The only reason why people gas up the English version of La Seine is because Sean Lennon is John Lennon’s son and I stand by that as someone who grew up with the English version and then went to the French one. Like whenever someone claims the English version is better they always say it’s because “Sean Lennon is the son of John Lennon” like he has a pretty voice and whatever but his voice doesn’t blend with Vanessa’s like -M-‘s. Sean constantly sounds like he’s singing over Vanessa and you can’t even hear Vanessa’s backing vocals during Francouer’s verse or when they sing together and not only that but it sounds like Sean is singing over the instruments as well. Like I like the English version but the French version is vastly superior.

Listening to both versions of La Seine to see which one is actually better and I just don’t think that Sean Lennon’s voice fits with Vanessa’s as well as -M-‘s does. Sean’s voice overpowers Vanessa’s too much while -M- sounds like he’s actually singing with her. And the lyrics are way more heartfelt than the translation like in French Franceour’s verse of the song is talking about how he loves watching Lucille on the stage and he’s strictly fawning over Lucille because of the song’s double meaning with La Seine and La Scène like my heart actually flutters at his verse

And the bridge verse doesn’t really make sense in English. Like the ones about them being saved and learning to forgive when in French it’s about them on the bridge together talking about how sweet the air is around each other and their reflections being perched on the bridge
