is expected someday to sit in the highest councils of politics and strategy while Kal follows the scientific tradition of his own parents...YES.
If Kara is in the military, then Kara is shadowing Astra and/or her mother into meetings with Earth diplomats from the very first.  Or at least, Kara is expected to keep up with developments.  After all, this is going to be her job someday.  Talking to Ambassador Lena Luthor is something that happens ALL THE TIME ANYWAY, and the media go EVEN MORE NUTS FOR IT because it’s so great, isn’t it!  One of their princesses is friends with our ambassador!  Kal and Lois’s marriage paid off!  PUSH THEM TOGETHER!
Krypton is more suspicious of Lena, however.  One of Kara’s superior officers is there to receive Lena when she gets off the transport for her first visit to Krypton.  Unknown to Kara, they arranged for her to arrive late.  Lena is told to wait by the side of the ring until Sub-Commander Kara Zor-El has finished sparring.  It’s quite obviously an intimidation tactic, and it works.  Kara has been in training as a warrior since she was a very small child, and she is terrifying in action.  Krypton has no yellow sun, so it’s all hand-to-hand; Kara against two, maybe three assailants who look bigger and stronger than her by far.  As she’s wiping the floor with them, the assistant turns to look at Lena with this little smirk.  Look at our children.  Look at their proficiency.  Imagine how easily they could destroy you, with god-like strength and the power of fire and flight.  Remember your place.
And Kara catches on pretty quickly to what her people just did as she jogs off the floor.  Lena is stiffer than she was at the reception.  But...how DID she want the ambassador to be?  Does she want to intimidate the Terran ambassador into behaving and avoiding espionage?  Does she want to gain Lena’s confidence?  And why does Ambassador Luthor’s shade of lipstick mattter so much to her? Ambassador Luthor is...not like that.  Surely.
I love LOVE LOVE BOTH OF YOUR TWO CAKES -  gal-palling Supercorp while at the same time having military!Kara and ambassador!Lena gently socializing Kara to intimage touch.  BECAUSE IT GOT ME THINKING!!!!  WHAT?  ABOUT?  KRYPTONIAN? SECRET?  LESBIAN CODE????? Kara likes boys.  She does.  She does.  She had polite, socially acceptable and politically advantageous flirtations with male heirs of other houses, maybe even a little scandalous necking in semi-dark hallways of Kryptonian mansions (is this where we get rid of Mon-El?  Why not).  But Kara ALSO KNOWS she likes girls.  Wants girls.  Very much.  And what recourse is there for that, in her life as a rising star in Krypton’s highest military echelons, the heir to her mother’s name and the pride of her House?
Maybe Kara’s had other lovers.  Secret, discreet  affairs, always short and always began and ended in silence.  Maybe she learned to seek out other girls like her through some kind of quiet mutual understanding.  Meet me at this bar. Hold my eyes.  Thread your hand through mine just so.  We’re both women, so what’s scandalous about it?
Maybe Kara’s most intimate characterizations of romantic attraction are these careful little touches, always loaded with meaning.  Always from certain people.  Always leading to certain places.
So when Ambassador Luthor slips her arm through Kara’s the very first time they walk down a long hallway together, you can imagine her surprise.
Darn. you.  DARN YOU.  KARA THINKING LENA IS SEDUCING HER, AND HAVING AGONIES OVER WHETHER LENA REALLY LIKES HER, OR WHETHER LENA IS JUST TRYING TO BEWITCH HER FOR HER MILITARY CONNECTIONS, LIKE SO MANY OTHERS HAVE TRIED.
Lena slowly falling for Kara’s golden smile and absolute joy in flight, her pure heart and her passion for justice...and having NO IDEA that she is essentially waving a “LET’S BANG IN A DARK ALLEY” FLAG IN KARA’S FACE.
CLOIS ARRANGED MARRIAGE AU WHERE KARA IS BETROTHED TO LENA LUTHOR???
the post
OMG YES THO.  YES. Y.E.S.  YESSSSSSS
Tumblr media
@bearholdingashark, @swimthroughthefires, @roadhymns
So Lois and Kal-El are in their arranged marriage for the good of Earth/Krypton relations, right?  And they are the First, the Star Couple.  They bear the brunt of the media attention on both planets, they break the ice to each other’s worlds, etc.
And then there’s Kara and Lena Luthor.

SUPERGIRL RANT TIME 8
A lot of Karamel shippers disagree and hate it when the word abusive is used to describe KaraMel relationship.
Here are the definitions of the word abuse.
Oxford definitions for the word abuse is to A) Treat with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly. B) Use or treat in such a way as to cause damage or harm. C) Speak to (someone) in an insulting and offensive way. D) Insulting and offensive language.
Merriam-Webster defines abuse as A) to attack in words. B) to use or treat so as to injure or damage. C) language that condemns or vilifies usually unjustly, intemperately, and angrily. D) to use or treat so as to injure or damage.
Mon’s abuse isn’t physical but verbal and emotional.
He constantly ignores her requests/teachings and let us not forget times he points out that she’s from Krypton, a snob, a holier than though type who craves attention from the humans and that’s why she saves them. Yes, he says those things teasingly sometimes but also he insults her when he’s angry and that shouldn’t excuse his behavior though because he repeatedly does these things. He’s been angry with/at her like 3-4 times already, reverting always to the age old standard of being infantile and barraging her with insults.
If he isn’t degrading her, then he is disregarding her.
It falls in the scope of fucked up things Mon El’s character does. When Kara was talking to her Alura hologram, she told him it’s private and instead of leaving, he stays. She told him to go call Alex, he stays. She told him to let her handle Myx, he meddles. She told him to go home with his parents, he stays.
That’s why there are those of us who believe that their relationship is unhealthy and completely infantile.
For those that are saying he didn’t think he was going to get back with Kara and saved her anyway, you are the ones that are being delusional. Everything Mon El has done is because he wants to be close to Kara. He probably didn’t think it’d happen right away but he knew it would earn him brownie points. He’s just lying to himself and everyone else about his reasons. Besides, didn’t he disregard the fact that they broke up in the beginning of the episode? That means he clearly thought there was still a chance they’d get back together. This is why I don’t respect his character.
Could also argue that he went willingly to Daxam either because he didn’t want to be the reason Kara died or because he knew Earth wouldn’t have meaning if Kara was dead. The second one could be romantic I suppose but it’s still selfish because none of these options is about Kara.
Kara living is just a byproduct. It’s still about Mon, his ego, and his feelings.
He knows his parents won’t kill him so there’s no real consequence to his actions except for being brought back to Daxam and being forced to stay away from Kara.
I guess we should at least be thankful he doesn’t have the “If I can’t have you then no one can.” mentality…
I’m not surprised she broke him out, just incredibly disappointed because she’s putting the entire planet at risk because of her love life. I am surprised, however, that Mon’s father was willing to just let him go. I know that’s supposed to signify that he loves his son and that he’s a good man deep down, but then what’s the point in continuing to rule? Why not just secede from the monarchy right then and there, just collect his money and go live a quiet and happy life somewhere else?
Because if the reason why he loves the monarchy is because he likes ordering people around, then why would he let his son go? If I were a tyrant I’d be freaking pissed that my heir won’t do as they’re told. Unless he does believe monarchy is what’s good for the people of Daxam. If that’s the case Mon should support his father and help.
Also, after seeing Mon's dad's act of love shouldn't the right course for Kara to ask him stay with his parents? So that he can build a better relationship with them? I mean come on, she freaking told Lena to talk to her megalomaniac mother, Lex Luthor the person who actively sought to end her cousin's life but Mon gets a pass from family bonding because she's in love with him? Kara's always been so big about family and forgiveness but when it comes to Kara's love life, those things must remain separate? Besides, wouldn't she want him to try and better Daxam? It seems like something the old Kara would do, ask Mon to go for his dad and the rest of Daxam and one would think her beef with the Luthor's would outweigh the impersonal grudges she's been holding onto against Daxam. It makes her seem petty and ignorant to hold onto her racist beliefs against Daxamites when they hadn't done anything to her before her relationship with Mon El...
I don’t know, maybe it’s not coming off as romantic because I don’t like Mon’s character. I think it doesn’t make sense but I probably am being biased because I don’t think Mon deserves to be the cause for Kara’s selfishness.
Also, a lot of people talk about how Mon El’s changed because of Kara and how Kara is good for his character but can someone tell me the positive influence that he’s had on Kara? Because Kara wasn’t really that uptight and rigid about anything. She wasn’t stern, knew how to have a modicum of fun, but was always careful not to expose her powers.
Besides, I cannot be the only one who noticed the importance they give his character. The writers put more focus on him than any other character, another desperate attempt for people to fan/worship the ground he walks on.
Like damn, the show is called Supergirl and she already has to share screen time with Martian Manhunter and Flash!
I swear though…
There was someone who was saying that CW would be sued by DC if they made Supergirl gay? I was so tempted to point out the fact that a majority of the known women in DC comics are bisexual now and also White Canary’s backstory has been drastically changed from her comic book counterpart. I don’t even think she’s bisexual in the comics but someone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong! Also, that’s the point of a multiverse! Different iterations of different characters in different worlds…. Point is, DC might say yes if they asked. Of course I didn’t reply back to them because I don’t want to escalate the shipper war, hence why I never tag Mon El or Karamel in anything….
Some of the comments about Supercorp just rub me the wrong way and it takes a lot of me to be the bigger person and ignore them.
And no, I don’t go searching for them. It’s just that Karamel shippers tag Lena too so they show up when I search and when I scroll down sometimes my eyes just glance at the comments. It’s 80% non intentional but then when I do see a really bad comment, I actually click on it to read the whole thing. Sometimes I do it to see if someone’s raised a counterargument but then I realize no one has and it makes me annoyed.
That’s another reason why I started these rants, because I’m trying not to engage because there are some people who are so narrow-minded and revert to insults when you don’t agree with them.
Wow, that’s probably why they ship Mon-El so much.
Also, hate that when they say we should stop shipping Supercorp because it’ll never happen. Their argument is either, ‘At least our ship is canon’ or ‘Supercorp will never be canon’. Like come on, half of the fandoms wouldn’t exist if people did that! Besides, we ship characters because we love them and think they’d be a good match. It’d be nice if they end up together but all in all we ship them because we feel like they’re right for each other.
But you know it wouldn’t hurt if they show Kara and Lena in a different universe, dating, so very gay together, and for one another.
