How did Maxiel baby bump gate start??

It was an innocent start. Daniel found out he was pregnant and had to step aside from his driving duties and everyone's super happy and supportive.

Daniel went to a bunch of races while he was still in the second trimester but he's small and Verstappens canonically have chonky babies. So Daniel's put on bed rest soon after he crosses into his third trimester.

Monaco is the gp he's allowed at and all of his friends who haven't been able to see him since he's been on bed rest decided they're also going to be at Monaco. And it was fine, Daniel was doing some commentary with Jenson and Natalie. Nico and Ted check in on him all the time and everyone loves to see him waddling around the paddock.

And it was all fine, Max enjoyed seeing Daniel so happy and loved. But Scotty and Josh and George and Lewis and fucking Lando have been hovering and fawning over Daniel and Max is not having it at all. At least when they're driving, he doesn't have to worry about Lando, Lewis or George but he can't do anything about Scotty and Josh and it's like they know. And it irks him.

This is baby fic/Travel or Airport AU and much like that royal Galex I wrote, this would spiral out of hand so so so quickly and I could write 10K of this, so we're doing like quick fire notes.

So, first. Danny is A Single Dad and he's in the airport bathroom and he's talking to his five month old Daughter and is like, "isn't it bullshit that men's rooms don't have changing tables in this airport, also don't tell Gran I said bullshit."

And then this voice behind him is like, hey I will hold your baby if you need to use the restroom, here take my wallet in exchange and the guy is obviously very pretty and obviously very good with Grace (Danny's daughter) and then they find out they're going to the same gate so Max keeps holding the baby and Danny is just like, airports with baby's are so stressful so I will take the help.

They're at the gate together and Danny is like, oh no this guy is very cute and they start talking and they find out they both live at xxxx (whatever the destination is) and Max is like, it was really great that I bumped into you because I was at home visiting my sister and her children and I was very sad to leave, but then I saw you and Grace - and oh, yeah, he's still holding Grace - so Daniel is like, mate, any time you want to come and see a baby, you can come over to mine.

And then Max Asks and he's like, I had her through a surrogate. I always wanted a child and I was just tired of waiting I guess, but I did not realize how hard it was going to be and then they get called to board and Max carries Grace onto the plane and when they get to Danny's seat, he takes Grace from Max, but Max grabs his arm and is like, come get me if you need a break okay?

And obviously Daniel's seat mate is like, oh no. You can sit with your partner and Daniel is about to correct him, but Max is like YES I WILL THANK YOU, and Daniel is like, why did you do that? And Max is like, will you shut up and accept help?

So, they spend like two hours on the plane together and Grace sleeps in Max's arms the entire time and when they land wherever they're going, Max is like do you want to get dinner sometime?

And Daniel is like, do you want to get dinner right now? I mean, there's no groceries in my apartment, but we can order? And oh nevermind, you probably want to get the plane smell off you and go home -

And Max interrupts him and says of course he wants to do that.

So they go back to Daniel's place and they order pizza and Max falls asleep on Daniel's couch and Daniel puts Grace to bed and then wake Max up and Max kisses him at the door all bold like and asks if he can see Danny the next day and Daniel is like, he's young? But, he obviously loves kids and he's so so cute so Daniel says yes and the next day Max shows up with groceries to cook dinner and Grace's favorite baby food that Daniel mentioned one time and somehow this all turns into Max flying to Australia with Daniel and Grace for Christmas that year and all their friends say stupid shit like "maybe you'll meet your soulmate in an airport urinal, you never know".

Ooooh so like it’s the Monaco gp because his doctor has pretty much forbidden him from traveling now that he’s so close to his due date. And Max is hovering and Christian is exasperated because they’re trying to get Max in the garage to start prepping for FP1 and Daniel is waddling around the energy station chatting to the visiting Red Bull athletes.

He’s laughing at some stupid joke Scotty made and Max is forcing himself to only keep his hand on Daniel’s back and not like hug his belly too. Everyone already knows they’re together and he hate Max’s baby— but Max still sometimes thinks that Scotty needs a reminder.

Then fucking Josh comes out onto the patio with a bowl of fruit and a fucking lemonade and Daniel moans in happiness. Josh’s smile is blinding and Max scowls. Christian groans.

They do know! Daniel doesn't hide it, cause it's kinda impossible to hide that he's pregnant. So they do a shared IG post to let everyone know their baby girl is on the way

He still keeps his IG posting embargo but their friends post him so there's videos of him walking around shirtless with his little bump and with his hand on his back.

Or he's sleeping in the couch and one of the cats is baking biscuits on his belly.

With baby bump gate the fans are probably speculating about the baby’s father because yeah it’s being said that max is the father, but why did Lewis drop everything to help Daniel, why is Josh flying out to Monaco from buffalo with specific donuts that Daniel likes, why is George doing baby shopping

Fans are like 'the math ain't mathing' and no amount of posts of baby daddy to be Max doing baby things are distracting people from Lewis bringing Daniel food in the paddock and holding him around his waist.

From Josh at the airport in Enchante with an easily identifiable donut box that then Daniel is walking around with the next day in Monaco while he's walking down the street in his lounge wear and glasses.

Or George looking at baby clothes in a popular baby store and Daniel is seen at the cash register chatting up the attendant.

Harem Verse- ok so the problem with this one, we went through so many different prompts before it became a harem that theres no reasonable way to tag this properly (sorry). They're all drivers, except Josh. Daniel has like 5 boyfriends on the grid- Max, Lewis, Carlos, Charles, George. And then Josh. this started out as like a jealous Max over pregnant Daniel verse and spiralled into its own universe of beautiful chaos

Alpha Max vs Grid Kids - unfortunately I don't remember the actual tag for this one, but essentially its Alpha Max complaining that Omega Daniel is spending too much time taking care of his grid kids (Oscar, Liam, Jack, Logan and Zhou i think) and neglecting him and then eventually became the grid kids claiming Max as their grid dad

Adore You Verse - Mafia/Organized Crime AU. Daniel and Max are high ranking members of their organizations. Action fics, 95,523 words. Daniel deals with a lot of isolation and grief in parts

Reclamation AU - Angsty, slow burn, getting back together. Alt universe where no one is a driver. Max and Daniel had a really bad break up, and they eventually make up. 73,191 words

Mob Wife Daniel - Max is a bodyguard, Daniel is the wife of Chr*stian, a high ranking mob boss. Originally an poly pairing but for obvious reasons we strayed from that and actually kinda strayed from this au all together. Mobwife Daniel is very unhinged and dangerous and Max loves it
