RAJAN On 27 Nov 1988, a group of LTTE cadres gathered at a military base to mark the death of the first LTTE cadre, Lt. Sankar (1982).

Three years later, after the IPKF was forced to withdraw from Sri Lanka, the first மாவீரர் நாள் (Maveerar Naal, Heroes’ Day) was publicly held in a துயிலும் இல்லம் (thuyillum illam, resting home).
