I can do it alone, but he can also save me
Fem reader x Hwang In-ho / Fem reader x Hwang Jun-ho
Part 1 // Part 2

•Summary: Jun-ho's girlfriend was a decorated policegirl, strong and brave, she, along with Gi-hun were taken to the games to stop them, however, there was a setback in between
•Note: Thanks for the support! Here I bring you the second part of this one shot that is personally one of my favorites.
•Warning: Maybe some drama, Some violence and attempted abuse, ¡Don't worry! this man arrives on time like a prince on a white horse
N/A: I haven't checked this yet, sorry if it has spelling mistakes
Gi-hun had told some participants that the next game would be dalgona, but it was not so and now they were upset with him, surrounding him and complaining about his mistake, calling him a "liar."
—You guys decided to play these games —the girl said standing in front of Gi-hun —Face the consequences and don't expect someone to come and save us.
—He's a fraud! —Player 100 shouted at him, pointing at accusingly and with contempt.
—ibelieve in him word —001 interrupted, standing next to her.
Due to the first impression that the two made on all the players, the complaints immediately stopped and retreated.
—It's nothing, I really believe you —Young-il said with a friendly expression
—And if you allow me... I would like to be on your team.
The next game would be in teams of five players, counting the girl, Gi-hun, Jung-bae, Dae-ho and now Young-il, they were full, however, when they were talking to get to know each other a little, a woman with the number 222 on his uniform approached them cautiously.
—¿Can I be on your team? Please —Jung-bae was going to interrupt her to tell that they were full but the young woman finished his sentence first —I'm pregnant.
The five pairs of eyes fell on the small bulge of her belly and noticed that it was true. Immediately, the woman spoke. —I'll look for another team.
—¿Are you sure you'll do it?— In-ho asked, looking at her carefully. A person who looked out for someone else's well-being in these games was rare to see, but considering the situation, it was quite understandable. He wouldn't give up his place if he wasn't so interested in his enemy.
She nodded confidently and left to find another team, it didn't take long, after all, most people took advantage of having someone like her on their team just by considering the word "police" in their introduction.
Once the teams were formed and they were told what had to do, they sat on the floor to wait the turn.
As time passed and gunshots mixed with screams sounded in the background, the young woman thought silently.
¿Will Jun-ho be okay? She really hoped so, she had known him for four years and knew that there were times when he could go to extremes to get what wanted.
It was something she loved about him but right now just worried about.
—¿What game are you going to play? —246 asked sitting next to her, momentarily taking her out of his thoughts.
—Gonggi —answered immediately, she was very good at that game, it had been his favorite since she was a child.
The others nodded and continued talking, she didn't go there with the intention of socializing too much.
For starters.
She was only there because Jun-ho had asked her to.
Jun-ho...
She just hoped him could find her and Gi-hun in time.
The policeman had no intention of stopping now, even without having the tracker active and with the fact that apparently someone was sabotaging them from inside, he was not going to stop searching.
The woman he loved was in those games, that wasn't going to be the plan, she was only supposed to be Gi-hun's bodyguard but things didn't go as planned.
—I think we should stop, it's almost time to eat and we're a bit far from the shore.
—We can't be so close now —he said, somewhat irritated and helpless. —Every minute they spend on that island is a danger.
He felt guilty for having dragged her into his own problems.
He remembered the last conversation he had with her before he lost sight of her.
[...]
—We are police officers —Jun-ho said, showing his badge to the guard who was guarding the entrance of the place
—Just like everyone else tonight —the man said with a mocking laugh, pointing at the long line waiting to get into the Halloween party.
Jun-ho didn't have enough patience to tolerate this, so with no other choice he went up to the man and took his gun out of his pocket.
—¿Do you want to see if this is a toy?
The guard stepped back in fear, giving them free passage.
The girl smiled proudly and waved her hand as if it were hot while sighed.
—That's my man —she boasted to the guard as they crossed the entrance. Jun-ho managed to hear her and inevitably a sly smile appeared on his lips.
—We have to find him before they do —he said, referring to Gi-hun searching the crowd but no masked pink guard was visible.
—It will be faster if we separate —she added, taking out her weapon and pointing it at the ground just to be ready in case used it —When we leave here it will be fondue night —she said without losing her charming touch.
It was something they both shared, despite being in tense situations like this, comments like that were never lacking, especially from the girl and that was something Jun-ho adored, her daring was part of what made the policeman fall in love with her.
—Maybe I should drag you into my problems more often —He replied with a smile and separated from her.
The girl was the first to find Gi-hun and surprisingly they let her get into the limo with him.
Jun-ho was unhappy about that but he couldn't change her mind and just when they thought they could intercept the front man of those suicide games they were forced to make a last-minute decision by shooting at the tires of the cars.
[...]
His stomach turned just remembering what people go through inside those games, he trusted that she could survive but the odds of not making him tremble and want to vomit.
—Okay... we'll call off the search —He relented after a few minutes.
He looked up at the sky and asked whoever would listen him to keep the woman he loves alive.
Meanwhile on the island, they had managed to get through the second game alive, she was sitting with Gi-hun's team silently watching around them when 001 sat next to her.
—Hi... —he greeted her with a soft smile, hoping that the mask being Young-il was convincing enough to fool her —I'm curious... if you're a police officer, ¿how did you end up here?
—¿Debts? —She replied with a false smile —My job was to take care of Mr. Seong but it didn't turn out the way I had in mind —she admitted, looking away again but feeling Young-il's intense gaze on her.
—So... ¿you're here as an undercover agent? —he asked, feigning surprise and curiosity.
He himself was the one who gave the order to allow her to also get into the limousine to accompany Gi-hun.
In-ho knew his brother would be worried about her, searching for her relentlessly, but it was inevitable, he needed to meet her in person and be sure how good of an influence she was on Jun-ho.
Or at least he thought it was a good excuse.
—Yeah... —She looked at him silently and attentively when she noticed a certain peculiarity in him appearance —¿Do I know you from somewhere? I feel like I've seen you before...
Him face seemed familiar but she couldn't figure out why. In-ho kept eye contact with her, waiting for her answer.
It was a pity, if she recognize it him had no other option to let her die in the next games but luckily for the girl she denied it.
—Forget it, I'm just stressed ¿And why are you here?
—My wife is sick and pregnant.
She looked at him with pity as he told her his story, it wasn't a lie, it was just that it happened years ago and he couldn't do anything to keep her alive.
—I'm sorry —The girl said after he finished his words.—I promise we'll get out of here and I'll help you as much as I can with the expenses.
The police had money, not to say that she was a millionaire but she lived in a good social status, she was willing to help him only because her heart was softened by him story.
–You barely know me, ¿why would you do that?
—My boyfriend has also had a somewhat hard life and I took this job for a reason, to help others.
She did not consider herself a saint, but if she had the opportunity to do something good for other people, she would do it regardless of the consequences.
—Also... I think I'm pregnant —She said with a small smile.
How chaotic and unfair could fate be that just one night before she was to go to the medical laboratory for her results, she was taken to those games against will.
On the other hand, she could also feel a slight connection with this stranger, which was why she revealed that to him so naturally, but she still didn't know exactly why.
—I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back.
He nodded and watched her leave but his eyes also noticed three other suspicious looking players who followed her into the bathroom.
Without thinking twice he also stood up.
Not even two minutes had passed since she entered the bathroom when a woman grabbed her by the collar of the jacket and threw her backwards, making her fall on back.
–¿You remember me? —the woman demanded, looking at her with disdain and annoyance
—No —She answered standing up.
—You threw my husband into prison and won't be out for another twenty years —The woman pulled out a small pocket knife and another woman stood behind the police girl to hold her —I thought about how to kill you for days.
—Very cute, I still don't know who you are.
Those words only made the woman even more furious as lunged at her and tried to stab her,
Her hard training served her well in this unarmed fight.
But she was counting on another man to come in to help the two players who were trying to kill the young policewoman.
—Three against one unarmed is not fair... —she gasped for air as saw that he had a small opening in his head, her had hit himself on the sink at one point during the fight.
—¡It was also not fair that my husband was sentenced to twenty years in prison for attempted abuse!
—Oh, believe me, I tried to make it forty.
A kick to the face from one of them managed to stun her long enough to give them time to pin her down on the cold, damp bathroom floor.
She couldn't hear clearly what they were saying but when she saw how the man placed himself on top of her, their intentions were quite clear.
She didn't have enough strength to continue defending himself, her felt bleeding from his leg from the knife and the cut on his head hurt, but like a hero coming to save the day, Young-il walked through the door and shouted "Hey!"
That small interruption was enough for her to hit the man in the genitals with her knee, making him move away and moan in pain.
She was too stunned to see what was happening, but before she knew it, he had her in him arms and walked out of the bathroom leaving the two women unconscious on the floor and the man with a bleeding nose.
—¡You should do a better job as guards! —he yelled at the two pink soldiers guarding the door, she didn't know it but that scolding was enough to fire those two.
He carefully led her to the men's room where, due to his front man advantages, he was able to have a guard deny another player access until he said so.
—Thanks... —Her murmured as he dropped her on the ground—But I had it under control.
She let out a giggle that made his ribs hurt, In-ho refrained from laughing, now he had to focus on fixing her wounds.
—Being a police officer you made many enemies —He said while using his jacket with some water to clean her.
—You have no idea.
In-ho continued to clean her wounds and after a few minutes everything was better for her, the girl stood up cautiously because of the wound on her leg and thanked Young-il with a small bow.
—Thanks for helping me, for the second time.
—I hope it doesn't become routine —he said with a soft smile, looking her up and down unconsciously.
When they came out of the bathroom there were suspicious glances but neither of them cared.
It was cute, she liked the way this man treated whenever her found himself in trouble, in a way he reminded her of Jun-ho,
She liked that even though she could defend herself, there was still a knight in shining armor who would arrive in the worst situations.
Young-il, the gentleman who arrived just in time and the only one who knew about her suspected pregnancy.

Y/N POV
"Danny! You can't just say things like that," I laugh loudly with the Australian in front of me. I can feel my cheeks growing red from the sexual joke Daniel just cracked.
I can feel a hand on my lower back making me look over my shoulder to find Lando making my smile grow more before I lean up and place a kiss on his cheek.
"What are you two up to?" Lando questions with a slight edge in his voice.
"Was just telling, Y/N about my summer break," Daniel says with a smile. I watch as Lando's face grows in a smile before he's ushering us towards the bar.
"Don't wander to far," Lando tells me making me look up and smile.
"Okay, babe!" I say when I place a kiss on his cheek.
"Are you okay?" I ask Lando softly making him nod his head before flagging the bartender down and ordering both of us drinks.
As time passed I found myself talking with Charles and Ollie.
"Charles! You'll have to invite me over sometime!" I tell Charles as he finishes telling me how he finally got Leo to stop peeing in the kitchen.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt but I'm just gonna steal her away. We have early morning plans so I gotta get this one off to bed," Lando says randomly interrupting making me raise a brow before trying to speak.
"Say bye," Lando tells me before I can even say anything.
I just turn back towards the two men waving a good bye before following Lando out of the club.
"I literally told you not to wander off," Lando snapped when we finally hopped into our Uber.
"Lando, I could see you the whole time," I reply back softly not understanding why he was so mad.
"Could you? Cause there was a solid 5 minutes where I was wandering around to find you," Lando tells me roughly making me huff and turn my back on him to look out the window.
Lando and I sat in silence for the rest of the car ride when we finally pulled up to his apartment building instantly making me get out and march to the front doors not waiting for Lando.
When we get into his apartment I lock myself in his bathroom still not wanting to talk to him, but eventually I had to face him and when I walked out of the bathroom I was changed into a silky sleep dress while Lando was sitting in bed in his boxers.
"I don't wanna see you entertaining men anymore. You're mine," Lando says not even looking up from his phone.
"Last time I checked, you were the one who was adamant we were nothing more than sex and money," I reply back while climbing into the bed next to Lando.
"Do you see the way you walked into my home like it was yours? How you climb into MY bed like it was yours? The way you have half my closet full of your stuff? That's all because you're mine, whether it has been a discussion or not, you have come into my life and fucked up any prior deal, so fucking sue me if I set a boundary with you," Lando finally snaps back making me look around his room realizing that over the year of us hooking up for money I had basically moved in. I had made his home our home and I didn't even realize.
"Lando, I think we should have this discussion when we are both fully sober," I tell him softly. I knew what I wanted sober or drunk I wanted Lando to be mine but was this just some drunk game Lando was playing.
"No, I'm barely fucking tipsy., I didn't even realize you didn't realize you were mine. I thought it was unspoken," Lando tells me softly before turning towards me and placing a soft kiss on my lips.
"Do you know how many men want to fuck you?" Lando questioned with a raised brow making me laugh slightly.
"Lando, you're the only man who wants to fuck me," I reply back with a roll of the eye.
"You're mine," Lando said moving topics again and pulling me in for a heated make-out session.
I quickly climb into Lando's lap and grind my bare pussy against his briefs making his groan slightly.
"I'm gonna put a baby in you," Lando tells me softly making me sit up and stare at him in complete shock.
"The fuck are you on about now?" I ask Lando before he pulls me back into for a kiss where he flips us over so I am now under Lando letting him grind into me backing me whimper.
"You're mine and when you walk around that fucking paddock in 6 months everyone will fucking know you're mine," Lando said while trailing kisses down my neck making it clear he was marking his territory.
"You're insane," I whisper back but it quickly turns into a moan because Lando is leaning down and taking a soft lick out of my clit.
"Daddy," I moan when Lando starts sucking on my clit while lightly teasing my soaked hole with his fingers.
"Oh fuck," I scream out when Lando slips 2 fingers in and finds my G-spot.
"I want you to cum on my fingers," Lando says while speeding his actions making me feel the band in m stomach start to grow tight letting me know I was close to cumming for Lando.
"Daddy," I scream out when the band finally snaps and I'm cumming all over Lando's fingers. Lando helped ride my orgasm out before he's pulling his briefs down and roughly shoving his cock deep into my pussy.
"Oh! Daddy," I gasp still not fully recovered from my previous orgasm and can already feel a second one building up.
"Fucking hell, so damn needy already gonna cum for me," Lando said with a smirk while bringing his hand down to my clit and giving it a rough rub bringing me closer to the edge.
"Daddy," I whine when I feel myself reach the point of no return, cumming all over Lando's cock with a shout. I was shaking and so long in my own pleasure, I don't feel Lando's hips shutter as he fills my pussy full of his cum.
"I can't wait to watch you swell with my babies," Lando groans with a smirk while slowly pulling out of me.
"Lando, I probably didn't get pregnant from one time," I tell him softly with a laugh falling from my lips.
"I'll fuck you until you do," Lando says with a shrug. That night we fell asleep tangled in each other's arms.
6 weeks later
"Fucking hell," I gasp while staring down at the positive pregnancy test.
"I told you, you were gonna have my babies," Lando said with a proud smirk.
"Lando, what the fuck are we gonna do?" I ask starting to panic.
"Hey, calm down! It's all gonna work itself out," Lando tells me softly while pulling me into his chest.
"I can't wait to see everyone's face when you show up to the paddock supporting a bump caused by me baby," Lando tells me making me laugh lightly.
I knew we would figure everything out. It wasn't how I pictured myself getting pregnant but boy am I happy it's how it happened.

I will die on the hill I am camping on currently and tell you all that Fontaine would 100% have basic sex toys and fucking machines.
Anyway, I want to put Neuvillette on all fours and watch him get railed by an inanimate object or well a fucking machine, so enjoy!
It was a gift from the warden, a little wink and a nudge written in the note that came with the delivery as the heavy box was passed towards you, instructions folded and bound neatly atop it in an unsuspecting booklet.
Wriothesley was nothing if not smug when you blushed as you read the title printed in neat black writing.
Wiring, spare cogs, bolts and everything else making a mess of the floor as you messed up a few times and had to redo the lines of wires that would make this strange gift work, now all you needed was your dear Iudex to come home for the fun to truly begin.
Offering to play new games of pleasure with Neuvillette was something new, something you had only just barely managed to get him to agree to. Sighing as you can already see the arch of his back, the sight of his cocks hanging hard between his legs as he rocks backwards into the feeling of your hands spreading him wide, while only partly divine it is still easy to fall into this daydream almost like an act of worship.
It is a dance and a half as he comes home, tired smile and soft hands cupping your cheeks as you coax him through a long and through bath, teasing away the idea of a calm night and managing to ease him into the very position you had daydreamed about.
On his hands and knees, a pillow cushioning his form and making this more comfortable as you begin.
The trust he has in you as you ease him open, fingers slowly working in and out of him, streaching and easing the way for something much bigger, much more filling and surely more rough than you could ever be with him. The slick shine of lube and sweat makes already glittering skin seem ethereal in the low light of the room, and the deep groans that follow as you pull your fingers free, sliding your hands up and down his back shushing the slight whine that follows you pulling away.
"Shh, shhh, honey I'll be right back, this surprise was a gift and I spent all afternoon setting it up just for you! Now sit still and be good for me, I'll be right back..." pulling his hair away from his back and out of the way as you teasingly run your hands down his horns, the messy kiss you steal as you finish up is worth it as Neuvillette is nothing if not a sight with cheeks flushed a deep red and mouth open as he pants, chasing more of your kisses.
"Now comes the fun part, you know what to say if you want it to all stop, but for now behave this is more for you than me."
The blunt press of the toy attached to the machine makes him jolt, rattling his frame and causing him to gasp, the mess of lube across his hole and the toy means you have to guide the head in, pressing down on the lukewarm silicon, completely entranced as the head slips in, shallow as shallow can be before the small switch in your hand lets you ease the machine to life.
The piston arm slowly worked the toy deeper and deeper into him, sinking to the base in a matter of moments, so slowly working him into the feeling of the mechanical fucking that he was about to experience, "Look at you honey, so pretty like this, such a big powerful dragon on his hands and knees getting fucked by a lowly mortal machine..." its easy to coo at him like this, sighing as you wrap a hand around one of his cocks, stroking in time with the arm fucking into him.
"Shall we go a little faster? Harder? Or maybe you want me to stop? What will it be precious?"
The machine is still slow enough that you can clearly make out the way he pants a shameful 'harder' and 'faster', letting you flick your wrist once more, smearing the dripping pre-cum along his shaft before turning the dial on the remote up, filling the air with hisses of air compressing as the toy that was fucking him speeds up, making him throb in your hand.
The tense muscles of his back shifting as he bucks back into the machine hips chasing the full feeling as you give the cock in your hand one more long stroke before moving back towards his face. Snagging a pillow for your own knees makes it easier to get comfortable, long since having stripped down and joined Neuvillette in nakedness, tilting his head up so you can see how his eyes are barely focused, hazy and lost as they look up at you.
"look at you big boy, barely started and you already look wrecked, Maybe I should find some more little attachments for this thing, keep you fucked dumb and pretty like this whenever I want..."
From the amount of panting he had done, Neuvillette's chin was slick with spit and perfectly positioned for you to press against his face, using the excess spit to slick yourself up more before pressing against his lips. Fingers drag through his hair as he presses forward, taking you with his mouth and laving against the skin, his hips twitching as he pulls forwards to pleasure you and making the machine press further into him.
The power for the machine would last at least another hour and a half, and there were two more speeds and one more angle that you could set the arm into, the night was still young and the look of your dear hydro dragon panting lips slick with spit and your own mess was nothing if not encouraging you to push him further into this new pleasure.
Perhaps Wriothesley would like a new tea set or two for gifting this too you...

Alrighty folks I finished the game. I will put non-spoiler thoughts here and then put my spoiler thoughts under the cut. Again, these are MY OPINIONS. I am happy to hear your thoughts but I'm not arguing with you because you won't change my mind.
* holy shit this is a big game
* Mournwatch is the best faction in my opinion. Idk they're just cool and not problematic lol
* there is some retconning of established facts, but I take it this way: it's been a long time since the original trilogy's events. Origins was canonically sometime almost 20 years before Veilguard - think of life 20 years ago, it was very different. A lot can change and gods coming back changes a lot. Factions grow and change and become something different. Also this is NORTHERN Thedas, an area we've never played in. With few exceptions we've always had companions from the south and learned information about the north second hand. I think that's important to keep in mind when people complain about things not staying the same or 'lore accurate.'
* I still recommend picking the same faction as your projected romantic interest
* The cameos are ... Fine. Again, it's been a long time in game. Are you the same person you were 10 years ago? 20 years? I think Morrigan is the most disappointing but my headcanon is that motherhood has really suited her, also a decision she made off screen that is explained to you during the course of the game also made her personality make a little more sense
* I think I liked this game because I went in with an open mind. I have always loved Bioware games for the writing and the companions and this game has those in spades. I loved how fleshed out the characters were though it doesn't approach the levels that say, Baldur's Gate 3 reaches. But overall it was an enjoyable experience, around 65 hours for me to finish just about everything. Though maybe shave off about 5 hours for the character creator, which was great.
Okay so now for the spoilers. DO NOT OPEN IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS!!
* I maxed out all of my companions and factions and nearly 100% every area. There was no quest undone. I think that's why I got a good ending, namely Solas agreeing to bind himself to the Veil, sharing a big kiss with Lavellan, and walking into the Fade together. I did lose one member, Harding, and that fucking sucked. I haven't looked into spoilers so I don't know if switching her and Davrin would have made a difference cause Davrin is a Warden and would have fared better against the blight idk. I'll have to look into it. Overall I was happy though.
* I ... Should have seen the Varric twist but I wasn't looking for it so it just passed over me. I was devastated, but I think that it was well done and well earned. Still sad though. That was the second time I cried during the finale, after Harding.
* This felt like a Bioware game to me. It felt big, it felt complex, and the humor was always there. The QoL improvements and expansion of classes and abilities made this so much fun.
* I felt the romances were lacking a bit in content, though Emmrich had suuuuch a sweet and gentle romance. I loved it so much. They banged in a graveyard in what I assume is a coffin. A+ love him, love Manfred. I just wish I had kiss options a la BG3. I got spoiled. 😅
* I'll play this again. And again. That's how my brain works. I think they need to patch a sort of 'golden nug' option into the game and a new game plus to make things better. If there are DLC, I'll happily play them.

The Past Records: Jude Jazza & Ellis Twilight - Preview Translation

Fan translation only. Not 100% accurate. Cybird owns everything.
Translations notes/clarifications are notated at the bottom of the post with ***
Preview page: The contractual relationship between the intelligent yakuza and the happiness-obsessed junkie.
We met four years ago, I believe.
The night I drifted into the town of London, I passed by a bridge looking for a place to stay and saw a man looking up at the moon.
I looked at his empty-looking profile and thought he was going to fall straight into the river when he finished his cigarette.
So I ended up asking the question.
Ellis: Are you happy?
Jude: Ha? What if I were happy?
Ellis: I'll make the happiest moment of you're life....last forever.
Jude: Ha. What is that? Are you crazy?
Jude: The happiest I've ever been in my life. Maybe-
This was before the little robin wandered into the dark night -
This episode is about Ellis & Jude.....and their encounter with the “Crown”.
Harrison: Hey, can we really trust those guys?
William: Why not check it out? You can stay overnight.
Harrison's minor concerns lead to the mobilization of the entire Crown to “observe the way of life of Ellis and Jude”!?***
Alfons: I have to tell you a horrifying fact.
Elbert: What is that?
Alfons: Surprisingly, those two have been working.....the entire time!!
Liam: What?! How diligent!
The way of life of the two is revealed - ***
Roger: So, what is it you want to ask me?
Harrison: Can you tell me anything you know about Jude or Ellis before you came here?
The past of two people.
Liam: Why don't you two try it out?
The sincerity of two people are tested.
Jude: Ellis, that thing, you've noticed it.
Ellis: Yeah.....What are we going to do? Catch it right away?
Jude: No.
Jude: If we're going to take care of it....let's put it all together.
Can the two of them form a dependable relationship with the Crown?
And what is the moment that Ellis and Jude met.......
The early bonus depicts Ellis' and Jude's first mission for the Crown!
Ellis: The moon is beautiful tonight, too.
Jude: Yea, I feel like sh*t.
In addition, you can read an original his POV story between you and him in his ranking benefits!
“What kind of person is Ellis from Jude's point of view?”
Jude was asked such a question by you.
Jude: So, why'd the princess ask me that?
Kate: What?
Jude: Even though I've let you talk all this time, I can't take it easy on ya, right?
“What kind of person is Jude in your opinion, Ellis?”
Ellis was asked such a question by you.
Ellis: Today, all I hear is about Jude.
Kate: What?
Ellis: Why?
Ellis and Jude, Crown, and you.
Would you like to take a peek into the fate of each of us, entwined like thorny vines in the dark of night?
***This character 生態 is literally translated as: Ecology and/or mode of life. I was going to use the term ‘movements’ instead, but that didn’t fit the context of its second mention. So, I went with the phrase: way of life.

-- party first meets; marauders' era! regulus black, evan rosier, barty crouch jr. (separately) wherein one meets them at a party for the first time.
cw: fluff!! bartender evan, own characterization of evan and barty (kinda influenced by t*kt*k oneshots), flirty barty, probs a little ooc reg? pandora mentions in evan's and throwing up mentions in barty's.
[ i don't know what to tell you guys about this one. au where it's a perfect world and no one is fighting? haha. anyway, my characterization isn't perfect and it isn't 100% tiktok based, but yeah. it's a you like it or hate it moment. i've had this in the back of my notes app for so long too so the characterization is also months old. ]
masterlist | rules
[ evan rosier ]
"just how sure are you that that's even safe to put in your mouth, pandora?" i ask, eyebrows raised as i eye the cup she had in her hand.
"well, i trust the bartender, so," the blonde shrugs and takes a swig from the cup, a look of satisfaction on her face when the initial bitterness wears off.
"the bartender?" i ask, mouth agape, "you mean to tell me there's a bartender during slytherin house parties?"
"you would know if you came around when i would invite you to them," pandora says in a singsong voice, taking another sip and making a sound of satisfaction before offering the cup to me, "want a taste?"
"i don't know..." my eyes squint in suspicion, "do i?"
"it's really good,"
"i don't care what my mother says, you are a terrible influence on me,"
"one drink," she whines, "just one and i'll never peer pressure you into taking another one again,"
"you're terrible," i shake my head, sighing, "but fine - i better not have magically ended up face first in someone's toilet when i wake up tomorrow,"
pandora squeals in excitement, clapping happily before taking my hand and weaving through the crowd of students in the slytherin common room all the way to the back, where a transfigured mini-bar stood and behind the bar stood one of the handsomest (and most terrifying) students in slytherin -- evan rosier.
it was hard not have heard about him, or the rumors about veela blood running through his veins. maybe it had nothing to do with veelas and good looks just ran in their blood, we will never know. as i watched him pour out drinks, i suddenly understood why a multitude of students - male and female alike - developed some sort of liking for him. (okay, maybe i did too at one point in time during my early years in hogwarts but that is not the focus here, okay?)
pandora walks over to him, and he nods in acknowledgement to her before looking at me up and down.
"you remember them, right? i tell you about them?" pandora pats my shoulder, "well, they have never had a drink by you before, so, i obviously had to drag the over here to have a taste,"
"you say plenty pandora," evan deadpans, raising an eyebrow and smirking when pandora makes a noise of protest.
but evan nods, finishing off one drink before leaning against his palms on the counter, looking over me again in a way that had me shuffling behind pandora.
merlin, he was intimidating.
"you have any preferences?" he asks, voice smooth like butter.
"preferences...?"
"how hard do you want your alcohol?" pandora supplies.
"are you a lightweight? wouldn't want you passing out in the middle of the school hallways, merlin knows pandora won't be able to lug you all the way back to your dorms with how drunk she'll be at the end of the night,"
pandora makes another offended noise and her hand lightly swats the poor man's arm but he doesn't flinch. that alone was enough to tell me that he might have been already used to her antics.
"you're painting me in a bad light here rosier," she grumbles, "how am i supposed to convince her to come over to the next party now?"
"have you tried asking nicely?"
"...i've tried dragging her here with a bag over her head but who really keeps track - oh, there you are!"
i have little to no chance to protest before pandora latches onto one of her ravenclaw friends, the latter throwing his arm over her with loud laughter before they disappear into the crowd - presumably to disturb someone else in that friendship circle, but what mattered to me in that moment as that despite all her promises, pandora had left me unattended with one of the most intimidating students in hogwarts and he was watching me like an ant under a microscope, his arms flexing as they glided over the makeshift bar.
"she'll be back to check on you eventually," evan drawls out, sliding a dark glass that hid the color of the liquid inside over to me.
i went quiet and he must have sensed my apprehension to pick up the cup.
"pandora would strangle me if i slipped anything less than savory in there," he calls over his shoulder, pulling out bottles from a shelf behind him, "plus, i wouldn't want to scare you away already, not when i think that it'd be nice to have new faces to learn about,"
"meaning?" i ask quizzically, the first time i ever actually properly acknowledged him, pulling the glass closer to me.
he shrugs, "i know every single slytherins' - the ones old enough to drink, of course - order by heart, it's the same old, same old, party after party, new face means taking time away from that bunch -" evan nods towards the other side of the common room where pandora and the rest of their group stood, presumably causing havoc, with a fond smile, "- to help someone figure out just exactly what they want," his eyes find mine and i can't help the heat from warming my cheeks and the bastard didn't even try to hide the smirk he had on.
i hum in faux contemplation, looking away awkwardly and taking a sip before my eyes widen at the burst of flavors, "oh wow," i say simply, taking a bigger sip.
evan's head drops as he laughs to himself at my reaction and he lifts it again as he extends his hand towards me, "evan rosier, by the way,"
i smile back, shaking his hand, "nice to meet you,"
honestly, all i could think about was how nice he looked when he smiled - and if i should indulge pandora the next time she invites me to a party in the slytherin common room.
[ regulus black ]
bathroom lines pain me immensely.
you'd think that with the amount of students they have in this damn school they'd build more efficient bathrooms, but no.
true, there were more bathrooms around this floor, but those were too far away and far too hidden in dark hallways patrolled by the professors for half-drunk people to wander to so here i was, standing in line for the bathroom that i was positive held the same person for 15 minutes and counting.
i sigh, checking my watch and tapping my foot impatiently, the music blaring in the common room too loud for me to even think properly much less think to kick the door down just so i could pee.
the man behind me echoed my sigh, and he moved to stand beside me in the cramped hallway in such a way that i was pressed against the wall and i could catch every detail of his side profile plus the smell of booze and his cologne, a hint of a tattoo on his arm peeking out of his rolled up sleeves - and i catch myself gawking and i shake my head as if to rid myself of my delusions. but that's not the point, the point was that he reached his arm past my head to knock impatiently at the door.
then again, and again and i remained in the same position until he sighed and looked over at me.
"sorry about that," he says, leaning down so i could hear his voice.
"'s no problem," i murmur back, the alcohol in my veins increasing the chances that i would say something stupid if i kept staring at him, so i lowered my gaze to the shoes on my feet, "guess i'm not going to the bathroom anytime soon,"
with the dingy lighting in this part of the hallway plus the music pounding in my ear, it was hard to tell who exactly it was i was conversing with, not that it mattered at the moment - i was at this party to enjoy myself, not overthink about the identity of a strange man i met by the bathrooms. doesn't that just sound wrong?
"unfortunately, yes," the man grumbles, "but - nevermind,"
i raise my head to look at him, head tilting it to the side curiously, "hmm?"
"...i don't want to make you uncomfortable," he answers gruffly.
"ah," i smile tightly, "right, i see, thanks,"
the music fills the silence between us again and we both stay where we were, not moving a bit even though we knew there was no chance in hell whoever was in the bathroom was not coming out any time soon.
soon enough, he sighs again, "there's a bathroom in my dorm, if you're up to going in there,"
"well, why'd you line up in the communal bathroom instead of go up to your dorm to use the bathroom there?"
'so he was a slytherin then', i thought to myself. that narrowed down the possibilities but the list of slytherin students old enough to be partying (plus the ones that snuck in) was still pretty broad, but i needed to be on guard - a stranger at a party? no one can be too safe. i pat my wand through my clothes to make sure it was still in my pocket.
"my friends are barring the path to the dorms like a bunch of cavemen," the stranger says irritatedly, "they think i'm going to lock myself up in the dorm again,"
i stay quiet, mulling over this information, "would you have? locked yourself up in your dorm? no offense, but i'm guessing you aren't a big fan of the party scene,"
"i would have, and don't worry, i am indeed not a fan,"
silence again.
"well?" he asks, starting to fidget.
"hmm?" i look up at him and it takes a while for his earlier offer to register in my brain again and when it does, i start to sputter a little, "are you sure you won't mind? your dorm mates won't mind?"
"you've been waiting longer than i have and those morons are probably wasted somewhere," he shakes his head, "we'll slip in and out quickly, they won't notice and i don't mind,"
i think for a bit and my bladder decided to remind me that i was in desperate need of a bathroom so i nod, "sure - yeah, if you're sure, i'd appreciate it, thanks,"
"c'mon then," his head jerks in the other direction and i follow atfer him, almost getting lost in the crowd of people, but he was nice enough to glance back every once in a while to make sure i was still following after him.
the lights were brighter when we got to the main room, but he never turned around long enough for me to see who he was, but i could tell he was well dressed. extremely well dressed for a house party but dishevelled enough that he didn't look too out of place. i shake my head again, realizing that i was getting to lost in my own drunk thoughts, and when a pair of dancing students nearly separated me from him, i instinctively reached for the back of his white button-up and he looks back immediately and my hand drops as quickly as i reached for him when i realize who he was.
"regulus black," i murmur, my hand drawn to my chest like i had been burned.
no one was immune or deaf to the rumors about him, about his family. as unapproachable as he seemed, he was a decent enough person inside of the classroom in the sense that as a partner, he was more than capable of carrying his own in a task, basing on rumors, of course. it didn't help that he was also a beautiful man, though i would never say that out loud. i totally understand why the girls in our year found him attractive even though he was intimidating.
"still need the bathroom or do you not wish to be seen with me?" regulus deadpans and i am reminded that we are standing in the middle of the dance floor.
"aren't you worried about the rumors that could start if someone saw you taking me into your room? regardless of the real reason - which people will totally ignore,"
"i don't care at this point," he rolls his eyes, "hurry up if you still want to,"
i did. i still wanted (and needed) to use his bathroom. worries about rumors be damned.
his friends - crouch and rosier - had intercepted us at the steps and the music was too loud for me to comprehend what they started teasing him about, plus the way that i was still reeling from the fact that regulus black just offered for me to use his bathroom.
he taps on my shoulder and i look up at him, blinking and trying to ignore the looks barty and evan were giving us both out of the corner of my eye.
"wait -" i pause when we're halfway up the stairs, introducing myself with a shaky extended hand and he looks at me curiously.
"i thought i'd introduce myself before i intrude in your private space,"
he looks almost amused, glancing at the ground with a shake of his head and he takes my hand in his, shaking it firmly, "regulus, regulus black," he smirks and i feel my heart beat faster, "delighted to make your acquaintance."
[ barty crouch jr. ]
i was not a party person. maybe half a party person but not exactly the most social butterfly that i go hunting for parties just that if i was invited, i'd be more inclined to attend so long as someone was with me.
and right now, the *insert colorful insult here* that invited me to a party hosted by the slytherin quidditch team for their well-fought win against hufflepuff was no where to be seen.
re-entering the room after not seeing him anywhere outside, i sigh, feeling a dull throb in my temples as i contemplated just leaving without him and pretending to wave away his half-assed apologies for leaving me alone at a party tomorrow morning.
turning back to the door, sudden chanting of his name had my turning back and scanning the room for where the commotion was - a large table in one of the corners that hadn't been occupied by dancing groups and couples surrounded by a small crowd of people. curiously, i approach it. might as well tell him i was about to leave his ass alone here to navigate his way back to his dorm alone.
i worm my way to the front of the crowd, earning more than a few elbows to the side and snarky comments about taking up the good spot, but i could only gawk as i watched my friend chug a glass (an extremely large glass) of some mystery liquid i was glad i wasn't pouring into my mouth if the strong smell was all we were going on.
"seriously?" i groan, catching his attention when he lowers the glass and the crowd cheers, stopping when he hurls his guts out into a bucket.
feeling the weight of someone's stare into the side of my head, i glance in that direction and i immediately avert my eyes when they do indeed meet someone else's.
"that your date?" the person asks in a cocky voice, stepping closer to my date from the side of the table opposite me.
begrudgingly, he nods, clutching his stomach.
my eyes widen, "i am not -"
"barty crouch jr., love, a pleasure," the stranger - now barty, i suppose, sticks his hand out to me and i hesitantly shake it, which earns another round of cheering from the crowd around me and i fix a sharp glare at my friend, pulling my hand from barty's.
"what did you do?"
"made a bet that he now has to pay for - quite a few of them, actually," barty laughs.
"what does that have to do with me?" i ask snarkily.
"let me explain it to her -"
"he bet me 5 galleons i couldn't drink my own glass of that," barty nods at the now empty glass my friend drank from, "and it just built up from that until he ended up promising me a date with you,"
i stare at barty, then back at my sheepishly smiling friend, the moron was already rubbing the back of his head like he was anticipating when i'd hit him, "you absolutely massive piece of -"
my friend tugs me closer by the arm, whispering, "at least he's cute,"
"that is not the point!"
"i wouldn't have done it if he was ugly," he hisses.
i stare at him, the cogs turning in my head until it finally clicked, "you did this on purpose?" my voice goes up a pitch.
"in my defense, you were super into this guy when you first saw him in one of your NEWTS classes years ago, right?" he lifts his arms to protect himself from the barrage of blows i was about to rain down on him, "you were devastated when you didn't find him anywhere after!"
barty clears his throat and my cheeks warm when i thought he heard our conversation.
"nothing has to happen," barty raises his hands in surrender when i turn to face him, "i can walk you to your dorm and we can call it all even love,"
"i doubt it'll be that easy," i say uncertainly, watching the crowd around us disperse to rejoining the rest of the party.
barty's eyebrow quirks up with the corner of his lips, "don'tcha trust me?"
i make a face that makes him laugh, meeting his eyes head-on before i look away, "we've only just met," i shrug weakly, "can you really blame me for being apprehensive?"
"i suppose i can't blame you," he mimics my shrug and i let a small smile form on my lip.
"aha!" the man laughs triumphantly, "i made you smile,"
"i could have been smiling at anything, there's a lot of stimuli around here, the music, the booze -"
"or you could have just been even slightly amused by me," he interjects.
neither confirming nor denying his statement, i look around to look for my friend so we could both get back to the dorm but the sneaky son of a you-know-what had slipped away while i was distracted.
barty must have noticed how i was looking around because he laughed, "he tapped out when we were talking," he muses, "your friend is one sly bastard,"
"he is," i fume, "starting battles he leaves me to fight -" i give up on looking at him, staring at my fingers as they drum on the table and i sigh, my head drooping before i look up at barty again.
i tell him my name, extending my hand, "barty," i say when his hand envelopes mine, his name rolling off my tongue smoothly, "i hope it isn't too late to take you up on your offer?"
"you mean the condition you were forced into?"
"i'm trying to loosen up here," i grumble, pouting for a split second until i spotted his smirk.
he kisses the back of my hand, "i'll protect you from the dark hallways love, don't worry,"

Hi! I just discovered your blog and it’s wonderful! Your art is great, and it’s impressive how you’ve improved since the start of this blog!
Long live Zutara nation! 💙❤️ Wish you good luck creating and a lot of feedback, you deserve all the best!!
May I ask about your story of falling in love with Zutara? Did you ship them as soon as while watching ATLA for the first time, or did it take time to realise how awesome they were? Maybe some creators from the fandom were the ones who showed you the beauty of Zutara?
And the second question: what are some of your Zutara head canons? You probably have hundreds of them, so feel free to provide only the favourite ones!
That’s all for now, have a good day! 🫶✨
Hiii, thank you so much! 😊 I've been working hard to improve my drawing skills, and I'm glad to hear that the progress is noticeable✨️
I fell in love with Zutara when I was a kid and watched Avatar for the first time. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when I saw the kiss between Aang and Katara in the final episode🥲. I had hoped that she would end up with Zuko until the very end. Of course, I've watched Avatar another 100 times since then, but that's okay. Later, I started seeing Zutara fan art on Pinterest, and I really enjoyed looking at them. About two years ago, I bought a tablet with a stylus just so I could draw on it. Honestly, at first, I was drawing myself and Zuko together, trying to insert myself into the story—whoever says they didn't have a crush on Zuko as a kid is lying! 😂
One day at school, I was drawing some human figures and thought, "Hey, this could be a Zutara fan art." When I finished it, I debated whether or not to post it on Tumblr, which I had installed just to look at Zutara fan art. So, I uploaded my first piece, not expecting even 20 likes, but the Zutara fans really liked it. From then on, I started drawing almost every day at school and posting my works and ideas.🫶
My favorite Zutara headcanons, even though there are hundreds of them, are:
• The Fire Nation Ambassador- if Katara had stayed true to herself, she would have become a powerful politician, serving as an ambassador for both the Fire Nation and the Water Tribe, dedicated to maintaining peace across the world. Naturally, she would have grown closer to Zuko and they would fall in love❤️🔥 .
• The Fire Lady Katara- just imagine if Katara and Zuko had ended up together—I think the show would have ended with Zuko's coronation and him proposing to Katara with a necklace, or maybe even their wedding where Katara is crowned as the Fire Lady🔥.
• Love After the Agni Kai - Imagine the Agni Kai is over, and while Katara is healing Zuko, he confesses the feelings he has long kept hidden inside. He declares his love for her, and she admits that she feels the same. And they are kissing💋.
• Love Without War - Imagine if the Fire Nation never declared war and peace prevailed. Avatar Aang's era has passed, and a new Avatar is born—Katara from the Water Tribe. While traveling the world, the time comes for her to learn firebending, and she is assigned a talented young prince, Zuko, as her teacher. They fall in love, and the rest is history💞. (This is my idea, and it’s for the next drawing that you’ll soon see on my profile)
I'll get back to regular drawing in two weeks as soon as I return from vacation and start my final year of high school. I have a thousand ideas for new pieces, and I hope you all will enjoy them! 💙❤️

Ikemen Villains - Ellis Twilight
These translations are not intended as a replacement for the game. Please support Cybird by buying their stories. Expect grammatical errors. Not 100% accurate.
Love and happiness only become eternal when they come to an end.
Kate: "Will you join us and make your love eternal?"
Ellis: "What's this?"
Ellis and I were enjoying a new confiture from a bakery he recommended when a pamphlet was suddenly presented to us.

Victor: "Basically, it's a pamphlet urging people to join a new organization called Amour."
Victor: "I heard that it has become a secret craze among lovers in London."
Kate: "I've never heard about it before."
It sounded like a romantic claim, but it kinda screamed fishy.
Ellis: "Are you talking about the people who went there and never came back?"
Victor: "I'm surprised you know that, Ellis. You really are on top when it comes to rumors."
Kate: "Wait. They never came back?"
Victor: "That's right. The couples who went to the ceremony to make their love eternal have gone missing."
Victor: "Even those who didn't elope are missing."
Victor: "They were most likely murdered at the height of their happiness."
Kate: "Why?"
Victor: "To make their love eternal."

Ellis: "............."
Victor: "The building is on private land owned by a noble family, so the police can't go in without hard evidence."
Victor: "It's now our responsibility to expose the truth and bring evil to justice. That's why I want you, Kate, and someone else to go there and have a wedding."
Kate: "What? A wedding?
Victor: "You can't enter the organization's facilities unless you're getting married."
Victor: "In short, I want you guys to go undercover. Her Majesty has given this order."
(Going undercover in a dangerous organization and getting married to one of the crown members?)
I looked over the pamphlet one more time, worried.
Kate: "It says here that only those who truly love each other and have passed a screening process can make their love eternal."
Victor: "Looks like you need to be recognized as lovers inside Amour's facility."
Ellis: "I'll do it."
Kate: "What?"
Ellis: "I want to marry you and make you happy."
(He knows we're going undercover, right?)
The way he said it sounded like a real proposal, and I had to reason myself out of the misunderstanding.
(I'm pretty sure Ellis wouldn't go too far.)
(Unless I ask him to do so.)

Ellis: "Can't I?"
Kate: "You can. Ellis, I look forward to working with you."
Ellis: "Mmm, likewise."
Victor: "I'm counting on you guys. Oh, but Jude's gonna get mad again."
Ellis: "Don't worry. I'll finish a week's worth of work today."
(He's efficient.)
Thus, Ellis and I were going to get married.
The sun went down while I was thinking about the undercover work.
(I guess this is all the stuff I need.)
I was getting my stuff ready for the overnight mission when I suddenly heard a knock.
Kate: "Yes?"
I opened the door, and there he stood.
Ellis: "Good evening."
He smiled as he said this, holding a cup of warm milk.
Ellis: "Here, you can have it if you like."

Kate: "We're not pretending to be lovers until tomorrow, you know?"
Ellis: "Yes, but I have to practice."
(It's certainly an important mission, and we can't afford to screw it up.)
Kate: "Right. Come on in."
He sat on the chair while I sat on the bed, drinking the hot milk together.
Kate: "It's delicious, warm, and comforting."
Ellis: "Yeah."
I could feel my body relaxing.
(Maybe I'm actually more nervous than I thought.)
(Maybe he noticed that and came to see me.)
Kate: "About the mission..."
Kate: "If they're really killing to make love last forever, then that's one hell of an organization."

Ellis: "I wonder about that."
Kate: "What?"
Ellis: "Love can only last forever when life ends."
Ellis: "That's why I'd rather stop time and make it eternal than have it broken."
Ellis: "If those lovers sincerely want that, then there's nothing wrong with making a place where that can happen."
"Two people in love will meet their death."
I thought about it and considered it wrong.
(I never got the idea that those lovers went there because they wanted to.)
Kate: "It's true that love comes in different forms for everyone."
Kate: "If it's something that both parties truly want, then maybe it's not right for others to say it's right or wrong."

Ellis: "..........."
Ellis: "You really are a nice person."
Kate: "Huh? No, you are."
Kate: "Thanks for the milk. I can sleep properly tonight."
Ellis: "Glad you liked it."
He smiled, and I couldn't help but sip the hot milk to cover up the pounding of my heart.
Thanks to Ellis, my fear of tomorrow completely subsided.
The next day, the mission finally began.
Layman: "Welcome to Amour!"
At the entrance of the church where "Amour" is based, we were greeted by a group of friendly-looking members of the church.
(I can't believe that these people might have possibly killed those couples.)
(It's kind of hard to believe.)
Layman: "First, tell us why you came to Amour."
Just then, Ellis hugged me tightly from behind.
Ellis: "I came here to make Kate mine forever."

Ellis: "Right?"
Kate: "Y-Yeah. I came here to be his forever."
Ellis: "............"
Layman: "You've passed! You may now enter."

I'm at the stage of pmdd where I feel awful and guilty because I've convinced myself my flatmates hate me I've been avoiding them and the kitchen like the plague except for sometimes when I pass them on the stairs so I'll say hi or when one of my flatmates visits my floor and I feel terrible they have gone out drinking 6 nights in a row and that got me pissed even tho it's none of my business and they did try to include me and ask if I'm going the first few days but then they stopped bc I literally have been staying in my room all day then I started leaving early and returning late to take away that stress and after went out with friends Friday i was so chill it was the two glasses of alcohol but I thought that maybe I could do this and could go down to the kitchen but it's so impossible and my mum calls me everyday what did you have for lunch and I've been saying so much rubbish like all that food I had bought hasn't been touched even tho I said I've been eating it because she told me earlier how when she left on Saturday she was so worried how would I fend for myself when I was literally pushed into the deep end but she said she felt so much better after I explained how I was doing because I just know it would be 100% worse if i told her the truth. Anyway as I was saying my bread went mouldy and the cheesecake I thought everyone finished went mouldy and I do think my flatmates are nice because this girl asked if forgot that I had some and tbh I want to make an effort but I'm just so damn tired on Saturday they did a pub crawl and I thought maybe that's the perfect time but no i messed that up because I just didn't text them and then today they had a movie night and again that'd be a good way to break the ice but no i messed that up again because I'm sill sitting in the library at 1:50 am. And I was going to go back to my room but there's people downstairs so what did I do I went back to the library and now they're all jsut wondering where I am all week because they haven't seen me in days I do know names but I can't match some of the faces because I struggle with that I don't like being teased like 3 days ago one kf them asked if I know their names this isn't primary school ITS ALL S FUCKING STUPID I haven't used to my voice often enough i was literally going to cry on Friday because that was the first time I had people around me that week and it was nice to hang out and I'm just sad because my best friend hasn't even talked with me that much and he lives opposite me so now I'm panicking that a friendship of 7 years has gone to waste even though it was perfectly fine before move in I've literally been talking to my other friends back home more than i have been talking to people here and I want to attend the daytime events even but then I end up changing my mind last second what if went to the other uni the friends I've made are so nice though I just wish I lived in their flat instead we ordered pizza and we played smash bros so it was fun they don't all live in the same building they're spread out I was worried i wouldn't have anyone to get a 2nd year house with but they probably will because they're in the same kind if situation as me and anyway I was going to throw out the food yesterday something is blocking me from going inside the kitchen I even was meant to do the laundry because I'm running out of clothes too wear on the daily but did I do that? No and at the start I did keep my room clean but now it's all messy again I have to psyche myself up to go to the bathroom even though it's right next to my door so yes it is getting bad again

“Ghost rider 1, ghost rider 1.” No matter how hard I tried still my hands seemed to hold a fucking popsicle slipping between them, it supposed I know what to do, but with the sounds inside of the plane combine with the bellowed voice of Riley make all my actions a complet mess.
“Y/N! EJECT.”
“Miss? Are you alright?” The taxi driver asks me as he moves my arm, I open my eyes and realize we are parking in front of my parents house; 19 months and the same nightmare come from time to time.
“Sorry, I’m ok, thanks…” I opened the door not before paying the 15 dollars from the airport to home. I walk through the little garden which my mom built along all these years. She starts it like some kind of stress reliever. She says every deployment or mission from me or my father it’s a new plant in the garden; in my father's case only he and God knows how many missions he had and for me 17 seems a nice number.
“My little butterfly.” My mom said, hugging me in the main door and dad appeared behind her.
“Sky.” The short name for <Skyhook> I get that call sign in the navy, when she splits away, she puts her hand on my cheek, and I smile with my lips pressed.
“It’s nice to have you here.” She says and pulls me inside of the house.
As the rest of the day passed without any uncomfortable talks or strange looks, until we finished the dinner and dad and I were doing the dishes.
“Maybe it is too soon.” The last month was the hardest since the accident and my dad knows that better than anyone; I left the plate in the cabinet, holding it a little bit more than normal.
“Someone returns in less than a month.” I stop but I force myself to continue. “It’s just a simple test, dad, let’s be honest, with the background I have, maybe I'll fail.” He grabs me by the shoulders and looks straight to my eyes.
“Y/N think it a little bit more, ok? Just a couple of weeks more.” I take a deep breath, and nod with my head, honestly that idea has been surrounding my head since the big week was scheduled.
-
3:46 hours and counting, is the time my watch the same I’ve been pushing my legs to the limit, but my mind is working at 100 per hour, tomorrow my first test begins, the navy just gave me a one more week, quote <We need you in the air, not in the ground.> I shake my head and continue running.
I was so immersed in my own thoughts when the F-18 dived off along with a little scream for the kids in the park that made my heart stop and flashbacks straight like gunshots in my mind.
“Mayday!” My fast breathing, the drops of sweat on my face. “I can’t stabilize…” My hands trying to hold the control, the sounds of the overworking in both engines.
I cover my ears trying to deafen the sounds and when I get to control myself, my watch marks a high rhythm in my heart, the beep helps me to recover, I blink and I see a little girl coming close to me. “Miss, are you alright?” She doesn’t stop liking her ice cream, making me laugh.
“Yeah, don’t worry, go somewhere fresh or your ice cream will melt faster.” My voice just murmured. It’s a hot Saturday and the summer has just begun, she nods and runs to sit on a bench covered by a tree.
I stop the timer and walk to my father’s car parking in front the main gate of the park, from time to time I lift my sight to the sky, I remember the first time I was in a plane, not a commercial plane, not a light aircraft, but a navy plane, the freedom I felt and the power I thought I had.
For the first time in almost 2 years, I realized that this week would change all I’ve work for more than 8 years, what terrifies me it’s know, in this moment I don’t even sure if continue it’s the right choice.
The next morning, I woke up around 5 am; the test begins at 08:00 hours at least I have to be in the base around 07:00, I get ready, and at the moment I get down I see my parents getting ready for breakfast.
“No, it’s not for you.” Dad says before I even complain, they stand up for my test just like they did when I was 6 years old and it was the first day of school.
“I have an important meeting; I must be ready.” He didn’t even lift his eyes from the newspaper, my mother shakes her head and offers me a cup of tea.
“Good morning by the way.” I greeted them, my mother giggled when I subtly pointed out his lack of greeting combined with the awful way of hiding his real intentions.
-
“SKY! Hi!” Jill screams when I enter the building. I have known Jill Green (Panther) since we entered the training at Top Gun, something you must know about Jill, she is a cheerful girl, in all the extension of the word.
“Hi, Jill. How are you?” She ran so she could walk along with me.
“Missing you, it’s not the same since you’re not here, but I heard you have already scheduled a test, isn't it amazing?” I smile, she always makes me smile.
“Well, let’s find out.”
My feet were tapping intensely when the vice admiral Beau Simpson opened the door and made me enter his office.
“Lieutenant, good to see you, please take a seat.” I obey and sit from time to time I apart my sight from him.
“Well, it’s time, like we already inform you, 1 month of constantly test on the ground and, of course, in the air, after the month, we evaluate you, if you pass, you’ll be deploy in a blink of an eye, if you’re not, well, we have a big problem.” I gulp, he put his hands over the desk. “Sky, you were born to be in the air, one of a kind, just focus…what happened years ago, you must let it go.” I turn my face. “It’s not easy but you’re a strong girl.” With my lack of answer, he stands and takes me to another room.
“The first proof it’s really treating, a psychological one, following for multiple physical ones, strategic, mechanicals and logical.” He stops at the front door and looks straight into my eyes. “Lieutenant, you have been out for more than a year, some tests will pull out the worst and the best from you, what you need to know is, nothing you’ll be going through it’s impossible and you always prove to us that.”
At the end of the first day, all seems to be go a little bit better than expect, with a good mood I was walking to the parking lot where my mother’s car is waiting; she insist at least I should take it for going to the base, she felt more comfortable if she knew I have to be focus to the road instead of the memories been here could bring me back; my steps froze in just a few meter of distance of the entrance, when I see all Dagger Team enter to the building, I meet some of them years ago, with someone I’m really close, but met them right now make my heart beating fast and be really nervous.
I resolve it with the most childish choice, I hide behind the car waiting for them to enter inside the building.
Great star Sky, hide and run.

Confessions in The Valley, Stardew valley heart event scenarios :)
Hellooo this is a colleciton of fics of how the stardew valley bachelor/etts would confess to you after reahcing full hearts. I think there needs to be more stradew fics:>. The first 3 chapters are old that i wrote like 2 years ago but I'll write the rest after positng these! Lemme know what bachelor you wanna see next<3
(sorry idk know how to format text posts very well)
What a long day jeez…
You'd just finished up another long day on the farm. You'd barely left the property all day. Too many fences to fix and crops to water, not to mention the amount of debris you had to clear. Damn, maybe that golden clock is worth it. You wiped the sweat from your brow as you walked down the stone path of town square. At least the sun setting has granted you some peace from the harsh summer heat. The pavement quickly turned to plush sand beneath your feet as you headed down from the mayor's front yard, your steps illuminated by the warm buzzing lamppost. Elliot makes good company on nights like these. Bright nights after tiring days and you could just sit and talk with him and Leah, or even willy, until exhaustion crashes over you like the waves surrounding the valley.
“Hey Farmer!!” Leah spots you from around the corner of Elliot's house and greets you cheerily. She's definitely drunk, holding a bottle of wine you gifted her and chuckling a little too loud. She's a dear friend of yours, you feel truly lucky to be so welcomed in this town especially by such warm faces. Leah wastes no time wrapping you in a hug dragging you to the bench where Elliot sits, staring at you both with a gentle smile.
“Evening Farmer,” Elliot gazes at you patting the open spot next to him allowing you and Leah to take a seat by his side. “Day treating you well I hope?”.
“Hey Elliot!” You beam at him scooting close with Leah at your left and Elliot on your right. Leah passes the open bottle to you, offering you a drink. “My day has been well, tiring but I managed” you chuckle taking a swig of the bitter fruit wine. Letting the alcohol warm your throat and flush your skin. It's simple to be here with them. You all laugh and catch up talking about your weeks for a couple hours. Leah's eyes light up under their drunken haze as she describes in detail her newest sculpture. Neither you nor Elliot can avoid giggling at her when she stumbles over her words, she's easily excitable especially when drunk.
“I haven't gotten much writing done this week,” Elliot interjects the smooth convo to share what's on his mind. “I don't really know why, but I feel…distracted I suppose. Normally writing is of the utmost importance in my mind. Though lately I haven't been able to think of much at all.” He stares at his feet with an embarrassed half smile. You peek at him quizzically wondering to yourself how much this has really been bothering him. Elliot takes his writing very seriously. It's like his life force and he's not easy on himself when success doesn't come to him.
Leah snakes her hand behind your back to lay on Elliot's shoulder, gently patting the silk button up covering his skin. “Aw Elliot c'mon you don't need to be so down about that,” She leans forward and exchanges a quick glance with him. You can't quite see it but in a span of two seconds they seem to have an entire conversation with their eyes. Leah looks at him slightly questioning and Elliot nods softly. “You're probably tired man, you'll get back into the swing you know that, Right Farmer?” She throws you into the conversation making you lose your focus on their silent debate of facial expressions.
“Y-yes of course, you're probably just burnt out Elliot. I mean you can't expect to have your creativity at 100 percent every day” You smile at him hoping to reassure his worries, it seems to work at least on the surface.
“Welp!” Leah stands up suddenly stretching her back and arms. “I'm headed home for the night, I have an important call tomorrow I really shouldn't be hung over for '' Leah giggles to herself at her comment before patting your head. “Take care, you two G'night ''.
“ Night Leah ” You and Elliot speak in unison as she saunters off, still cheery as ever. You hope she can get home without tripping in the dirt hehe. A silence falls over you two as you lean back with your palms on the hardwood, staring out at the sea. Bright lights decorate the blanket of night sky glaring off the ocean and casting a glow in your eyes. You can see Elliot staring at you from your peripheral. He does that a lot lately.
While you're in the library together gathering books to share with Penny and the kids, or while you're picking pomegranates from your tree for him. You'll catch him staring at you silently, though the warmth in his eyes says quite a lot. You normally don't pay it mind, thinking of it as just your wishful thinking or fantastical mind being corrupted by a beautiful set of emerald eyes. Right now however…as you gaze out at the ocean you can't help the warmth pooling in your gut as he stares at you like you're the brightest star he's ever seen.
“When you moved here, Farmer,” he breaks the silence suddenly, now fully facing you. “Were you scared? Or perhaps lonely?'' What a strange question you think as you giggle out loud leaning into his shoulder as laughter lights up your face. You couldn't help it, just such a brash question out of nowhere. “H-hey! Don't laugh jeez!” he blushes but laughs with you anyways. He doesn't embarrass easily, his pride keeps him quite sturdy.
“Sorry it just…seems like such a silly question coming from you of all people '' You look up into his eyes as you're against his shoulder. It crosses your mind that you may be too close right now but you can't bring yourself to care
“Why is that silly?’ He asks feigning offense while smiling at you
“Elliot you gave up a lot more than I did coming out here” Your hand falls into his lap as you straighten up a bit “You know better than anyone that it takes a little bravery to get to what makes you happy. So of course I was scared but I didn't really have much to lose to begin with. Coming here was my only chance to make things right so even if I was scared it couldn't be worse than where I already was.” You peer back at the ocean reflecting, like the stars, on how you felt coming here the first time. Unlike Elliot who risked his previous way of life, you really did have nothing. You barely made enough money to pay rent and certainly did not meet many friendly faces in the city.
“And as for loneliness…I was at first. I was nervous that such a small community wouldn't react well to outsiders and even still sometimes I wonder who really likes me.” You feel the air chill your skin and send shivers up your spine. Elliot takes notice and gently wraps his arm around your mid back. “But I have you don't I?” his eyes widened at your comment, only slightly. He stares down at you trying to detect the intent behind what you said. You watch his cheeks grow red and you don't think it's from the cold.
A smirk paints itself across his face, “Now look who's saying silly things.” He teases. Your face grows bright red and a wave of soberness suddenly crashes on you as you recoil from his touch, fixing your posture. He looks disappointed.
“W-well c'mon you know what I meant!” you stutter over your words as butterflies fill your tummy. Your hand still sits in his lap and he's taken hold of it now stroking the back of your hand with his thumb as he looks away. His usual composed nature, it's completely broken down right now. That slightly arrogant tone in his voice that carries his confident words and elegant speech patterns…none of that is here anymore. Instead he holds your hand tight and refuses to meet your eyes and he's blushing. A ridiculously bright shade of red. “Elliot I- what's-?”
“When i moved here,” He spoke again, squeaking out his words. “ I wasn't scared, or if I was , I didn't let myself feel it. I knew what I wanted. I wanted to turn against what everyone has pushed on me my whole life” his confidence was slowly seeping back into his words “That i needed to look for a real job, a real purpose. I should just find a wife and a good paying job and settle down. My family would constantly chastise me with that crap.” It felt unusual to hear him swear like that. You held his hand in yours tight as you watched a gloss come over his eyes as they watered.
“I couldn't ever shake the feeling that I was meant to create something. That my purpose was to have my words mean something to someone.” He peers at you again as his hair falls around his face framing his intense expression. “But lately, I've been distracted by my feelings. The more I adjust to life here, the more I wish to seek out temporary fixes for my own bitter feelings. Joys like friendship and learned skills and…love” Your eyes widen slightly shocked before lowering again in slight disappointment. Is he in love with someone? Is that why he's so bothered lately?.
“I didn't want to let myself get too close to others. For some reason I felt like if I didn't do this alone, if I didn't become successful on my own, that all my work would be undermined again. Or that other people would be a distraction from what i was meant to be doing.” His hand slides from your palm to your forearm as he turns to fully face you. You're leaned against his chest staring up at his eyes that are illuminated by the stars. He's gazing at you now and your heart throbs. What is he saying? “But my friends…and you have shown me lately that, if I were to try to do this on my own, not only would I fail, I'd sink into a lonely misery. Despair would destroy me and I'd become exactly what everyone expected of me. I know every great poet let their tragedy be the map to their creations, but my inspiration to continue. My inspiration to create and to smile and to learn… ” His unused hands take a gentle hold of your chin and his palms warm your cheek. “...Is you .”
“I've always loved the way you speak” you whisper now, leaning closer into his warm touch. Your heart sparks like a candle and the chilled air around you both blows the flame, steady and warm you remain under his gaze.
“I've always loved you.” his grip on your jaw tightens as he tugs you forward, pulling your lips onto his. He's soft and delicate. With how passionate and charismatic his words are normally, he's surprisingly demure in the way he holds onto you. Like he's scared to break you. His lips continue to move against yours and he tastes faintly of cherry wine and salt. Everything around you is brighter than the moon shining down on the valley. You reluctantly serrate looking upon his disheveled face with mirth in your eyes and a smile playing on your now, tingling lips. “I want you to be my muse, now and for as long as you'll have me” The sincerity in his confession leaves you trembling. It felt so romantic to have his words directed at you this way. Yet so raw to be sitting on the beach half drunk in the middle of the night like this.
You can't stop the giggle from leaving your mouth. You feel so relieved to know you are the fruits of his passion and desire. “I love you too, Elliot'' His smile grows exponentially and you pull him close to you again, Kissing him once more and already you feel the fondness of familiarity start to bloom. The moon shines down on the valley as a breeze blows through the trees lining the path where the town meets the coast. Distantly stars twinkle down on the sea and jellyfish glow beneath its surface. There's a soft light all around you and a brighter one burning inside you as Elliot keeps his lips against yours.
You reckon you'll stay down on the beach tonight, with Elliot, for as long as hell have you.
<3
I hope you enjoyed this ones my favorite :)

hello kai, loved the last fic, I feel like middle SMC would do that 100 procent irl with yeri, shuhua too if she didnt need to go home. the chaos would of been real for 2yeon
with a new request here, about baby momo wanting to have a play date with dubs and being really clingy to her and not wanting to be held or cuddly with anyone else and just being such a cutie while mommy 2yeon trying to get baby momo to nap in her crib but she doesn't want to because she wants to stay with dubs
Hello Chimp, I'm glad you enjoyed the last fic, I imagine that it would be peak chaos for 2yeon if it was SMC, Yeri, Mina and Shuhua all playing. Also this request is really nice.
Little!Momo. Cg!2yeon. Bigsis!Dahyun (basically.)
Warnings: none
Dubs and Momoring
Dahyun was sitting at the table eating kimbap when she felt a tug at her shirt, when she looked down she saw Momo holding onto her shirt. “Oh, hello Momo. How are you?” Dahyun questions, when Dahyun spoke Momo looks up at her, she grins widely and reaches her arms out to Dahyun. “P'ay?” Momo opens and closes her hands at Dahyun, to indicate that she wanted to be picked up.
“Yeah I'll play with you Momo.” Dahyun smiles and she picks up Momo, which makes the little squeal in happiness and kick her legs. Dahyun walked over to Momo's room so they could play together, she tried to place Momo on the floor but she refused to let go of Dahyun. “Okay, I guess you can sit on my lap whilst we play.”
Momo smiled widely and she stayed in Dahyun's arms whilst she sat down. Momo reached over to grab two toys and she handed one to Dahyun. Dahyun happily takes the toy and she plays with Momo, the regressed girl leans in closer and she hugs Dahyun whilst she continues to play. “Sissy, p'ay somethin’ else pwease?” Momo said whilst she pointed at her makeup bag. Dahyun nods her head and she grabs the bag and she passes it to Momo.
Momo shuffled in Dahyun's lap so she was facing her. “Are you going to do my makeup, Momoring?” Dahyun asks which Momo responded by giggling and nodding her head. Dahyun stays still whilst Momo gives her a new makeup look by giving her bright pink cheeks because of the amount of blush Momo placed on her finger as well as a lot of lipstick. When she finished, Momo smiled and she clapped a lot. “Woah dubu wook vewy pwetty!”
Dahyun grabbed her phone, turning on her camera to look at her new look. “Wow, that's amazing, Momo. Maybe you should do my makeup more often.” Dahyun responds, which makes Momo quickly wrap her arms around Dahyun and bury her head in the crook of Dahyun's neck. After a few minutes of the duo just hugging each other, they both heard Nayeon and Jeongyeon call out for lunch. “Well let's get going, Momoring.” Dahyun stands up, making sure that Momo stays in her arms since that's where the little wanted to be. When they reached the kitchen, Dahyun was able to make Momo sit next to her, in fact their chairs were basically together because of how close they were, the only thing that was different was that Momo was placed into a highchair instead due to the fact that she had regressed to a young age.
Lunchtime wasn't too bad, mainly because Momo loved eating her food, the only challenge was that she repeatedly leans over to Dahyun to smile at her and so she could get her attention, it didn't annoy Dahyun at all, she actually gave Momo the attention she wanted by doing things such as holding her hand or pulling funny faces which made Momo laugh loudly and hit the tray on the highchair. A few moments later, Momo and Dahyun were in the lounge, Dahyun had Momo sat in her lap once again whilst they watched Barbie despite it being time for Momo to have her nap.
Nayeon checked the time and she saw that Momo needed to have her nap so she wouldn't be cranky later. “Jeong, we need to get Momo now” Nayeon whispers, Jeongyeon nodded and she walked over to where Momo sat with Dahyun and she gently touched Momo's shoulder. “It's nap time, little one.” Jeongyeon says with a soft tone, in response, Momo shakes her head and she clings to Dahyun more.
“Come on bub, we know that you want to spend more time with Dahyun but you need to have your nap or else you'll have a temper tantrum.” Nayeon tries to reason with Momo whilst she rubs Momo's back, but it wasn't successful, Momo still clung onto Dahyun and she whined softly through her pacifier, it was clear that she wanted to stay awake and be with Dahyun more, she didn't care about her nap.
Dahyun grins sheepishly because she thought that she couldn't do anything in this situation, she wasn't upset with it or anything but she knew that Momo should probably listen to her mommies and go to sleep. Nayeon and Jeongyeon didn't attempt to pull Momo away from Dahyun because they were 100% sure that it would result in Momo freaking out and crying. Nayeon and Jeongyeon stood there in the middle of the room, wondering what they should do until an idea popped into Jeonyeon's head, so she quickly whispered it to Nayeon.
“What if Dahyun takes Momo instead of us since she's the only person that Momo is clinging onto today?” Nayeon instantly agreed with Jeongyeon and she went over to Dahyun and she whispered the idea to her. Dahyun nods her head and she stands up, keeping Momo in her arms. “Let's go Momoring, I'll even make sure that your mommy and mama reads you a story or sings a song to you before your nap. And I'll be right by your side while you sleep.” Dahyun promises to Momo who seemed to look up at her with the biggest pair of puppy eyes and reluctantly agree to the idea.
So with that in mind, Dahyun walks to Momo's room with Nayeon and Jeongyeon walking behind them. Despite the initial resistance Momo eventually laid down in her crib, Dahyun then sat on the floor next to the crib and she held Momo's hand to comfort her. Dahyun also made sure to make sure that every part of her deal was met by making Nayeon and Jeongyeon read a story to Momo, which they normally do anyway. This time they let Momo pick out the story called ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ as they both took turns reading the story to Momo, the regressed girl began to relax but she never let go of Dahyun's finger even when she fell asleep halfway through the story.
Hiiii, I hope everyone's day/evening/night is amazing. Also what do guys think about Twice's new album, based on the snippets?

Distant Sparks Part 6 (Miguel O'Hara x Reader)
Okay so I totally did not want to wait to write this until I got home so I wrote this in the middle of my algebra class LMAO I COULDN'T HELP IT. So, I totally got huge motivation out of nowhere and ngl I think this part is my favorite and I think it will be your favorite too, I hope you enjoy!
TW: SO MUCH FLUFF
wc: 1.2k (NOT PROOFREAD)
sidenote: there's mention of a food named chilaquiles. It is a traditional Mexican breakfast that I just got to try recently (mama cooked em) and I 100% recommend them even for people who don't like spice <3 alright I'll be quiet now, enjoy pookies <3
You arrived at Miguel’s place around midnight and looked through his kitchen for a snack. The pantries were full of Mexican spices, snack foods, and a couple boxes of cereal. As for the fridge? There was a bag of apples, a case of beer, some Jarritos and the freezer was no better. You placed your hands on your hips and sighed. You knew he didn’t come home very often but this was still a sad sight.
You gathered any ingredients you could find to make something for Miguel to heat up as leftovers. You worked for about an hour in the kitchen as the aroma of spices swirled through the air. You felt so calm and relaxed in his home and couldn’t remember the last time you had the chance to cook something. As you finished up the food you carefully transferred it into a tupperware container and used a sharpie to label it, “Miguel’s chilaquiles” you wrote the date underneath and also the date when it should be finished by or thrown out.
After putting the chilaquiles into the fridge to store, you went and cleaned yourself up in the bathroom. You spent the rest of the night cleaning up and finally sleeping. This had been the most peaceful you had ever felt.
—————
Miguel stood in front of his monitors, the soft yellow glow just barely illuminating his face. Miguel had lost track of what he was doing at least 3 times now and that frustrated him. No matter how hard he tried to focus his mind kept wandering to the thought of you, intrusive thoughts slipping into his mind imagining how peaceful you might look while sleeping.
Miguel grunted in annoyance at the intrusive thought and shook it from his mind as he sighed and looked into a screen on his far right. A video of his daughter played on the screen, no audio to accompany the bright smile on the little girl’s face. Miguel felt his heart sink at the thought of his late daughter and found his mind wandering to you again.
Maybe just tonight he would go home. Just to see how you were doing.
—————
You were snuggled comfortably under the covers of Miguel’s king sized bed as you slowly felt yourself slipping into a peaceful sleep. Just as you were about to pass out a click sounded and a quiet squeak echoed through the halls and you jolted awake, sitting straight up in bed. Someone had come in through the front door, surely no one would have the guts to break into Miguel’s house, he would rip them to pieces if he found out.
You subconsciously leaned closer to the bedroom door as the creaking of the floorboards echoed closer to the room. He sat stiff in bed until a shadow cast under the door across the floor and the door handle rustled quietly. You quickly laid back down and closed your eyes, pretending to be asleep. Whoever it was, maybe they would leave you alone if they thought you were asleep.
–––––——
As Miguel opened the bedroom door he saw you sprawled out on his bed and caught a smile forming on his lips. He quietly walked closer to you, kneeling by the side of the bed your face was facing toward. He whispered softly and you felt yourself hold your breath as you realized who it was.
“Hey… I’m home. Are you sleeping?”
Miguel questioned to see if you would answer.
You pretended to just be waking up out of a deep sleep, rubbing your eyes and blinking them slowly open, looking across the sheets at Miguel. This interaction felt… different. Yes, on one hand you were laying in his bed but Miguel had actually come home. And he had told you that he was home too. It almost made your heart skip a beat.
“I am now…”
You mumbled and he pursed his lips.
“Sorry if I woke you up… I was worried…”
His sentence catches you off guard. He was worried about you? That wasn’t like him.
“Worried? Are you sure you’re Miguel?” You carefully sit up and he watches you closely with his eyes and nods to you.
“I was watching videos of Gabriela and it made me think of you… I think… you remind me of her and my wife…”
The room is filled with silence after he shares that information with you. Is that why he had begun to spend more time around you at work? Moreover, you weren’t sure how to feel but it seemed like your body had already decided that for you as you felt your cheeks and ears heat up and your heart practically thumping out of your chest. Miguel could hear it through the silence. He’d always had great hearing since he had become spider-man.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable-”
You quickly intervene.
“No! I’m not uncomfortable! I just didn’t expect you to say that… it caught me off guard, that was really sweet of you…”
Miguel studies your face a while longer before looking down to the floor.
“There’s something about you that has been keeping you on my mind… no matter what I’m doing I can’t stay focused… I don’t know what it is…”
It takes you a moment to process what he said before realizing what those feelings typically mean.
Miguel O’Hara was falling for you.
Before thinking you blurted out your thoughts.
“Love-”
You quickly pause and his eyes shoot up to meet yours as he understands what you’re getting at. He thinks about it for a moment before nodding slowly, processing the things he’s been feeling and deciding that made the most sense.
“Yeah… I think you’re right…”
You gaze into his eyes, noting the mixture of red and brown swirling in them. Had you noticed that before? You notice that both of you seem to only have inches of distance between eachother as you continue to study his face.
Miguel knows he’s moving closer to you but he can’t seem to stop himself as he brings a hand carefully to hold your cheek. His hand is so big compared to you and it intrigues him. Before he knew it his face was just centimeters away from yours. He seemed to be looking deep into your eyes for so much as a hint of permission to go further. You give him a small nod and he locks his lips into yours, his hand wandering to the back of your head, your hair loosely tangled around his fingers.
Miguel shifts himself, keeping his lips locked onto yours as he carefully makes room to get in bed next to you. As he lays next to you, you pull your lips away to breathe and you give him a dazed expression. He smiles at how boggled you look.
“Is that a confession…?”
You breathe the words out almost inaudibly and he places a gentle kiss on your lips in response.
“Yeah… I suppose so…”
Miguel pushed his face into the crook of your neck and breathes in your scent, his body visibly relaxing as he does so, his eyes closed and his breathing slowing. You realize that he’s falling asleep and gently pet his head with a small smile, placing a gentle kiss to his head and closing your eyes aswell, falling asleep with your arms wrapped around him.
It couldn’t get better than this.

Words: ~8,000
Warnings: Please read with caution as this contains adult themes & situations (though nothing explicit). Also swearing and allusions to mental illness, dissociation and depression symptoms especially. Man this feels like the end of a drug commercial. Enjoy!
AN: I realized how long it'd been since I updated Chasing Tails and was feeling really bad about it. I'm so sorry, guys! I've just been really busy! I don't have time to get Chapter 5 up tonight, but I do have the time to share this Gruvia piece I wrote a while ago as a karmic sort of apology.
With that in mind, this is a bit of a rough, long one-shot. It comes from a chapter in a larger, mostly Nalu-focused fic which I may or may not ever actually finish writing. Sooo it's not even really a one-shot so much as it's, like, a segment of a chapter from one. I also barely had time to clean it up ever so slightly.
However, I thought Gruvia fans would appreciate anyway. Maybe one day, I'll write the whole thing because I honestly think it could be a story, or maybe a series of drabbles? This is all you kids get for now, though, lol. no fucks given (just kidding this will keep me up nights.)

Ignoring Natsu's whining about still being motion sick from beside him, Gray buried his hands in his pockets and let his eyes engage in their favorite past-time: roaming the curves of the blue-haired woman walking in front of him.
Him and Juvia had officially been together for over half a year, but his eyes still snagged on the same places they always had. The sway of her blue hair, now long enough to partly obscure the pinch of her waist and flare of her hips with each swish. The pretty, cute flush that lived on her cheeks as she listened attentively to Erza, who was chattering about a famous desert shop in the area. The way shadow and light shifted over the curve of her rear. And—forever his most favorite—the exposed skin of her legs. Long, toned, moon white...and fucking perfect.
Gray felt his cheeks heat, but couldn't find it in himself to drag his eyes away. The solidness and length of their relationship did absolutely nothing to diminish the novelty of her beauty, like he might once have feared it would. Instead, it hypnotized him more surely than ever. Noticing all the men drooling over her figure as they walked past, Gray was aware of the sting of possessiveness and annoyance which rose in his chest, but was also easily able to ignore it.
He was as comfortable as any guy with a stunning girlfriend could be in his own jealousy, these days. More shockingly, so was Juvia, a fact that was plain from the way she shot only perfunctory glares at the women eyeing him and whispering to each other as they passed.
As he stared at her back, his lips quirked ever so slightly. It had taken time, tears, and work—more work than he could ever have anticipated—to get to this point in their relationship. But work had never been more worth it.
His mind wandered to reminiscence. To where it had all started, when they had started, after the 100-Year Quest had ended and he'd finally—with Lucy, Levy, and Erza's help—managed to ask Juvia to be his girlfriend.
"Not just 'yours'," Levy had insisted, explaining that phrasing would confuse her. "Your girlfriend."
He'd actually fought them on it. Not really because he had a problem with commitment anymore (okay, it was a little embarrassing, but not too much) but because the words "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" felt ridiculous, considering everything they'd been through. How deeply he cared about her. For crying out loud, they'd tried to kill themselves for each other. He'd kill for her, die for her, and—most importantly—he would live for her. Beyond making his ears feel like they were going to melt off, the word "girlfriend" felt trite.
But when Lucy and Levy demanded to know if that meant he was going to propose, he'd balked. Actually, having the m-word shoved right up against his nose kind of made his soul flee his body. As ready as he was for a romantic relationship, he wanted to go through the actual experience of having one. Like, with all the steps involved. In order. He was at the point in his life that he wanted it more than anything.
More importantly, he wanted to give Juvia that experience. He was determined to do right by her.
With the girls' reality check, and the point they'd made that ambiguity might make Juvia jump to the wrong conclusion or even hurt her, they'd convinced him. He'd been committed to making his long-awaited confession as special for Juvia as possible, complete with saying any embarrassing words she wanted to hear.
Gray still hadn't felt worthy of the love she gave him. He still struggled to believe he was a man who could protect her. But after everything he'd been through during the 100-Year-Quest, seeing how much she'd missed him the whole time, and his talk with Juvina-sama, he'd understood it was completely unfair to ask Juvia to wait for him to decide he was worthy enough to love her openly. He also wasn't above admitting that Juvina-sama's suggestion that she wouldn't wait forever had disquieted some irrational part of him enough to make him antsy, impatient to make absolutely sure they were exclusive.
He'd been completely flustered throughout his confession, but known it had gone as right as it could. Lucy, Levy, and Erza—who thought they'd been slick, hiding in a nearby bush to watch him confess—had agreed. (Lucy had annoyed him to no end by teasing him over how "adorable" he'd been.)
And yet...Juvia's response hadn't been quite what Gray hoped. Lucy hadn't noticed it, but he had. He didn't know exactly when it had happened, but at some point, he'd learned to read the Water Mage like an open book. For how sincere a person she was—a trait he was all too familiar with—Juvia could also be surprising, even mysterious. As transient as water, with hidden depths you'd never know a thing about unless you were willing to dive beneath the surface.
When Gray confessed, he'd braced himself for joyous screaming. He'd planned to freeze a literal flood of tears before it could wash them both away. He'd been prepared to get a concussion from how hard she'd glomp him in the street. But while she had said yes, demurely accepted the roses, and hugged him plenty tight...her response had been subdued. In hindsight, he could see the pattern her reaction fit: the way her gaze had dropped to the street despite her happy flush, the hesitant, nervous gleam in her eyes, the limited verbal response.
The only times she'd ever acted that way had been when he actually reciprocated some of her affection. When he'd promised to give her a straight answer, after he defeated END. When he'd given her a one-armed hug and said he was glad her "body" was safe, after he'd saved her from that wood bastard.
Something had been wrong. But when the girls who'd spied on him only gushed afterwards, not seeming to have noticed anything off, he'd shrugged off his concerns, assuming it was his own lack of romantic literacy. He'd been nervous, but also really excited to learn.
But as their relationship officially began...it quickly became obvious that there was a problem, and that a one-sided approach to fixing it just wasn't going to cut it.
Juvia had always been prone to mood swings severe enough to make Gray's head spin, but as soon as they started dating, her mood seemed to sink. He'd try to ask her about it only for her to put on an obviously fake, cheery front and insist she was fine.
At first, he was sure it must be his fault. He'd had no idea what he was doing wrong. At that point, the guilt he felt for not taking Juvia's feelings seriously for so long, for abandoning her in Amefurashi Village, and for nearly letting her die in an attempt to save him had been taking a serious toll on him. The guilt had sometimes left him ragged. Every time she seemed down, he beat himself up and tried to do better. Talking, dates, spending time together (even when it meant ditching missions he really wanted to go on with the team), accepting her gifts and acting happy about them (no matter how much they creeped him out).
But the more he'd tried to make up for everything, the worse it seemed to get. He watched her frustration rise as he tried to be more openly affectionate, her denials that she was frustrated getting louder. More and more, she gave, but when he gave back, she'd look ready to explode or burst into tears.
What had made everything come to a head was the sex. A surprise in itself. For all the ways their relationship had suffered, sex had never been one of them. It'd started back in the cabin they shared in Amefurashi Village. From the first night they'd moved in together, Juvia had not-so-surprisingly tried to edge her way into Gray's bed constantly. She'd use excuses of cold weather, make puppy eyes, and sew nauseatingly pink coupley bed sheets to try to lure him (when, he still had no idea).
Meanwhile, he struggled more and more to pretend he didn't find (most of) her antics adorable. Not to mention incredibly tempting. Things escalated to where he'd feel his excitement rising towards the end of their daily training sessions, to the point his body became conditioned to react when he saw the damn sun set.
He also felt increasing dread at the notion of having to turn Juvia down—and for having to sneak out in the middle of every night to "take care" of the problem she always left him with (cold showers didn't exactly work for an Ice Wizard).
Finally, one night, she'd pouted and whined that she was sore from training and begged for a massage. Gray didn't know if it was the fact she was asking him for something instead of offering; the unbelievably cute, sparkly-eyed, hopeful glances she kept sneaking at him; or the fact he could tell she actually was sore from the way her face would pinch as she attempted to stretch provocatively in front of him, but his resolve had shattered.
Before he could think and without a word, he'd lifted his covers and held her gaze, not bothering to hide the dark promise in his eyes.
Her reaction had been priceless. He'd never forget it.
His acceptance seemed to knock the breath straight out of her. Her eyes had gone round as saucers, staring into his eyes like she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her cheeks had darkened. She'd stood stunned for so long that he'd started to get nervous, wondering if she'd only been being playful all this time, not really meaning to come on to him or maybe not expecting him to ever accept. But just as he'd been trying to field the disappointment sinking his heart and trying to think of how to promise he wouldn't do anything she didn't want, she'd hesitantly approached the bed, trembling.
After giving her the massage she'd asked for, he'd rewarded her bravery three times over.
After that, for the very first time, the dynamic of their relationship shifted in one, important way—the one which would force him to finally confront his own heart:
In terms of their physical relationship, he became the more dominant one. In this one aspect of their shared life, he chased. Gray flustered Juvia. He hadn't been able to get enough. What had once been a relentless, one-sided pursuit (one where she had, admittedly, been gaining on him without his notice) became a dance which had addicted him before he knew it.
The notion of reciprocating her feelings had once had him running for the hills. So it had been a huge shock to learn just how much he liked it.
She was so obviously happy and disbelieving that first time he slipped her clothes off in the moonlit dark, cursing over her beauty. Utterly awestruck when he'd seen to her pleasure (twice, he still liked to remember proudly) before even considering his own. Sex was the first time he heard her speak in the first-person, the first time she said his name without adding "-sama" (since that battle in the rain, anyway.)
It was when he lost himself in her soft skin, her passion, and her pleasure that some part of him was able to accept the truth she'd had the grace to surrender to from the very beginning.
The shift in their sex life was also when he'd started to twig something wasn't right between them. After Alvarez was when he'd started it back up. His plan had been to wait until he was able to reciprocate her feelings verbally, like he'd promised, but almost losing her had broken him in a way some part of him would never truly recover from. Between that and his final, full acceptance of his own feelings, there'd been no restraining himself. He'd come onto her with all the subtlety of a freight train the second they were alone.
Even then, something hadn't been quite right. She hadn't been herself, quiet enough that—even as...compromised as his critical thinking skills had been, at the time, and even in his heightened emotional state—he'd noticed. He'd pulled back and asked if she was okay, but when her response had simply been to drag him back in for a kiss that made his knees weak, he'd taken it as a yes and matched her passion enthusiastically.
She kept staying quiet in bed. It bothered the hell out of him, and he badgered her about it more than once, but would ultimately let it go when she insisted she was fine. In his defense, there had been a lot of reasons she could've become subdued. They had just fought a war. They were all exhausted from fixing the town and working to build peace in Fiore.
But after the 100-Year Quest and after his confession, she got even weirder. He noticed it all the time, in every aspect of their relationship, but it was especially noticeable in bed, when they were so close to each other, both completely vulnerable.
When they'd cohabitated, he'd almost always been the one to start something. He'd enjoyed that. He'd even (hell, especially) enjoyed the way she'd flirt, pretend to be oblivious to his advances, pout and blush and make him impress her, coax him to the brink of losing his mind before finally caving to both of their desires. Those times where he went from prey to predator had balanced their entire relationship, satisfying both of them.
Gray wasn't some slimeball who needed sex, but he did need some balance in their dynamic. The private, physical side of their relationship was just where it'd happened to play out. It could've played out anywhere in their relationship, if they were off sex for a while for whatever reason.
But as soon as they became official, it became clear she'd fight tooth and nail to make sure that never happened.
She came onto him. Every. Single. Time. He'd been a little surprised, but happy enough. At first. But as he pushed her to talk to him harder and she denied louder, he'd started to guess that something was genuinely, really wrong.
She didn't speak in the first-person when they were intimate, any more. She didn't drop the "-sama." Even worse, he started to suspect she was seducing him even when she wasn't really in the mood. Almost like she felt like she had to.
It had been one such time when he finally flipped his shit. Even now, walking behind her and appreciating her curves, the memory made his mood falter a little.
He regretted how he'd handled things. It shamed him to remember how he'd all but shoved her off him and refused to do anything else with her until she was ready to tell him whatever the hell was going on inside that crazy, watery head of hers. It was an ultimatum. A cruelly-put one, at that. He hadn't realized just how hurt and angry he was until the words flew out of his mouth.
Juvia had opened up, alright.
In fact, she'd exploded.
They'd screamed at each other, horrible things Gray could hardly stand to repeat even in his own head. She'd demanded that he quit wasting both their time and leave her again, like they both knew he would. He'd asked how stupid she could be to think he'd do that, when he was obviously dedicated enough to put up with her psycho stalker gifts. She'd retorted that her "psycho stalker gifts" didn't seem to have any affect on his libido. He'd yelled that she was the one jumping his bones, ever since he'd asked her out. She'd said that was because she actually cared about his happiness, implying that was something he'd never understand.
She'd ended the black, ugly fight with four hoarse words that ripped his heart out of his chest: "This is over, Gray-sama!"
His apartment door had slammed behind her.
He'd been too shocked and devastated to do anything but watch her go, not even managing to stagger to the door and chase after her until she was long-gone. Black curse power had swirled across his skin as he pelted to the guild, growling in frustration when he didn't find her there. Then he'd run all the way to the female dorms at Fairy Hills only to be deterred by Erza, who met him at the gate. She hadn't known anything about his and Juvia's fight, but she'd been drawn by his yelling.
His older sister figure had knocked him out "for his own good."
The next afternoon, Gray had woken up in his own bed. Not bothering to see if he was dressed (it would turn out he wasn't) he'd booked straight to the guild only to be devastated by the news that Juvia had taken a long-term S-class quest just that morning, news which was delivered by a sympathetic Mira.
Sure that it was over, that he'd ruined everything, he'd drunk himself sick—then kept drinking, swinging fists at anyone and everyone who tried to console him until, finally, in the wee hours of the next morning, Gajeel managed to knock him out of it.
The hostility, Gray had expected. Gajeel was Juvia's best friend; of course he was angry to learn that Gray had done something to upset her so much, she'd left for a Quest that could take months or even years to finish without so much as a word to Gajeel or any of their other comrades.
What did surprise Gray was the understanding Gajeel eventually showed.
Gray got his ass knocked flat by the Iron Dragon Slayer. From his back on the ground, he started to spit out what happened. With each word, the larger man had visibly calmed. After enough had come out, he'd awkwardly helped Gray to his feet (his own, gruff brand of apology.) He'd helped Gray sober up, then he'd given him a pep talk.
He'd refused to explain his own guesses as to what was going on with Juvia, insisting "who knows what goes on in that water witch's head." But he'd also insisted that whatever was going on, it for damn sure wasn't what Gray thought, which was that he'd hurt her too badly for her to love him anymore.
"She's obsessed with you," the man had said, scowling in disgust. "She's always been obsessed with you. She's way too stubborn to let it go that easy. It's annoying."
By six AM, Gajeel Redfox—of all people—had talked Gray into chasing after the love of his life. He'd even used his Iron Magic to create a lockpick which got them into the archive room, where they'd found Mira's records...and Juvia's location.
He'd barely had the time to register the irony of her quest's location before he was gone, shooting Gajeel a gruff "thanks" over his shoulder and running home to pack.
It'd been raining when he finally walked into Amefurashi Village.
He hadn't consciously known where to start looking when he arrived, but his feet—following some combination of muscle memory and the fate he'd fought for so long—had carried him to the place where the word "home" had changed for him: the cabin he and Juvia had shared. Where they'd grown together. Taken care of each other.
Where he'd left her. Hurt her. Even if most of the reason to do so was because he wanted to protect her, he couldn't stop hating himself for that.
She was standing outside the place, drenched and shivering, when he got there. As if sensing his arrival as surely as he'd known where to find her, Juvia had turned to look at Gray with eyes that were glassy above flushed cheeks. She'd wavered on her feet.
As soon as she'd whispered his name, she'd toppled. Gray's bag had landed in a puddle with a splashy thunk. He'd lunged to catch her like his life depended on it.
Shouting her name had earned him no response, but pressing the back of his hand to her forehead had been enough to convince him that she had a seriously high fever.
Strangely, as worried as he'd been about her, he hadn't even thought to bring her back to Wendy or seek a nearer healer. In hindsight, he was sure that deep down, he'd realized it would do no good; she wasn't physically ill, but heartsick, just as he was. He'd felt lower than the mud gathering around his boots.
He'd been surprised to discover that he had to break into their old home, and rapidly deduced that Juvia hadn't been staying at their old cabin even though she'd been standing outside of it, both from that fact and the fact that none of her stuff was there.
As soon as he lay her in the bed which had once been his before becoming theirs, she'd begun shivering. For the first time in his life, Gray cursed that he was an Ice Wizard instead of a Fire Wizard.
He'd run outside, grabbed his bag, then come back in—only to curse again when he unclasped the bag only to discover that all its contents were soaked. Thinking quickly, he'd stripped his wet clothes, then hers. He'd climbed into bed with her.
"'M sorry, Gray-sama..." she'd slurred her sleep. "Juvia's so sorry...Juvia had to...I just had to..."
He'd shushed her, rubbing her arms to try to warm her up. "It's okay, Juvia. I know, my love. It's okay..."
He'd kept holding her and whispering soft comfort to her until she'd finally stopped shivering, at which point his frantic worry had abated enough that he could fully admit to himself how good it felt to have her in his arms, her skin against his. How warm she was. How perfectly she fit against him. How much he missed her. She was right there, as close as another person could ever be to him. Yet with how things had been between them lately and how lost she was to fever, he'd never felt further away.
Apparently, he'd fallen asleep at some point, because when he awoke, it was to the rising sun blazing at him from the center of the cabin window. Ignoring his body's reaction to waking up in the arms of the very naked, beautiful woman he happened to be in love with, Gray had instantly dropped his hand to Juvia's forehead, sighing in relief when it became clear her fever had reduced. She wasn't better, but she was getting there.
Quickly figuring out what needed done, he'd dropped a tender kiss to her warm forehead, murmuring a threat against her sweaty hairline: "You'd better not even think of running away again, crazy woman. We are going to talk when I get back."
Gray had dressed, glanced back, and left. He'd met up with he client—a rich and unfortunately good-looking asshole about Gray's age who was way too disappointed Juvia, herself, wasn't the one who'd shown up. Through gritted teeth, Gray informed the bastard it would be a couple days before he and his partner (he was sure to emphasize those words several times) would be able to begin investigating the dark guild threatening the area, as she'd fallen ill.
It annoyed him to no end that the creep seemed genuinely concerned about this, trying to insert himself, demand to see her, and attempting to coax Gray into revealing her location (Gray couldn't help the pleasure and hope which rose in his chest, when he learned she hadn't told this guy wherever it was she was staying; obviously, she'd had no interest in sharing that information.)
The client had thrown a rich boy tantrum when Gray refused to tell him anything, but ultimately let him go when Gray promised Juvia would be there in a couple days (not bothering to mention that he would absolutely be there, too.)
He'd gone to pick up medicine and food. He'd grabbed all the ingredients he could remember for something hearty, mild, and delicious she used to make him when they lived together, a chicken stew that tasted like something he could remember from childhood. Those ingredients, medicine, ginger tea...anything he could think of that might help her feel better, he purchased, barely noting price.
Juvia had been waiting on the porch wrapped only in a blanket when he returned, flushed with both fever and anger.
They'd both been pissed at each other. While Gray locked horns with Juvia's amorous creep of a client, she had apparently been discovered by the landlord who owned their old cabin and only barely managed to talk him out of his anger, ultimately having to pay double their old monthly rent to keep him from calling the authorities—all while wrapped only in a blanket.
A brief yelling match had ensued. It ended when Juvia began coughing rather violently, Gray dropping his groceries in the mud to run to her. Even as she insisted she was fine, he'd ushered her into the cabin, forcing her to sit before he went back out to grab the food he'd bought.
Her face had gone funny when he began grouchily unloading chicken, rice, broth, veggies, and herbs. When he (somewhat defensively) asked what the hell she was staring at, she'd haltingly asked if he'd bought all of that for her. Exasperated, he'd told her of course he had, she'd had him worried sick.
The groceries had been abandoned when she burst into tears.
It had taken several minutes of heart-wrenching sobs on Juvia's part and coaxing on Gray's for the conversation to actually begin.
During their ugly fight in his apartment, she'd exploded.
Here, in the lonely home they'd once shared, she imploded.
While the groceries thawed and dripped on the kitchen counter, Juvia sobbed the whole, messy, painful truth into his chest. She told him everything. She told him how, deep down, she'd always known she wasn't worthy of having her love reciprocated by him. It had been true from the moment they'd met, when she'd been part of Phantom Lord, but remained true no matter how long she'd been at Fairy Tail. That was how she'd put it: "I always knew I wasn't worthy of Gray-sama's love." Not only because of her past, but because of how annoying she was. How gloomy. How creepy and obnoxious.
Gray hadn't even had time to express his horror at the fact she thought those things before she'd been plowing on, her tears only getting thicker and her words only making his heart sink lower.
She said knowing she didn't deserve his love had turned to knowing she didn't deserve to love him at all, when she'd killed Keyes to free Gray's father from his undead life. But even though "Gray-sama had been wonderful enough to forgive Juvia," she'd continued to hate herself, deep down.
She told him that sharing a life in the cabin they were currently in had, for her, been the sweetest kind of torture. That she'd never been so happy—and never felt more undeserving. For the first time, she told him that she'd only had one lover before Gray, some piece of shit named "Bora" who'd never cared about her or her pleasure. Gray had been nothing like him, attentive, caring, and as invested in her pleasure as he was in his own. At first, feeling so cared for had been as overwhelming as it was amazing, but by the time Gray started to pull away from her for his mission, the overwhelmed feelings had slowly begun to fade, letting her forget everything but the happiness she felt with him.
Juvia told him that the day he abandoned her to infiltrate Avatar, everything which she'd started to believe could feel right began to feel wrong, and everything which had felt wrong began to feel right. She'd never felt she deserved to be loved by Gray the way she loved him. Being left by him had, in a horrible way, made her feel like the world was how it was supposed to be.
But it had also ripped her apart.
It had destroyed any confidence she'd begun to gain in herself.
She told him that she resented being abandoned. Resented not being told about his mission to infiltrate a Dark Guild, not just because of their relationship, but because she had once been in a Dark Guild, and could potentially have helped his and Erza's Mission. She'd not only felt betrayed on a personal level, but disrespected as a Mage with no small amount of skill and experience.
It was a side to the issue which he had, shameflly, never considered.
He was mortified when she'd finally let herself chastise him for this—especially when he'd tried to defend himself by bringing up details of his mission only to be instantly struck down and ripped apart by someone who was, in fact, very obviously more knowledgeable about the inner workings of Dark Guilds than either he or Erza ever had been. Hell, Juvia could probably have run the mission almost as well as Jellal had.
For the first time, he saw just how beneficial it would have been to have her on board, despite Erza urging him not to get her involved. He should've gone against her orders, asked forgiveness instead of permission. Over the course of that one conversation, it was clear that having her on board would have shortened the length of their mission by probably several months.
But worse than the benefits they'd missed out on, in infiltrating Avatar, worse than the fact that she resented him, was her admission that she hated herself for that resentment.
She'd apologized. So many times. Too many times to count. Each apology was another crack in Gray's heart. He'd tried to ask her to stop, but they'd just kept slipping out anyway. It was like she couldn't help it.
She'd told him that over time, as she got to know the other women in Fairy Tail—Lucy, Cana, and Levy—she'd realized just how unworthy she was of the care Gray held for even just his friends. She just hadn't been forced to confront her own lacking sense of self-worth...until he openly reciprocated her feelings.
She said that the second he confessed, part of her felt wrong. Like she'd donned someone else's skin—someone who was worth being loved by Gray. Her guilt, her knowledge that she wasn't worthy of him, her bitterness, her self-hatred...all of it had come rushing to the surface.
She told him that, as unworthy as she'd felt, she'd been too selfish to reject him. Too angry at the thought of him being with someone else. Her own selfishness made her feel even worse than before. She'd been determined to be worthy of him, and so she had sought to pay every ounce of love he gave her three times over. At least.
It hadn't made her feel any better. No matter how hard she tried to be sure to pay him back, every time Gray took her on a date or made love to her, it made her skin crawl, because she didn't deserve it. She didn't deserve his love, his affection, or even his attention. He deserved better, and she was nowhere close to deserving him. She never would be.
If there had been even one last, single sliver of a doubt as to how he felt about this woman, it died then and there. Nothing—not his own guilt, being screamed at, or being broken up with—nothing could hurt worse than being made aware of what a hard time she was having. Learning just how badly she'd been dissociating during all their most precious moments. How much pain she was in. How little she thought of herself. How deep her scars ran.
He'd have given anything to take her pain away. He'd have given anything to change it. Right then, he couldn't think of a single thing he wouldn't have done to make her see herself as he saw her: the energetic, caring, fierce Mage he'd come to know. The woman who always eclipsed everything else for just a second, the first time he saw her every day.
He'd wanted to tell her all that, and more. He wanted to apologize. He'd wanted to tell her how badly he missed her after he'd left her here, that this place had been home for him, too. He'd wanted to tell her how much she meant to him, that no day without her smile even felt real, but his voice had been stuck behind a lump of misery and all he'd been able to do, for a very long time, was lay in their bed and hold her while she cried the rest of it out. He wasn't too ashamed to admit he lost a couple tears in her hair, too.
Over the twilight of time it had taken for her sobs to turn hoarse, then to whimpers, then sniffles, guilt, emotional exhaustion, an anguish washed over Gray in their turn.
Until finally, he hardened all of those feelings into resolve.
"I'm really thankful that you're here. For always being beside me..."
Those were the words Gray had said to her before Alvarez, and he'd meant them. For years, Juvia had done nothing but be there for him. Even when he didn't want her there, she stayed right next to him, quietly piecing together his heart and his trust. It killed him that the woman who'd confronted him with her love, made him face down his own weakness, always thought of him, and helped him so much more than he could ever truly thank her for had been hiding so much of her own pain. He wished she would have told him any of this all the times he'd pushed and asked.
But he couldn't blame her for that. Maybe she hadn't opened up to him before then, but her mentions of her days in Phantom and of that shithead ex of hers had driven home, with stark clarity, a realization he wished he'd made a lot sooner: Juvia didn't know how to open up like Gray had tried to demand, because she hadn't grown up somewhere like Fairy Tail.
Unlike Gray and Natsu and the others, she hadn't been taught to bare her pain, hadn't always known there would be someone to listen to her, cry with her, be on her side. While Gray had been fought, teased, and accepted for exactly who he was (more often his whole self than not) Juvia had been abandoned by every single person in her life except Gajeel and those who'd wanted to use her for their own ends. Gray abandoning her had only confirmed what she'd been taught was inevitable.
But the Ice Mage wouldn't linger on that. He wouldn't give any more time to despair.
It was his turn now, he realized. His turn to stay beside her even when it was hard, and do the work. Now, he just had to figure out how. But while he'd been trying to do that, had been gathering his words, Juvia had recovered enough to speak once more.
She'd apologized again. She'd told him that she knew this was too much, that all of this was too much...that she was too much. For the times they'd shared, she thanked him quietly, eyes bright with yet more tears and refusing to meet his as she continued that she'd had to let Gray go because she wanted him to be happy, and she'd finally, finally realized she could never do that for him, not really. Then she'd tried to push him away, and as Gray had tightened his grip, he'd realized he didn't need to figure out what to do, what to say, or how to love her.
She'd been showing him all along.
After a deep breath, the words had come low, and easier than he'd thought. He told her she was right, all of this was a lot...but also that he was so, so happy she'd finally told him what was really going on. He'd been as gentle as possible when he told her he could see how difficult and scary it had been for her to open up about all this and that he was proud of how brave she'd been for doing so, but she'd started crying again anyway, so he'd had to carry on with a shakier, hoarser voice.
He'd apologized. For everything. For not taking her feelings seriously for so long, for not seeing her when she needed to be seen, for leaving her behind and hurting her so badly she'd gotten sick. He hadn't been dismissing her abilities as a Mage so much as he'd been trying to protect her, but that was no excuse. "High-handed and cruel" was a generous way to describe his behavior, and he finally saw that. He'd told her that if he could take it back, he would. But he couldn't. He could only promise to never, ever leave her like that again, and he was more than ready to make that promise. He had been for a long time, since well into the 1oo Years Quest. If she'd only give him another chance, he'd show her.
At this point, Juvia had obviously started to twig that this conversation wasn't going to go how she planned, with Gray accepting she was too burdensome and unworthy for him and leaving her alone like everyone else had left her, because she'd started kicking up a fuss, forcing him to hold her there again.
"Let Juvia go, Gray-sama!" she'd demanded shakily, sounding like she was barely clinging to her determination. But Gray had refused. He refused to let her go like this, not until she'd heard him out.
As brief as the ensuing argument had been, it was also one of the most frustrating conversations Gray had ever taken part in (and he'd fought Natsu on basically every cock-and-bull-ass plan he'd ever come up with.)
He'd tried desperately to insist that while Juvia could be creepy and he did find rain somewhat gloomy, she was not worthless or annoying or obnoxious. He'd tried to tell her that she did make him happy. He'd tried to tell her how he felt about her.
Juvia had not responded well.
A wall had slammed up in her eyes, the same blank one he'd met on that fateful, rainy day so long ago. As she'd kept denying, and he'd kept pushing, their voices had gotten louder. Eventually, Gray had realized it was raining outside the window next to their bed again, and that was the one thing that had forced him to take a step back from his own frustration. Lucky, because if he hadn't, he might have flown off the handle and ruined everything all over again.
Looking down at her, he'd forced himself to cool off and realized he was being unfair; he was asking her to take an entire journey in one leap, to unlearn a lifetime's-worth of lessons about her own worthlessness over the course of a single conversation. No one could do that. It was an unreasonable thing to ask.
And so, when he'd finally gathered his wits and perspective enough, he'd said, "You don't have to agree with me. You don't have to agree with my feelings for you. But you have to believe that they're real...and you have to at least consider my side."
Juvia's eyes had gone wide. As they regained their sparkle, he'd refused to break eye contact. Slowly, the rain had stopped, leaving them in the silent hut.
After what felt like years, she'd shakily whispered, "O-okay."
And Gray had known that they were finally, finally getting somewhere.
Quietly and slowly, with their hands intertwined between their chests and their foreheads pressed together, they'd pieced together a fragile plan. They would stay together and be as they had been, but from now on, they were both going to make a concerted effort to be honest and rebuild trust. Gray started by admitting that missing out on Quests with his team had really started to bum him out, and while this seemed to sadden Juvia at first, she admitted after some thought that in being with Gray, she hadn't been nurturing her own friendships with her friends like Gajeel and Meredy. Lucy had also asked for help training her in Water Magic, and Juvia had declined so far even though she was interested in having someone to teach.
Gray had encouraged all of this...and he'd encouraged her to visit Porlyusica, too, when they got home. The old lady was hardly a Mental Healer, but she'd hopefully be able to help them find someone who was, someone objective and removed from the situation who Juvia could talk to openly. One thing which had sunk in fully for Gray over the course of Juvia's heartrending speech was that it was going to take a lot of time, work, and love to get Juvia to a better place. There was no way the two of them could do it alone.
They'd talked and planned until their voices were hoarse...and then they'd not talked for even longer. Juvia once again dropped the "-sama." She let him come to her. She didn't just surrender herself to him the way she had when they had each other before in their cabin, she'd given him even more—in his arms, she'd bared a small and precious part of herself Gray had never even realized she hid from him.
Over the course of the month they spent in that cabin, he'd cherished everything she gave him more than most men could've in twice the amount of time. How they'd managed to deal with that Dark Guild months and months ahead of schedule, he would never understand, because his head had never been less in the game. Neither of them had been able keep their hands off each other for more than an hour when they were alone together.
Neither had been particularly disappointed when that crotchety old landlord refused to give them back any part of their months' rent. Instead, they'd stayed till June was up breaking the place in thoroughly.
"It's payback for him being a jackass to you!" Gray had once playfully defended against her neck, pinning her against the kitchen counter and grinning as she gigglingly scolded him.
He only prayed no one ever took a UV Lacrima to the inside of that place. They'd go blind. He'd taken her on the couch, over it, against the walls, on the counters and tables, and in more positions than he'd previously known existed in that bed. When they returned home, a bunch of people had pointed out that they both looked like they'd lost weight. Gray didn't doubt it, after all the—
"...seriously, none of you know what it's like, every time we travel...OI, STRIPPER, YOU MAYBE WANNA QUIT EYE-FUCKING YOUR GIRLFRIEND WHEN WE'RE IN PUBLIC, YOU GODDAMN PERVERT?!"
The absolute last voice Gray wanted to hear when he was thinking about such great, intimate things yanked him out of his reflections in the most unpleasant of ways. An expression crossed between a scowl and a grimace consumed his features.
"Gray-sama!?" Juvia spluttered, craning her neck to peer at them over her shoulder with wide eyes. She looked half-scolding, half...affected as her cheeks went rose red.
Gray felt his own face grow hot as he turned to glare furiously at the pink-haired, disgusted-and-disgusting-looking bane of his existence.
"Would you keep your voice down, Dragon Boy?! I was not 'eye-fucking' Juvia!" His cheeks burned hotter as an elderly woman passing by shot him a deeply disapproving look.
"The hell you weren't!" Natsu snapped, drawing even more attention. "I could see all your gross, perverted thoughts right there in those droopy eyes of yours!"
"ARGH! So what?!" Gray just wanted this fight to be over, and figured that sort of admitting to what he'd been doing was the quickest way to make that happen. "Can't a guy even look at his girlfriend without pink-haired, flame-brained losers getting involved?!"
"THE HELL YOU JUST CALL ME?!"
"OH, SO YOU'RE DEAF AS WELL AS BRAINLESS, NOW?!"
"THAT'S IT, I'VE HAD IT! YOU'RE DEAD, YOU ICY BAS—"
"That's enough."
Uncharacteristically subdued and uninvolved though Erza's command was, it was enough to have both Natsu and Gray cringing and sweating in fear almost instantly.
"A-aye!" they squeaked, then sighed in relief as she shot them one last glare and clanked away.
"Ah, it always goes this way." Happy folded his little blue sausage arms over his chest and tsked. "If only Gray had kept his perverted eyes on himself, we wouldn't even be talking about this."
"And just how the heck is one supposed to 'keep their eyes on themselves', huh?" Gray growled up at the floating Exceed.
"By not being you, apparently!" he cackled back, Natsu soon joining him in his obnoxious guffawing.
"Why, you—! Get back here, you little shit!" Gray made a random grab at the little creep only to curse as he missed his tail by about a centimeter.
Meanwhile, Juvia clasped her still-red cheeks with her hands and donned an all-too-familiar, starry-eyed expression. "Juvia does not mind at all if Gray-sama...covets Juvia in public! How Juvia adores Gray-sama's passion!"
Gray flinched as if he'd been whipped in the back. In a second flat, he was blushing again. "O-oi, Juvia—!" he started, scrambling to find a way to get her to calm down before she came onto him in public.
(Again.)
"However," she continued before he figured out how to distract her, turning to look at him with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "If Gray-sama is going to covet Juvia on a public street, Juvia thinks he should at least wear clothes."
"Wha—?! CRAP!" Gray shouted as soon as he realized he'd stripped down to his boxers. "When did that happen!?"
Juvia wrinkled her nose cutely and giggled while he scrambled for his clothes. When he was finally yanking his jacket on, he shot her a playful glare only for his lips to quirk when she winked and sauntered after Erza.
That little...she'll get it later, he thought with a huff before shoving his hands in his pockets and strolling after her. He was well aware that he was full-on grinning, now, and didn't care in the slightest.
Little interactions like that...those were the fruits of all the hard work they—especially Juvia—had done when they got back from that S-Class mission. Gray had been prepared for it to be grueling and difficult, to fight. "Relationships take work" was a piece of advice he'd heard plenty, since he started asking for advice about how to love Juvia.
But what he'd never expected to find was that, while it was hard sometimes, it was work he was all too willing and capable of doing, because it was for her. For them. And what no one had told him was that, while loving someone meant their pain became yours, it also meant that their triumphs became yours, too.
Some days had been worse than others. Even though she'd been talking to a friend of Porlyusica's and made an impressive effort to spend more times with her friends, there were moments where Gray had felt like Juvia was back at square one. But he'd been there beside her, encouraging her every step of the way while she healed, learned that he wouldn't leave her again, learned that she was worth all of it. And slowly but surely, she'd healed.
That was what no one had told him: that every time she huffed at him to do his own laundry, teased him, sassed him into taking her on a real date, and even turned him down for sex, that he would feel such a huge rush of pride and triumph.
It was true that the road had been hard, but Gray had walked it with Juvia, and that had made every step worth it.

AN: Ah, sorry I don't have the time to edit this now and make it more cohesive! Also that I can't publish my next chapter of Chasing Tails just yet! I definitely, definitely will come back to edit this piece one day and make it better after I've done that. In the meantime, Happy Belated Gruvia Day!
P.S.: Fun Fact! I named this partly after one of my all-time favorite fics from a completely different fandom. The Hard Road by wthtonibelle, a Kacchako fic (from the My Hero Academia fandom) which is written in a similar way and has similar themes, only it's longer and better lol. check it out if you're so inclined!

We met four years before we entered Crown, I believe.***
The night I drifted into the town of London, I passed by a bridge looking for a place to stay and saw a man looking up at the moon.
I looked at his empty-looking profile and thought he was going to fall straight into the river when he finished his cigarette.
So I just had to ask the question.
Ellis: Are you happy?
Jude: What's the point if I'm happy or not?
Ellis: I'll make the happiest moment of you're life....last forever.
Jude: Ha. What is that? Are you crazy?
Jude: The happiest I've ever been in my life. Maybe-
Victor: Working again? I heard about it beforehand, but you are very busy.
It's early morning at Crown Castle. Victor comes into the dining room for breakfast.
He called out to them in passing as they were about to go out after finishing their meal, which was already too early.
Ellis: Sorry, Victor. We'll be back tonight, so we'll talk about the mission then.
Victor: Oh, how industrious! It's totally okay!
Jude: Shut up. You don't have to apologize every time you deal with a freak.
Victor: Jude is so harsh. I love that about you, though. (SO DO WE!)
Jude: Disgusting.
Ellis: We're off.
The two left the castle with opposite expressions on their face.
Liam: I'm impressed that you don't get down at that rate every day, Victor.
Victor: Well, I'm the one who recruited those two.
Liam: I joined Crown on the condition that I could keep my current job, but those two guys seem busier than I am.
Liam: I wonder if they have time to do their duties for Crown?
It's been a few days since Ellis and Jude joined the team, and they haven't even had their first mission yet.
William: Well, it doesn't matter when their first mission is.
Harrison: Hey, can we really trust those guys?
William: Why do you say that?
Harrison: It's said he's a trader, but I've heard some fishy rumors. I hear he has a lot of enemies here and there.
Liam: Oh, I've heard that too. It's even talked about mong the fellow actors from time to time.
Liam: Some aristocrat got ripped off and had all his money squeezed out of him.
Harrison: I don't care if he's just a crooked merchant. If he's a spy, I can't just sit idly by.
Victor: You can't trust them?
Harrison: You're a random weirdo, but I know you have a good eye for people. It's just....
Victor: !Did you hear that, William?! Did you hear what Harry just said about me?! (My guy is an excited chihuahua LOL.)
William: Oh, I heard. There's more to come.
Victor: Yes, you may continue!
Harrison:.....you're a real pain in the ass.
Harrison: It's just that his background is too shady to be trusted beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Harrison: I don't think we should let those two act individually too much, do you?
Victor: Hmmm, well I don't want to restrict....their freedom too much.
William: Why don't you just make sure? Whether you can trust them or not?
Victor: Make sure....I like that!
Liam: Haha, looks like something's about to start, doesn't it?
Harrison: I have a bad feeling about this.....
Victor: So, all of Crown is together! We are going to observe Jude and Ellis' way of life!
Liam: Oh! *Claps*
Alfons: Is this another one of Victor's dimwitted projects? It's the best.
Victor: I want everyone to observe the two of them and report back to me.
Victor: The theme is: Are those two worthy of Crown?
Harrison: Damn...I shouldn't have said anything. I'm too busy for this.
Elbert: What are you busy with...?
Alfons: As I recall, you were in the middle of a reviewing job with no time to meet the deadline, and the first draft had not been submitted by the writer.
Alfons: It's as he said, “I'm going to have to stay up all night just before the deadline.”
Liam: Well, wouldn't it be nice if Harry acted as the command center?
Liam: The investigation will be shared among the members other than Harry!
Alfons: A stealth mission, sounds like fun.
Elbert: I don't mind.
Roger: Well, that's good, isn't it?
Harrison: By the way, what's your reason for not doing it?
William: I don't think we'll get that far.
Harrison: ...right?
Victor: Then let the investigation begin!
***Note: I just wanted to affirm that Ellis mentions it had been four years since he met Jude prior to joining Crown. This is not a mistranslation.
