back on the writing grind after taking a small break post blurb night :) i’ve still got some lil blurbs that i want to complete so look out for them!

- before piper called jessie mama, she called her ‘my jessie’

- the two of them love to draw and read together. jessie keeps piper’s bookshelf stacked and they’ve read every single one

- piper looooooves it when jessie cooks. there’s never a fuss at dinner time if jessie’s making the meal

- if the two of them nap together

- jessie got piper a little ladybug onsie. it’s got wings and antenna and is the cutest little thing

- when jess heard that pip was missing only one ninja turtle soft toy from her collection, she immediately started looking around for it.

jessie remembered a big toy outlet near her hometown and asked elysse if she could take a look for her. elysse ended up finding the turtle toy and jessie sent her money to pay for it as well as the shipping to london

- since she grew up around jessie, piper picked up some of her little habits and quirks

- jessie and piper went on runs together when piper was growing up, much like jessie did with her family

- the two of them would practice taking penalties for hours on end and piper grows up to credit that practice to her penalty taking abilities

when she scores a winning penalty in the world cup with the matildas, she points jessie out in the crowd and mouths the words ‘because of you’. the moment goes viral and it’s a fan favourite

- jessie’s the one that got piper to like broccoli, because she cooks it better than you do

- if piper sneaks into you and jessie’s bed through the night she almost always ends up on top of jessie or curled into her so far that she’s almost pushing jessie off the bed

- jessie likes to hang up piper’s artwork in her cubby in the changerooms

- when piper gets older and taller than jessie, she drapes herself over jessie’s back and drags her feet so that jessie is forced to carry her

- they watch documentaries together

- the two of them can talk for hours on end about seemingly anything and everything

- when your team found out that you and jessie were together, piper started randomly telling katie and leah about all the things her and jessie do together so that they’d approve of you dating a chelsea player

- piper likes to help jessie cook

- if canada and australia play eachother, jessie will often wear piper’s matildas jersey and a canada scarf

- whenever the arsenal and chelsea girls would debate which team piper would grow up and play for jessie never got involved. she knows that piper is arsenal through and through.

- after the first time piper and jessie met, piper asked if she could see jessie again

- when piper finds out you’re pregnant with a second baby she becomes worried that she won’t be jessie’s anymore

she goes through a pretty rough patch with this but you and jessie figure it out relatively easy.

it happens again when piper’s a teenager, and it’s pretty hurtful for jessie to hear a second time around

- if you and jessie have a big argument piper will suggest baking you something sweet

- jessie and piper create many little traditions over the years that the two of them try to stick to well into piper’s adult life

More rewrite headcanons! This time it’s Garroth’s turn!

• shy and loyal

• he’s 26 at the start of the story

• Feels like he must be serious at all times

• sometimes jokes over his head and he has difficulty reading people

• unknowingly has expensive taste but it seems like he’s really just good at managing his money

• can become easily jealous although he’s very good at hiding it

• his father pitted his children against each other and that fear of losing people’s favor is still in him

• He still feels he must be the best at everything he does

• He was top of his class at the guard academy

• He had very nice handwriting

• When they were young Zane and Vylad would crawl into bed when if one of them had a nightmare or if their father was particularly harsh that day

• Guard academy lasts 2 years Garroth became head guard at Phoenix Drop almost immediately because Dale was too drunk to fulfill his duties he was only 20

• That same year he found Zenix in the forest on the brink of death when he was 14 he took him under his wing

• Zenix’s bad attitude reminded him of Zane and quickly Garroth began to think of him as a little brother or even son

• Garroth was able to pull some strings at the guard academy to allow Zenix to attend when he was 16 came back when was 18

• He is Levin’s dad he can’t remember this or Matilda because Gene changed the whole village’s memories.

• They had brief romance that included a one night stand of sorts and he broke it off out of guilt over betraying his lord

• Zenix knew this and used his connection Garroth to convince Matilda to come with him before he kidnapped her and tried to force her to tell him where Levin was

• Garroth never regains his memories but still unofficially took on the role as Levin’s father unconsciously (in my rewrite Matilda was Irene’s descendent not the old lord).

• He refuses to grow out his facial hair because he feel like he will look like his father

• He has a matching beauty mark with his mom

• He knew of Laurance and had occasionally heard his name but hadn’t officially met him still later in the story

• He found Raven with Zenix when he was 14 and they had both helped to nurse him back to health

• Would send Zenix letters all the time while he was at guard academy using Raven

Matilda's daily routine both improves and gets worse because of Kimberly I believe 😭

On top of that..... you then need to consider the fact Matilda needs to well. Initially answer the Foundation how why and when she became bound to Kimberly

Hopefully she gets a promotion for her troubles 😭

Imagining the addition of Kimberly into Matilda's daily life is so silly but so funny.

"So, how did Ms. Kimberly" The foundation worker turns to the lady sitting there playing with a cat's toy "end up bound to you?"

"I was tricked by Eternity!! She gave me the toy with no explanation and when I would it up, boom! Kimberly was here!"

"Hii" The girl, hearing her name mentioned by her master, waves at the worker.

"...Okay. We're going to need you to cast her back to her seal-" The foundation worker stopped, feeling a murderous gaze on her and fearing to turn to it "-or we can leave her to your care. Sign here" she takes out a paper and pushes it to Matilda "and you'll become the official caretaker of Ms. Kimberly"

Matilda looked at the now calm and peaceful Kimberly and then at the office worker. "C-can you help me with her?" She whispers and receives a negative.

"Sorry, she's too scary, just sign here."

And now, it seems Matilda has a dangerous girl under her wing! (Get it, since she's a duck)

Morning routines are quite a change. She's the first to wake up just to be greeted by the sight of her beautiful girlfriends- and an intruding face

"Good morning Master!"

And that's how her day begins.

"Kimberly, can't you brush your teeth on the other sink?"

"...? But I like being here by your side, master!"

"..."

They're brushing their teeth in the morning, in front of the same small mirror while Kimberly tries to copy Matilda's movements. Meanwhile, Mercuria and Kanjira sleep peacefully together.

When it comes to getting ready, Kimberly wants to comb Matilda's hair or the other way around.

"Master, master! May I brush your hair? Oh it looks so soft this morning!"

"You won't leave me alone unless I let you, right?"

"Nope!"

Breakfast is funny because by this time, Mercuria and Kanjira are awake and they share their time with Matilda and Ms. Kimberly tagging along.

"Do you like meat?" Mercuria turns to Kimberly who side-eyes the meat in her plate

"Mmm~ yes, I do! Will you give me some?"

"Sure, here you go."

It's oddly peaceful and familiar, Kanjira and Mercuria treat Kimberly normally and don't seem to mind her much. If they don't want something, Kimberly will lick that plate shining clean.

Working with Kimberly is... A problem.

"Do you want me to get rid of your boss, master?"

"No, please don't ever mention that again"

"Okay, master!"

Kimberly's company is quite entertaining as she will do whatever she wants and say whatever she wants but follows after Matilda 24/7

And at night, when Matilda, Mercuria and Kanjira all cuddle together to sleep, they all can feel Kimberly stretching on top of them then just making space for herself... On top of them.

Drew her again, my favoritest cow in the whole wide world. I don't recall if I had a name for her the last time, but let me reintroduce you to Matilda!

According to the game blog Matilda came up with some beautiful concepts while Alishias were “some rough ideas” but all of them are stunning in my opinion look at what was stolen from us. Look at it.

And on Matilda the three on the bottom ARE AMAZING PEGASUS’ WHY DIDN’T THEY USE THESE????? All of the ones on the middle column are amazing on Matilda’s are amazing the one with the colorful wings would have been cool. And the ones on the right column are all amazing for Matilda’s are amazing.

In essence i think they should release theses horses.

MSA X TMNT 2003: Ninja Tribunal Chapter Chapter 16: TMNT and Mystery Teams are knocked out by Tengu Shedder and Fight Tengu Shredder/They are unconscious and use Amulets to Spirit of Hamato Yoshi to fight Tengu Shredder/Spirit back to TMNT and Mystery Teams/Tengu Shredder uses Dark Magic

TMNT Team, Girls' Clues Club Teams, and Mystery Teams are knocked out by Tengu Shredder in the nightmare horrible forest

Tengu Shredder: Prepare, all of you, for a slow agonizing end to your small and worthless lives.

Leo: All right, let’s not give him an easy target. Spread out and get ready.

The other acolytes appear.

Bart: Your friends are right beside you, till the very end.

Leo: Remember the plan. We must try to weaken him by separating him from his helmet and gauntlet. It’s our only chance.

Sarah: Right, course it.

Tengu Shredder: There are no chances left.

He races towards the group on his demon horse, his glowing trident held ready. Meanwhile, back at the citadel, the allies battle Shredder’s demon forces.

Bishop: Commandos, hit ‘em with everything you’ve got. We don’t have to be nice. Remember, these are undead ghouls.

Winged demons carry off some of Bishop’s men, while Kappa Tengu attack others. The ground opens and undead Foot ninja spring up to join the attack. Several charge Bishop, but he uses mystic tech weapons to disintegrate them. Bishop is grabbed and lifted into the air by winged demons, but one of his men shoots one and Bishop shoots the other. As he falls, Bishop fires is weapon at a Stone Oni and destroys it.

Bishop: Commandos, rally to me!

His men move back to join him. When one is knocked down by an undead soldier and is about to be struck again, Raptarr sweeps down and grabs its weapon. He uses it to smash another Stone Oni who is holding two commandos. Silver Sentry flies towards another Stone Oni, but is struck hard enough to fly backwards into a temple, which then falls on him.

Nobody: Sentry, hang on! [He and Metal Head pull boulders off of Silver Sentry and then Nobody gives him a hand up.] Silver Sentry, what’s happening?

Silver Sentry: We’re losing.

Inside the citadel, Hun manages to pull himself out of a pile of rubble.

Hun: Forget this nonsense. Nothing is worth fighting demons. Hmm? [He looks around and sees he’s fallen into a chamber filled with riches.] Nothing except this. [He picks up a pearl necklace.] If I gotta risk my life, I might as well be rewarded for it.

In the smoking remains of the top floor of the citadel, Chaplin comes to and spots Karai lying nearby.

Chaplin: Mistress? Mistress Karai! [He runs to her.] Mistress? [She awakens.] Thank goodness you’re all right. Let me help you.

Nearby, Baxter Stockman groans, his army tank body on its side.

Baxter Stockman: Help me.

His hologram projected head appears. Bishop walks up and kicks him.

Bishop: Stockman. On your feet. There’s work to do.

Stockman: Why can’t I ever be left alone to expire in peace?

He rights himself and Bishop walks over to Karai.

Bishop: Karai, you’re alive. Now if you haven’t noticed, we’re losing. You’ve got to use your link with the Shredder and continue your assault.

Chaplin goes to help her up, but she pushes him back and returns to sitting in a cross-legged position.

Karai: Stand back.

The green mystic energy forms around her body.

Bishop: You two, protect her. I need to see if we have any other forces left.

He races away.

Chaplin: Dr. Stockman! This is so great! You and I are a team again. Isn’t it just so awesome?

Stockman: Thrilling beyond words. This day couldn’t possibly get any worse.

----

Fighting continues in the courtyard outside the citadel. In the forest next to it, Shredder charges towards the turtles.

Tengu Shredder: Run, but you can’t hide.

Raph: Yeah, bring it on!

He leaps onto the horse’s neck and brings his Banrai down at Shredder, who catches them on the trident’s staff. Matilda jumps at Shredder, but he flings Raphael into her. Bart attacks next, but Shredder bats him away. Michelangelo swings his Inazuma, but Shredder catches him in midair with magic and holds the turtle, squeezing him before tossing him to the ground. Shredder then slides Michelangelo towards a spike covered tree, but Donatello jumps behind his brother to catch him. The magic is too strong and both start sliding towards the spiked tree trunk.

Leo: Rush him all at once – now!

He, Lewon, and Marie leap at Shredder, but he lifts his Trident and catches them in mystic magic. They struggle, but are unable to move. Shredder turns to look at Marie's weapon.

Tengu Shredder: The mystical fangs of the dragon. Children should not be allowed to play with such powerful toys. [He grabs onto Lewis' Samurai Fire Sword 's blade] The consequences could be deadly.

His eyes glow and then power rushes through the blade, into Cera and then over to the other two. All groan in pain. From a distance away, Splinter rises from where he’s fallen and sees the green mystic light flash through the trees.

Splinter: My sons. [He gasps as he sees smoke rising and then frantically runs through the forest. In the clearing, he spots the Mystery Teams acolytes lying motionless on the ground.] No. [He kneels next to Lewis and touches his neck. Then he looks up and his eyes widen.] No, it cannot be! [He sees all four of the turtles also motionless on the ground.] Not my sons! Not my sons! Not my friends! Not my friends! [He runs over to Leonardo.] No. My nightmare has come true. [He looks at each of his sons in turn.] My children… My friends... they have all been… This can’t be happening!

He drops to his knees. The Ancient One arrives and taps him on the shoulder. Splinter looks back.

Splinter: Ancient One. [Suddenly a green glow hits the Ancient One in the back. He yells and then falls forward.] No, not you too!

He hears laughter and looks up to see Shredder.

Tengu Shredder: And you’re next. [Shredder lowers his trident towards Splinter.] Now it is your turn to perish, Nezumi.

Splinter moves forward and holds his walking stick ready as Shredder rides towards him. Suddenly the turtles and Mystery Teams’ amulets glow and the energy swirls out of them to form teams of dragons, phoenixes, and animals behind Splinter. They rise into the air and spin together until their colours blend into a gold flash of lightning. It hits the ground in front of Splinter and becomes the spirit of Hamato Yoshi.

Splinter: Oh, Master Yoshi?

Yoshi, still surrounded by a yellow glow, faces off with Shredder. When Shredder reaches him, he stabs at Yoshi with the trident, but Yoshi grabs the staff and lifts Shredder out of the saddle. The demon horse goes flying into the trees and crashes. Yoshi holds Shredder up in the air and then slams him to the ground. Yoshi then spins the trident and levitates.

Tengu Shredder: I do not know who you are, but know this, [He starts to form a green mystic orb between his hands.] you shall suffer greatly by my…

Yoshi slashes down with the trident, splitting the magic orb and slicing across Shredder’s chest and stomach. Shredder screams as his mystic power flows out of him. The turtles’ colors then leave Yoshi’s body and glide back into their amulets. Groaning, the turtles all rise.

Splinter: My sons! My Friends!

Tengu Shredder: This changes nothing.

Holding his chest as his power leaves him, Shredder walks towards the group. He then lifts his arms and begins pulling power back into his body.

Sarah: ! He used to have more dark powers!

Splinter: He is re-concentrating all of his powers.

At the citadel, the ally forces are fighting a desperate battle.

Bishopric: Hold the line, men, hold the line! [Suddenly the Shredder’s undead forces begin to turn into blobs of green magic and fly towards the forest.] What’s happening? Why are they retreating?

Chelsea: ?! They're retreating?

Turtles THNT Teams: !?

Carol: Mom, that��s dark magic?

Chelsea: Right, I think it’s Tengu Shredder used to more dark magics to himself!

Gary: Yes, right! Demon Shredder has more dark powers!

The Purple Dragons watch in surprise as the undead Foot soldiers they face melt away. Tsunami and four duplicate Nanos are surrounded by Kappa Tengu and assaulted by winged hordes, when all of their adversaries vanish. Nano reforms into a single body and he and Tsunami look questioningly at each other. As Shredder pulls his power out of the city, everything returns to normal. The Citadel vanishes, leaving Foot headquarters in a shamble. Karai is still sitting cross-legged on the ground, surrounded by some of Shredder’s power. Stockman and Chaplin are nearby.

Stockman: What’s happening?

Karai: The Tengu Shredder is pulling his energy back into himself!

Hun is still gloating over the riches he’s discovered, but as the power is pulled away, the room filled with gold and jewels vanishes, including the loot Hun is holding in his arms.

Hun: Aw, crud.

All of the disbursed power returns to Shredder’s body and the gash in his body heals.

Don: Everything’s changing back. Do you think… do you think it’s over?

Shredder starts laughing and slashes at the air, forming waves of power around him.

Josh: !? Not good!

Leo: Not by a long shot.

Maisy: No... can’t believe...!

The waves become wings, and the Shredder’s entire body transforms into a vicious gigantic dragon, which towers over the groups.

Sebastian and Devzik trying to sneak out of the common room past curfew, not wanting to get caught by Ominis

Sebastian, in a harsh whisper: Come on Dev, he said if he catches us again he'll tell a prefect.

Devzik, falling behind slightly: Calm down, he's harmless.

Ominis, coming up behind Devzik: Who's harmless?

Devzik practically jumping out of his skin, Sebastian hearing everything from the top of the stairs.

Devzik: Oh, uh, my cat.

Ominis: Well that's just simply untrue. He attacked me just the other day.

Devzik: You stepped on his tail.

Ominis, rolling his eyes: I'm blind.

Devzik, in an annoyed tone: He's a cat.

Sebastian, covering his mouth to hold in his laughter while listening to his friends bicker down the stairs.

Devzik, panicking and downing the whole vile, making a face of utter disgust: It wasn't Professor, Garreth being here is merely a coincidence.

Garreth, looking completely dumbfounded but also worried: I usually wouldn't say this to a Slytherin but, go to the hospital wing right now. I'll send Natty to meet you.

"—mainly I teach social studies, history. I've taught for about five years so far." You sat comfortably inside the chair, legs crossed with your hands over your lap.

Ms. Honey looked at you with a welcoming smile and nodded shortly.

"Well Ms. Erdu, it is wonderful to meet you." she outstretched a hand and you took it, thanking her as well as reciprocating her compliment.

"I'll show you to your classroom and even tour around for a bit. But we must go, the kids are excited to meet you" she stood up from her desk leading you.

The students haven't even seen you and they're eager about your presence.

"Really, they haven't even seen me yet?"

"They are sweethearts I tell you" Ms. Honey giggled and turned a corner. Her body stayed close to you, as she told you of the classes you both passed.

But your class wasn't far down because she glanced at you after she opened the door with the letter 'E'. You flattened your sage chiffon skirt and tugged the edges of your long wing-sleeve top.

"Class, may I have your attention?"

"Yes, Ms. Honey!"

She clasped her hands together with a smile and looked at you, coming beside her.

"As you know, you will have a new social studies teacher. Everyone say hi to Ms. Erdu." There wasn't a frown to be spotted only grins and twinkles of their fingers.

"Hi, Ms. Erdu!"

Wonderful children and students, they were.

"Why hello class, I am indeed your new social studies teacher and I'm happy to teach you all. Are you ready to learn?" Loud cheers of a yes made you smile from ear to ear.

"I like your outfit!" A young girl blurted swinging her little feet under the desk.

"Oh- thank you-"

"Your hair is pretty~" another with pigtails and creased blue eyes.

"Thank you" a chuckle mixed in with your bashful voice. You felt a gentle hand on your shoulder. Ms. Honey's eyes gleamed.

"They seem to like you already" she whispered about to exit but not without bidding a small goodbye.

"Well I'm off, class, treat Ms. Erdu nicely yes?"

"Yes, Ms. Honey!"

In the middle of learning about the president's the bell's rung to alert the students of lunchtime. You puffed your cheeks and set the chalk down, gently touching a child's head when they waved you goodbye.

"Have a nice lunch, Ms. Erdu." Then there came an incredibly gifted student, Matilda. With much knowledge and intriguing questions.

It was admirable.

"You as well, Matilda." Your lips tugged up as you watched her leave and pulled out your lunchbox. Popping the lids off your food containers and digging in with a fork.

It was unknown that Ms. Honey was on her path to find you. Asking her child that was at the table chatting away with the others.

"Matilda, sweet, do you know where Ms. Erdu is?"

"I'm pretty sure she's still in class, I don't think she left out."

"Alright, thank you, enjoy your lunch children" she waved to the students at the table and made her way to your classroom. Normally she'd be in her own room too, being by herself. But you were mysterious in a way and she wanted to know more about you.

The dark-skinned woman with reflective round glasses and long locs that were roped together with a long cowry shelled string. Smelling of cocoa butter and granola.

Ms. Honey grinned and stepped Infront of your door. She peered inside, seeing you slide from your desk with your rolling chair, laughing at something on your computer screen.

A knock came to your door and you covered your mouth.

"You can come in!" Ms. Honey popped her head inside and shuffled inside.

"Oh Ms. Honey? Hi" she sat at a desk across from yours.

"Hi, I.. I know you're probably wondering what I'm here for," you smoothly paused the video on the screen and paid attention to her.

"I just wanted to chat with you, get to know you more" She nibbled on her lip watching you use your index finger to perch your glasses closer to your face.

"You want to know more about me?—" It was endearing how soft your confused tone was, truly trying to think.

"Well I love using words others don't, like expanding my vocabulary— and I know a little German" you pinched fingers insinuated it, a fit of giggles beginning with the two of you.

"Really? can you say something in German?"

"Mhm, du bist schön" You're beautiful.

"Danke, das könnte ich auch sagen" Thank you, you're beautiful as well. 

Your mouth fell open as she cheesed. Your hands held hers, a kind habit.

"You know German!?" You whispered.

"I do, learnt it through reading a couple of books. I want to visit there someday"

"It's gorgeous over there" she scoffed. "You've been!?"

"I have~ infact-" The bell rang again, a little torturous thing you figured. Ms. Honey looked mildly disappointed and slowly slid her hands away.

"The time, guess I'll be off then- oh- and it was nice to know a bit more about you"

"Likewise" you smiled and watched her leave. Crowds of children scurried through the halls and a group blinked at her, she quickly moved to the side and let them proceed to go inside your classroom.

Heels clicking rapidly all the way to her office as she hid a smile behind her hands.

Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical: A Odeum Review.

Matilda has and will always be one of my comfort stories. Growing up with the film and being a huge fan of the musical, the news of this new Matilda musical into film adaptation was incredibly exhilarating for me.

So, what can one do other than immediately buy tickets and take yourself on a little self-care date?

For those of you who do not know about the little legend that is Matilda Wormwood, let me introduce you to her: Despite the neglect from her parents, Matilda, a young girl, grows up to teach herself all the knowledge and fun that life can offer. When the only school in town sends two of their teachers over to Matilda’s house, after hearing that a neglected six-year-old hasn’t been to school once, it is Matilda’s chance to receive the education she is so desperately craving. Ms Honey promises Matilda she would even learn how to write her own stories and takes her under her wing. If only, the incredibly smart Matilda wouldn’t be a thorn in the eye of cruel headmistress Ms Trunchbull. Soon, Matilda realises that the Trunchbull is not to be trusted and her own intelligence might expand to something she never thought would be possible. With her new-found powers and the help of her classmates, Matilda leads a revolution for justice.

Now, it's been a while since I left the cinema but I still can't decide whether I am happy and proud or quite frankly a little disappointed. Matthew Warchus, who also directed the original stage adaptation of Matilda on the West End and its Broadway transfer, certainly did a great job keeping its original appeal.

This new version of Matilda feels like it combines the original 1996 film with the musical in so many different aspects. A great success in that way! On the other hand, it felt as though the attempt to strive away from the stagey feel was going too far.

For instance, the 'When I Grow Up' Sequence wouldn't need to have the children driving motorbikes and flying planes, in order to maintain its emotional value. If anything, it achieved the contrary. In my opinion, at last. 'Quiet' is another great example. However, in this case it rather felt like they were trying to oppose reality. But once again, very over the top and along with that the greenscreen and animation was very clear to see and took that illusion of dreamy reality.

They certainly tried to establish a feeling of reality and turn it into a rather immersive experience for the audience through playing with diagetic sound during the musical numbers. A great way to keep people engaged, in some moments, however, once again over the top. Hearing individual voices within the ensembles louder than others whenever the camera got closer is a great idea, but in this case felt unsuccessfully executed and rather felt like a poorly mixed song. Additionally, some of the songs were sped up which felt as though they were in a hurry to tell the story.

Despite all of these negative notes on the songs, I do have to add that it was generally astounding. Mixing the themes into the score worked incredibly well, added the needed suspense and underlined the emotional storytelling through music. 

But by no means do these negative notes affect the quality of storytelling in this film in any way. Warchus did a great job at bringing Matilda's story to screen, once again.

The partly original choreographies - mainly performed by the children - absolutely blew my mind and the talent that was shown on screen sometimes made me rethink my own success and talent in life.

For a film that heavily relies on children’s actors, this one was incredibly well cast with astounding actors and mind-blowing triple-threads. Leading this wonderful army of young performers is Alisha Weir as Matilda.

This new production also gives us a chance to engage more with side characters such as Nigel, Lavender, and Bruce. Through distinguishing them more from the rest of the class, their characters blossom and their bond to our protagonist Matilda becomes clearer - more screentime for successful character development. To mention is also the relationship between Miss Honey (Lashana Lynch) and Matilda herself - I can’t quite put my finger on what it is that made this friendship in this film so raw and real. A beautifully crafted relationship between them that simply works and warms hearts in contrast to Emma Thompson’s Miss Trunchbull, who appears even crueller and colder than in any production of Matilda before. A great way to establish greater emotional gaps between characters and story strings and astounding work by Emma Thompson herself.

One of the biggest positives, however, is the representation in this film. Sure, Matilda herself remains the smart white girl she has also been in Roald Dahl’s original books - but casting PoC for most of the characters, such as Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey and Sindhu Vee as Mrs. Phelps but also many of the Ensemble kids and adults, made me indescribably happy. Especially, seeing the reaction of kids in the audience who are people of colour themselves, warmed my heart but at the same time shows that we need more and more of this. This new version of Matilda is definitely taking the right steps.

All in all, a brilliant execution that ties two past productions together, but would have benefited from the advice of 'less is more'.

A great watch for all ages - Matilda will forever remain a timeless classic.

I'm grateful that we have technologies that allow us to keep in touch with our family and friends in the States while we are living and traveling abroad. Using ZOOM, WhatsApp, and the cameras in our phones we have been able to have conversations and send photos and videos to each other, as well as "attend" meetings and classes back home.

It's particularly important to us to be able to follow our granddaughter, Maple's growth and development while we are away. She is nine months old and crawling, beginning to walk holding on to things, and communicating verbally, and she's becoming more aware of who she is. She recognizes us on WhatsApp calls but I can only imagine what may be going through her mind, perhaps something like "Why are my Nana and Grampy in a box and why can't I touch them?" She probably has a hard time understanding the difference between when we can interact with her on a call and when she sees us in photos and videos. But she kind of goes along with it all because MOST things are a puzzle for her that her brain is constantly trying to solve.

When I think of all she has learned in the few short months of her life I'm blown away! Babies are the most amazing creatures! All babies, not just human babies. Imagine a fawn standing up and walking, however ungracefully, just moments after it is born. Imagine baby birds FLYING after only a few months in the nest. Our kittens are also less than a year old and they have changed SO much since they were the cute babies who first came home to live with us.

Look how little they were, they were eating out of the same bowl! I used to be able to hold them both at the same time in my arms. They could still jump and climb but not very high. Now they can jump onto the counters and even the top of the refrigerator in their room in the lower level of the house and I'd have to be sitting down to try to hold them together, which they never let me do because they are so rambunctious.

Chloe was a skinny kitten and she has grown into a FAT CAT! I had to put her on a diet the last time we returned home and ask Beverly, our cat sitter, to stop giving her treats because she had put on so much weight in such a short time.

Feather hasn't changed as much because she's a normal weight for her age, but she's still a lot bigger now. Her fur is sleek and soft. They are both beautiful cats and much calmer than they were as kittens, when they were play fighting with each other all the time. They sleep more than half the time, which is developmentally normal for their age. I usually let them out of their room when I'm home so they can run up and down the stairs in the wing of the house where they live, to give them enough exercise. Obviously, Chloe isn't climbing the stairs as often as she should!

Our "old girl" Matilda, who is eighteen years old, and still going strong, lives in my study because she doesn't like her "sisters" very much. They bother her and try to eat her food so they aren't allowed to be with her unless Bev or I are there, because they fight with each other.

Matilda is perfectly content with being by herself or with us but she does occasionally visit the "kittens" in their room and she likes looking through the window in the door and watching them play.

I miss ALL our "babies" while I'm gone and I'm always so happy to get home to them!
