all the people who were like "there's no bad blood between niall and liam! look! liam was backstage!"
yeah, you know why he was? because he made it a point to post all over his social media that he was going to niall's concert, was outside of niall's hotel taking photos with his fans (this was also after niall's manager said that when on tour the hotel is like his home and to please give him space), was acting like a damn fool at the concert, again, and again taking photos with niall's fans. he was manipulation the situation for his own gain
so, of course liam was backstage at niall's show because he made it so clear that he would be there and if he wasn't allowed backstage, he could then come on social media and talk shit about niall and niall would be the one to get bad press, not liam. liam would be seen as a supportive friend and niall would've been seen as an asshole if he didn't have liam backstage.
he's being manipulative and he knows what he's doing. ever since the band ended liam has had to use the fame of the other boys to be talked about at all, this is nothing different.
do i know all the details? of course not, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out what liam's doing, but he does it because he knows he can get away with it because his ~fans~ (he has those apparently?) will defend him no matter what.
(also doing ALL OF THIS at his show after he's made fun of niall's claustrophobia and said that niall has REPEATEDLY asked him to stop talking about him publicly is...a choice)

I don't go to 1D (I was cursed with an ailment called good taste), but what's the motivation for falsely accusing someone? Like I know it's attention, but when you falsely, or even truly accuse someone famous enough you primarily get negative attention. That's honestly part of why I haven't made a public statement or legal action against my own abusers (they aren't famous, but they're well liked enough in my work circles that it would be a reputational blow), and even the (ex-)friends I've talked to about it think I'm lying because of cultural differences in how our systems work.
I guess I also don't think being an abuser is an inherent part of a person's character. It's more something you do. And with a lot of bad things you do, it can come about from being in a super screwy headspace. Maybe it's naive of me, but I think it could have even been reconciled, if the effort was put in somewhere. I definitely think what happened to Liam should not have ended like it did, and seeing people celebrate it is a little gruesome and punitive.
I'm no expert, let me just say that first.
But I know there's multiple reasons for making false accusations.
The one I'm most familiar with is spite. My mother spent half my childhood lying to me about my dad, claiming he did all sorts of horrible stuff. He didn't; my mother is an emotionally abusive narcissist with a victim complex. She kicked him out (for the third time) but instead of begging her to let him come back like he did the previous two times, he chose to move on. He met a lovely woman and they've been together for 20 years. My mother is still bitter and spiteful over it and still tells anyone who will listen that my dad was awful to her.
Money and attention are big motivators. I disagree with you in that accusers, especially pretty white female accusers, get a lot of positive attention as well as negative attention. Amber Heard got six years of sympathy and support from both the media and social media, and despite being thoroughly exposed as a lying abuser, still gets a fair amount of sympathy and support now.
She also managed to get a lot of money for her false claims. She attempted to extort Johnny with a list of demands lest she go public, but he didn't give her anything. So she went public. In their divorce, she got 7 million dollars. She also got 1 million dollars in the lawsuit. She was also paid hundreds of thousands to talk about her 'abuse'.
Maya Henry got a shit ton of sympathy and support. Hell, many people's first reaction to hearing that Liam had died was to feel bad for her. Or at least that's what they said on twitter.
Maya has a book out that she initially claimed was entirely fictional but then changed her mind and said it was based on her and Liam's relationship. It's where the majority of her claims come from. I very much doubt she'd sold many copies before. How many copies do you think she sold once it had the attention of millions of 1D/Liam fans?
False accusations can also be used to cover up the accuser's own abusive behaviour, or at least make it harder for the actual victim to be believed. This was another motivator for Amber Heard; she knew full well there was ample evidence of her abuse of Johnny. So she lied and said he was the abusive one and anything she did to him was self defence. Her shitty fans still parrot that online to this day.
There are rumours that this might be the case for Maya, that she was the one who was abusive to Liam, and/or that she was the one who introduced him to drugs, but that's just gossip and hearsay, so who knows.
Unfortunately, it's not looking likely that we'll ever know the actual truth of the Maya Henry/Liam Payne situation. Liam can't tell his side of the story; I only hope he discussed it with his family and/or friends and they might come forward about it. I would if it was my deceased son/brother/friend being talked about like that, especially as her claims likely played a role in his death.

If i had a nickle for everytime I nearly searched for Knights of the Alder fanfiction because I wanted some "someone takes care of a hurt Aiden(most likely Henry)" I'd have two nickels.
This is supposed to be a compliment. Also if you dropped some cute/ hurt comfory facts about our favorite boy I'd be forever grateful(only if you don'tmind of course)
Thank you for this compliment ^^ maybe one day there will be fanfiction for us to read 🙈 (provided that I ever get my lazy butt up to write the full thing)
Here’s some cute hurt/comfort Aiden facts just for you :) (focusing mostly on the comfort part)
when young Aiden was crying his mom, dad of Henry would sing to him to calm him down
he had a rabbit plushie he cuddled with when he was sad
since he was quite an adventurous and playful child he often got bruises that his mom (and after he death Henry) had to tend to and he was being so brave about it most of the time
he has a little eyebrow scar from a hunting accident as a child and he kept asking his family members to “kiss it better” for a whole week after it happened
a sad and/or hurt Aiden loves comfort in form of cuddles because he’s touchy-feely like that
he’s still humming his mom’s lullaby to himself when he tries to calm himself down
he is quite good at treating wounds since he learned it from his mother, so he tends to most of his injuries alone nowadays
it takes a while to overcome his mindset but once it happened he lets Henry care for his wounds again, he’ll also let his new friends do it for him
Halea, Maya and Talon have actually a very effective method to force him to let them take care of his wounds: one person tends to his wound, one hugs him and one berates him for being reckless. Who is doing what exactly keeps changing
as a baby, the best way to make him stop crying (beside singing) was the warmth of being held (sometimes he still craves it nowadays but doesn’t allow himself to)
I hope you enjoyed those! <3

Wolfie’s Fic Recs | Winter Holiday Fics
Tumblr media
WINTER HOLIDAY FICS - I love the winter holidays. Here’s some fics to get you all cozy and mighty chuffed for the most wonderful time of the year.
With Henry
I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves The Magic Of Christmas; give me all the slippery sidewalks, precariously held Christmas gifts and silly little kisses shared with a lover as carolling meets frosty ears. And, who else should that lover be, than ..Henry? By @dancingwendigo
Talking about magic. If you’re looking for love, all you really need is faith, trust and ..A Little Bit Of Magic (dust), by me.
And after being out in the cold, you might want to warm up again, which Henry will happily provide [smutty drabble ahead] - The Christmas Cabin by @writingforhenry
Now. You know what happens when you get baby-fever, right? Just make sure you keep quiet, when you’re visiting family 👀[smutty drabble] Can You Be Quiet by @littlefreya
And to keep the smut going. Have you ever wondered what happens when naughty women sit on Santa Henry’s lap? [smut alert]; Jingle My Bells  by @angryschnauzer
Soon-to-be-dad fluff always gets to me. So, trust me, Henry; this will be a December To Remember, by @foodieforthoughts -- ps. I once did this drawing-on-someone’s-back-thing and it ended up in the poorest guesses/drawings I have seen in my young history 😂
And once he IS a dad, I’m sure Henry loves, loves, loves to come home for Christmas, children koala-ing on his legs and all. 🎶It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, by @penwieldingdreamer
Talking about family visits at Christmas: Chapter 2 Christmas At Cavill’s of @madbaddic7ed‘s Henry x Ria multi-chapter is just that - though of course there’s a catch; Ria has a boyfriend..and it’s not Henry *cue dramatic music*
As a kid I used to dress up our Rhodesian ridgeback (dog) with the prettiest hats, so I can only imagine how Kal would be when he’d get his very own hat. Happy Dog-mas! by @wondersofdreaming
With Mike
Enough sugary sweet fluff; let’s get into some sensual, voyeuristic, Christmas lights bondage love making with Mike. You read that right. Christmas. Lights. Bondage (I didn’t even know I could have such a kink, but here we go). All These Little Lights by @hope-to-hell
With August
And what will our bad boy grinch be doing when he’s invited to an office dinner party? Oh, I’m sure it’ll be a [smutty] Holly Jolly Christmas by @radaofrivia
Tumblr media
With Walter
Christmas tree hunting with Walter. That’s the dream, right? This fluffer-the-fluff chapter from “Safe” can be read individually, if you ask me, so go read: Forever? Or, if you prefer to start at the beginning: Secret Meeting. By @maya-the-cute-ass-bee
And once the Christmas tree is installed, there better be ..eh..breakfast in bed? Winter Morning describes a delectable morning of smutty morning sex with Walter, and..*sigh* let me just fantasise about the beard burn for a moment, okay? By @connieisland
“A delicate blanket made of snowflakes had nestled itself over the streets of Minneapolis.” Starts the tale of this sweet Walter fic, including many annoying (but totally hilarious) text spams from Faye, one messy kitchen and one nearly ruined Covid-Hannukah dinner - I said nearly, there okay; The Great Jewish Cook-off by @inlovewithhisblueeyes
With Sy
Loss and love are closely intertwined when the holidays are near. Let’s take a look behind the tinsel and twinkle and see the way Sy looks at the woman who lost a lot, yet loves the most. On Leave by @dancingwendigo
Need some more uplifting Sy Christmas tree decorating? We’ve got that too! Let me give you A Syverson Family Christmas by @its--fandom--darling -- ps. I never heard of hanging actual popcorn in the tree, so here’s to me learning new things! 😸
And eh..*aherm* need some down-time between all the Christmas shopping? Maybe a lil’ smut is just what you need? The Shop-pocalypse by @its--fandom--darling (again; yes, this winter holiday rec list is pretty much owned by this wonderful, darling! 😂😘)
With Clark
Dear Santa, I’ve been a good girl allll year. Now can I, pretty pretty please, bow-on-top, have a Christmas night with hot cocoa and take-out? Wrap Session is the kind of fluff you may crave in these cold dark days, so let @its--fandom--darling indulge you!
Prefer something a little more dark, Clark and ..tacos? Holiday Interlude 2 by the mistress of dark fics @sapphirescrolls will be sure to get you going.
With Napoleon
Some sad pre Christmas nostalgia turns utterly sweet as Napoleon surprises his ladylove with a little winter escape in White Christmas by @crimsonrae
With Charles
Charles being a loving husband is my weakness; now imagine Walking In Winter Wonderland with him. Delightful no? @its--fandom--darling gives you all the fluff (and if you so feel like it, there’s also a smutty follow-up 👀)
With Geralt
Let’s pull some heart strings with this fic of a druidess and Geralt, winter impending and loving hearts pondering; what will they do? One can tell, Only After The Heart Heals, by @thetaoofzoe
Need some Geraskier to keep you warm? This Geraskier prompt about Jaskier’s winter stay at Kaer Morrhen, will give you sensual dough kneading (pottery scene from Ghost, anyone?👀), banter and utter-butter fluff. By @kueble.
Or prefer Yule celebrations w/ Yen & Ciri? This Witcher Headcannon got me grinning - and that’s not only because of the joke regarding Yen’s unicorn. By @witcherislovewitcherislife
Tumblr media
Bonus: Finishing off, I can’t help but link to the Netflix Christmas Witcher trailer, which is a lot of snow, Geralt cursing and overall sentiment of “SANTA WOULD YOU PLEASE GIVE US A RELEASE DATE” -- I know, it’s no fic, but it’s pretty funny anyways.
--
Artworks by me and thank you dear @littlefreya for helping out with your suggestions! ❤️
Also, many of these wonderful fics are part of #stephschristmaswritingchallenge. Look for that tag if you want more, more, more!
-–
🔥Also: Please add your own recommendations in the comments!! The more fics, the merrier! 🔥Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Have a lovely Kwanzaa! Have a good Omisoka! Happy Winter Solstice! Blessed Yule! (+ any holidays I missed :D)

Analysis of the PR Relationship between Liam and Maya
Okay, Liam and Maya made their relationship official in September 2019 through Liam’s Instagram post:
Tumblr media
(notice how there are only two points of contact on his behalf, the two fingers on her waist and their foreheads. Doesn’t come off very relationship-y to me. I can’t say for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this were photo shopped)
Conveniently, this news came to light a few days after the release of his new single at the time, Stack it Up (shocker, I know). And what did we get? The same thing that happened with Zigi:
Tumblr media
Bringing attention to Liam’s new single and of course, the new up and coming model (sound familiar to you at all?)
Maya Henry
But who is Maya Henry? The first real news we ever get about her is due to her father spending a whopping 6 million dollars on her fifteenth birthday party back in 2016 (more on that later). But what does this prove? That her father is incredibly rich, and has no issues spending millions of dollars on a single night if it means getting his name in the papers. He hasn’t just done this with Maya, he spent another 4 million on his son’s 18th and another 4.5 million on his own 56th birthday, and both somehow made headlines (paid promo maybe?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s not even the best part... They tried to do their own Kardashian style reality TV show but it flopped massively.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Literally the only place I could find it anywhere was dailymotion...)
They have a Facebook page, but most of the videos have been set to private on YouTube so you can’t watch pretty much anything on the page anyway. There’s probably on average 50 interactions per post (and that’s me being generous).
Tumblr media
Maya started her own YouTube channel early 2018, but that didn’t gain any traction either (it’s currently sitting at 16K) and there are no videos on the page at all (I’m pretty sure she’s deleted them off, although I can’t find copies of them any where, probably because no one actually cared to download them).
Tumblr media
I will admit, she was doing pretty decently before she was connected to Liam, had even done a few international covers for magazines like Elle Romania and Vogue Ukraine.
Tumblr media
But Gigi had walked the New York Fashion runway at the age of 18, a feat Maya herself didn’t seem to be nearing. However, Gigi also has a lot of connections that no doubt helped her gain a following (her “friendship” with the Jenners, as well as her connections with Swift and her mean girl posse).
Tumblr media
(If ya’ll don’t see how this was a publicity stunt, I don’t know what to tell you)
But how does an increase of following help you career wise, isn’t about talent? You may ask, and I would have a hard time not chuckling at the question, because talent has nothing to do with it (Miss Gigi “I’m still learning how to cat walk” Hadid is a testament to that).
As for the answer, an increase in following leads to an increase of fans, which leads to an increased likelihood of more people buying the shit her name is attached to - makeup, accessories, clothing lines ect. - and increased viewership that have her (and her ‘best friends’) starring in. *cough* Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show *cough*.
But one thing in particular that really stood out, was Gigi’s ‘relationship’ with one Zayn Malik... you see where this is going?
Why Liam?
Now, unlike Zayn, Liam didn’t really have any bad press he needed to distract the general public from. However, he pretty much only had three different talking points in interviews; ‘his son’, Cheryl and One Direction. Those three subjects no one really cared to listen to anymore, because it was the same bullshit over and over again. Enter new (but also extremely old) topic: a new girlfriend!
It gave the papers something new to talk about (although funnily enough, they would always end the article talking about Cheryl and her kid), someone Liam could use to promote himself a little more. So although the benefits were heavily leaning to her side, there still was something in it for Liam, and she had already been linked to him in the past, an easy set up.
Maya’s Age (this is where you’ll either feel really grossed out or extremely pissed, fair warning)
Now this is where shit gets hella shady. According to articles, Maya has been 19 since last year:
Tumblr media
Using the fact that Maya’s 15th birthday was in 2016 as according to this Daily Mail article detailing all the expenses and a little bit of quick math, it’s easy to see that she only turned 19 in February of this year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, your eyebrows might be furrowed right now, and you may be asking why does her age matter? She’s still a legally consenting adult. However according to articles, Liam and Maya had actually met back in 2015 at a One Direction Meet and Greet:
Tumblr media
Sound familiar at all?:
Tumblr media
This shit has me feeling sick to my stomach (I did give you a fair warning) because this is the second time Liam has been linked in some way to what some could argue somewhat child grooming behaviour. Because not only did he meet her back in 2015, when she was actually 14 despite what the papers are trying to tell you she was 15, he apparently started dating her back in 2018, when she was 17 years old:
Tumblr media
Realising their mistake, my guess is that Liam’s team tried their best to have her birthday changed a year earlier, so as to make people think they started dating when she was 18, to make their relationship more acceptable. But the damage had already been done, and when someone made a thread on their twitter pointing out this fact, some absolute idiot decided to use Liam’s twitter to try and discredit them:
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that neither Liam or Maya were tagged in the thread, meaning that whoever was behind the keyboard would have had to go searching for it, especially since the thread probably only had a few hundred interactions before, they drew eyes to it. (The tinhat in me wants to believe that this was actually a smart move made by Liam to show people just how shady their relationship is, but I highly doubt that fact considering how creepy it makes him look 😒)
And, because people were smart enough to actually read through the thread, they weren’t buying what whoever was running the account at the time was selling:
Tumblr media
It’s not a good look, but I guess any press is good press according to Liam’s team.
Conclusion
Maya and her family are crazy thirsty for attention. They tried to acquire that attention through spending millions of dollars on birthdays parties to gain headlines. Obviously not enough for them, they tried out their own reality TV show which somehow made it to season two before scrapping the whole thing entirely due to low ratings. Maya started a YouTube channel, it didn’t go as well as she hoped and then focused on Modelling full time. However she wasn’t climbing anywhere near as much as she would like, and since her father had no issues paying for celebrities in the past, probably had no issues with paying Liam’s team for him to play boyfriend, and try to recreate a Zigi situation.
Liam’s team saw this as an opportunity for a new subject to be brought up in interviews and headlines and decided to go for it. They fucked up with the age, tried to fix it and just made the situation worse, and hoped eventually everyone would just forget about it.
At least, that’s my best guess

Ok so it's been almost 2 days for me I have been reading what others have said on twitter and tumblr stans, I've had the time to process my thoughts and now here is my thoughts I get...
So some people hold their favs on a pedestal which is why those people are the ones SUPER hurt by what happened. We shouldn't have our favs on a pedestal or we will be let down everytime they make a mistake. They are humans just like us and aren't above others we have all made mistakes heck I've made more mistakes then I can count. We love our favs and need to hold them accountable when they do something they shouldn't but like I said their humans and they aren't perfect. A lot of celebs haven't really been following guidelines bc their so out of touch with reality and have quite a lot of privilege [especially if their white] and that is a problem that should definitely be talked about.
It is very sad and disappointing what happened the last few days both of the breaking covid restrictions with everything happening here in California and how this will negatively [ actually already has negatively] effected both Olivia and Harry. A lot are just so confused and hard and just over all tired of all this. Everything we have had to deal with as of late and now this it's just idk gut wrenching knowing all the things families [including my own] have gone through bc of the pandemic and they do THIS.
I 100% agree with people [mostly mean this next part with the twitter stans] calling Harry out for what happened it should be talked about but my issue is with some OT5s not treating each member who didn't follow covid guidelines the same. Some OT5s say they have a lane but there is a difference between having a lane and having said lane on a pedestal while having another member half out the door on supporting them. Example of what I mean their was an OT5 I saw who has a Niall lane and when we got pics of him at a large dinner party with no one wearing masks they defended him to the tooth and nail but with the Harry thing they were so upset and wanted to leave. Another example was an OT5 with a Liam lane fought tooth and nail when we got pics of Liam and Maya surrounded by a ton of people during one of the protests with neither wearing a mask but with the Harry thing they were very upset with him.
You must hold ALL who haven't fullly followed guidelines accountable bc if your giving "your lane" a slap on the wrist and then seeing flames with another member does something then it doesn't seem like you actually care about the problem at hand and you CLEARLY love and support one over another in a negative way. TBH Zayn is the only member who has FULLY followed covid guidelines throughout this entire pandemic and for that I respect him a lot more.
If your a newer stan this PR pap walk is a nightmare to you it's ok it will be ok bc if you talk to an older stan then they will tell you this is sadly not the worst we've been through. 2015 we had to deal with louis close to tears announcing he was going to be a dad when he wasn't and then had the nightmare of 2016 BG stunting every week and Dani pap tuesdays all to hide the fact that Louis is gay. So this is not the worst and to me it's welp another stunt I hope will pass soon.
Thanks to this shitty stunt they pulled Harry has yet another label on to the list of horrible labels GP or media have on him bc of Harry's management. He was already seen as a queerbaiting womanizer and an arrogant ahole who doesn't care much for his fans but now he looks like a homewrecker who sleeps with people to get movie roles. Neither Olivia or Harry will be taken seriously after this when it comes to movies. So I don't know whose idea it was thinking this would help with movie promo bc this helps no one and makes everyone involved look like a piece of shit.
I know the biggest thing that rubed people the wrong way [besides the wedding happening at all] was Harry looking happy and officiating the wedding so now some think Harry is possibly friends and actually likes jeff. But look at it this way we have pics of Harry with the CEO of Sony who EVERYONE knows is basically the devil in disguise who you don't want to mess with. Jeff's dad has ALOT of power in the western music business and when winning an award they said he was like the devil but we all love him WHAT?! MJ and Prince made it clear how BAD the music business is and many dont speak up like they do bc those who speak out it doesn't go well.
Harry has been in and dealing with the music business for almost a decade joining when he was only 16 he must have learned by now how things work and how he has to act and play apart where it seems like he likes these people bc Hollywood is all about pretending, with fake smiles and fake lives. To think it's not possible he was acting when he has 10 years of expereince of faking being happy in the business is not a stretch. When he was only 16/17 you saw him cry and be insecure now he has learned how to fake being happy and except what is going on.
A lot think it is a stretch that the wedding was all a pre planned thing to help push a narrative but look at BG. At the beginning of BG it seemed crazy to think they faked a story and changed louis whole image to make it seem like he got some girl pregnant and had him fake having a kid to hide his sexuality but it became clear that's what happened. I get called crazy and delusional on other apps daily for thinking that kid is not louis saying they wouldn't do that to him louis wouldn't allow this to happen BUT IT DID bc he isn't free and has NO say it what happens So this wedding being fake just to push a PR stunt relationship and the H is good friends with Jeff narrative is not a stretch.
There are articles that prove Jeff was already married to his wife since at least February 2020, we have more pics and articles about Harry and Olivia then of the married couple, why were there paps or drowns at a small intimate wedding of someone who isn't well known when big wedding of big celebs have no pap pics and if it was a guest list of only around 20 then why was Harry allowed a plus one date and heck why was Harry himself who is just a coworker allowed at this small wedding? If you were the couple you would JUST have immediate family and maybe your closes friend not a coworker and their 3 week gf. I think this was all an massive stunt to push a couple narratives.
One think I never get is the fans who when anything happenes stunt wise with louis they say this is all a stunt, it's fake, he has no control over anything and he's no where near free but when this happened with harry they go he's fully free, start thinking maybe Jeff and him are friends, and saying they wouldn't go to this extreme to push a narrative. NEITHER Louis or Harry are anywhere near free! I'd say the Azoffs have as much if not more power then Cowbell ever did.
My thoughts [more directed towards twitter stans here] hypothetically speaking if this was some kind of wedding ceremony for Cowbell and Louis was there everyone on twitter would say the ceremony is a stunt to make them look like their still friends after Syco parting. Just bc Harry gets promo or more response from GP, and people knowing his name then Louis doesn't mean he is anymore free then Louis. Realistically no one in the industry under Sony is free every aspect of their life is monitored and controlled.
All of what I have seen and read shows this stunt worked well even better then BG did bc I do see some fans who now think H might actually be friends with Jeff, the GP thinks he sleeps with people to get roles, the media are making jokes about this "new relationship", some henries are making jokes about him being a homewrecker. In ZERO WAY was this a good idea at all and helps NO ONE! The people running what happens to harry need to be careful bc if they keep going as they do soon EVERYONE [except henries who think he's hot] will hate him and not want to hear about him ever again. That is if this mess didn't do that already bc this stunt rubbed so many people the wrong way I wouldn't be surprised if people said I'm done I'm leaving I can't with this anymore.
I will say for myself I have been around almost 10 years supporting them hoping one day we will see them be free and happy. They are trying hard, harder then ever to get rid of us. They WANT us gone but I won't leave, I can't go anywhere not when I've been apart of this for so long already. I'm here, I'm staying, I WILL stay until they are out and free even if that takes another 5 to 10 years.

“Meg! Maya is here!” Chris called from the kitchen, he was answered by the thundering of footsteps down the stairs.
“Mai-ma!” Kit threw his hands up, hoping to greet their guest at the door.
“Not yet, buddy, you’ve got another bite or two before you can be released.”
“Mai-ma has dinner. Me want Mai-ma.” Meg led Maya into the kitchen, a bag of fast food in her arms.
“Hey Kitt-o. I have some fries here, but you gotta eat your green beans first. Deal?” Maya’s bright smile had the toddler’s attention.
“Nom-nom, Daddy!” Kit shoved a handful of beans and scraps of chicken into his mouth without so much of a glance at his fork.
“Well, there’s one way to get it down. Hi Maya, how’s it going?” Mr. Callahan stood up and brushed the crumbs from his pants.
“Great, Mr. C. How’s it going with you?”
“Same old, same old. You guys gonna be alright with three babies tonight?”
“Chris, come on. We’re going to be fine.” Meg rolled her eyes, sneaking one of Maya’s fries.
“Big boy! No baby.” Kit argued.
“Okay, are you guys going to be alright with this big guy and two babies? Better?” Kit grinned up at his dad with a mouth full of food, sending Meg and Maya into fits of repulsed laughter.
6:12pm
“Okay, what happens if there is a fire?” JJ looked down her nose at Meg and Maya sitting on the couch, piercing the babysitters’ very souls.
“I will get the kids outside while Maya calls 9-1-1.” Meg answered.
“How are you going to carry three children?” JJ countered. Meg rolled her eyes and stood up, she grabbed Jack by his overall straps, hugging Kit around his waist and picked up Henry’s carrier in her free hand.
“Like that, Ms. Jareau, seriously, we got this.” Maya tried not to laugh out right.
“Jayge? It’s going to be okay, they have our numbers if anything comes up.” Emily  tried to soothe JJ’s worried face.
“Meg and Maya have both watched Jack, Jennifer. They are very responsible.” Haley reassured the new mother as she slipped her coat back on.
“It’s nothing personal, I swear, its just the first time we’ve been out.” JJ explained.
“It’s going to be fine. We’ll have fun, you’ll have fun. Go, get some adult time.” Meg tried to escort the six adults out of the house.
“Yeah, we should get going if we want to make the reservation.” Hotch glanced at his watch. JJ kissed Henry one last time as he lay sleeping in his car seat bucket. Emily gave the sitters one last wilted smile as she led her girlfriend back outside. Kate and Chris were the last ones to slide into their car behind Hotch’s large SUV.
“Was I ever that clingy?” Kate asked amused.
“Worse.” Chris answered, glancing in his mirrors. That earned him a swat to his meaty upper arm.

Derek always seemed to keep the heat at the coldest possible setting overnight, which sent Penelope cringing as she made an early morning bathroom stop. She snuggled back into her silk robe as she shuffled toward his kitchen to start the coffee pot. He had yesterday’s mail out on the counter and she may have started sifting through it as she waited for the gentle hiss of heating water and gurgle of brewing coffee. Ads from a gym and a car detailer were ignored, her man was perfect, thank you very much.
There was an open letter from some pretentious sounding company and she really couldn’t keep her fingers from releasing it from the confines of its envelope.
Final Notice:
Mr. Derek Morgan,
This is the last time we will be contacting you. Your lease is concluded as of November 30, 2017 and the property has since been sold. Please ensure you have made appropriate arrangements to have your property removed from the building by no later than Friday December 1, 2017.
Regards,
Matthew Hausenweir, landlord
Solutions Quartered, Inc.
“Baby Girl?” Derek called as he pulled on a pair of sweatpants from the bottom drawer of his dresser. Penelope squeaked as she shoved the letter back into its trifolded form, earning herself a papercut in the process of trying to hide her snooping. Derek found her sheepishly sucking on her ring finger. “What’d you do now?” He slipped his arms around her waist, pulling her in to inspect her wound.
“Nothing, I’m fine. Did I wake you?” Penelope nuzzled against Derek’s neck.
“Penelope? I know you don’t think I left my mail covered in blood.”
“Blood? Weird, I must have brushed it and gotten a papercut.”
“Brushed a letter that was stacked on the other side of the counter? Girl I know you.” Derek grinned, leaving teasing kisses on either side of her neck. She stomped her feet and huffed.
“Fine! I was reading your mail. Whatever. You! You should be packing. You need to be out by next week.”
“Is that so?” Derek gave her a blasé glance. “And what if I have nowhere to move to?”
“Uh, my place, duh. Derek Morgan, I don’t know how you teach kids when you don’t see the obvious in front of your face. We can finally stop having overnight bags and just live together!”
“Are you sure? I was going to ask you with flowers and things.”
“Oh, still do that. All the flowers and things. But my answer will be yes, because then I can finally not freeze to death at night.”
Derek barked a laugh, “Well, I hope there’s more to moving in together than just control of the thermostat.”
“It’s one of the many perks.” Penelope grinned up at him, pointing to her cheek so he would kiss her again.  She stood on her tip toes in his kitchen and reveled in the fact that every morning would be like this. Waking up with her love and making coffee.
What more could a girl ask for?
Nov. 27 7:02am
Luke had started worrying about another slight against F.B.I since their defeat of New Canaan in the football play offs. The week-long break over Thanksgiving would have been a perfect opportunity for another form of vandalism or theft. He pulled into his usual spot in the staff parking lot and began surveying the grounds for any signs of misdoings. His breath puffed in front of him as his dress shoes crunched against the frost lined sidewalk.
Matt Simmons was sitting in his car a few spots down, listening to NPR and finishing his first cup of coffee for the day. Luke looked like he was looking for something which caused Matt to hurry up his morning routine.
“Everything okay?” Matt called out as he grabbed his briefcase and messenger bag from the back seat of his two-door coupe.
“Yeah, so far.” Luke answered, nodding with his jaw set in concern.
“Thinking something went down over break?” Matt added his eyes to the patrol, his long legs quickly caught up to the soccer coach.
“Call it a hunch,” Luke sighed, shoving his hands in the pockets of his khakis. “You ever wonder why this rivalry started?”
Matt tilted his head noticing a distinct shift in Luke’s posture and phrasing. “I figured it was one of those long running old boys club things, a ‘your dad beat my dad at polo and now you’re in for it’ type of thing.”
Luke grinned at the example, damn it was easy talking to Simmons. “Maybe, at some point, but the egging, the theft of the Submarine, that’s only been going on this year.”
“No shit. Why now?” Matt asked, knowing Luke was building up to something.
Luke didn’t say anything, he just stopped in front of the main doors. He worried his jaw before he finally came clean. “Because I took the job here.”
“What? You used to work there?” Matt didn’t remember hearing anything about Luke’s previous schools, in particular. He had a memory for details and now wondered if he missed something about his fellow new teacher.
“Phil Brooks, the football coach? He’s my, uh, ex,” Luke cleared his throat, holding the door for Matt to get out of the cold.
“This is all the case of a jilted lover?!” Matt’s mouth puckered ruefully for Luke. “Tough break man. You dump him for the job?”
“Well, no, not exactly, but I think that’s what he took away from me moving.” Luke explained, heading towards the kitchen and Rossi’s famous espresso. “Look, I’m not exactly out here, but with everything that the school has had to face, because of me—”
“Look, you did not ask for any of this. I won’t say anything, this was strictly off the record.”
“Hey, thanks, I’m just trying to figure out how to hash it all out with Hotch.”
“Good luck, but hopefully they’ll come to their senses and stop playing dirty.” Matt suggested, he adjusted his bag on his shoulder before heading toward the stairwell. “See you later, Luke.”
Luke nodded, his thoughts swarming inside his head as he went to grab a latte from the Chef.
Nov. 30 9:38am
Jordan made her way to the office to check her mailbox during her prep period. She had done well this year and kept her opinions to herself, after the mess last year she had been holding her breath constantly. Ashley was leaning over her desk purposely making small talk with Grant as he vacuumed. Jordan shook her head, that woman knew full well he didn’t want to talk and couldn’t hear her anyway.
“Morning Ashley,” Jordan gave her a look before walking to the wall of trays.
“Jordan, hi! Hey, did you know that Luke Alvez helped Grant, here, clean up after the egging fiasco?” The blonde smirked as the poor custodian blushed with the women gossiping.
“Well its good to see there still some good old fashioned hard work and kindness out there.” Jordan admitted.
“And he’s so handsome too. Can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t want to snatch him up.”
“Oh no, Ashley, no. Leave the poor boy be.” Jordan warned, thinking she meant for herself.
“What? Please.” Ashley sat back, settling into her well-worn seat. “I’m not quite his type, I’ll have you know.” She made eyes at Grant who was trying desperately to finish his tasks and escape this uncomfortable scenario for good. He had his head down, but the vacuum was off, so he certainly could hear their continuing conversation. Jordan was now on the same page.
“He has got a lot of free time now that soccer season is over with.” Jordan admitted after an awkward pause. “And that’s all I am going to say. If a certain single guy wanted to ask him out, he would probably have a nice time.”
Ashley and Jordan watched Grant wheel the vacuum out of the office and let the beveled glass door slowly close behind him.
“Do you think he is going to do it?” Ashley gushed while twirling a pen into her cheek.
“He’s going to be adamant about not doing it for a good few weeks. That’s why we need to hope Mr. Alvez does it for him.” Jordan smirked.
Dec. 5 12:43pm
Michel didn’t want to walk to the other side of the school to use the staff bathroom, like they had been doing for the past three and a half years. The lunch hour had just begun, so they figured if they ducked into the guys’ bathroom they wouldn’t be intruding on anyone. Michel hadn’t counted on someone who wasn’t paying attention to the class schedule at all. He was in the back of the room, sat on the floor opposite the stalls, vaping.
“Whoa, sorry, uh, do you mind if I—?” Michel asked.
“Piss? Be my guest.” Jake shrugged, he was dazed and staring at the ancient ceiling tiles. Michel made their way to a stall and took care of business, trying not to over think the situation. Washing their hands, they finally caught a whiff from whatever Jake was smoking, it definitely wasn’t jasmine.
“I can’t believe you right now.”
“Yeah, well, I wasn’t expecting you here either.” Jake muttered, standing and tucking his pipe back in his pants’ pocket.
“Don’t you have Mr. Alvez this hour?” Michel spun, challenging Jake, despite the height difference and all that had passed between them.
“Yeah, I do. Sorry, Mom but I skipped Spanish today. Don’t think she would really care, since I have been speaking it longer than English.” Jake dusted his pants off as Michel gaped at him.
“Why are you being like this?” Michel’s voice was so soft it wasn’t meant to be heard. Jake’s inhale and flaming eyes caught Michel in the mirror before they could turn away.
“Just making everything easier.” Jake spat.
“For who?”
“I don’t know, everyone? You don’t want me like I want you, Michel. Might as well keep the lines clear from here on out.” He was hurt, it was oozing through his tough guy exterior. Michel turned and finally took in the state of the boy in front of them. How much they had affected Jake since breaking off his kiss backstage all those weeks ago.
“You know I hate distinctions like that. Nothing is ever one or the other.” Michel countered, leaning against the wall, refusing to let Jake out of the conversation now.
“Yeah, well, maybe this isn’t about making you comfortable. Maybe this is about trying not to break down while I watch you flirt with Iggy next hour or help Cissy with her Bio homework.”
Michel eyes pinched, finally taking in how much Jake saw them in every situation. The actor in them craved the spotlight, but the focused attention of someone was jarring. Especially when it wasn’t unwanted. They shook their head trying to find the words for what they wanted to say.
“I don’t want you in pain, Jake, you have to know that.”
“Doesn’t exactly feel like it, Michel.” He was still stoned, but he swung his arms to do something besides just stand there.
“Kissing me-- you caught me off guard, I had no idea you liked me. Not like that. Well, especially since I’m not exactly a guy.
“You’re beautiful Michel, no matter how you dress or if you wear makeup or not. Look I am as gay as I ever was, but I’m not blind. We’ve been friends too long for you to think I want you to be something you’re not.” Jake had somehow started comforting Michel, why was this so confusing? Michel walked closer, glancing at the door as the noise from the cafeteria increased.
“You scared me.” Michel whispered, tucked within an embarrassed laugh. “I have spent so many years declaring my identity that I hadn’t really accepted my sexuality. I guess, with my father, parents, I just hadn’t brought it up. You know? I’m enough of a burden.”
Jake ran his hand through his hair, his heart breaking again, knowing the pain of being yourself and having no way of satisfactorily expressing it. “You’re not a burden, Michel. If you’re not ready to date or not sure if you like guys—why didn’t you just say something?”
“Because, its you. I never wanted to lose you. You’ve been one of the few people who I can just click with, you know?” Michel’s eyes were glistening now, Jake gave them a half smirk.
“Kind of backfired, don’t ya think?” Jake held out his hand and intertwined his knuckles with Michel’s, arms lengths apart, connecting and calming each other. “Is this okay? Are we going to be able to figure this out?”
Michel sniffled, “Are you going to stop smoking in the boys’ room?” They both laughed at the reference, Jake drew Michel to his chest. They stood there holding each other in the middle of the school day in the entry way of the restroom for a heartbeat. Jake kissed his friend’s head, breathing in their scent before letting go.
“You should get some lunch, I’ll call you later.”
“You coming to English?” Michel asked assertively. Jake nodded, a satisfied yet cocky look on his face.
Dec. 7 4:18pm
Spencer Reid was appreciating the end of fall as the bare trees billowed in an afternoon breeze. The skeletal forms were reminders of change and not a depressing sight to the science teacher. He had driven this route for the majority of his time teaching at the Institute and was still glad he had found the scenic drive in the first place. He didn’t need to rush home, but he could if he needed to. It was nearly dark, and he had a long night ahead of him between his usual Thursday night NA meeting and grading labs.
He couldn’t help but smile as he pulled into the driveway, he could see the cat watching him from the window, fuzzing up the back of the couch. He leaned down and grabbed his satchel and his stack of folders from the passenger’s seat. Someone was burning leaves in the distance, the scent locked into his mind as a Virginia phenomenon as he hadn’t experienced as a desert native. Rationally, he knew it was a common practice wherever deciduous trees were abundant. Spencer slammed the car door shut and double checked the lock before strolling to the front door, it was robin’s egg blue with gold accents.
Voices rolled from the living room, laughter and the television melding together.
“Spencer’s home! How was your day, honey?” Diana cackled from her recliner in the living room.
“Good!” Spencer wiggled his nose before kicking off his Chuck Taylor’s on the mat. “How are my girls doing today?” he called back.
“You get your card skills from your mother, don’t you?!” Elle accused from the couch.
“Uh-oh, what happened?” Spencer’s brow pinched as he ducked his head around the half-wall where his mother and his girlfriend were watching a telenovela.
“She cheats, just like you!” Elle pointed at both the Reids before shaking her head.
“Mom?” Spencer raised his eyes at Diana, she bit her lip and shrugged. “Mom!”
“Oh don’t give me that look, Spencer. I had to cheat to beat you as a kid and now it’s the only way I know how to play.”
“What were you playing?” Spencer plopped down next to Elle and put his arm around her on the back of the couch.
“Bridge.”
“Well, I hope the stakes were high enough to warrant such dubiousness.” Spencer’s jaw pitched forward as Elle gave him an unamused look.
“Don’t encourage her.”
“What? I’m not!” He feigned shock. She pinched his side, doubling him over.
“Hey, you two, old lady here. Leave room for the Holy Spirit.” Diana teased, turning up the sound on the television.
“Mom, you can’t use piety as an excuse as an atheist.”
“And why can’t I? I’m your mother, I’ll do as I please.” Diana huffed, hiding a half smirk. “And I am going to go finish dinner, so you kids can be off to your meetings.” She not so subtly left the couple alone for a few welcoming kisses. Spencer hummed into Elle’s mouth.
“Was she really that bad?”
“I don’t even think she knows the rules, Spencer, I swear.” Elle giggled as he tucked her hair behind her ear. “What?”
“Just happy to see you.” Spencer’s brown eyes turned puppy dog and his hand sneaked up her thigh.
“Still not very smooth there, Dr. Reid,” Elle rolled her eyes before straightening his tie. “How much grading do you have tonight?”
Spencer sighed, “Not so much.” Elle knew by the tone of his voice that he was flubbing his answer.
“Go get started, can’t have you up until midnight again,” Elle pointed to his desk in the office across the house.
“Just one more?” Spencer leaned down sheepishly. Elle groaned, letting him kiss her neck before pushing him on to the floor.
“Homework, go!”

Closure From The Great Streetlight God
its the one year anniversary of this fic. dont call me sentimental. the universe wants maya dead
Pairing: Riley/Maya Words: 2,332 Summary:  Perhaps there's a lesson to be learned from us all about horror stories and miracles in between the monotonous drone of everything else, which is really just to say that if there's some great terrible cliche moral to be learned from being alive and dying, too, then really, it can wait until the end.
PART ONE  PART TWO  PART THREE  PART FOUR  PART FIVE  PART SIX  PART SEVEN  PART EIGHT PART NINE  PART TEN PART ELEVEN
ALTERNATIVELY, READ IT ON AO3/LEAVE A COMMENT
But then he stops you before you can even start, earthy dirt choking you up in the back of your throat, standing in the street outside your apartment in a prom dress that’s a little torn and a little wet and definitely ruined forever, now, and he’s holding your shaking shoulders, and you don’t know if he’s listening to you.
“But that didn’t happen, right?” He prompts you, voice soft, slight nod. You swallow hard. He might be patronizing you. Probably not, though. You think he’s mostly probably just trying to be nice, because come on, it’s Farkle, and he’s known her almost as long as you have, and he cares almost as much as you do, and he’s probably a lot more practical than you are, anyways.
You nod, choked sob and all, and his grip relaxes on your shoulder.
“I know it scared you, but she’s fine, all right? Right? She started going, but they got her back. So it’s okay. And you’re remembering it all wrong, Riles. It’s not like she’s actually been in a coma that long, it’s only been a couple weeks,” he says, breathing slow and even, like he’s trying to teach you how to do it yourself. He sounds awfully sincere.
You breathe, ragged and slow. Your explanations of things may be all out of order, but you’re too caught up on the what-ifs to care, because it may have only been just a little before prom, but what if it was longer? What if it ends up longer? You can’t get it out of your head, and that makes it hard to care about what you are and aren’t imagining in your great retelling of the end of your life.
“It’s not okay,” You express, dragging your knuckle across your cheeks like a child, hiccupping slightly as you try to catch your breath. You must be quite the sight right now, the two of you. “It’s not. Because she’s still in a coma, and she crashed, and they got her back but they might not have, and she could have died, and I wouldn’t have been there, because I would have been kissing some greasy upperclassmen in the corridor while eight Juniors got drunk in the girls room, instead of being there for her!” Your voice cracks against your will, and you shove some hair that’s fallen loose out of your face.
“Riley. Hey. I know you love Maya, but life doesn’t stop just because she can’t be with you every step of the way. She could have died, but she didn’t, and you can’t tear yourself up about what might have happened,” he promises you, but it doesn’t really deliver you much comfort.
“I was supposed to protect her,” you sputter mournfully. “I promised her I would save her and it’s my fault,” you lower yourself to the cement, rapping your arms around yourself. He meets you there on his knees.
He’s more forceful this time, wills you to meet his eyes. “No, it’s not.” He pauses, looks upward, as if asking the big streetlight in the sky for guidance when dealing with a sobbing fifteen-year-old girl, then comes back down after a beat, heavy sigh and all, dark eyes meeting your own. “It was Maya’s.”
You pause, taken aback, wondering if you should punch him or cry, but a weary grin is making its way onto his face. “She stole her mom’s car because she was too jealous to let you explain a misunderstanding. She- she doesn’t even know how to drive, Riley. And, really, doesn’t that sound exactly like something Maya would do?” He shrugs, helpless to the bare truth in his statement, and he begins to laugh.
You take a minute, but then offer a watery chuckle in return, but soon his laughs as echoing, tinny and sharp in the empty night, and before you know it, both of you are laughing on the ground, rain pooling around you, prom dress and all.
Eventually, Monday comes, and you do your best to avoid that upperclassman that you cried after kissing, but it’s not hard. School is coming to a screeching close, and you and Farkle study for finals every other day. On your off days, you visit Maya. Farkle comes, too, if he can. On the days Farkle comes, you talk to him. On the days he doesn’t, you talk to Maya.
While you should be throwing yourself into studying about algebraic equations and the Watergate scandal, you instead throw yourself into studying about the Glasgow Coma Scale and Apallic Syndrome.
You learn about pupils in coma patients, and how the way that they react to light can predict the prognosis for the patient, so you tell Farkle you want to go alone, and bring your father’s miniature flashlight from his keychain.
When you make it there, you wait until there aren’t any nurses in the halls, and then you lift her left eyelid open. You flinch, if only for a moment; it’s the first time you’ve seen her eyes in weeks. You shake your head, as if that will physically save you from the jarring notion in your chest, then take the flashlight and hold it up to her eyes.
You take a painful breath; her eyes dilate. You might start crying from relief, but the blaring of her machines jolts you backwards, and you scurry out unnoticed as doctors pile in, chaotic symphony against the sound of her tachycardic heart.
After a while, you’ve started drawing lines with your uncut nails in the arm of the hospital chair, and the only thing that manages to stop you is the sight of a familiar doctor standing over you. He told you, once, when you thought that the world would end, that his name was Henry.
He looks at you expectantly, and when you say nothing, he starts for you, instead. “She… isn’t dead,” and he sounds almost helpless, looking down at you, eyebrows knitted together. “She should be,” he tells you, after a long breath. “She… by all means, medically… should be dead. And, uh, I’ve been going over it in my head, for a while, now thinking of all of the reasons… any reason, why this kid wouldn’t be dead. At all, but especially her, and especially by now. I mean, she really should be dead,” he strings together words like he doesn’t know what he’s trying to say, what he’s trying to convey to you.
“Why are you telling me this?” You look up at him, voice hoarse. Does he think he’s making you feel better?
“Well- I’ve been going over it in my mind. So have all of the other surgeons, even. And, uh, they all chock it up to something like a miracle? That’s.. what we call it, in science, in medicine, when something doesn’t make sense. When a tumor disappears. When a girl who should be dead is doing surprisingly all right. They’re all calling it a miracle,” he peers down on you, but he sounds incomplete, like he needs to go further, trudge along with whatever else he has to say.
“A miracle,” you repeat, knitting your hands together, not breaking his gaze.
“That’s what they’re saying about it,” he nods, shifting uncomfortably. “But… I don’t think it is,” he looks at you sideways. “I think.. I think that it’s you. I mean, I’m the one who’s been on her case, since the first car accident, to this one. And she shouldn’t be alive, and, uh, she doesn’t… Doesn’t really strike me as a super lucky kid. All things considered,” he tells you.
You stay silent.
“So I… It’s not exactly scientific, or a diagnosis, but I think that it might be you. I think… she’s struggling like hell to not be dead, even if she should be. And I think it might be you.”
He looks from side to side. You wouldn’t know how to respond if words could meet your lips, anyways. So instead, you just nod, and hope that he gets it, and then you wander home, the picture of Maya’s eyes still bright in your mind.
Everyone is worried about you, and you wish it would stopping, because obviously, the comatose girl is the more pressing issue, here. Still, you can’t fight the nagging feeling that you can’t live without her, and you can’t ward off the fear that grows in your chest each time you go to see her. It’s easier with Farkle, but he’s not there, today, and so she’s your only company, and it scares you, seeing Maya be so, so quiet.
Still, though, everything Henry said to you lingers in your head, and you find yourself rambling over her bed, begging her to stay alive.
“Maya, you can’t do this. You can’t be like this. You’re Maya Hart, nothing that a car can kill. It tried once, remember? Remember? But you didn’t die, not then, and not again, when your brain started bleeding. So you’re not just going to- to die, here, in a stupid hospital, because you thought it would be a good idea to drive! You can’t drive!” You sputter, gripping at her sheets, looking at her, broken and bruised, completely still in front of you.
“You shouldn’t have run off in the first place,” you reprimand her unmoving body, “that was stupid! Why did you have to run off, why do you always do that, Maya? Why can’t you ever listen to me, why do you always have to go off and try to destroy yourself?!” You struggle, and you find yourself crying once again, sucking in ragged breaths, halfway past hyperventilating.
“You can’t die here, Maya! You have to wake up, because I can’t do this without you!”
Maya, in turn, says nothing.
You don’t stop visiting her, because you aren’t petty enough to hold a grudge over someone in a coma for giving you the silent treatment. You wish Farkle was here, but he isn’t, and you’re curled up in the chair next to her with a science book, trying to define what a plume is, when there’s a blip on her heart monitor.
Your own heart stops, because afterall, didn’t you always want to be like Maya? And your eyes first go to the monitor, then to her, and your breath hitches entirely when you see that her eyes are flitting open.
You say nothing, do nothing, are nothing at all as she blinks, and her eyes slowly focus in on her surroundings, unfocused and confused. After a very long, very silent beat, in which you are nothing more than a shell of a person, she dramatically whips her head back and croons, as if part of a soap opera: “Oh, Riley, how long have I been out?”
You start crying, and don’t really think that you’ll ever stop.
Eventually, your friendly neighborhood doctor comes back in, and explains to you that the coma had mainly been cause by a swelling in her brain, and her organs needing to heal back to a more functional state. The worry for survival had mainly been infection, or her body giving out and not furthering its healing, causing death or a permanent vegetative state. Now that she’s awake and verbally functioning, with little to no memory loss, her prognosis is good.
“How much school did I miss?” Maya inquires as you toss your textbook towards your bookbag, moving towards her for yet another embrace as the doctor leaves the room.
“Two weeks,” you tell her. “You missed prom. You almost died on prom night, actually. Then the doctor told me that you should be dead,” you give a tearful laugh.
“I almost died on prom night. Cool,” She nods, but she’s playing clumsily with her hands, and you can tell that something is bothering her, because she won’t quite meet your eyes, and it’s starting to hurt.
She looks up suddenly. “Hey, um, Riles?” She gazes at you from her hospital bed. You look at her with open eyes. She could say just about anything right now, and you would take it with a smile. “I don’t think we should... be around each other, anymore,” she rushes out, quiet, as if she’s trying to relay the meaning without actually saying it.
“What?!” She could say just about anything, except, of course, for that.
“Well.. listen, all of this bad shit keeps happening to me, all of the time, and I don’t want you to have to see me get hurt, or die, even, or worse, get dragged into it, get hurt yourself. I just want you to be safe, and the world obviously has some kind of vendetta against me, so…” she tries.
You will have none of it. “Maya. Listen to me. Look me in the eyes. Okay? That is no way to think. That isn’t any way to live your life. Have you had a bad stroke of luck lately? Sure, fine, but that ends here and now. Because you won’t let it. Because the reality is, there is no great being in the sky trying to kill you, even if it seems like it. The universe does not want you, specifically, dead, above all other things. So you can’t act like it does, and succumb to some kind of idea that you’re destined for anything, let alone death. Maya, from here on out, you are going to create your own destiny. No more shitty fate, no more ‘bad-things-for-Maya,’ no more Final Fantasy, no more ‘the universe wants Maya dead.’ Give it up, throw it away. You woke up from a coma, I’ve had enough of this, and you have, too, so it’s over, now, Maya,” you say meaningfully, and she looks almost guilty.
She shifts uncomfortably.
“….Is my mom’s car okay?”
“O-Of course it’s not, Maya. Of course it’s not!”
And the two of you laugh and cry until you can’t feel anything but each other.

- time skip of 3 months-
Y/N and Spencer had a few more dates and they went surprisingly well. She and Spencer had become extremely close friends and he kept mentioning wanting her to meet his team, but she wasnt ready. She needed to make sure they, especially spencer, were not to be put in danger. She had gotten a hold of a couple people who had helped her when she was under the name Maya St. Clair, a couple with a “son” she knew she could trust with her life. Y/N had been trying to find out what happened with Patrick and so far there was nothing on him, no paper trail, no evidence to show he was in America. Most importantly, she felt safe.
y/n had felt better than she had in a long time. She and Spencer had really hit it off and she was glad she went back to find him. Spencer was currently away visiting his mother and y/n felt like doing something to relieve the stress he had been under.
“what would spencer want that he is rarely able to get?” Y/N thought to herself
DESERTS
“To the donut shop i shall go!” She thought to herself
Y/N walked over to a donut shop that she and reid had recently discovered, he is absolutely in love with the sprinkle and chocolate frosted donuts they sold.
“Hey, you’re Dr. Reid’s friend, right?” the girl working the counter asked
"Yes i am, Can i get four of his usuals please?” y/n asked with a small forced smile.
Yes, she felt safer and yes she trusted reid but y/n always knew to be careful with others.
"you are just in luck ma'am. They are the last four we have.”
“Thank you, under Reid please.” y/n replied to the girl when she asked for a name to have the order under, still not feeling safe to ever give out last names.
Just as y/n turns, she collides into a tall blonde and dark haired girl.
"oh my goodness, im so so- hey, AJ was it? We met a couple months ago. I bought the dress and well you were right he loved it. ” you said as you noticed who she was.
"Its JJ and its so nice to see you again, see Emily, i have good taste. Now a lucky man has the hots for this beautiful woman. ” JJ said to her dark haired friend who seemed to go by the name emily.
"I have not formally introduced myself, im Y/N. Do you guys have time to sit for a cup of coffee? My friend isnt suppose to get in from Nevada until about midnight. ” you asked checking your “watch and seeing it was only 9 pm.
"Yeah, we dont have anywhere important to be right now, right Ems?” JJ asked her friend with a warm smile.
The three girls sat at a booth, chatting about their lives. JJ said she was married and had a boy named Henry while Emily was single and had a cat named Sergio.
"I have a cat named Salem, shes a sweetheart. Although she is a ninja and she scares the crap out of me sometimes. ” she said and show them a picture of a baby kitten.
The three girls talked like they had been lifelong friends, catching up after a couple years of being away from each other.
Y/N caught glance at her watch and realized it was 10 until midnight and she had promised to pick up Spencer at the airport.
"shit, im sorry guys i have to go. Its almost midnight and i promised id pick him up from the airport. It was really nice seeing you again JJ and it has been an honor meeting you Emily.” y/n said as she rushed out of the shop and across the street to where her apartment was.
She received a text from Spencer just as she made it to her apartment and down to the garage where her car was parked.
I land in 10, hope you didnt forget about me.
it read. shit shit shit . Y/n thought to herself. She jumped into the car and sped to the airport, luckily for her she always had luck with traffic lights and was able to get to the airport in 5 minutes.
“y/n!” she heard her name being called out before a tall creature engulfed her and lifted her off the ground.
She panicked momentarily before smelling his intoxicating scent she had come to adore.
“Spence. I missed you. and i have a suprise.” y/n said while burying her head into his neck.
She pulled away from him and intertwined their hands, leading spencer to the car.
Y/N knew he had a thing about germs but knew he never minded holding her hand.

Without the distraction of constant conversation, the words on the page began to speak directly to my inner self. They were no long expressing ideas that were simply interesting intellectually, but were talking directly to my own yearning and perplexity. – Karen Armstrong • All language is a longing for home. – Rumi

100+ Love Quotes for Her: Cute, Romantic Quotes She’ll Love
There are relationships, then there’s true love. You’re with someone new, and it’s different. Or maybe, you’ve been together for years. Either way, it’s deep, exciting, special. You want to pour your guts out to her. Maybe you have already. If you’re having trouble putting words to your feelings, don’t worry—most people do.
Here are over 100 quotes to help you put your feelings into the right words.
You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching. Love like you’ll never be hurt. Sing like there’s nobody listening. And live like it’s heaven on earth.
—William W. Purkey
You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.
—Dr. Seuss
Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you.
