One of your recent reblogs made me realize something: people have to dehumanize Palestinians to support them?
They dehumanize them by portraying them as inherently good/perfect and especially by portraying them as indigenous. Arabs are not indigenous to the Levant. To care about Palestinian suffering they need the indigenous narrative. But it shouldn't be like that. They're not indigenous and their oppression still matters. Arabs colonized and that's how they got there. That's been their home for a long time now so they OBVIOUSLY rightfully belong there but at the same time they are not indigenous and that's okay.
In some sick twisted way, it feels like people won't realize this fact because it will make them not care about Palestinians?
Anyway this is seriously a conversation we need to have because now they're claiming everything Jewish as Palestinian just because they cannot accept that we are indigenous and so they have to make shit up :(
yes yes yes!!! absolutely.
it's important to know because indigenousness is the only way to fit palistinians into the noble savage stereotype and it's the only way to fit jews into the colonizer roll. which is why that's such a fucked up and dehumanizing structure to try to fit this war into. no population is a perfect victim or villain and to flatten people like that is how manifest destiny and colonization really got public support. it's also an unsustainable lie that will lead to one hell of a blow back when Palestinians "betray" it by being people and not wanting to die or live under hamas. what's fucked up is that the majority of people, conservatives and centrists all across the globe see jews as noble savages and Palestinians and inhuman monsters so jews need to worry about that same "I'm actually a flawed human, not a group" betrayal too. all over the west conservatives and centrists want muslim and arab citizens of their own countries to leave, pointing to the reaction to oct 7 and terror attacks as proof of it.
now that an evangelical is about to be in charge of american policy to israel, netanyahu still in power, and israel/jews have generally already suffered for the crimes of being "colonizers" with none of the benefits my real fear is that he will annex more of the west bank, maybe even the north of gaza. which will fuck up my life in the diaspora but also isn't sustainable, ethical, or long term practical. every month liberal governments don't address those fears of terrorism and coddle the Qanon like delusions of leftists the more strength the conservative narrative gains. it just means the western world will give away more human rights in exchange for safety, and world conflict gets more likely.
