Fic Writer Interview
Wow thanks so much for tagging me @whileyoureinschoolidothisallday ! This looked like fun!!
-- How many works do you have on AO3?
9 currently
-- What's your total AO3 word count?
6,734! I’m still just getting started lol 😅
-- What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Here’s to Not Being in Love (92)
Smile (38)
Mime (18)
Family (15)
Calico Road (15)
(Smile, Mime, and Family are all from my Corazon Week submissions 😊)
-- Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! I appreciate anyone taking the time to read my work and leaving a comment??? Bless 🙏🏼 Sometimes I’m a little late replying but I always make an effort to reply whenever possible!
-- What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
All of my Corazon Week fics are pretty angsty. They’re canon-compliant so the angst comes with the territory 😢
-- What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
A Kyros/Scarlett anniversary fic I’ve had written for months but haven’t shared yet. That’s probably the fluffiest ending I’ve written to a fic that’s actually completed
-- Do you write crossovers?
I haven’t…but I’m not opposed
-- Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Thankfully no 😅
-- Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope. Not my thing.
-- Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
-- Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but if anyone wanted to and asked that would be such an honor!
-- Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not exactly. But my sister and I have collaborated on brainstorming a couple ideas
-- What’s your all-time favorite ship?
✨ me x my fave ✨
Lol jk but I’m not sure… I’ll go with a classic Belle/Adam from Beauty and the Beast.
-- What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I had a Loki/Sigyn fic I was writing years ago with my own concept for Sigyn’s characterization. It was fun but I don’t have much prolonged interest in the MCU anymore so I don’t know if I’ll get back in the mindset to continue it. Who knows, though? Maybe someday 😅
-- What are your writing strengths?
All aspects of a scene need to be balanced in order to craft a good story, in my personal opinion. I work very hard to write realistic dialogue and in-character actions. I really think I have a knack for characterization.
-- What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing lengthier WIPs, despite all the best intentions 😅
-- What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Nuanced. It can be done correctly or incorrectly imo. I think it can be a wonderful way to express a more about a character, like using terms of endearment in the character’s native tongue, for example.
-- What was the first fandom you wrote for?
To my recollection either Kim Possible or The Incredibles when I was little. I didn’t really refer to it as “fanfic” back in the day, though
-- What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
For My Hero, I really want to write a dynamic between Toshinori and Moko Tamashi (the last woman All Might saved) not necessarily romantic; I haven’t decided on a direction for that one, only that I want them to interact.
For One Piece, I also want to write something for Sanji and Osome (the woman from Wano with the little mouse friend) — they were so cute and I liked her a lot!
Both of these are self-indulgent bc it’s one of my favorite characters and an underrated background character lol
-- What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I honestly don’t think I can choose a favorite, because all my fics are very special to me. Each one contains a piece of my soul so it makes it very difficult to pick just one. 😅
This was so fun! I'll tag a few other writers!
@balsee @gendervapor14 @forgedobsidian @plusultraetc @captainportgasdace @shaanks @dark-elf-writes @misslovasstuff and anyone else who wants to!! No pressure if you don't feel like participating! :D

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by the absolutely lovely @staceymcgillicuddy and my wondrous darling @pearlypairings - thank you both! 🥰
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
15, 13 of which are complete and the last two very nearly finished. 😭
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
365,528 and counting. I’m a rambler!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Only Stranger Things… nothing else has grabbed my attention quite the way s4 did.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
With a Little Help From My Friends (my ultra-long found family fic)
Why Should I Cry For You (that one surprised me, it came from way behind!)
Not-so-iron Maiden (Eddie & Max sibling supremacy)
Tattoos and Trash Talk (Eddie and El bonding)
the shield and the shepherd (my very first fic! Eddie and Chrissy falling in love without Vecna in the way)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! I’m absolutely tickled every time somebody likes something I wrote enough that they take the time to leave me a comment about it. I’ve even made a few friends that way!
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably Into the Shining Sun? Even then, it’s angst with a very hopeful note to it. There’s enough angst in my real life; I like everything in my fics to turn out okay.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
So far, With a Little Help, because it ended with Eddie and Chrissy’s wedding!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully, I haven’t. I honestly think it will break my heart if it ever happens. I stumbled completely by accident across a post here on tumblr hating on GreatMage and I literally cried about that for two days. (Shameful!)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope, I live firmly in the fluff zone. All of my fics are rated a very mild T.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Haven’t tried one yet, but maybe someday, if I can think of a good idea!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. How would I even know that? 🤔
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet, but @pearlypairings and I have kicked around a few fun ideas and someday we are going to make Clarkelley happen!
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
This is a nearly impossible question.
15. What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I’ve only got two WIPs and they’re both almost done, so— none!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Omg, I don’t even know, honestly. Umm… I guess building friendships and relationships between characters?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Anything outside of my comfort zone. I have a tiny little box I tend to stay in, and refuse to even try branching out.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
With the help of Google Translate, I’ve scattered some bits of Welsh dialogue here and there throughout Next Time I Fall. Apparently I got most of it wrong. So I don’t think I’ll try any other languages unless I’m actually familiar with them!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Probably X-Files? And then there was that random embarrassing NSYNC stuff… we won’t talk about that. Those were all just scribbled in old journals, though. I never actually posted anything publicly until I found Ao3 last year.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I think each one is my favorite while I’m working on it! But I think I have to say Next Time I Fall, because the response to it was so much more than I expected, and people’s engagement with and investment in the story has given me so much joy.
Randomly tagging @tnmdfhgkg @saltyseagoat83 @sokkas-first-fangirl
and for anyone else who sees this and feels like sharing, 🫵 *boop* I tag you!

Twenty Questions: Fic Author Edition
@thelettersfromnoone, @professionalfangrrl, @no-where-new-hero, @bodyelectric77, and @caesarflickermans -> thank you for the tag!!!
1-How many works do you have on Ao3?
17! <- what?!
2-What's your total Ao3 word count?
56,375
3-What fandoms do you write for?
The Hunger Games primarily
4-What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
A New Recipe
Wild Wednesdays
In Our Favor
A Song for Found Souls
Haunted House
5-Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! There is nothing better than an Ao3 comment notification! (Sometimes it takes me a while to respond and I’m much better at responding on Ao3 than on Tumblr (unfortunately)) If someone took the time to read and drop a note, I want to let them know how much I appreciate it!
I also appreciate all the people who read and support without written words. I get it: it took me months of reading before I felt confident enough to comment ❤️
6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
For the most part I think my fics are soft and hopeful.
7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmmm, idk, they’ll all have happy endings someday
8-Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully, nothing so far. Sometimes I’ll read too much into a comment or lack there of, but everyone has been very kind so far!
9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Ugh, I’d like to, but I’m pretty terrified of doing it poorly. Maybe someday - send help!
10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I don’t think so? How is crossover defined? I’ve written things inspired by other things, but does a crossover require characters/settings mixing?
11-Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope
12-Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13-Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Nope - but I think I’d enjoy it! Let me know if you want to collaborate 😉
14-What's your all-time favourite ship?
Everlark! (Katniss Everdeen/Peeta Mellark)
15-What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I’d like to finish them all…I haven’t given up hope yet!
16-What are your writing strengths?
Maybe premise? Or canon parallels?
17-What are your writing weaknesses?
All of it - I’m not a strong writer, but I enjoy telling stories…
18-Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I’m not fluent enough in anything to attempt it, but I admire those who are and use it in fics!
19-First fandom you wrote for?
THG - everlark!
20-Favorite fic you've ever written?
Depends on the day!
Feel free to reach out and send questions anytime!!
Anyone else wants to play?

Fic Writer Interview
Oooh, this looks fun! Thanks @plusultraetc for tagging me!
-- How many works do you have on AO3?
16. Huh. Didn’t think it was that many tbh. Yay me? :D
-- What's your total AO3 word count?
97,793! Almost 100k! Yipee!
Fun Fact: Before my latest fic, it was at a nice, very satisfying 88,888. I’d like to say that’s why it took me over a year to upload another fic, but well. I’d be lying lolol.
-- What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
a definite sign of what we will be (someday)
be my fictional obsession (my newest daydream)
you know i make you wanna scream
like sugar and cyanide
like heaving through corrupted lungs (‼)
(^ Didn’t think she’d make the cut! Proud of her!!)
-- Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I love responding to comments!! It’s a wonderful excuse to ramble about my writing and share my thoughts about my beloved blorbos with like-minded souls. Unfortunately, I am. Shy. I’m usually good at responding when a fic first drops because the sheer adrenaline/euphoria of finally posting something propels me out of my shell, but once that wears out. Help.
I do read and cherish every single comment I receive tho - and I’m very lucky to receive such thoughtful comments, too! Just know that if you’ve ever commented on any of my fic – ily <33
-- What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Uh. All of them? Aldkjfskfj okay, that’s a lie, but tbh it’d be easier to point at the ones that don’t have kinda bummer endings. I love me some angst. :3
The title for Angstiest def has to go to ‘friend make sense of me’ tho. Yowch.
-- What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Oh, ‘be my fictional obsession’ for sure. Although ‘strawberry soju' is a strong contender, ultimately ‘bmfo’ is simply Sillier, so she takes the crown. :3
-- Do you write crossovers?
Not really! Though I have toyed around with writing AUs in other settings, the most recent of which is a BBC Merlin AU, which, let me tell you, has been tons of fun, even if I’ll probably never get around to finishing it lol.
-- Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I was about to say no because everyone has always been so lovely to me, but then I remembered that one person who bookmarked ‘like sugar and cyanide’ only to call it ‘lame’ for being self-indulgent and not ending with EraserMic getting together. Which was kinda funny ngl, because, like, my guy. The Unresolved Romantic Tension is right there in the tags, and also I repeatedly dunk on myself for being self-indulgent in just about every chapter note, so like, move along, sister, this is not the fic you’re looking for lmaoo.
-- Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope! Love me some innuendo and crass humor, but the most I ever see myself doing is a fade to black or maybe some vague allusion to the act (← see, I just did it), because it is simply not my cup of tea.
-- Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope, but I’d be open to it for sure!
-- Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Another no, though I’m not sure I’d be a good fit for it tbh. I’m a bit precious about my writing process. 😅
-- What's your all-time favorite ship?
Oh god, this is a Question. I mean, I have to say EraserMic given how much of my (fan) life it has consumed these past years, even if I do have some complicated, and at times contentious, thoughts and feelings about it.
QPR MicNight is right up there, though! I have just as complex and much less contentious feelings about QPR MicNight, my beloved. <3
I have so many QPR MicNight WIPs, you guys. One of these days, I’ll even finish one. orz
-- What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
CRIES. ALL OF THEM.
Okay, non-dramatic answer is ‘as the mists roll in at midnight,’ which is a WIP I started and finished outlining back in 2021 (it even got a title!) and then never got past the second chapter.
It’s a sort of house horror AU, featuring EraserMic, QPR MicNight, unexplained happenings in the woods, and a haunted inn that just wants to keep you safe. I love it so so much that I kind of got overwhelmed by my love for it, and thus my need for it to be perfect, and now I fear I shall never get back to it. </3
The same is true for so many of my WIPs, if I’m being honest. Shout out to Midnight Time Loop AU, ‘a song for a song,’ and ‘you know i make you wanna scream,’ the latter of which is the reason I no longer post multi-chap WIPs. rip.
-- What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and narrative voice. I get so many niceys comments on both, especially my narrative voice for Mic, which makes my heart do a happy dance every time. :)
-- What are your writing weaknesses?
Establishing and describing setting, unfortunately. The struggle to not end up with characters talking and introspecting in The Void all the time is real. OTL
Also there's the more technical stuff like my abuse of adverbs, em-dashes, and run-on sentences, as well as my point-blank refusal to kill my darlings at times, but I like to chalk all that up to Style, Vibes, and This Hobby is Supposed to Be Fun, Damnit, so we don't count any of that. :3
-- What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
No strong thoughts in particular, just the usual 'as long as it's done well' caveat. Though I do like when honorifics and such are sprinkled in here and there, hence why I tend to do so in my fic. I find it serves as a helpful reminder that these characters are Japanese, and thus hopefully helps to stave off some of that dreaded, inevitable Americanization of everything.
-- What was the first fandom you wrote for?
BNHA, which, let me tell you, came as a surprise not just to me, but also to anyone who knows me irl. I was famously Not Very Much Into Anime for most of my life. Go figure.
-- What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
BBC Merlin!
I watched (and was obsessed with) the show way back when, but have only recently gotten into the fandom, and good GOD has it been a struggle to not hop right in to writing fic for it, especially for Gwen/Morgana, my beloved toxic yuri queens. Only reason I haven’t is because I’m loathe to add to my already heaping WIP pile.
-- What's your favorite fic you've written?
Oof, this is a hard one.
‘strawberry soju’ has my heart right now because it felt like such a different undertaking than most of my previous work (it’s a 9k, non-linear, Aizawa POV one-shot! There’s actual kissing in it!) and also because I learned a lot while working on it. I didn’t have a real outline when I started writing, only a premise, one or two strong images of interactions I wanted to include, and several themes I wanted to touch on. It was a struggle working with such bare bones at times, but I'm glad I kept at it, because I'm proud of how much of the core themes and concepts came through in the final result.
However. If I’m being honest, my real answer to this question is the fic I wrote for Something Just Like This, an EraserMic zine I contributed to that is currently in production. I wrote that fic back in February, and it’s been absolute hell not being able to share it this whole time because I’m just so goddamn proud of it!! I won’t say anything else because I could go on forever about it and I’m contractually obligated to not spill the beans, but GOD I can’t wait for you all to read it. 🥺
-
Okay, that's enough yapping for now, but this was so much fun!! Thanks again for tagging me! <3
As for me, I'll tag @scream-mans-friend (no pressure!!) and anyone else who wants to take a crack at this. c:

Alflear Week (1)
bed-ridden/sleep/firsts
(Still a WIP, so I plan to finish it later.) for @malflearweek
--
The first time it happened, his head could just about peek over the bed the Divine Dragon slept upon. Alfred didn’t need to stand on his tiptoes to see the wisps of blue and red hair framing the Divine Dragon’s cheeks, but he still couldn’t see his entire face. His mother had lifted him up a few times to see the Divine Dragon fully, and Alfred vaguely recalled his shirt had two large dark blue lines. But from this angle, he could only see a criss-crossing golden pattern and a lot of white.
He loved coming here. Most of his days were spent in bed or visiting the doctor. His mother had said he needed to do physical therapy in order to get stronger. He liked the idea of getting stronger, but he also wanted a friend. He wanted someone else to talk to about his day or about the flowers he saw from the castle windows.  Everyone told him the Divine Dragon was listening carefully and lovingly to those who visited him. So even if Alfred didn’t get a direct reply back, it was fine.
“Hi, Divine One! It’s Alfred. Wait, um….” He clasped his hands in prayer. “Divine One, thank you for allowing me into your sacred place of rest. Okay, that should be good, right? I wanna tell you about my day!
“Today I saw some hummingbirds in the garden! They were so small and fast, they just zoomed past me. They really liked the flowers, too. And then, Mother taught me how to make a flower crown. She called it something like… ger land? I forgot!
“I wish you could see the flower crown I’m wearing today. Maybe I’ll make one for you, too. I don’t think it’s disturr, um, disturbing your sleep if I put it on very quietly. Maybe I’ll get really good at it, and then I can make lots for my little sister! She is still a baby, so I’ll have to make little ones. I would make lots of flower crowns for my friends. But I don't know when I'll see them again.
“I just want to have more friends around… I mean, you are my friend, too, but you can’t play tag with me or practice duels, or walk with me in the garden…
“...Unless you woke up right now! You don’t wanna be stuck in bed either, right? Then we could be best friends! Hm. Maybe you just need help… ngh…”
Alfred stood on his tiptoes and stretched out an arm for anywhere he could reach. His fingers brushed against some fabric from the Divine Dragon’s sleeves. He repeatedly grasped at that area until a clump of white and gold was firm in his hold. Then, he tugged.
“Please?” he whispered, timid. His mother had told him many times to never disturb the Divine Dragon’s slumber. Reminded of her words, Alfred reluctantly allowed the fabric to slip from his fingers. Shame burned his cheeks.
“I’m sorry, Divine One. I think we have to be friends just like this, with you sleeping. But can you wake up someday soon, please? Then, I’ll show you the pretty flowers in Firene and watch butterflies. Or maybe we could even see a deer! And I’ll make you a flower crown!”
---
Alfred was sure the second time was an accident. He had outgrown his childhood fantasies of playing tag with the Divine Dragon, after all, and the weight of his responsibilities began to settle on his conscience. He visited the Somniel less often, now that his health had improved and other activities filled his daily life. Every time he came, though, lifted his spirits.
“Divine One, Céline can’t come today. It’s been a while since it was just me, hasn’t it? There’s a lot to catch up on, and I can’t wait for you to hear all about it.
“Well, Céline completely outclasses me in magic. She really has a talent for it. Yesterday, she burned a training dummy to ashes, and it was just her first week using fire magic. I tried to learn some magic myself, but I guess I’ll just have to stick to physical weaponry. I’m getting really good at the lance, now. I want to be as good as Father was at it, so I still have to work harder.
“Oh, and we learned about who our retainers will be! We were thinking Céline’s would be Etie. They were practically joined at the hip as children, so imagine my surprise when she was assigned to me. Instead, her new retainers are a woman and man, Chloe and Louie. I knew Louie from his knighthood training at the castle, but I’ve never met Chloe before. She and Céline seemed to know each other. I thought Céline told me everything, but even she keeps some secrets.
“My retainers are my trusted friends, Etie and Boucheron. Getting to train with two of the strongest people I know… Divine One, I couldn’t be happier! Oh, you’re really strong too. You vanquished the Fell Dragon before! It’s a shame we can’t practice sparring matches together, but… but anything could happen. Right?
“No doubt you’re listening to me, because you have given me the strength to be a prince to my people, and I am grateful. A lot of it was my own work, too, but you really are a true friend, looking out after me. So you know my deepest wish. I get it, you need more time to heal from your wounds, more time than I needed… but…
“I might not even get to ascend the throne. When I start thinking about that, I feel so sickened that I might leave mother and Céline alone… how can I be a worthy prince? I hate thinking that some things just weren’t meant to be. You probably can’t make it go away, but if there was any way to make sure I could at least take care of Firene, Divine One… please. I don’t want to lose the joys I have, spending time with Etie and Boucheron, ruling with Céline and Mother, and being able to talk to you.
“I am scared, Divine One. What will happen to me? I wish I knew what you were thinking right now. Can you share a sign, anything?” Alfred scanned the Divine Dragon’s face for any response, a twitch of the nose, a deeper breath than usual, maybe even a smile.
“It’s alright, I really enjoy talking to you all the same. I’ll keep my health up, so that we can talk for as many years as I have left. I promise to treasure each and every moment we have together. …I’ve seen Céline do this thing called a pinky promise before. I wonder if we could…”
Those words were a mere suggestion, not even taken form, when he noticed the hands folded across the Divine Dragon’s chest twitched. Alfred’s eyes widened. A low, short grunt emerged from the body lying in front of him.
Alfred heard his heartbeat accelerate. Could it be? All those years of his childhood dreaming of seeing the Divine Dragon’s eyes with his own, realized? After a moment passed without incident, he exhaled. He would just have to train more, eat well, work hard and perhaps, one day, he could share his joy with the one who was there for him for all his years.

🤓 my number 1 though is Always Pushing her Luck with a stellar one hundret and ten because yall are some sluts for a good lesbian smut fic
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes!! i love interacting with people on art no matter if it’s theirs or mine<3
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
hmm i think Teeth actually? not really angsty but maybe it kind of makes you go 😬😳 or WAIT maybe my very first jeg microfic thing, the Stag one yknow.. where James is dead😁
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
again, from my ao3 one’s probably Ribs but microfics probably just all the fluffy ones, i’m looking at the cookie baking one here esp, also Walk and Carry
8. Do you get hate on fics?
nope! but i was lowkey concerned for the new non-con fic jdkskd But so far so good hahah
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
why yes i do. mm mostly the unhinged kind in some way hdksks but ig the lesbian wolfstar one is very tender too<3
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
not crossovers per se but we love a good AU of another fandom universe, my marauders Maze Runner Au is very dear to me, we’ll see if she ever sees the light of the day
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge no
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nopesie
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no but! i will have to kick @pinkthekla cass and me in the ass to make it happen someday because the world deserves to see one james potter horny and humbled
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
this changes all the time honestly and they’re all very very close to each other but i’m gonna have to say iwaoi on top because their chemistry is just unmatched and something i hold so close to my heart, they just mean a lot of comfort to me! so thats prob why

i think i can do a dialogue quite good but it’s hard for me to get into a zone or scenario where it comes to that naturally, but whenever it does happen? i’m super happy and proud of the result (that’s why i like my hitmen jegulus microfic so much)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
probably that i’m not really good at creating a storyline/plot djskks that’s something that does Not come easily to me and probably one of the only reasons i havent really finished any of my big fics or even their first chapters. If i have a plan/ a prompt or something in general i can orientate myself off of it flows super easily (all the microfics and Ant Pile) but coming up with something of my own is very hard and i often feel kinda bad about it too :,))

20 Questions For Fic Writers!
Thank you so much for the tag, @honeyteacakes!! I loved reading your responses. This was so much fun to do.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
35! Some of them are locked to attempt to minimise AI scraping.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
44,236 holy shit
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, I’m pretty deeply embedded in the Sandman-verse. But I’ve also written an AC Odyssey fic recently.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I’m skipping this one because I embedded so many links in this post and I don’t wanna do it anymore. 😂 And people can just filter by kudos on AO3 if they’re interested.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I respond EXTREMELY slowly, but I make every effort to reply to comments when I have the energy to spare. It means a lot to me when people take the time to tell me what they liked about my stories.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oooh. Good question. It’s either “pour the dirt into our bed” (Ranger’s Apprentice, referencing homophobia faced in a queerplatonic relationship) or “if you want voices in the dark, listen to mine” (Good Omens, after a temptation gone wrong.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I write a fair amount of tender stories, so there are a lot of possible answers to this one! Potentially it’s “our place in the sun” (Sandman, Lucienne/Calliope domestic fluff) which is all about coming to rest and settling into love. Another option is “throw down that spade and dig up the garden” (Good Omens, Ineffable Husbands) which is about…pretty much the same thing, now that I think about it. 😂
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully not. I genuinely can’t understand why people leave hate comments on fics. Sure, there’s a lot of things I take issue with in certain fandoms, but I bitch about that stuff strictly IN MY OWN SPACE, I absolutely do not barge into other people’s spaces to do it. I never will and you can hold me to that.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I WANT TO. I’m working on it!! I actually have a smut prompt ask game queued up for next year, when I’ll have fewer writing obligations. As for what kind, I want to write so much femslash smut. There is devastatingly little in the Sandman fandom.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
OHOHOHO. I have written a Los Simuladores/Good Omens crossover and it is genuinely one of my favorite stories that I’ve ever written. “every morning the same big and little words all spelling out desire” is appropriately zany, hopefully sexy, and seasoned with a dash of angst to balance the flavors.
(Shout out to @jlemonster for writing such a glowing post about it, it makes me happy just remembering it.)
Another crossover I’m working on is Johanna Constantine/Mary Poppins. I PROMISE it will make sense when it’s written. …well, maybe. 😂
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!!! As part of Fandom Trumps Hate this year I had two fics of mine wonderfully translated into Spanish by @yourneighborhoodneighbor and it was an amazing experience.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. I don’t know if that would work with my writing habits, tbh. Maybe someday though, if the right idea and right person come along!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Oh GOD. Complicated question!! There are ships I’m currently enamored of, obviously, but who knows if they’ll stand the test of time? I know that Kaz/Inej (Six of Crows) and Irina/Jack (Alias) did something to my adolescent brain that may never be undone, but that’s the closest I can get to an answer to this question.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I’ve got a Good Omens Ineffable Wives AU inspired by Anne of Green Gables that is very dear to me, and has many aspects I’m extremely proud of, but I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it. My interest in Good Omens has flagged of late and unfortunately I don’t know if I’ll complete many of my WIPs for that fandom!
16. What are your writing strengths?
I like to think I have a good grasp on characters’ voices! Also, I think I write tactile and descriptive details well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
TRANSITIONS ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have done it once!!! For the aforementioned Los Simus fic. It was so much fun, and a good challenge for me. The dialogue was in Spanish (with very valuable help from @thisisnotjuli) and I loved writing how the two characters spoke in somewhat differing dialects.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh, lord. Probably Harry Potter? By hand, in a notebook from the dollar store. I was probably about eight or nine.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
They’re my children. My babies. My beloved frogspawn. I can’t give a definite answer, but…two of the stories that I worried my lip over the most for dread of failing to do them justice, the ones I think I put the most heart and consideration and care into, are “it’s an old song (and we’re gonna sing it again)” (Sandman, Calliope & Dream + healing and rediscovery and intimacy and changed but no less important relationships) and “sister dear, bear me away” (Good Omens, a human AU about gender discovery).
No pressure tags: the usual suspects <3 @pyrocephalus-rubinus @fatcatgospel and Juli, as well as @zorawitch @azi-sings-calliope @cosmictapestry, and anyone else who reads this and wants to talk about their creations!!

TALES FROM THE WIP WEDNESDAY CRYPT - NO LODGING FOR THE MAD EDITION
So, guess who finally got some revision done?Hopefully, I’ll be out of this Fucking Lobby Scene soon; I do mean to finish this someday.
Been tagged by @shallow-gravy and @adelaidedrubman these past few weeks; tagging @henbased @florbelles @vasiktomis @deputy-morgan-malone @strafethesesinners @broken-balance-baby @detectivelokis @derelictheretic
“The name, sir?” He didn’t go out of his way to include the honorific, but the man snickers anyways.
“How about Jack Moulton.” He says it like the punchline of a joke. “Don’t think I’ve used that one before.”
Mindlessly Joseph hums an agreement, fiddling with the register. The name on the card is “Adrian Solossa” - what even is that, Spanish? Faith would know, god I miss her - but he could always say he thought it belonged to one of his buddies, if the cops ever come knocking on behalf of whoever’s pocket it was plucked from.
“William Peyton still owns this motel, yes.”
Of course, this is a friend of his boss, the living wax statue. “He does”
The man - Jack draws back from the desk, finally, swiping up the keys. “Tell him Hoyt is here in the morning. Hoyt, not Jack. Let him come by and say howzit.”
He’s got no goddamn clue what the last part of that sentence was, but he catches his real name, the archaic, viking-ish Hoyt. He’s handled people who used fake names before, husbands two-timing their wives and lot lizards from miles up the road, two distinct types of whore. Hoyt’s a bit old to be a gigolo, his friends a bit underdressed; a pimp from out of town and his security, maybe. It would explain why it seems he’s supposed to feel honored.
Jack or Hoyt or whatever he is pushes himself up off the table, the motion a greater mercy than anything Joseph’s seen since coming out here.
“Go unlock the door on 235 and turn the heat on.” He tosses the key to the sunburn, who catches them seamlessly, somehow still sharp. “Bring the floppy haired yokel with you, he can carry the bags.”
He kicks the glass door open unceremoniously, hovering a bit in the threshold to cock his head in Joseph’s direction.
“Do that quickly for me, eh?” One ugly blue eye winks, pleased with himself from the looks of it. “Long night.”
The door falls shut behind him, a draft brushing Joseph’s cheeks as he watches him disappear into the dark.
As quickly as he can, Joseph wriggles his arms into his hoodie and slinks out from behind the desk, some exhaustion seeping back in now that the shock has worn off. Helping his weird friend settle in must mean something to his boss, he decides, and Joseph is doing him a favor working with a scalded hand as is - once this is over, he’ll stay outside to smoke a cigarette. He’ll spend what’s left of the shift doing what he likes.
He’s already halfway to the door by the time the sunburn hauls himself out of his chair with a grunts. A shockwave of chilled, breathable air washes over him as he drags it open, and he sucks it in greedily, even as his body tenses.
This stretch of land always has a languidness to it, but at night the desert drops all pretensions of life and slips into dreamless sleep. In the half-year since he drifted out here, the road has seen no cops, no buses and no cars worth more than 5K. He buys his food from the same place where his coworker puts gas in her car, steals appliances from the Hotel’s stock when his own break down. Every so often, a coyote will go behind the dumpster to gnaw bones or have pups, but they never settle here, no more than the clientele. Joseph is attendant to a dusty, transient purgatory, locked down where the guys he came to Texas with have long since passed through.
He doesn’t know what he’ll do, if something happens to him.

20 questions game for fic writers
tagged by @strideofpride!
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 9
2. What’s your total ao3 word count? 153,297
3. What fandoms do you write for? derry girls at the moment, though i do have one lonely bridgerton fic.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? an intervening suitor, smoke break, making moves, someday, personal space
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? yes, always. it means a lot to me when someone takes the time to comment and, as a commenter who likes when the author responds, i like to be the author that responds! there was a short period of time last fall after derry girls season 3 came out on netflix when i felt pretty overwhelmed by the engagement with my fic and i let myself take a break from responding then, but i'm more on top of it now.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? smoke break
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i think i might be writing it now with someday, but of the fics i've completed, i think in their thirties has the happiest ending (sorry making moves, y'all are definitely breaking up in a couple of years).
8. Do you get hate on fics? nope.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind? not at the moment. writing good smut is a skill that i think i would need to spend a lot more time developing. that said, i'm in the very early stages of working on a WIP that has a pretty sex-heavy premise so maybe i'll give it a try soon.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve ever written? nope!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? i don't think so.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? not that i know of!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? i have collaborated significantly - making moves - but i've never actually co-written. that's also a skill i would need to develop. i worry i would end up being an asshole to someone i care about since i don't like to compromise on creative decisions if i have a specific vision in mind. that said, i have loved my experience developing fic plot and characters with friends (which imo is a type of co-writing), so maybe the next step is full on co-writing.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? my favorite ship to write is jerin, if that isn't obvious. i don't even know how to begin to decide what my favorite ship of all time is.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? if i publish something online, i'll finish it eventually. no WIP left behind. but there are definitely ideas/half-written fics in my gdocs that i don't know i'll ever get back around to. there's something new i just started working on and have already put on the back burner for someday and i'm already wondering if i’ll ever finish it even if the vibes are impeccable and i've written some stuff in it that hits so good. but who knows.
16. What are your writing strengths? i'm very good at writing exactly what i want to read. taste and skill don't always match up, but they do a lot (and increasingly more so, the more i write) and i find that really fun and gratifying.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? i am very impatient. i always underestimate how long something will take me to write, and then get frustrated with myself when it's taking too long or i think the writing should be moving faster. i think i've moved too quickly past parts that needed more work because of this, which is frustrating when i go back and re-read past chapters (i'm thinking specifically of someday which i am tempted to re-write almost constantly). but i'm getting better at it. maybe i'm not getting not less impatient, but at least more persistent.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? i mean if the fic called for it i could probably swing it in russian.
19. First fandom you ever wrote for? harry potter. my bad james/lily fic is now out there on ao3 after the site where i published in high school got archived a couple of years back, but i'll never claim it. i re-read something recently, though, and it was surprising how much i could recognize my current writing voice in it. the more things change the more they stay the same.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written? this changes, but right now it's smoke break. i just re-read it over the weekend and, while it's not perfect, it still scratches a very particular itch. i'm also very proud of in their thirties.

20 questions for fic writers
@carriecmoney tagged everyone who wanted to do this, and that includes me :) I will also be passing it along and tagging everyone who wants to do it
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
109! The Hetalia fics are posted under a different psued, so they don’t all always show up
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
804,045!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
These days mostly One Piece
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1) Learning to Listen (ZoSan as pain sharing soulmates)
2) Keeping Secrets (Zosan is the worst best kept secret of the Straw Hat pirates)
3) Is technically Call It What You Want, but since I’m basically riding the coattails of 7 much better writers for that, we’ll skip it and say The Proper Reaction (ZoSan au where Sanji brings Zoro home for Christmas to meet Zeff)
4) Hold Me Closer (Zosan, anesthesia makes Zoro forget he’s married to the love of his life, fluff ensues)
5) The Love I Need to See Me Through (ZoSan au where King Zoro kidnaps Prince Sanji)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Not really, mostly because I’m very shy and responded with “thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it” all the time makes me anxious. I’ll reply if someone asks a question.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hard to say, since I mostly like happy endings, but probably the ao3 version of the murder mystery because Spoilers.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hard to say since again since I like happy endings, most of them end pretty happy. Probably The Christmas Swap, since i was going for “hallmark movie but incredibly gay” and got to make the brothers more accepting thanks to that premise.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Occasionally, but not really. There’s been one persistent anon lately, but I’m wise to their game
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I don’t! I might in the future if the plot calls for it, but we’ll see
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Yes, sometimes! There’s a Kingdom Hearts/Legend of Zelda Epic I’ve been planning since I was like 14 that I want to write one day, but if all the ones I’ve published probably the Hetalia/Ace Attorney crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Thankfully no, or not that I know of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! There’s a Russian translation for Bounty Troubles, and a Chinese translation for the first part of Learning to Listen. I think there are more but I can’t find the links
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! As mentioned I worked on Call It What You Want with some friends, and I worked on This Is How You Lose the Time War with my friend Haru! It was fun writing with them
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Probably ZoSan at this point, there just so versatile and fun to shove in Situations
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
There’s this au where Sanji never left Germa and became there spy and is now on Alabasta causing problems on purpose fic I’ve been chipping away at for years, but who knows maybe someday it’ll be finished
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’m great at dialog, coming up with ideas, and fixing plot holes
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Too many commas, can’t describe shit, reuse the same ideas and phrases, and I can’t stop editing as I go
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I’ve done it! I only speak English so I got some outside help, but I think it’s very effective if the POV can’t understand the language
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically powerpuff girls, but that was just for my friends. That I posted online Legend of Zelda, but all those fics are gone now
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Fade Away! I didn’t think I was a good enough writer for the idea when I started, but I wrote it anyway, and as I did I became better

March is upon us so I'm probably gonna be spending very little time on Tumblr from now on. I have a lot of stuff queued, tho sadly most of it is not Sandman related. Do tag me in stuff you want me to see, I'm already sad at how much I'll miss. Particularly the ficlets and fan comics 😭.
I'll try my best to finish my current WIP in a timely fashion, but as for my other WIPs all I can say is, hopefully someday 🙃. The "to comment" pile of read fics on my kindle has been growing faster than it shrinks but maybe less time to read will reverse that who knows

thank you so much for tagging me, @theonceandfuturequeenoftarts <3333 I appreciate you so much!!
20 Questions (for fanfic writers)
1. how many works do you have on ao3? 11
2. what’s your total ao3 word count? 250,655
3. what fandoms do you write for? honestly anything that strikes my fancy at that moment. if I could, I’d write a fic for every hyperfixation I have—but if we’re talking about the fandoms I currently have written for on AO3, then it’s Harry Potter, The Umbrella Academy, and Ocean’s 11.
4. top five fics by kudos: Iron & Decaying Dreams, There is a crack in everything / That’s how the light gets in., As Rare As Springtime Snow, Earnest, and Hope is Hell’s Final Torment.
5. do you respond to comments? always, without exception. the only ones I don’t answer sometimes are responses to my comments on other fics, if I feel they need no further response (like just a “thank you”). otherwise it’s possible I absolutely will start a whole-ass convo on the comment section (in fact, that’s how I met my dearest of friends, @keidaught). I am obsessed with comments.
6. what is the fic your wrote with the angstiest ending? hmmm, that’s a hard question. most of my fics have happy endings, or at least a hopeful one... I would have to say then All the Ways We Cope With Misery, which is the closest I have to that, as a character study fic that was written about characters, that, at the time, didn’t have an ending in their source material yet. the last chapter is definitely quite depressing.
7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? probably There is a crack in everything / That’s how the light gets in. I would like to think the endings for my WIPs would be even happier, but we’re not there yet, so.
8. do you get hate on fics? never gotten hate, thank god. closest thing was a comment telling me they’ve tried giving my fic a try, but they hated my characterization of Hermione so much they felt like that it was character bashing. to each their own, I guess—either way I had people comment under that comment telling me they like my characterization of her, so I guess it was just this person who opposed it. but I wouldn’t consider it hate, just someone who didn’t agree with my take on the story and decided it wasn’t for them.
9. do you write smut? not yet, but I intend to at some point. just nervous about getting it right, I guess.
10. craziest crossover? haven’t really done crossovers yet! I’ve read a bunch, but none I have written. maybe someday!
11. have you ever had a fic stolen? not that I know of, thank god. but who knows.
12. have you ever had a fic translated? not yet, though it’d be a delight!
13. have you ever co-written a fic before? technically not fics, more of original works, though me and a friend from school did publish co-written stories on fanfic websites way back (not AO3). they’re no longer up, thank god, and I’m no longer in school or friends with that person, so, no more co-written stories in the classical sense, though me and a friend do have a challenge thing going on currently that is as co-writing adjacent as it gets.
14. all-time favorite ship? hard fucking question. that changes all the time. talking fanfiction, the one I find myself coming back to and finding the most potential in writing about is Tomarry (and to a minor extent, Harrymort). though I like them so much I have WIPs hidden in my laptop that explore all kinds of dynamics between the two, from siblings to friends to mentor-mentee-ish. they as characters can be all and everything in my head and still be obsessed with each other, even if not in a romantic way.
15. what’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? oh man. I don’t know. I like to think I’ll get all my WIPs done, but who knows—some of the ones I have planned for after Iron & Decaying Dreams in that universe might not see the light of day (looking at you, Song of Myself and The Best Minds), but I want them out at some point. even if it takes years. I also refuse to abandon Unlucky Streak. that beast will see the light of the day sooner or later, doesn’t matter how long it takes for me to get back to it.
16. what are your writing strengths? character writing and development and overall psychology, backstories, strong plots and ideas, finishing up chapters and scenes in appropriate places, and, as of late, dialogue, especially impactful monologues.
17. what are your writing weaknesses? description of characters, places, and body language, keeping track of time and space in a scene, pacing (overdeveloped ideas or thoughts in prose that border on repetitive and just too goddamn long, and that impact dialogue tags, since I tend to overexplain things, which affect how fast or slow a scene goes), sometimes lack of planning that leads to me writing something first and THEN figuring out where I’m going, meaning I’ll need to backtrack and add things (since I barely rewrite when I should).
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language? find it super cool in fics, and would love to attempt it at some point! since I’m bilingual, that would be a piece of cake if I decided to write in my mother tongue, (Brazilian) Portuguese, but I feel like I would have to retcon some characters (or write OCs) to get to do that, so, who knows if I ever will. maybe some day.
19. favorite fic you’ve written? hard to pick. if we’re talking writing-wise, I think Hope is Hell’s Final Torment (actually inspired by @theonceandfuturequeenoftarts’s writing) takes the cake. I’m extremely proud of that. its sequel/prequel, Terminal Lucidity, also has some interesting moments I’m really proud of.
plot-wise, it’s a split between Iron & Decaying Dreams and Unlucky Streak. Unlucky Streak to me is a super fun AU with a lot of potential, though I still haven’t figured all of it out, but I really love the dialogue in that one. it really felt as I was writing it that I had figured out how to write fun, light, and natural-sounding English dialogue with a lot of idioms and slangs right. not perfectly, but the best I had done back then. Iron & Decaying Dreams is a huge ass project I poured my soul into, that had insane amounts of planning going into it, and that tackles SO MANY ideas all at once. I went above and beyond with making sure every character gets a unique backstory and came up with a specific mythology and ideas that will become more integral in the planned sequel, and just overall busted my ass trying to make some impulsive writing decisions I made in the first chapters make sense in the grand scheme of things, which was NOT easy. it’s not the most interesting plot I’ve crafted (that title goes to all of my unpublished WIPs, which have some of insanest plot ideas I have ever come up with), but it’s something that has a lot of moving parts and I do believe they’re all interesting and will come together in quite a fun way once it’s finished, so, yeah, it gets the title plot-wise.
I am not mutuals with a lot of fanfic writers, nor do I follow a lot of people overall, but I’m tagging @kvothes and anyone who would like to answer this <33
20 Questions (for fanfic writers)
Thank you for the tags, @cindle-writes and @izharmilgram! I'm procrastinating on other responsibilities, so let's have some fun~
Tagging @i-dream-of-libraries, @chaos-bear, @floatingdandelionseeds, @pitzer, @riverxsong-ao3, @tommarvoloriddlesdiary, @thefangirlibrarian, @hikarimeroperiddle and @blackseatwenty (no pressure, only if you want to! ♡♡♡) and anyone else who wants to talk about their fics -- consider this your tag! ♡
how many works do you have on ao3? 47
what's your total ao3 word count? 226,795
what fandoms do you write for? Harry Potter, Yuri!!! On Ice
top five fics by kudos: A long, hard road; Gone bananas; thrown into the nest; refuge from the miseries of life; unfailingly ingenious at having a good time (surprised the cat!Harry fics are so high tbh)
do you respond to comments? uhh... occasionally. Social anxiety kicks my ass and so I put my energy into writing fic instead. I love every single comment I get and reread them any time I need a pick-me-up, but I am a bad author who doesn't reply...
what is the fic your wrote with the angstiest ending? hmm... probably pyrrhic victory, but Capsized is also a contender
what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? considering I write mostly fluff and crack, this is a surprisingly difficult question to answer... I'm gonna go with either if you like it, then... or thrown into the nest. Or maybe don't blame the stork? (Some lovely reader out there is shouting at their screen, "Flaky, you goof, it's obviously ____!!" and they're correct.)
do you get hate on fics? Nope, not really! Some readers express that they wish I'd done certain things differently, and a couple have said I ended a fic badly, but I don't think I've received anything I'd consider hateful.
do you write smut? uhhhh... sometimes. When it's the best way to tell the story I have in my head, then I'll write smut. But it's still a bit uncomfortable to do. I'd like to think I'm getting better at it?
craziest crossover? I'm not sure I've actually written anything that could really be considered a crossover, but A real voyage of discovery is kind of a mash-up of Harry Potter characters in a Star Trek-y world? And it has alien!mort, and I think he's nifty.
have you ever had a fic stolen? A couple of my fics have appeared on Wattpad without my permission, but other than that, no.
have you ever had a fic translated? Yep, a few! (ㅅ´ ˘ `)
have you ever co-written a fic before? Not yet -- I don't really know how it'd work, and I'm afraid to try (¬_¬") Intensely private about my writing before it's ready to post unless you're Jenny. But! I'm counting the Telephone and the Corpse (coming soon) because they're collaborative (in a way) and have been such a major part of my fandom experience!
all-time favorite ship? tomarrymort~ (honourable mentions to sefikura, madohomu, and viktuuri)
what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Fingers crossed I'm not breaking anyone's heart with this, but probably Let's Talk About Sex, Baby. I have some more written for it, but it's been a while since I've returned to it and other projects interest me more. I have every intention of finishing my WIPs, but... there are only so many hours in a day and my energy is, sadly, finite (´•︵•`)
what are your writing strengths? whimsical finger guns! Poignant fluff? Emotions and dialogue, probably.
what are your writing weaknesses? Worldbuilding, continuous narratives (as opposed to short scenes without much context), plot-heavy narratives, description, writing the main characters in true opposition to each other, fleshing ideas out rather than keeping it (overly) brief... I'm sure I'll think of a bunch of other things as soon as I post this.
thoughts on dialogue in another language? I'd like to! I speak French reasonably well, and I'm lucky enough to have some fandom friends who speak other languages, so I'm sure I could beg their assistance.
favorite fic you've written? Hhhhhhh, why must I choose? I'll go with naïve melody, because it still gives me the warm fuzzies. I'm just so proud of the tone, and I really like how that Voldemort comes across.

THE LONG AWAITED PART 2 OF THE “BEANS” FANFIC.
Chapters: One || Two || Three (WIP) ||
Summary: Enemies to lovers with Itto. Y/N is beginning to get used to the giant oni.
A/N: kinda rushed, school started sooo🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
BEANS (Pt. 2):
You lay on your bed motionless staring up at the ceiling. This continues for another what seems to be 10 minutes before turning your head to look at the clock sitting on the nightstand beside you.
2:37am. Great. You needed to get up early in the morning to re-pick those lavender melons for Ayato since they’d been dropped so carelessly earlier on the island. It wasn’t your fault either. It was because Itto had flung you over his shoulder like a sack of beans, causing you to have let go.
Itto. Right. He’s the reason you didn’t get what needed to be done, done. All because of him. That stupid, irrational, uncontrolled himbo. Your mind floats off to the same oni. The one who you spent the evening with yesterday. The one who had asked you to go to his party, and the person who just so happens to be your rival.
“Hmph”, you frown. Who does he think he is?!
You shove all other thoughts but the negative ones back down in your brain, but they can’t help but resurface the more you think about the man.
You pick up the pillow to your right and scream into it before your vision blurs and darkness consumes you.
“Hey, amigo!”
You sit upright immediately, eyes shot open, heart beating out of your chest, quickly scanning the room for whatever or whoever would have said that. Right, left, down-
“Ah!”
“Oops, sorry to scare ya compadre!” Itto says above you. The alarm clock next to your bed reads 7:30. I wanted to apologize for making you drop those lavender melons the other day, so I picked some and thought I’d drop them over.
“Oh, right! If you’re wondering how I found you, I asked one of your friends, who just happens to be the Deputy Leader of the Arataki Gang!”
You rub your eyes, startled and scared with many questions, but ultimately decide that you’re too tired to do anything about it. It’s not like he’s here to hurt you, right?
“Deputy Leader?”
“You may know her as Kuki Shinobu.”
“Kuki?! She gave you my location?-“
You’ve known Shinobu for many years and had heard rumors on the street that she’d joined the Arataki Gang, but to hear it yourself was jolting. Someone like her calm, organized, and collected self joining a gang that was the complete opposite?! Impossible!
“Yeah, she said she knew you from a while back when I asked her.
“Anyway, here’s your lavender melons.” Itto hands you a basket. “I’ll uh…get out of your house now…sorry for startling you by the way!”
After he leaves, you shuffle out of bed to get ready and then attempt to deliver the melons off to Ayato again.
All in all, you’re actually very thankful for Itto’s services…once you had checked the melons for poison.
Ayato thanks you for the delivery, and after, you decide to go out and play with the little kids outside. Some would fly kites, some would play tag, others would play hopscotch, use a frayed old rope to jump with, or play foursquare with a temari.
You’re teaching a group of kids how to weave baskets when you suddenly hear crying behind some food stalls. Telling the kids to continue their craft, you get up to investigate.
Turning the corner, you see Itto shouting with joy as the kid across from him bawls his eyes out.
“AHA! This new onikabuto is now mine! But, uh- hey, kid, you win some you lose some. Maybe you’ll get it back someday…But maybe not, I mean, this onikabuto is pret-ty cool.”
“I-it’s ok Mr. Itto, you won fair and square…” The kid dashes off after finishing his sentence, tears still dripping down his face.
Out of impulse you grab the oni by his ear, tugging his head down.
“I knew I couldn’t trust you! Are you scamming kids or something?! Swindling them of their possessions through an unfair game you have the upper hand on?!”
“I know that’s what it seems like, but uh- hear me out! I won that onikabuto fair-and-square! Plus, that kid agreed to play! It’s not my fault! He was lookin’ for a new beetle, and I NEVER back down from a challenge. So, being the ultimately awesome dude that I am, I told the kid I’d give him mine if he won! But it’s only fair if the stakes are equal.”
You let go of his ear in frustration.
“Hand the onikabuto over,” you say.
“WHAT?! Nah. Nuh uh. You can only get onikabuto in a fair battle!” he retorts.
After long hours of arguing, you spend another few trying to find an identical onikabuto for the kid. You finally find one that seems efficient and battle it against another to test its ability.
The kid is overjoyed to see the beetle. He thanks you kindly, hugging you, jumping up and down in excitement.
The next morning you hear a familiar voice in your ear. Slowly opening your eyes, Itto sits on the edge of your bed staring at you.
“GAH!?”
“Aha- Sorry compadre, little Atsu told me this morning that you found him a new onikabuto! I wanted to thank you. I felt really bad after that battle. I almost let him keep the beetle.”
“It was his to begin with. You’re practically teaching kids to gamble!”
“Ohhhh….” Itto gives a long sigh. “Yeah…I should’ve realized thattt…”
You smack your forehead. “Yeah. maybe.”
“I’ll make it up though! Say, you know a lot of things, can you teach me some skills? Shinobu refuses to teach me for some odd reason.”
Maybe this is an opportunity you think. Maybe you can help Itto find a set of skills he can use to help people more often.
“Alright,” you say. “First lesson tomorrow at 7am. I need to prepare.”
IF YOU WANT A PART 3 SAY “ONIKABUTO” IN THE COMMENTS!

my ask box ate this ask, but thankfully I get email notifications so I still have the actual questions! @fyregrl
from this ask game
Tumblr media
3 - what’s a fanfic idea that you have but haven’t written yet?
Oh gosh xD like, almost all of my ideas? I have bits and pieces started for a lot of fics, but struggle with energy/motivation/focus to finish them. I have a post here with most of my WIPs if you’re curious about any specific ones, and I think out of those the only idea I haven’t written anything at all for yet is Clint meeting Peter after the Hex and recognizing him as Pietro.
8 - what kind of document do you use to write? Microsoft word? Google docs? Straight into the AO3 text box?
Google docs! I love being able to create an outline on the side for the content I have and then I’ll copy/paste the actual story into AO3. Usually for editing I’ll make a new google doc (that way I still have the original version to look at) and may do a few finishing touches while in AO3.
17 - Are there any writers and/or stories that you consider an influence?
“Immediate Family” by Glass_Shoe (ao3 and ffnet), 100%. You can tell from the level of detail with some things (especially the parts about Mrs. Maximoff and the things Peter struggles with–won’t spoil what exactly happens, but lots of angst) that the person who wrote it either has firsthand experience with some of the things in the fic, or knows someone who does. It’s well organized and satisfying to read, and I’d love to be able to write something with that level of planning/detail/originality someday. Also I stayed up all night to finish it the first time I read it and the ending made my jaw drop.
18 - Recommend someone else’s fic! (and tag them if they have a tumblr!)
Well, besides “Immediate Family”, of course... @spidey-sense-projections is a great writer, although I don’t think she’s posted anything on her ao3 yet (we’re working on a fic together for fun, so maybe that will get posted, maybe not?). @fouralignments has lots of well-researched/detailed Peter Maximoff (and Dadneto) fics, and @jadoue1999 has lots of angsty Peter Maximoff fics (and is currently writing a lot for Spiderman—also very good and angsty!) :D

Fic Writer Review
I’m so sorry, I hadn’t seen this in my mentions until now months after the fact- Thank you to @flutteringdreams-matw for tagging me and apologies for being super late rip
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
Sixteen, surprisingly. Quarantine got me writing more than I have in years lol
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
138,410....V happy about that cause writer’s block had me on such a chokehold
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Hmm, published is one fandom, Danny Phantom. And unpublished is stuff I had written for Percy Jackson. So two proper ones.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
We pulling up the stats again~
1. Family Reunion
2. A Green Thumb
3. Vibe Check
4. Ghost Smarts!
5. #Stitch
5. Which of your fics do you want more attention for?
I don’t think I have a preference currently? Any fic interaction is greatly appreciated, thanks to anyone checking them out 💖
6. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Confession time: I am really shit at responding to comments. Part of it was because I had this weird thought that I would get really annoying bombarding everyone with replies 💀💀 Really dumb considering I love getting responses. I’ll try to get better now, prepare for spam 💃
7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Probably I Love You to Pieces - pretty hastily written fic, a bit messy. But you know, it fits the bill with that rather Slap Chop commercial of an ending.
8. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not yet but definitely have some prompts for some stored up in my notes app! So far got some crossovers planned with Avatar, Spiderman, Young Justice, Ben 10, The Flash, Percy Jackson, Gotham, etc.
The most random shit mixed with DP 🔥
9. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Constructive criticism only really, wouldn’t consider it hate. Fingers crossed we stay that way lol
10. Do you write smut? if so what kind?
Nope~
Funny cause I’ve mentioned offhandedly that I like to write fics to people who don’t regularly read them and they often assume that’s what I write. It’s when I realized the term fanfiction is often seen as synonymous with smut when that's not entirely the case lol
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have not~
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope~
13. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Well, in the phandom I enjoy Grey Ghost, but I don’t primarily read ship fics for DP. Here for the lore bb 👻👻
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
“I never will” is a strong phrase. Maybe just, “won’t for a long time.” With the Brewing of a Storm is in the backburner rn, and although I had some continuations planned for Things That Lurk in the Dark, those will have to wait
15. What are your writing strengths?
Well, I have fun writing dialogue and I’m pretty good at coming up with ideas as I write. Improvisation and the fact that I actually really really enjoy doing it.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Many. so many. Biggest ones are probably actually forcing myself to sit down and write, I’m bad at action sequences, and I can be inconsistent. Recently realized I break POV a lot. It's okay though, room for improvement ~
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Uh, I would need to do a lot of research. Gotta be careful with it. Closest I could attempt somewhat okay is dialogue in Spanish, porque es mi segundo idioma. Pero definitivamente no soy hablante nativa entonces....I'll limit it to this answer lol
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Percy Jackson, and those crappy fics will not see the light of day. To the ghost zone 👉🏼👻
19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Tough cause I enjoy them all in their own way. But I got super into Comfortably Numb and then let out a good chuckle at the end of Family Reunion (which I do plan to continue someday lol)
20. What fic are you most proud of?
Comfortably Numb since I’m actually committing to a longfic with this one, which is quite a challenge for me. The response in the comments is also super, super cool. I love everyone’s insight so much. The predictions, the analysis, all really awesome. Thank you for making writing it so much more fun!
Tagging: Hopefully I’m not double tagging here, but @summerssixecho @ave-aria @echoghost1
