year: 2022
plot: One year after her husband (Omari Hardwick) mysteriously vanishes from their rural farm, Sara Morse (Halle Berry) and her children (Jaiden J. Smith, Quinn McPherson) discover a strange, extraterrestrial object underneath their home, which leads them to embark on a race to find their husband, father, and most importantly – the truth.

'The Night Manager’ Team Lines Up Matthew Orton To Write Season 2 | DEADLINE
by Peter White | November 29, 2017 9:11am
EXCLUSIVE: John Le Carré spy drama The Night Manager is moving closer towards a second series after signing up-and-coming British writer Matthew Orton to pen The Ink Factory-produced series.
I hear that Orton, who has penned a number of feature films for MGM and Fox, is writing new episodes of the BBC and AMC co-production. It comes after The Ink Factory co-founder Simon Cornwell, son of Le Carré author David Cornwell, said earlier this year that the producers were keen to tackle a sequel. “There’s no book and there’s never been a Le Carré story that has been extended beyond the confines of the novel. It would be interesting to try that,” he told an audience at the Royal Television Society.
The Night Manager director Susanne Bier also said in March that a follow-up was “slowly being developed” but that the creators were taking their time to make sure series two “lives up” to the first series. The finale of the first series, which was written by David Farr, secured more than nine million viewers on the BBC when it aired in March 2016.
The first series featured Tom Hiddleston as enigmatic Jonathan Pine, who goes undercover to expose billionaire arms dealer Richard Roper, played by Hugh Laurie. Hiddleston also said he would consider appearing in a second series.
Orton, who is repped by WME, Grandview and The Agency in the UK, most recently wrote the script for MGM drama Operation Finale. The Chris Weitz-directed movie, which features Melanie Laurent, Nick Kroll, Ben Kingsley and Oscar Isaac tells the story of the successful hunt and capture of notorious Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann in Argentina in the 1960s.
He also penned a movie for Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox based on the epic Battle of Britain, one of the most decisive battles in World War II history that saw the courageous British underdogs overcome Nazi titans. He is also writing Reason Of State, a political thriller set in 10 Downing Street for Suburbicon producer Black Bear Pictures.
Orion won a BBC young writers’ competition in 2012 for his TV script Primed, and his debut feature screenplay Clean was optioned by Michael Kuhn’s Qwerty Films in 2014. He has worked closely with Bridge of Spies writer Matt Charman, who has been his mentor since 2015 via UK feature scheme Guiding Lights.

Clarke, Heather Payne, Ajay Aggarwal PurposeTo compare, in a national population-based study, severe genitourinary (GU) and gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity in patients with prostate cancer who were treated with radical intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) or 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT).Methods and MaterialsPatients treated with IMRT (n=6933) or 3D-CRT (n=16,289) between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2013 in the English National Health Service were identified using cancer registry data, the National Radiotherapy Dataset, and Hospital Episodes Statistics, the administrative database of care episodes in National Health Service hospitals. We developed a coding system that identifies severe toxicity (at least grade 3 according to the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events scoring system) according to the presence of a procedure and a corresponding diagnostic code in patients' Hospital Episodes Statistics records after radiation therapy. A competing risks regression analysis was used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs), comparing the incidence of severe GI and GU complications after IMRT and 3D-CRT, adjusting for patient, disease, and treatment characteristics.ResultsThe use of IMRT, as opposed to 3D-CRT, increased from 3.1% in 2010 to 64.7% in 2013. Patients who received IMRT were less likely than those receiving 3D-CRT to experience severe GI toxicity (4.9 vs 6.5 per 100 person-years; adjusted HR 0.66; 95% confidence interval 0.61-0.72) but had similar levels of GU toxicity (2.3 vs 2.4 per 100 person-years; adjusted HR 0.94; 95% confidence interval 0.84-1.06).ConclusionsProstate cancer patients who received radical radiation therapy using IMRT were less likely to experience severe GI toxicity, and they had similar GU toxicity compared with those who received 3D-CRT. These findings in an unselected “real-world” population support the use of IMRT, but further cost-effectiveness studies are urgently required. http://ift.tt/2jtE5Vw

Climate Change Is Turning Antarctica Green
Antarctica, the desolate southernmost continent boasting the coldest climate on Earth, usually brings to mind visions of ice, snow and penguins.
But global warming is transforming Antarctica’s icy expanses, new research from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom shows. Parts of the continent are “greening,” researchers say — and fast.
Moss has been growing on the Antarctic Peninsula at a dramatically faster rate in the past 50 years, and warming temperatures are the culprit, the researchers concluded in a paper published last week in the journal Current Biology.
“If you’d taken a photograph of these parts of the peninsula 50 years ago it would have been a monochrome shot of ice. Nothing but glaciers,” study co-author Dominic Hodgson told CNN. “Today that photo would show extensive patches of green.”
The Antarctic Peninsula, the northernmost part of the continent, is known to be one of the most rapidly warming regions on Earth. Average temperatures there have jumped about 1 degree Fahrenheit each decade since the 1950s ― or a total of nearly 5 degrees Fahrenheit ― compared to a global average increase of just 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit since 1880.
Moss banks are found sporadically along the Antarctic Peninsula, where the slow-growing plants have accumulated over many millennia. Thanks to Antarctica’s cold conditions, deep layers of old moss have been “exceptionally well-preserved,” said researchers, offering insights into changes in moss growth and other ecological shifts over time.
In a 2013 study, Hodgson and his team studied moss core samples taken from the peninsula’s southern end and concluded that rising temperatures on the peninsula had prompted an “unprecedented rate of ecological change” over the past 50 years. For their latest study, the team collected core samples from three other sites on the peninsula — Elephant Island, Ardley Island and Green Island— across a distance of about 400 miles. The results, the researchers said, were troublingly consistent: The unprecedented changes are widespread across the peninsula.
The samples, which date back 150 years, showed that the amount of moss and the rate of plant growth has significantly spiked since the 1950s. Now, it is four to five times higher, researchers said.
“This gives us a much clearer idea of the scale over which these changes are occurring,” Matthew Amesbury, the study’s lead author, said in a news release. “Previously, we had only identified such a response in a single location at the far south of the Antarctic Peninsula, but now we know that moss banks are responding to recent climate change across the whole of the peninsula.”
The researchers said they now plan to study moss core records dating back thousands of years to get a clearer picture of ecological changes before and after human-caused climate change.
The researchers said the rising temperatures may soon make the Antarctic Peninsula a very different place. “The sensitivity of moss growth to past temperature rises suggests that ecosystems will alter rapidly under future warming, leading to major changes in the biology and landscape of this iconic region,” said study co-author Dan Charman in a statement.
Charman added that Antarctica is following in the footsteps of the planet’s other polar region, the Arctic, which has been experiencing a similar greening because of climate change. The changes aren’t just ecological; melting Arctic and Antarctic ice has the potential to significantly contribute to sea level rise in the coming decades, which poses a threat to millions of coastal dwellers around the globe.
