The problem with the Vld fandom is that they’ll call out the creators and voice actors in a heart beat for queer baiting but don’t even take the time to consider the implications of Keith and Allura being an item in every adaptation of Voltron EXCEPT this version, the only version with Allura being black. Representation in media comes in more then one way and yeah, as a queer woman I would love more obvious LGBT rep. But I also think showing a beautiful black princess in a relationship where she is loved and respected by an attractive man such as Keith, is breaking a lot more barriers then the fandom would like to consider since it’s a f/m relationship specifically with Keith.
#i dont know why its so hard for people to grasp the concept of race rep in media#like you may be thinking about your ships and trust i do love kallura#but even if i didnt you gotta think about the kids#specifically those little black girls who never see portayals of women with their skin colour in such a positive and beautiful light#maybe im off on this since suprise im white and the world doent like to address how race is represented in media#the people who see the injustice allura has faced at the hands of the creators who take in the importance of her race#have all been black/dark skinned to my knowledge#which is not okay when you consider everyone from LGBT to straight is rushin to defend non existent mlm relationships#while those lovely ladies are trying tooth and nail to explain alluras treament and its impact#anyways#vld#fandom critical#trish.txt
