as my frankly slightly embarrassing level of hyperfixation on survivor continues, I find myself trying to combine my two current interests in new and exciting ways. having fun imagining what the various hermitcraft guys would be like in survivor. some thoughts:
doc would ABSOLUTELY be one of the “villains” of the early season, strong and good at survival but terrible social gameplay. he would think he has fantastic strategic gameplay and his attempts to strong-arm camp to do what he wants are for the benefit of his tribe. his TRIBE would decide after about three days that they want him dead. not the first boot because he’s too good at challenges to go first but the first moment he fucks up at all he’s Gone. does not make it to the merge. is confused and frustrated by this the entire time.
scar, by contrast, is one of those players you watch and whisper to yourself “he can’t keep getting away with this”. he’s in like three mutually-exclusive alliances, but he’s so likable and charismatic you can kind of forget that his whole thing is lying to everyone all the time. every tribal council he’s in SOMEONE proposes him as the weak link in challenges and every time he’s managed to convince the tribe there’s some other, better boot. there’s probably at least one player (maybe grian) who knows he’s lying to everyone, is harboring a grudge, and has no idea why everyone keeps on going along with this man’s schemes. definitely makes it to the merge but from there it’s a toss-up if he makes it to FTC or if his dalliances come back to bite him. if he makes it to FTC though he has higher odds of losing in jury to everyone who he betrayed than he does managing to pull off a win, especially if his FTC is with people who can put challenge wins or loyalty in their speeches to the jury.
cleo strikes me as a player who ends up with an early alliance that she is doggedly loyal to until the end. probably fun to watch because her confessionals are sarcastic and she’s unafraid to insult her fellow contestants, but her loyalty to her day one crew makes her storyline come across as heroic. probably one of the better challenge players and would help carry her tribe, though she probably wouldn’t “lead” it. I can see her being the final surviving member of her alliance either in her tribe or post-merge, but I can’t see her wheeling and dealing into a new alliance if hers doesn’t end up as the majority alliance; instead, she does everything she can to save her allies, and then she goes out. a season she’d win is one where she’s in the majority alliance, seen as a lesser threat when she gets to the merge by the other players, and manages to go to FTC having made no one mad and with at least a few good plays under her belt. otherwise I see her as a late boot, but going out with her allies.
grian would make people MAD, but not in a “get rid of him immediately” way like doc. a bit of an agent of chaos, but if anything would set off grian’s bossy project manager instincts, survivor would. ends up kind of the “leader” of his tribe, both for good—he’s hard to boot early—and for ill—he pisses people off and he’s a very visible threat. I think he’d be good at finding idols and is good enough at keeping himself around. his survival I think depends on the willingness of other alliances to believe him when he flips his vote to save his skin and how good he is at keeping immunity; i think there’s not a world where he can manage his threat level well enough not to be targeted, but I think there’s a one where he manages to keep himself around despite that. if he makes it to FTC he either wins by being able to honestly say he had the best game or loses because the jury’s bitter against him, no in-between.
iskall would be one of the capital-c Characters of a season I think, whether he goes early or late. he’s friendly, decent at challenges, and, most importantly to the producers, just weird as hell enough to make good tv. probably gets more screen time than his gameplay deserves because he’s pegged as a potential fan-favorite. another player who makes a few close early alliances and sticks to them, but less doggedly loyal than cleo and more likely to seriously consider flipping. he DOESN’T, but he thinks about it. I don’t see him as a post-merge player honestly, I don’t think his strategic play is great, but I do see him as someone who gets to come back for another season to try again.
joe is already a capital-c Character. I think he’d be someone who is way too stressed out by survivor gameplay to play well, attaches himself to an alliance and then is Terrified for the rest of the game of messing up. however he’s ALSO fun as a guy and probably just Says Shit during tribal councils. that saying shit either gets him further than his gameplay would deserve or gets him booted SUPER early. he does not regret getting booted early; he wouldn’t quit but he would decide that it’s better for his heart to not be on the island. I think he’d be a surprise sleeper at challenges; not so much physically strong as someone who is VERY good at all the mental ones.
and these are just the ones I have thought of off the top of my head if anyone else has opinions. please share. this is fun.
#hermitcraft#also if you want to make a season of survivor. mcytblrsurvivor production apps end today.#but this post is mostly brought to you by me laughing about doc and scar as survivor contestants tbh

i’ve been thinking about this for some time now, but after watching mumbo’s new episode i just can’t hold this thought in anymore. so. hear me out.
what if ren doesn’t feel any guilt about what he did as a king of the hermitcraft?
[DISCLAIMER: 1) in this essay i talk about rendog’s character/minecraft persona, NOT ABOUT CONTENT CREATOR;
2) i’m not trying to make ren look evil or to make anyone think he has any ill intentions towards other hermits. i just found the thought about ren not feeling guilty interesting and decided to dwell on it for a little bit just for fun.]
back to the topic.
yeah, we can all agree, that it seems kinda out of character, at the first sight. after all, ren is a kind soul, always ready to help his friends out and all that jazz. but i think there’s much more to it.
firstly, let’s go back to rentheking dethronement. episode 20 of ren’s season 9. when hermits find out their diamonds are nowhere to be found, ren just... changes the subject. he doesn’t try to explain everything or fix it, no. he just goes on about how he will banish himself to the cage of shame, and then quickly leaves the scene.
later on, he indeed spends some time in said cage and seems to regret his actions.
hermits forgive him pretty quickly tho. and there probably wouldn’t be a need to doubt ren’s sincerity, unless...
let’s move forward to hermitcraft/empires crossover. episode 21. after going through the rift, ren is awake in the grave, where’s “the kings of old” are supposed to lie. upon hearing about that from pixl, ren says: “i’m not a king anymore, they took it away from me”.
even tho ren didn’t confront pixl directly, it seems pretty obvious that ren is upset and salty about the fact that he was dug out of the grave by pixl. he expresses his annoyance about it many times to viewers and other emperors. he even sells his giblets to emperors just to piss pixl off, because ren knows he would want to collect them all.
“thou he is a gentleman and a scholar, i think doctor pixlriffs needs to pay an annoying price for exhuming us a few weeks back. don’t you guys agree? i mean, seriously, it was so peaceful and quiet in that tomb before he rudely awakened us from the dead”, - rendog in ep 23
“he [pixlriffs] awakaned me from a deathly slumber; i was fast-asleep in a tomb, having a lovely time in the afterlife, he ripped me asunder from my slumber” - ren to shubble in ep 24
why are you upset about being dug out of the king’s grave, ren? is it because when you lie in the grave that is supposed to be the last resting place for the kings of old, at least you’re still considered to be a monarch? do you miss your kingship that much that you would prefer to be a dead king rather than alive peasant?
well, you can say, this proves nothing. yeah, he might be missing his time as a king, what’s about that?
let’s talk about ren’s reaction to other hermits bringing up his past deeds.
when keralis brings up missing diamonds in ep 26 and blames king, ren immediatly denies his responsibility. when keralis presses, he is quick to accept his guilt and turn the whole conversation into a joke. what could cause such reaction? one could say, that maybe he feels so much shame, that it’s hard for him to even listen about what he’s done, but what if he just can’t accept his defeat? what if he thinks he’s in the right?
let’s hear out what ren has to say about his kingship.
“i was just telling sausage, pixl, that a great and wonderous king used to live here, before he was dishonorably removed”, - ren to sausage and pixl in mythicalsausage’s empires s2ep33
and, finally, the dialogue between mumbo and ren in mumbo’s ep 7:
mumbo: i mean, are you happy with what you did as king? it sounds like... you weren’t the best king
ren: i was a great king to start with, i sorted out hermitcraft economy, and then, mumbo, they partied in my private area and that just changed everything.
all things considered, i don’t believe ren feels any kind of remorse about his time as a king. he calls his king self a great king. he blames hermits for his downfall and spiral of madness. he thinks his dethronement was unfair.
he misses his kingship.
...or maybe he’s just being dramatic and i hyperfixate and think too much
#hermitcraft#hermitcraft season 9#hermitcraft spoilers#rendog#renthedog#rentheking#uhhh do i tag others...#you know what#might as well#hc x empires#pixlriffs#mythicalsausage#shubble#keralis#mumbo jumbo#so. remember i once said i will never be over ren's king arc?#i'm still not over it#i literally dropped everything i was doing to write this#i hadn't even finished mumbo's ep because i got too excited

I like to believe that Pixandria has a Base 12 number system.
For those who don't know, a Base 12 number system means that you have twelve numbers before the numbers become two digits long.
I got the idea because of Pixl' s candle monument. Because after twelve candles he puts a lantern.
So maybe, the citizens of Pixandria have a Base 12 number system. Before they started to become more exposed to common (which has a regular Base 10 number system) they used it exclusively, both for their official trading and their personal matters but now it's mostly used for tradition/religion related stuff.
Like mourning candles...

Honey always held a certain importance for Pixandria.
It‘s non perishable. It can be stored for as long as need be, meaning that when the droughts ruined this seasons crop, or when sand storms interfered with any plans to go fishing, they at least had something to keep them from starving. A little sweetness to help in their ruin.
If your live wasn‘t currently intercepted by natural disaster, having honey meant that you could bake honey cakes. Soft, dense, sweet cakes that filled you up enough to go on with your day. Everyone has their own „special“ recipes. Some add Poppy Seeds, others the sweet flesh of a cactus fruit, but the base recipe barely changes from household to household. It‘s the most eaten treat they have. It‘s their national dish and the Pixandrians hold pride in it. Because it shows how they have made something out of nothing, how they have made the uninhabitable dessert their home and the sickenly sweet honey and boring bread into an amazing sweet.
Of course, the honey itself made a great sweet if eaten with fruit or cooked down to candy. These sweets had none of the balance of their honey cakes, but they were sweet and both young and old enjoyed it.
Honey was synonymous with safety, with community and pride and the citizens of Pixandria cherished it.

Also reminder for the first time watchers: Take the trigger warnings for the inbetween cut scenes (if there are some) serious. It's not a joke.
Look after yourself. It's okay to stop watching, you will be able to find multiple recaps of the events on Twitter.

Soon, Tommy will write a cover of „Jubilee line“ in which he just describes all the illnesses he has gotten while living in Brighton. But instead of sad, its going to be hyper-pop.

accepting i like blogging a typing a lot so, perhaps ill loosely 'live blog' my thoughts on various mcyt things im trying to watch. im basically just jumping on a lot of random guys i have never seen before bc i dont really know what i like at this point lol
hermitcraft s9 & s8 - after watching the Life series i thought ya know, ill watch the new HC to see whats up. etho wasnt playing s9 yet so i watched bdubs s9 and kinda liked it (tho i find myself to be less into his style of commentating now). i decided to try watching Grian s9 as well since i didnt mind what i saw of him either. his buildings are cool and s9 being new, its made me realize they hadnt really had a chance to do all the... rping stuff ive seen implied about season 8 (but again idk how much is exaggerated by fandom there so).
but having caught up on s9 i wanted to watch, i decided to go backwards. im kinda jumping around perspectives aaand it made me realize. while i really dont care about the rping they apparently often fall into during the newer seasons... i loooove the beginning. like, the start of s9 throwing everyone in blind, starting from scratch, scrambling to figure out what to do. thats fun. idk, i just loved the energy of the start of s9! and s8 too. and i think thats also where i love the proxy mod, i like the proxy when its there but not like... always constant, and having it for the first episode/beginning is a nice reminder of everyone's energy and vibes. like youre meeting everyone for the first time again. and i think the reset of a server and needing to start over is the most pure form of fun all of them have with each other.
so while i may keep up w s9 for a bit i feel i may fall off it unless etho continues and is consistent... and i may just slowly work my way backwards until i hit a season that isnt as full of rp as these more recent ones. s8 is also one i bet ill fall out of too tbh but i will keep jumping around episodes too.
hermitcraft s6 - since i didnt mind grian all too much, i wanted to see what he was like when he first joined. also because, etho and bdubs have been around SO much longer, i felt intimidated trying to start from their beginnings... and with s6 being grian's first, i felt maybe itd be less abt the rp stuff because hes newer and all. im about 20 eps in and i like it. theres a little bit of that 'i dont know everyone super well' awkwardness to some extent lol but i find him amusing at times. i wouldnt say grian is a fave of mine, but surprisingly i dont mind him even if he has more energy than who i typically prefer lol. idk how much i will keep up with his series though but its been good seeing what hes like.
Additionally with his interactions with others- i have certainly enjoyed scar and impulse but i dont think i have the energy to watch them fully. in any other case i thought id find scar 'annoying' with his um. well, constant dying and lack of awareness. but hes got such a good personality, and is legitimately funny alongside it and others. seeing him in small doses with grian is nice and i like him quite a bit tbh!
other things - while i watched the Life series i enjoyed some others' povs a bit. i like scott and joel, and wanted to see if i would enjoy their other stuff. i do like scott, but i have yet to watch a series of his i was super into... admittedly the first thing i jumped into with both of them was After Life, and while i think the mods are neat, i just couldnt stay hooked. i already kinda said why in the tags of my last post so i wont really repeat. i know they have a few other series but Empires didnt intrigue me either so! idk. may just have to be the Life series for these two.
i want to give some others a try, so if anyone Old School out there kinda leans on 'less rp more casual fun' and has some people theyd reccomend watching... lemme know!

hi grabs you and shakes you around I have heard abt hermitcraft from SO many people but I still have ZERO idea what it is. mind infodumping
HI HELLO @pecknxck SDLJJ I SAW THIS JUST NOW ALRIGHT OKAY SO-
hermitcraft is basically a minecraft smp- survival multiplayer server
you gather resources, build your base and farms, have a close-knit community with friends, and do all these usual things you do in a survival server
but because its like a full time job for most of them, they go Ham. They go Full Extra on everything. there’s no limit
oh a normal minecraft house? nonono no no sir we are going FULL MEGABASE, either all the way from BEDROCK to BUILD HEIGHT or BOTH-! ! ! few chunks for your base? no way man we are going ALL OUT!!!!! why not a whole 16 chunks to yourself and you’d still be next door neighbors with other hermits bc of how BIG their bases get
redstone farming? confusing as it is on small scales, but. you can imagine. the length. the science. the game-breaking mechanics these hermits will reach. some machines are massive and so complicated.
mining ? ?? ? ? mining ? ? ? usually reserved for early game when you start out. these dudes get full diamond by the end of episode one or two
“a quick mining session off camera,” they say. and you see the stacks of diamond like its nothing. you can only hope to see this many in creative mode. one hour will get you 3 stacks of diamonds. one episode can get you 2000 diamonds. what the hell. is that allowed? is th
SO basically it’s lets plays! there’s maybe like 20 active hermits from like 2 or 3 different timezones. All these resources they’re able to get in survival help them build a lot and get things done! they also do really fun storyline stuffs that are kind of like roleplay or in-universe lore. basically like ‘arcs’ ? when multiple hermits collab on something which can be anywhere from single episodes to like a good chunk of a season. these are usually minigames or competitions or fun rp
there’s a prank war that escalated into a full pvp battle, there’s some cinematic moments and acting (area 77 in season 6), there’s a lot of games- DEMISE IS A REALLY GOOD ONE...
demise was pretty dramatic in a good way!! very intense and a bit of a long arc
ill be honest a lot of it i watched from grian’s season 6 hermitcraft which kind of introduced me to the whole thing- and he was the new guy then, so it’s easy to follow without knowing much of the previous seasons (though i am watching some hermits old stuff every now and then)
its currently on season 7 and its really nice so far! the current arc is a mayoral race that happened because they have no idea what to do with a mountain of diamond blocks for the community shopping district.
i may have accidentally typed an essay h
THE SHORT VERSION: hermits are letsplayers that have fun dynamics and their minecraft avatars are kinda cool! they do rp/stories sometimes also their base+farms+literally everything is goals

continuing my semi-live blogging of what i have been watching
i was trying to jump around w series across the various tubers i want to watch but even tho theres no hard "continuity" with something like this, i cant help feel the need to go in order and stick to a path lol.
but i finished watching grian's s6 (yes like. all of it pretty much. i skipped a handful of eps so lets say i watch 85~ videos) and i had started etho's s7 at the same time but, wanted to watch at least one s6 playthrough before s7 and admittedly i dont thiiink i will watch anymore s6 hermitcraft, because i really want to watch etho and he didnt do s6 so, onto s7!
ive started up grian's s7 just cuz hes who i last watched but as i have gotten further into watching i know ill go and pick up etho's too since i really like all the various things that seem to be happening across the server this season. im not exactly into the play style of many others but i sure have curiosity over what some of them are doing, its just always tempting when i see the wild things theyre building so, who knows maybe ill pick up a few more people.
but its kinda nice watch a youtuber i havent watched before because its exposed me to other people i wouldnt typically watch. etho and bdubs have the people they hang out with most, and so do all the others-- which is good and bad bc if i just stick to one guy then i dont really see what else is happening during the season. like i actually quite enjoyed iskall and mumbo in s6 but thats only bc i saw them through grian's videos and i kinda realized like... i had no clue what anyone else was doing that season (likely not helped by grian being new and not branching out much, likely bc of that).
the thing that has impressed me most, and certainly been the most enjoyable to watch, is like... the minigames people make?? i did not expect that at all. coming from mindcrack i guess, that had basically none of that (unless they did after i stopped watching lol). it started picking up in the end of s6 of hermitcraft, where there were just. tons of games ppl were making. wild shit. and very fun to watch, and s7 kicked off with some games pretty swiftly. and insanely impressed by the scope of them (especially the stuff Tango makes- might have to watch his videos a bit) considering this is all survival minecraft. its pretty neat seeing how creative everyone is outside of the build part alone- the fact theyre making up these games.... within in a game to play.
