Matthew view(story 1)
Tumblr media
The day that changed my life begins in a fine afternoon. I was doing my daily amount of collecting taxes, we have a bad reputation for the city’s people since they thought I will always cheat them but in reality, I was just simply doing my job. I had a great life but then my friends were all tax collectors or what the people would call scumbags. So, I had money and everything, I just lacked in the amount of required socialization I needed. Until, a guy called Jesus came and changed my life. So, I was doing my daily required number of activities which are collecting taxes but oh boy did something weird happened. The guy called Jesus was approaching me saying: Hey Matthew, join us! Immediately I had 2 decisions that would change everything, which is to stay at my booth and keep doing my tax collecting or to go with this that knows my name. Of which I immediately choose to be with this guy called Jesus. Apparently, the guard who was near my booth saw what happened and immediately stopped me from approaching him, he said: Bro, you sure? You could be having a stable life, of where I will guard you, and you will soon be rich. But then I said that it isn’t always about the money bro, it is about my life. And I went and joined this random guy called Jesus with a lot of his random followers that I soon will know about them. Now after what happened, I decided to host a large feast for me, my friends and my newly-had friends which I greatly enjoyed till the day I went to heaven. Then Jesus heard some of his followers were asking why they were eating a feast with these scumbags (which are me). What sadly they didn’t know was that I started the feast because I wanted some of my good friends to be a good fellow like Jesus so we must first follow this Jesus by letting him tell us some of his wise words and he did by sharing a good sentence which were: Do not sick people choose to not go to the hospital? Of course, no, so that is why I am here, to guide the sick people to being healthy. And those words were the reason he came and say hi rather than ignore me. I take those words by hands and appreciate them.

i feel so worthless and i'm scared God is angry with me or doesn't like me or hates me because i'm always screwing up and sinning and failing him. how can i stop feeling like this?? i almost just wish God would kill me so i wouldn't have to sin anymore
There’s nothing you can do for God to stop loving you don’t forget that. God’s love for you and me is so perfect, it’s never ending, it’s never conditional, it’s never out of pity, it’s never flawed, it’s always been the same the days before you were born, it’s always been the same yesterday, today, and it remains the same tomorrow. The question is do you believe it? If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, then every day you must maintain it by accepting Him again and again. Are you actually confessing He is Lord of your heart, life, and soul? When you repent and ask forgiveness of your sins, are you proclaiming Christ as your Savior and Lord, or are you more worried that God didn’t forgive you? Give everything to Him, put your anxieties on Him, your worries, and fears by focusing on Him and not on yourself. PRAISE HIM. Are you praising Him enough? Are you praising Him more than you pray for forgiveness? PUT THE FOCUS ON HIM AND NOT ON YOURSELF. WORSHIP HIM WHERE YOU ARE, RAISE YOUR HANDS, BOW DOWN,  KNEEL, FALL ON YOUR FACE IF YOU HAVE TO, HUMBLE YOURSELF BY GETTING LOST IN WORSHIPPING HIM. THAT IS THE SUREST WAY TO SNAP OUT OF IT AND GET OVER YOURSELF. THIS WORLD IS NOT ABOUT YOU. THANK GOD IT’S ABOUT HIM.
You are going to sin no matter how much you strive to live perfectly. There’s a reason we are not perfect and God is. He wants your constant awe on Him and not on you or other people. I know you must feel overwhelmed but you know as much as I do that life is a rollercoaster. It’s up the hill and down again. No one can stay up the mountaintop for too long. You must learn to recognize moments when you know its time to come down again as moments when God is strengthening your faith and wisdom again. Come down the mountain gracefully trusting God, don’t fear the valley because it’s part of how God is molding you. He loves you so much that He doesn’t want you to stay in one place. He loves you so much that He is also Your guide.  TRUST HIM BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU. SHOW HIM YOU TRUST HIM THROUGH PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING. SHOW HIM YOU TRUST HIM BY DOING WHAT YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO DO TO STRENGTHEN YOUR FAITH. TRUST HIM AND NOT YOUR FEELINGS. YOUR FAITH MUST BE ABOVE ALL FEELINGS.  BUT IF YOU SCREW UP AND FORGET THAT BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT PERFECT, THEN BE SINCERE, REPENT, TURN AWAY FROM YOUR SINS, PRAISE GOD ALL OVER AGAIN, RECOMMIT YOUR LIFE TO HIM, SHARE THE WISDOM YOU LEARNED, THAT’S WHAT BEING CHRISTIAN IS ALL ABOUT.  IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU DON’T FORGET. STAY HUMBLE. YOU WILL BE ALRIGHT.  I’M PRAYING FOR YOU.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Matthew9:13 Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Ecclesiates 7:20 Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.
Psalm 18:30 This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
Titus 2 11-14 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Be gracious to "bad people"
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Matthew 9:9-13 NIV)
Jewish collectors were considered traitors of Israel, as they helped the Roman empire collect taxes for Caesar while helping themselves to the money. They were the rich and notorious, and often cruel to their own people (think loan sharks). While the majority of the Jews lived in poverty, they were wealthy extorters. If any body needed to be taught a lesson and pay for their wrong doing, it is them. Tax collectors were the epitome of sin, the scorn of society.
Yet, Jesus called a tax collector to be his disciple. Rabbis in those time tended to chose the educated and reputable as disciples, usually people well-versed in the scripture. Jesus had already defied the norms by calling two fishermen Peter and Andrew to follow him. But… this one was way too controversial. Not only that, Jesus went right into the den of tax collectors. He reached out to them, befriended them and associated himself with them!
There is likely at least a somebody in your life whom you ever considered undeserving of kind treatment. Perhaps Jesus is saying to you what he said to the disapproving Pharisees - “Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice.”
Now, it is interesting to note that if we ever think of ourselves as more righteous than somebody else, the call of Jesus bypasses us to reach that somebody else. To be bypassed by God himself is a terrible thing to happen to anyone, don't let it be you.
So, be gracious to “bad people”. Know that you are one too.
