Lucinda had gotten out of work and was off tomorrow, so she fully intended on enjoying herself--which meant pizza and wine up on the rooftop pool. She'd gone to the liquor store as she got out of work and got a bottle of wine and then picked up a pizza for herself, looking forward to heading upstairs when she got to the building's doors and realized her keys were buried in the depths of her bag. Great.

Seeing someone walking towards the doors as well a moment later, she took her chances and put a bright smile on

"Hey! I swear I live here, I just can't get to my keys. Think you can let me in? I'll totally bribe you with a slice or two."

Darcy climbed the rest of the way up the water tower and dropped her backpack off her back and knelt by it to start digging through it. "My sister and I come up here to smoke weed sometimes. We saw a UFO while we were up here last Halloween. Maybe we'll see something tonight too." Darcy wasn't going to admit that they were high when they saw said UFO, but Max didn't need to know that bit of information. "I rolled a joint earlier too."

“Yeah, if I can reassure you in any way—you didn’t miss much, Well, aside from the steady stream of new faces. But I suppose that’s what happens when the bigger cities become too expensive to live in.” He adds before shrugging and taking another sip from his glass of liquor.

He gives a small nod in response to the question. “Yeah, my wife,” he says, the weight of his words sinking in. “My late wife,” he corrects himself. “She loved these kinds of things.” It's likely the reason he still finds himself attending them all these years later—because of her. “I’ve never really been a fan of them myself, though, too many people, I’m still trying to figure out how everyone and their mother managed to get a babysitter on the same night.”

"Yeah, that's a good word for it." Max nodded in agreement and looked around the room. He felt overwhelmed with all the people, but it was exciting to see it come together, too. "Oh no, it's not. I've missed the last few years though. It's grown a lot." He took a sip of his drink and tried to think of the best way to move the conversation away from himself. "What about you? Been to something like this before?"

"It's a required science credit class, last semester I did biology and society so it was so bad minus the labs but this one was supposed to be easier but the lectures are painful boring and the fact I have to watch them to get notes is even worse." "Salmon? No, I'll pass." He lifted a hand and waved it off with a grin. The thought sounded worse the more he thought about it. He couldn't imagine anyone actually wanting to drink it. He took a step further and continued to look at the different bottles. Some seemed interesting, but nothing enough for him to grab and look at closer. "Is that just for fun, or one you need? Should have checked that website to see the reviews first."
