Probably part of why he's so fucking piss off is because he can't control Lucy anymore. Apparently he's closed to Matthew and I'm sure he's smarter than Lannister! So, if Lucy married him then he could have control over both of them, probably why he arranged the marriage between both of them. But now he has nothing.

The way he talks about her! 😭. But eat shit Bolton. Fucker. I hate him more than Matthew by far.

Matthew Lannister

A/N: Warnings for depictions of general sexism and sexist attitudes and references to sexual content. Matthew and Victor suck, but what else is new.

"She was supposed to be mine," Matthew fumed, pacing back and forth across the great hall of Dreadfort.

"Yes, she was," Victor Bolton agreed, rubbing a hand across his face. Thomaryon Targaryen had departed less than hour ago on his dragon, bound for King's Landing with his new wife. Matthew had watched with his hands clenching into fists at his sides as Thomaryon had helped Lucy climb aboard the huge black beast, making sure she was comfortable and situated in the saddle before pulling himself up to sit behind her.

Lucy had leaned back against her new husband's chest, and when he murmured something into her ear with a coy smile, she laughed brightly. Thomaryon grinned, and pressed a kiss to her temple.

It was clearly not the first time that they had done this.

Rage bubbled in Matthew's blood. If the prince had been taking her out on his dragon regularly, who knows what other things they had done.

"Did you know?" he rounded on Victor, suspicion flaring.

"Know what?"

"That Thomaryon was bedding your daughter."

Victor met his gaze unflinchingly. "If I had, do you think that I'd have let her live?"

Matthew couldn't really argue with that. "How long do you think…?"

"I'm not sure. A year? Maybe a little less." His lips pulled back from his teeth in a snarl. "I should never have allowed him into my home."

"You never once suspected?"

"No..." he hesitated, and sighed. "Maybe once or twice," he conceded after a moment.

"Word is he's been coming around here often."

"He always claimed it was for princely duties. I never had enough reason to doubt him. He's clever, that one," Victor sneered. "And I never thought that he would actually be all that interested in her."

Matthew raised an eyebrow. Even he could see that Lucy Bolton was beautiful. But Victor's disdain for his eldest and only daughter was legendary.

"This is a slight I cannot possibly ever forgive," he seethed, starting up pacing again. "He has...they have humiliated me."

"My deepest apologies, Matthew--"

"This is your fault!"

Victor frowned. "He took her without my consent as well."

"He has spat on both our Houses."

"Yes."

Matthew looked out the window, where snow was beginning to fall heavily. It was a shame. Lucy Bolton was very beautiful. And he had been looking forward to breaking that famously strong will of hers.

His jaw clenched with the memory of the way Thomaryon’s eyes had gleamed triumphantly as he stood there in the very hall they occupied now, and shared the news that he had wedded Matthew’s bride the previous night. Even as the lords in the room started bellowing in shock and rage, the prince had remained calm, though he kept his wife tucked protectively against him, eyes sweeping across the room as if challenging any of them to dare lay a finger on her. 

“We will get this ridiculous farce annulled–” Victor had roared, red in the face.

“On what grounds, Lord Bolton? Her mother and brother both willingly took your place in giving her away, and witnessed the vows we made under the heart tree. And the marriage has been consummated.” Thomaryon’s eyes darted over to Matthew, a smug smirk pulling at one edge of his mouth. “Several times over, might I add.”

Lucy’s cheeks went pink, but she looked to be biting back a laugh, tucking herself closer to the prince’s side.

How long had she been fucking him for? Had he taken her maidenhead before they were married? Matthew could only assume that he had. A sick feeling of wrath and disgust clenched in his belly at the thought that he’d almost married a soiled woman. The mental image of Thomaryon inside the woman who was supposed to be his nearly caused him to go blind with fury.  

He shook his head to try to clear it. "Why now? Thomaryon's political prowess is legendary. He had to know how this would be taken by both our houses."

Victor shrugged. "I cannot possibly know."

Matthew eyed him. “Maybe he got your whore daughter pregnant.” A little Targaryen bastard growing in Lucy’s belly would be explanation enough as to the real reason Thomaryon had come barreling so hastily up north to claim her. No way could she have passed off any child that resembled Thomaryon as Matthew’s. 

“Maybe. I suppose we’ll know for certain in a few months.”

“We cannot let this stand.”

“I agree.”

Matthew pursed his lips, the beginnings of a plan forming as the gears in his head started to turn. “We have to inform the other houses of what has happened. I hate to sully you and your house, but…”

“Lucy is no daughter of mine,” Victor repeated the words he’d spat at her during the confrontation in the hall. “This house no longer claims her. She and her bastard husband are not welcome here. Slander her as you like. You speak only the truth, after all.”

Matthew nodded. He would begin drafting letters to be sent out to their closest allies and the realm’s biggest gossips tonight. It would not take long for word to spread through the realm that the new princess was a slut and the prince a conniving devil who had seduced and stolen another man’s betrothed. 

It would take time, but he would have his revenge. On both of them. 

After all, a Lannister always pays his debts. And Thomaryon and Lucy Targaryen had just incurred a particularly large one.

Kili [Aiden Turner] had a strong start against George, the Sheriff of Nottingham [Alan Rickman], but the race tightened about halfway through, and the Sheriff was able to pull through a stunning last-minute victory. Despite his brutal focus and discipline and grim sense of humor, Uglúk [Nathaniel Lees] suffered a crushing defeat under the cloven hoof of a greater and sexier evil, Darkness [Tim Curry]. We began the Round with 3 of Each, but only one of each survived the round.

While Beowulf [Gerard Butler] bested King Arthur [Richard Harris] with a handy but respectful margin of 56.8%, Sean Connery's Arthur was unhorsed by Eomer [Karl Urban] in what can only be termed a crushing defeat, with a margin of 84.4% of the Vote. Only Bradley James's incarnation was able to defeat his opposition, Prince Henry [Dougray Scott], who, though strong contender, proved no match for Arthur's winning smile.

On the Robin side, our last Robin standing, is Cary Elwes, who defeated Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan with a tidy 70.8% margin. Richard Todd's stunningly attractive but lesser known Robin was defeated by the only remaining Son of York, Richard III [Aneurin Barnard], while the iconic Errol Flynn iteration was unhorsed (rather ironically) by one of the most appallingly unjust and underhanded aristocrats in the lists, Adhemar, Count of Anjou [Rufus Sewell]. We can neither confirm nor deny allegations made against the Count of cheating, nor the veracity of the rumours circulating that the Count's rather costly saddle was stolen from his tent at the end of the day while Adhemar was enjoying a flagon of wine with fellow victors Sir Guy of Gisbourne [Basil Rathbone], Sir Guy of Gisborne [Richard Armitage], the Sheriff of Nottingham [Alan Rickman] and His Royal Highness Prince John [Oscar Isaac].

Our third Sir Guy [Michael Wincott] did not join them, as he rather unfortunately lost his match against Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe [Anthony Andrews] and, after a rather unpleasant exchange with his cousin the Sheriff, preferred to drink in the company of a different, more polite Sheriff [Peter Cushing] (who also lost his match against the Hound [Rory McCann]) and his friend Prince Prospero [Vincent Price].)

But I am sure some of your are curious as to how the Master of Revels' list of Secret Favourites is faring. Well, I can tell you, it sustained some heavy losses this round, though a still rather healthy 34 remain in the competition. Aye, but at what cost?

Game of Thrones AU - Lucy x Tommy

As with The Hunger Games AU, it'll be awhile until I am able to actually turn this into a full fledged fic. So I'm gonna give you all some of my ideas here instead. Obviously if you don't want to be spoiled for when I do eventually write a full thing out of this for them, don't read ahead.

Lucy Bolton

Firstborn of Victor Bolton and Genevieve Tully, the eldest sister of Theodore, Elliot, Patrick, and William Bolton.

Despite her father's best attempts, Lucy maintained a tomboyish spirit.

A lover of horseback riding and archery, she could often be found riding amongst the woods surrounding their castle of Dreadfort, with her several trusty dogs in tow.

She showed an interest in ruling from an early age, but was mostly shut out from anything to do with it by her father.

During the particularly cold seasons, her mother would take her on trips with her to Riverrun, hoping that the influence of her family would help to lessen the damage her father's cruelty would have on her.

Lucy became close with her Tully family members, to the point that she identifies more as a Tully than a Bolton.

Tommy Targaryen

The second Targaryen son

Tommy was often treated as a black sheep, both by some of his family and the common people, due to him lacking traditional Targaryen looks.

Rumors often circulated about him being a bastard.

Often butts heads with others at court.

Despite this, he and Arthur are close, with Arthur giving him a significant position at court.

I feel like Arthur would likely make him hand of the king at some point.

Tommy often makes a habit of visiting other places in the kingdom to check in on things.

His dragon's name is Syndor (meaning shadow in High Valyrian). He is huge and fearsome looking, with pitch black scales that make him almost invisible at night. He has lots of sharp spines all over particularly his back. Tommy claimed him at a young age.

Tommy has the strongest bond with his dragon out of all of his siblings.

Tommy loves dragons and would have liked to have worked with them had he not had his princely duties.

Tommy loves flying on Syndor and will often take him out flying when he needs to think or just wants to be alone.

Lucy x Tommy

During one of his annual visits to the north, Lucy caught the eye of Prince Thomas Targaryen.

It did not take long for Tommy to start to court her, and he began to make more and more visits to the north in order to see her.

They managed to keep their relationship a secret, despite Lucy's constant nighttime visits to Tommy's bedchambers when he stayed at Dreadfort, or the moon tea she would consume afterwards.

Her fascination with his dragon (not a euphemism) made Tommy fall even harder for her. Syndor adores her and will often try to nuzzle at her.

Tommy would take Lucy out flying on Syndor often, both during and after their courtship.

Just as Tommy was preparing to convince his family to allow him to marry Lucy, her father promised her away to Matthew Lannister, the cruel heir to Casterly Rock.

Despite Genevieve's attempts to dissuade him from the match, Victor was against Lucy marrying Tommy due to his status as a second son, and questions that had been raised about his legitimacy as a Targaryen.

Genevieve wrote to Tommy informing him of Victor and Matthew's plans, and he flew to Dreadfort, arriving but a day before the wedding was to take place.

He and Lucy were married hastily that night by the heart tree, with Genevieve as a witness and Lucy's brother Teddy taking the place of her father as the one to give her away.

A fight nearly broke out the next day once Victor and Matthew were made aware of what happened.

Victor tried to disown Lucy.

She flew with Tommy back to King's Landing.

Victor would continue to cause problems. Every time he does so, Tommy suggests (only half joking) that they feed him to Syndor.

Polly nearly had an aneurysm when she found out that Tommy had gotten married, since she had been scheming to marry him off to a noblewoman at court.

This caused some issues and original awkwardness with Lucy and the rest of the family, but Arthur warmed to her fast and Tommy advocated for her to have a place on the council alongside him.

Okay that's probably more than enough for now! I might post more later and I've got some moodboards I'll share with you all soon as well.

shit I liked about the hotd finale. the things I’ve liked about S2 have unfortunately mostly just been certain features and scenes in isolation, and the things I didn’t like were writing issues that seemed to recur throughout so will summarise that in a new post later but anyway:

I really liked the Alyn and Corlys scene!! this was my favourite Corlys scene of the series so far and also was an interesting take on Alyn. they hadn’t really done anything with him so far and I was feeling v underwhelmed but the fact that he was just keeping a lid on it the whole time because of how much he truly resents Corlys…. this even put him shaving away his Valyrian hair in a new perspective, and also Salim’s delivery was so so good.

if there’s one thing this series gets it’s that Lannisters are fucking cringe and I really enjoyed the trials of Tyland. Sharako Lohar was v fun in a show that is generally runs screaming from humour. anyway Lannister comic relief so good and so right…. I know Tywin is killing himself after watching this

Aemond and Helaena conversation was good, I like that their relationship is dynamic in that sometimes Aemond can overpower Helaena and sometimes she him. also I think it’s actually a pretty compelling choice to tell Aemond where he’s going to die….. I felt in S2 they’ve really struggled to articulate Aemond’s motives beyond ‘he’s bitter’, so hope this is set up for a more interesting battle against fate

nihilistic criston….. I like this as a direction. they could’ve built this better because I feel like it’s been all tell and no show with him this season but as a thesis for his character I think it’s effective. just would have liked better execution.

I like Ulf. like that he’s kind of unpleasant in some ways but likeable in others, and that he’s got this childlike excitement in finding himself in all the trappings of wealth after a lifetime stuck at the bottom. there are times when he has felt a bit cartoonish this season, but I don’t mind that so much as a tone change from the rest of the series where it feels like the writers just really struggle to have fun….

Aegon and Larys dynamic has been pretty good. Larys living vicariously through Aegon, plotting his return to power and so his own. TGC and Matthew Needham are also just great. Aegon has been probably the most effectively written Targ for me in HOTD this season, but I do think he’s ultimately been trapped within some very poorly paced writing that has really diminished the effectiveness of his S2 arc

I love Larys this season and his scenes with Aegon that's all. Compelling and Matthew Needham is quite a force. Well and Rhaena hunting down Sheepstealer is good. Nothing else is fun.

i agree about larys with the one caveat i'm going to list below

larys is probably the one green character who makes the most sense, both that his characterisation is consistent AND the way others view him and his reactions to that MAKE SENSE. larys is still larysing but when aemond proves to be a contrarian he switches back to aegon. for once, aemond's shenanigans get proper consequences from his small councilors.

how does alicent not have any leverages against being dismissed when she is the one hightower representative left? sure, aemond sends back for otto, but do you think the story frames that as compensation for dismissing alicent or did the writers feel obligated to bring him back bc he needs to have his death scene? not one braincell was put into this. daemon does shit in the riverlands and the riverlords STAND UP and bully him back. he also has a big scary dragon and they don't give a shit, so it CAN be done, the writers know deep down how to do this, IF THEY CAREF

why is tyland not putting his foot down and demanding something for house lannister? his brother has a bunch of maiden daughters and daeron is unmarried and has a dragon. the frey lord and lady negociated with jace for their support, jeyne arryn is PISSED that she didn't get what she wanted

what the hell is ironrod even doing? he threw in his lot with aemond but aemond doesn't seem to like him or even give a shit about him so why doesn't he have some kind of reaction. i guess the discussion with larys could have been a step in the right direction because you can say he is testing out the waters to see if he can curry favour with aemond by offering up intel OR if he could forge an alliance with larys and go from there

and this is where i have an issue with the writing bc, on the one hand, they are categorically NOT portraying larys as incompetent, but they are also inadvertently making him SO BAD at his job by making these stupid changes from the book. another symptom of wanting to have one's cake and eat it too. the city is in lockdown but rhaenyra can sneak in, no problem, elenda can not only sneak in, she can access an entire network of pro-rhaenyra agents larys somehow knows nothing about, can raise literal riots, can recruit dragonseeds (why do you even need dragonseeds from KL when you're living on dragonstone?!), rhaenyra's food can reach the population somehow even though there are checkpoints at every entry, the dragonseeds can leave by boat and LARYS KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT ANY OF THIS 🧍and no one even thinks to ask him 'hey wtf is going on? you're kinda fired'. but they can't, can they? they can't get rid of larys because he is important to the plot and they need him in the thick of things!

there's a dumbass post circulating now in which someone ✨generously✨ gives people permission to complain about the show but without bringing that "boring book" (FB) into discussion for a comparative analysis. because apparently the book is bad but somehow not bad enough to keep watching tv media derived from it 🤡

the problem with HotD is that it makes FB the pinnacle of logic and storytelling. it doesn't fix any problems, it compounds them. this shit with larys would not fly in the book bc it is dumb as fuck! so you can't help but compare it to the book where these things did not have to be explained away by waving a magic wand or getting a lobotomy

this post is long enough as it is and other people have already explained the problem with the rhaena storyline, so i won't get into it right now, but, in a nutshell: her story can make sense in a void, she get a semblance of an arc: she wanted a dragon and now she will get one and goes on a journey of re-defining her identity, i suppose, after having been dismissed as not sufficiently targaryen as a result of her being dragonless. so, it's the classic problem of making sense in a watsonian way, in the context of the show, but in a doylist way it's Not The Best because they have to delete the only canonically POC low-born character. so we lose that perspective in a show that already prioritizes the highborn

larys has the same problem with him being a sexual deviant directly connected to his disability. as an individual character, it can be explained and justified, but as representation for disabled people (who suffer from a severe lack of representation in media as is), it's Not Great
