A funny feeling took over her upon hearing his name. "Matyr." She couldn't help but test it out on her own tongue, confirming how the odd sensation flourished inside her. As if there was some sort of power tied to his name and to the act of speaking it.
Filing those thoughts to be examined later, she took the offered card and glanced over it for a second before safely storing it away. "It surely doesn't happen often under these circumstances, but..." Angel wasn't one to lie for the sake of pleasantries in the first place, but their meeting felt significant in a way she couldn't quite pinpoint just yet. "It was nice to meet you." As nice as a shady alley allowed.
Meeting someone powerful who wasn't hostile towards mutantkind didn't happen every day. It would be nice to remain in good terms with him, but if that wasn't possible, being aware of him and his line of work would be useful too. "I'll keep in touch, handsome."
"Sounds like a fair deal." He didn't like the idea of tracking some poor kid down and having to drag him away for who knows what sort of punishment by the law. Being Matyr, he wasn't blind to the fact that not everyone was so welcoming of mutants and that not every cop would treat them the same as everyone else, regardless of what powers they had.
Or, conversely, if it didn't even reach that point and broke out into an all-out brawl between human police and mutants. Either way, nobody walked out of it well and the god certainly didn't want to be in the middle of it -- - or part of the cause. He would get a few extra names to add to the punishment list, but that wasn't exactly what he was looking for.

"Just what I was thinking." He agreed with a nod of his head, rummaging through one of his inside jacket pockets to find one of his own business cards, the name 'Matyr Han' at the top with his details below. "Swap you, Angel." He smoothly smiled cheekily, taking the card as he held out his own in return. "Name's Matyr."

Ooh, the more he elaborated on the description, the more nervous she got. Thankfully, those type of feelings never came across on her face. What she couldn't help was looking at him more warily, though. So far, Angel believed her gut feeling. He didn't seem interested in harming whoever the mutant who had the item he was sent to retrieve was. But in her eyes, that only meant he was powerful enough to show mercy.
Tumblr media
"Tell you what." And it was in everyone's best interests to keep things calm. "Give me a way to get in contact with you. I'll give my kids a shakedown and get you your package back if any of them was responsible. And if they weren't involved, I'll let you know too." Even if she didn't have the best rapport with the academy's teaching staff, she got along well with the kids for some reason. And it would be better coming from her than a stranger.
Retrieving one of her cards from her wallet, she held it out for him between her fingers. "I'm Angel." And offered her name as well since it wasn't written anywhere on the card. It was embarrassing enough to have to say it aloud, she wasn't about to order a batch of business cards with it.
Tumblr media
"No name at the moment." That was the trouble with mutant kids and teens, maybe even adults too, so many of them were displaced, some without homes entirely, or living elsewhere under someone else's roof. Matyr had heard about the likes of Professor X and his fancy school that was full of them, though while he knew that, he also wasn't keen on waltzing up to the front door when who knows what sorts of mutants were in there that could call him out on what he was in mere seconds.
He'd rather not start a war between himself and mutantkind, or draw more attention to himself or them.
They deserved some peace after the way the world seemed to be treating them. He knew better than most how it felt to not fit in.
"Teen, male, maybe some kind of teleporting ability. Could be something else though. Hard to tell these days will all the gifts going around." Though he couldn't deny that he did find them rather interesting. "They make this stuff look easy." He smiled a little, though it probably leaned more towards a smirk. "I don't want him to get in trouble, don't get me wrong, the money's always nice and all, but... I'd prefer this stay in my hands than end up on the desk of some brainless yahoo who wouldn't think twice about blowing the poor kid away. Or any of them, for that matter."

Ah. Straightforward. Good. She wasn't expecting that level of honesty, but it was much appreciated. When he went on to describe who he was looking for, however...
Mouthy was a common trait. Unfortunately, nicking stuff was too. But when he called his target a kid, Angel started feeling slightly nervous. Hopefully it wasn't one of her kids. They were all supposed to be smarter than that, but she couldn't help the worry even if she would never admit that to anyone, especially now that she caught herself thinking of Xavier's students as her kids.
Tumblr media
"Got a name to go with it, handsome?" She asked outright, hoping for the best. "I'm afraid there are a number of mutants going around doing that sort of thing."
Tumblr media
"All part of the job." Matyr commented cooly, at least relieved that the woman had some semblance of a sense of humour about her. It wasn't always that common these days, although he may have to admit that his own was probably more akin to snark than actual humour.
"The non-human kind. Mutant, specifically." It wasn't the first time he'd dealt with mutants, sometimes pretending to be one of them since he had a few abilities up his sleeves as well. Outright telling people he was a God wasn't something he really wanted to end up in the wrong hands.
"Real mouthy one, apparently. Took something that doesn't belong to him... let's just say the owner wants it back and is willing to pay a pretty penny to get it. Preferably within legal means... within reason." That was where he came in. "And, for what it's worth, this isn't the first time this kid's description's come up. Ring any bells?"

Her lips twitched into an almost smile before she caught herself, only to part when he described the two of them to a T. "Beat me to it..." The comment slipped under her breath when he pointed it out as well.
"That depends on what kind of trouble." Angel couldn't explain how or why, but her instincts were screaming that he was different. Beyond human. Beyond even herself and her man-made mutation, perhaps. Was he a born mutant?
"If you give me specifics, I might be able to help." After all, she too was in the area looking for something.

"Chatty, aren't you." The deity mused to himself as he took another glance around them, double-checking he wasn't missing anything while standing there.
"Seen anything unusual? Someone loitering around, you know the types, the sort of person who's got trouble written all over them." A smirk pinched at the upper corner of his lips. "Besides you and me, I guess."

Someone she didn't know using her codename? In her experience, that was an invitation for a fight more often than not, but she was never the type to throw the first punch anyways.
"Go on." He was free to ask his questions. Whether she could or would answer them was another matter entirely.

"Easy there, I'm not exactly itching for a fight right now. Just wanted to ask a few questions."
