early closing at the grapevine was rare, but not unheard of. it was only thirty minutes before their official posted time, but the bar crowd muttered complaints as he ushered them out the door. lucky most of these are the regulars. the locks clicked, freeing him of his duty to the customer until the next afternoon when he'd arrive for opening. unfortunately, the night did not end there. wiping the bar, flipping chairs onto tables, and refilling bottles were the usual closing tasks- but tonight, the additional boxes of new testing liquors sat dauntingly beyond the stockroom door.
the tamarind vodka assaulted his nostrils before it reached his lips. it was a sickly sweet scent that just barely masked the scrape of the artificial spice down his throat. disgusting. but palatable...enough. it would have been better as a tequila, though he was probably biased. he brought the freshly cracked bottle to the break table, setting a new shot glass for his fellow closer. his eyes shot up to ryann, a glint hidden in their gaze. "try this." @hxrricvnes

The altepetl (city-states) that made up the Triple-Alliance, nowadays most commonly known as the "Aztecs" though this label is of relatively recent origin and was never in use during their time.
From front to back: Texcoco, Tlacopan, and Tenochtitlan. Their human names are Noxochicoztli, Teoxihuitl, and Matlalihuitl respectively if anyone's curious ;v;
It's important to remember while all three spoke Nahuatl as their main language and shared the same religion, they didn't consider themselves as belonging to the same people. Texcoco was mainly inhabited by the Acolhua, and Tlacopan by the Tepaneca which while sister groups to the Mexica (who mainly inhabited Tenochtitlan and Tlatelolco) they had a distinct history and identity which is beyond the scope of this post but I hope to go over in detail someday. I find a bit of a shame that both Texcoco and Tlacopan tend to be downplayed or ignored in favor of the Mexica when they also contributed a lot to the alliance.
Fun facts(?: the prestige dialect of Nahuatl that was spoken throughout the valley of Mexico at the time is based on the Texcocan dialect. Thought by both native and non-natives alike to the most refined and elegant manner of Nahuatl speech.
In the tributary system both Tenochtitlan and Texcoco would each receive 2/5 of tribute collected, while Tlacopan would receive the remaining 1/5.

KyúKya before his sentence is carried out. Inspired by Matlalihuitl, whom does a wonderful job with OC urSkeks; fueled by “Fallen Angel” by Mitsunori Ikeda and Aimee B on repeat.

Having fun figuring out who to turn into Gaolers! Keeping it pretty much to the ones that I don’t have set outfits for so I can’t be sad when I lose a gorgeous perfect outfit.
Bonus double of Matlalihuitl and his Special Eyes:

1, 3, 8, 15 for the identity ask~
#1. If someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?
Oh gosh, if someone really wanted to understand me as a person - like based on what has shaped me into who I am today, and just what I am super interested in - they’d have to: Read all of the Hitchhikers Guide books, as well as most of Stephen King’s novels and most of Tamora Pierce’s books; definitely would have to watch Farscape, as I was raised on that show and it explains why I am so excited about aliens, and pretty much every other aspect of my person, really; and they’d probably have to listen to, like, the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker sounder track, and honestly any LoZ music or Celtic type music.
#3. List your fandoms and one character from each that you identify with.
Legend of Zelda: I identify with...uhm, I’ve honestly never thought of who I’ve identified with! Maybe Fledge, from Skyward Sword?? I honestly am not sure!
AvP/Alien/Predator: Probably Newt! Or the leader of the Lost Tribe in Predator 2 - he just gives off a perpetually annoyed vibe to me.
X-Files: AGENT FOX MULDER, I am, like, way absorbed in my belief/wish that aliens exist.
#8. What musical artists have you most felt connected to over your lifetime?
Not very many, to be honest! However, I think Florence and the Machine is very big in helping me put my emotions and feelings and stuff to words. And Die Antwoord is very good to listen to when I’m down or want to draw!
#15. Five most influential books over your lifetime.
Oh gosh, there have been so many books I’ve read as I’ve grown! I can’t remember all of them, but I’ll try to think of some big ones in my life!
Foreigner by CJ Cherryh: Probably THE novel that got me into political science to begin with, the foreigner series holds a special place for me because it was a fun introduction to the world of diplomacy using humans stranded on an alien planet as the chess pieces!
Trickster’s Choice by Tamora Pierce: Honestly, anything by Pierce is good for this list, but Trickcter’s Choice and Trickster’s Queen were my favorites because they followed the daughter of a famous lady knight, and in trying to escape her mother’s shadow she creates her own legacy as a smart tactician and diplomat - again, I like fantasy/sci fi with politics.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis: I remember always reading these books when I was sick, and my copies are so worn out that some of the books have fallen apart. They really spurred me into trying to make fantasy settings of my own.
The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King: Not the first King novels I’ve read, but definitely my favorites by far, since they tie together all of his other books, and add in a fantasy western feel to a slight hoalrror undertone. I just love the characters and the journey they take, and it’s a wonderful series to read to pass the time and read before bed.
Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson: Although, technically this is a comic, I only ever read it in bound books; I feel like Calvin and Hobbes is one of the reasons I decided to start drawing when I was little, and it was always able to make me smile!

Mine and matlalihuitl's babies, Runede and Patra! Just a beginning sketch; I'm going to digitally color and put them in one piece together! Ridiculously formal poses are perfect and I love them.
