i know its the bias talking but oneshot is far better than undertale towards succeeding in the theme of "breaking the fourth wall" - while undertale does do that, it's not enough to really make it feel so impactful. the only thing that really made it cool was how flowey shuts down your game in neutral route and chara's "jumpscare" is just shaking the window in genocide but that's really about it. also the use of save being more than just a save file is a cool concept but it still feels kinda "locked from potential".

oneshot, however. absolutely wins at utilizing the breaking the fourth wall gimmick and it even goes BEYOND what you'd think falls under that trope - so much so that it even freaked me out but it's all because its so impressive. its literally crucial to the plot that it has to feature you, the player.

perhaps this is definitely bias, but ive played undertale so many times, covering pacifist a few times and genocide once but memories are as fresh as the first day - and it only dawned on me this month how beautiful oneshot is
