I Am God’s Dream… I just got this book in the mail. I’ve read it several times. In one sitting. I love it. It’s the sweetness my soul needs today. There’s a line in it that keeps twirling about my head & soul. It says, “‘Cause God made me ME, & I can’t wait to see the dream that God dreams, the dream God calls…me!” I think about how all of us are a dream of God’s. How we often don’t behave like someone’s dream. How often we kill beautiful dreams about us. How 21 God formed dreams are no longer with us out of Uvalde. How 10 more were stolen from us just days before in Buffalo. It seems that we like killing dreams. Snatching them out of the sky & atmosphere. Making them exist no more. The thing about dreams is that they persist. Dreams carry form, memory & emotion. Even though they get a little fuzzy as the day goes on. They get soft around the edges of recall. But, at any moment, you see something. Smell something. And, the dream comes back to visit. There are parents & loved ones today, that are throat deep in dream recall mode. Their dreams, that they loved, were stolen like a Buffalo Soldier. Years ago, I sat in the lobby at my doctor’s office. I looked at every person there. Old. Young. Dirty. Clean. Black. Asian. White. Mental deficits. Brainiacs. Suits. Dresses. Flip flops with socks. I sat there & looked at each one of the people in that room. I mean, really looked at them. I considered them individually. With every person I thought about how someone celebrated the day they found out they were pregnant with them. Someone stared at them in wonder, coming home from the hospital. Wondering how they got so lucky to have brought this baby into the world. If you sit with the sheer brilliance of every soul. That they are someone’s dream. That they are God’s dream, there’s a lot less awful we’d be capable of. Killing dreams wouldn’t even be a thing. We wouldn’t have to beg for legislation changes. The legislation would already do everything we feel…protect the dream. Protect God’s dream. All of our dreams. We’d be the most protecting dream fools you ever did see.
