Hi - quick question about the Community Time Project fix: if the sim leaves around a very late time during the day (say close to 00:00) and while out on a community lot, it is already the next day morning that they come home; would it cause any problems with the time calculation? I always had some type of calculation issue with the unfixed version especially if the scenario was like the one I just mentioned here. Thanks!

Hello! By default, Chris Hatch's mod already accounted for day changes while away from a community lot, and it shouldn't cause trouble so long as you weren't away for multiple days.

Warning: The following section will be technical, because to explain why I think calculations won't be a problem at all, I will show how my fix calculates the time away from a community lot. It's based on what Chris did, but it received changes.

So before I delve in, here's a quick tl;dr: Time calculation works just fine. I use my mods myself, my Sims travel a lot and I have never had miscalculations since I used my own fix.

When a Sim leaves the community lot, the Token - Community Time receives the global values Day of Week (e.g. 0 = Monday), Hour (e.g. 7) and Minute (e.g. 45) that were in place when the Sim left.

When the home lot is loaded again, the real fun begins:

Step 1. The token's values are written to local variables within the Community Time Wait function, let's say A, B and C; and three more local variables get the current Day of Week, Hour and Minute at the home lot as well. Let's say Day of Week = 5 = Saturday, Hour = 23 and Minute = 58. These get written to D, E and F.

Thus, after this step: A = 0, B = 7, C = 45, D = 5, E = 23, F = 58.

Step 2. A, B and C are subtracted by the same values we put in D, E and F earlier, respectively.

After this step: A = -5, B = -16, C = -13.

Step 3. If C is below 0, then 60 is added to C and B is further subtracted by 1. Basically, imagine a clock - since the minute hand (C) went over a full hour, one extra hour is subtracted.

After this step: A = -5, B = -17, C = 47.

Step 4. If B is below 0, then 24 is added to B and A is further subtracted by 1. On the clock, the hour hand (B) went over a full day, so one extra day is subtracted.

After this step: A = -6, B = 7, C = 47.

Step 5. If A is below 0, add +7 to it. We went from Sunday to Monday - thus, a new week started in the game. The calculation needs to account for this, because otherwise Sims would stay away for negative six days, meaning they'd immediately come home.

After this step: A = 1, B = 7, C = 47.

Step 6. A is multiplied by 24. Then, A is added to B. Community Time doesn't display how many days it takes; it converts days to hours.

After this step: A = 24, B = 31, C = 47.

Step 7. Because of a quirk with Sims 2, we finally have to add 1 to D, and if that results in 7 we have to set D to 0. That's because, for some reason, while weeks start on Monday in the global Day of Week value, when you try to print the current day of week using the string substitution $DayLocal:X, the week suddenly starts on Sunday. Thus we have to account for that.

After this step: A = 24, B = 31, C = 47, D = 6, E = 23, F = 58.

And that's it, we now have the final values to initiate our countdown to get home. The final message displayed when the countdown starts will be:

John is due home at 7:45 on Monday Time Remaining: 31 Hours : 47 Minutes

I hope this gives insight into the inner workings of Community Time!

so for the past week, i've been obsessively using an app called IXL (unfortunately, yes, it's pay-walled at $15.95AU a month for one subject), to learn maths from preschool to year 12.

while perusing the different year groups from years 5 to 11, i've realised just how much consumer maths, from budgeting and reading financial statements (year 5, in the "financial literacy" screenshot), up to simple and compounding interest from years 9 to year 11...and the ever important unit pricing in grocery shopping can be covered. or will actually be covered, bc I defs did interest calculations, for example, in year 9 and 10 maths.

obviously, probably not all of the screenshots were fully covered when i was at primary school and early high school in the 2000s, and early 2010s for mid high school.... since i dropped maths on purpose in year 11/2012 lmao. but there's SO MUCH about financial literacy, consumer maths (like "what's the best coupon?" in years 6 to 8) and obviously markups and mark downs etc in high school maths.

like obvs, i was *edgy teen voice* scarred for LIFE doing everything to do with interest calculations, GST calculations and wage calculations from years 8 to 10 and always exclaiming "WHEN will i EVER fucking NEED this?? *to the poor person who had to sit next to or near me* hey, chole/dean/jessa/nick can you guys do all the work so you can pretend to wake me up at the end of the lesson?? and maybe i'll copy some of your answers near the end??? thanks. also feel free to take the textbook home, im never going to do my pointless homework!! lol"

like honey. my sweet summer child. you need it NOW. 14 years in the future. you DID get a car eventually in 2022 (10 years after you finally dropped maths lmao). you're now paying double the interest each month to try and get rid of the car loan ASAP. and paying a small extra bit each fortnight to also get rid of it faster. i know it seems so far and impossible to imagine, at 13 to 16, just how far 29 is away from you.... and whether or not buying a car is ever going to happen.

however, you did have a job that went poorly. but it would've been good to know how much super/retirement money to put away while you were there. the said job is how you got the car in the first place lol. now you're trying to get any fucking job possible. where you WILL get paid double time and a half in a casual/part-time job in retail or hospo on public holidays.... or, well, at least hopefully you'll get paid properly lmao.

but my point is like. financial maths/consumer maths/financial literacy IS taught at school. but yeah. it's lost in between polynomials, factorials, parabolas, parallelograms and trapezoids. evil old mate pythagoras and his dastardly triangular formulas. power rules and cube roots. x×y×b= PEMDAS or BODMAS. sin, cos and tan. you get the picture.

but practical real life maths is IN the curriculum. it doesnt need to be taught in an extra class, like everyone who whinges about "we didnt learn about high-yield compound interest savings accounts in school and how they help you save money and help you invest!" bro!!! you fucking did!!! but you were 15. you were probably more focused on playing M/A/S/H with your bestie with your fave mid 2000s/early 2010s heart-throbs.... to give a flying fuck about compound interest. or bitching about how you lost a battle or something on COD. you LEARNT this shit. although, it would've probs also been covered more thoroughly in commerce in years 9 and 10 electives. and economics/business studies (maybe) if your school ran those subjects in senior years.

but again, a lot it is also overshadowed with the "who REALISTICALLY buys 75 watermelons at $400 for the lot, just like sarah and cole?? what a fucking stupid ass question." quips that all teens utter when they're doing questions about money in maths class. because yes, dgmw. 75 watermelons is a ludicrous amount of watermelons for anyone to buy (unless of course they're a greengrocer). but the point of the question is to calculate the idk 15% markup they've been charged (possibly, i just pulled that number out of my ass) and how much they estimate to make back on selling the watermelons at $7.50 each, say, while they're out of season in winter. that shit is important when thinking about sales.... especially how trash sales like black friday have become now. since multi billion dollar retailers will actually UP the price 10% to 20% (bare minimum) or something for the actual proper sale period... all while having great normal pricing BEFORE the real sale week. so then you only save literally $3 over what used to be a good like $40 or more saving.

like a practical example from my life was when i finally got myself off my dads phone bill in 2022.... so now i finally pay for my own phone. however, i added an extra like $30 to my bill each month, at that time, all bc the sales guy was begging me to "augment your phone with samsung buds and the samsung watch because you're YOUNG!!!" like no thanks, rajesh. my phone bill was LITERALLY only $12 more than MY FUCKING FORTNIGHTLY CAR PAYMENT each month. $127 a month for a phone!!! all bc i added two accessories to my bill. my bill is now $96 (still almost $100). mostly bc telstra (main aussie telco) is a piece of shit and decided to raise prices in late 2024 to add an extra $6 to base phone data plans... very obviously right after i decided to pay out my samsung watch up front bc it was down to $80 left.... at $16.50 a month or something, because it took off $10 from my bill by doing that.

like obvs, schools also do sometimes get professional firms (and sometimes banks with their "kids and saving money" for primary school aged kids and "young savers" for middle and high schoolers) programs to come in to teach kids about saving, how to understand their pay stubs and stuff, maybe get some idea of how superannuation works and other financial literacy stuff outside of maths class. this IS important. every school should have access to these programs. overall, my point is though, that these things ARE and CAN be taught to kids in maths class. but it's very obvs dismissed by the kids, like teen me, who REFUSED to believe she'd EVER need those skills. bc alas, sweet kiddo, it CATCHES up to you right fucking quick. let me tell you. ain't no meme gonna save your ass from not knowing how to read a budget.

and all those mid2000s emo band dudes you thought you'd marry, teen me?? i dont think they'd be too pleased to know that all you wanted to do with their money/them was either siphon their funds bc you thought you'd get away with it. all because of the amount of crime channel docos about embezzlement/fund siphoning/money laundering and/or financial fraud you watched (hint: you wouldn't. bc you're shit at maths on purpose.... bc "im just a girl!!! why the fuck do i even need maths, when i can be a sugar baby instead??? lol not lol). or just bankrupt them for funsies bc you had/have no money sense lmao.

so then, how do you live off, idk, the maybe $800 you might finally get from one actually paid acting job??? once everyone else gets a cut from your check??? what about residuals?? are they enough to live off of for a time??? (answer: lol, not today in 2025. when studios always actively try to take them off of everyone in tv show or movie casts). but how do you manage this money??? budgeting and maths.

Ina Leifsdottir Headcanons bc I Said So

I think I'm going to make hc lists for all of my fave Voltron characters no matter how much screen time they got.

Her favorite color is yellow.

She has autism, she's mainly affected by her sensory issues and has a very hard time socializing.

Ina's parents were helicopter parents and often infantilized her because of her autism. Even though she was wicked smart her parents had no faith in her.

When Ina was little it was difficult for her to make friends, so she mainly found herself indulging her hyperfixation on space.

Ina was actually in middle school with both Keith and James. She had been on and off friends with James since childhood, but since his parents were so strict they didn't get to hang out much.

They became friends because Ina used to follow James around like a lost dog because she thought he was so cool cause' he was going to go to the Garrison.

Ina had always been fascinated by space but her parents would never let her explore this love.

It was James who encouraged her after her simulator failure when Shiro visited their middle school.

You will never find this woman wearing a skirt, she hates skirts/dresses. It’s a sensory thing for her.

She grew up in a more rural area of the desert, her family owns a lot of land and they have some animals.

This is how Ina found her love of the stars. Sitting on an old wooden fence that kept her family’s horses, looking up at the milky way in awe.

Ina’s favorite bands/artists are The Lumineers, Hoizer, and Bon Iver. Her respective favorite songs from them are: Sleep on the Floor, Like Real People Do, and Skinny Love.

Although she’s really good at math and science her favorite subject is English. One of those kids that always had their nose in a book.

I have a question about Pat though: in eleventh grade we choose a "direction" (in Greek, the word is κατεύθυνση), humanities or sciences (you already know this, I just like giving context anyway). In twelfth grade, humanities stay the same but the sciences are split in economics, health, and, again, sciences.

We have four subjects for the Panhellenic exams:

Humanities: Greek, Latin, Ancient Greek, history

Economics: Greek, Math, ΑΟΘ and ΑΕΠΠ

Health: Greek, Chemistry, Physics, Biology

Sciences(solos your faves): Greek, Math, Chemistry, Physics

If the original plan was for Pat to apply for architecture with Achilles, they'd both have to be in the sciences in twelfth grade.

If Pat got in a literature and theatre program, however, he'd have to have been in humanities from the beginning, along with Briseis who went to law school.

It's not possible for him to get into that program any other way; but I could've sworn that he had chosen sciences??

Hi hello!!! Thank you so much for this ask, I'm so glad you've been enjoying my work! And yes I am Greek ahah but please don't feel embarrassed, I can see how Pat's panhellenic situation would have been a little confusing for someone who is familiar with, well, Panhellenics. My thought process was like this: Patroclus was indeed in the Sciences "direction" because he wanted to get into architecture with Achilles at first. However, back when I was at school there was a loophole where even if you were in the Sciences direction, if you had taken an electoral class in a Humanities subject, then you could apply for some schools in the Humanities field. And that was the same for the other directions too: for instance, if you were in Humanities and had taken Biology as your electoral, then you could apply for some schools in the Sciences field like veterinary school, nursing, midwifery or something like that. Theatre studies was one of those schools that one could get into from the Sciences if they had taken I think either history or literature as their electoral, so that's what I had Patroclus do.

Also, btw, back in my day we only had 3 major directions (Humanities, Sciences, Economics) and a lot more subjects in each one. Disasters is very much based on my own experiences, so I had both Pat and Achilles suffer extra with all those subjects they had to study in cram school/frodistirio 🤣 Processing the trauma of Greek education one fic at a time 🫠

Rivulet lives in Moon&Pebbles’ house. They once went outside alone and got lost, leaving the siblings concerned. They tried to find them but it didn’t bear fruit. It was when Arti, neighborhood boss scug appeared in front of them—They asked Arti to tell Rivulet come back, and next day they did.

Arti used to be boss scug of certain area, but now they joined Moon&Pebbles’ house. Arti always keep waking up until they tire out(so that they will not dream), so they sleep on afternoon and wake up on evening.

Moon and Pebbles’ bento are made by Arti. How?

Saint is Sliver’s guardian AND school principal. They’re mostly meditating on the kotatsu.

Hunter is half-wild scug living nearby Sigcchi. They’re mostly at outside, but occasionally knock door of NSH’s house and rest there—Especially when rain(or even typhoon)comes.

1) Alice was hardcore into their science classes (minus chemistry) Anything biology related, they especially loved. Though they also liked algebra, and would often help Ashley out with homework… and sometimes helped her cheat. Anything for their big sis :) They also took a forensics class, so they know more than they should (in Andrew’s opinion) about disposing of evidence/corpses

2) Def love ranting about their special interests/hyperfixations! Alice has that autism adhd swag lol. There was this book abt dinosaurs in their high school’s library that they loved so much, they bought a copy of the book for themselves. Unfortunately that book is now ashes thanks to that fire at the apartment :/ Other than dinos, I think they’re also heavily into goth music and gothic literature. Totally not projecting, but Jekyll and Hyde is their fave cause it made them realize they were trans :)

3) Prom was ok. Crowds and parties aren’t really their thing, but they do love having an opportunity to get all dolled up! I think they convinced Ashley to go with, if at least so they can make fun of other ppl there together. (Also so they could see Ashley dolled up as well) Idk if their school had this, but my school had a thing where you could bring a plus one from another school in the district/21 or younger. If their school had that, then them and Ashley definitely did everything they could to convince Andrew to go with as well. Alice made sure to drown them, especially Ashley, in compliments abt their outfits. Alice probably also did a little prom-posal for their sibs, in the privacy of home tho. I like to think the 3 of them went to some cheap ice cream place afterwards while still in their prom getups. Here’s what I think their dress would’ve looked like:

yep i have a homeroom!! my teachers are overall okay (some of them are AWFUL) and my classmates are horrible people (only the boys but whatever)

1: are you named after anyone? Nope. Was almost named Charlotte after my paternal grandfather (guess what his name was 🤭), but ultimately my parents thought it was best I had my own name.

2: when was the last time you cried? This morning when I coughed hard enough that tears welled up. 🤦‍♀️ I hate COVID.

3: do you have kids? No. 😏

4: do you use sarcasm a lot? Very much so. As I’ve aged, I’ve tried to tone it down in front of less familiar people so it’s not taken the wrong way.

5: what sports do you play/have you played? (Europeans close your eyes…) Soccer and ballet mostly. I also did lightweight women’s 8 rowing in uni.

6. what's the first thing you notice about other people? Day to day - their eyes and/or their smile. At work - signs of distress/pain.

7: scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings all day and every day.

8: any special talents? Nope, just good at knowing when I’m mediocre at many things and decent (but require work) at a few things - and then trying to focus on the few. 🤣

morgan/tyson headcanons? 👀

lowkey they're funny to think about because canon gave us like. next to nothing but I still rotate them every now and then for funsies. also, they have a cut song called "Something Different This Year" that's one of my faves, it's Very Cute.

but okay, let's dive in.

I like to think they're a reverse of Robert & Giselle, with Morgan being the more grumpy, sarcastic one, and Tyson the more happy-go-lucky, outgoing one.

Tyson is really good at math, which is Morgan's weakest subject, so a lot of their early interactions involve him tutoring her, except there's hardly any actual tutoring going on because they're teenagers with crushes on each other, so of course, they awkwardly flirt with each other instead.

While Morgan did have crushes in the past, Tyson's the first guy she actually tried pursuing, and is her first boyfriend.

also, they're both bisexual. important to know.

Tyson was really nervous about their first Valentine's Day because he knew he was Morgan's first boyfriend, and he wanted to make sure he really swept her off her feet, but he's just a Boy !!! He doesn't know how to sweep anyone off their feet !! He ends up awkwardly going to the Philip house when, of course, Edward is there, and tries to ask Robert for advice, but Robert's like "I'm the worst person you could possibly ask, and please don't listen to him, Morgan does not want you to serenade her."

In the end, Tyson plans a picnic at the park, and they watch the clouds, and eat chocolate, and it's wonderful, and Morgan loves it !!

Also, while Morgan might not admit it, she wouldn't have minded if Tyson sang for her because she knows he can sing, and can play guitar, and she loves his voice.

Been thinking more about what teen Morgan might be into, and I randomly settled on volleyball, and when she tries out for the team, Tyson's really excited about it. He plays basketball, and when they can, they go to each other's games and cheer each other on.

Morgan definitely steals his letterman jacket regularly, and Tyson teases her about it because it's so big on her.

Malvina is not. Thrilled about them dating because she's still not the biggest fan of Giselle, but she's trying !!! She really is. And Tyson appreciates the effort. And while she doesn't care that much for Giselle, she does think Morgan's a nice girl.

Giselle, on the other hand, is very happy about it, and doesn't think twice about the fact that he's Malvina's son.

A lot of their early "dates" consisted of them babysitting Sofia at the park (which, Morgan kind of used babysitting as an excuse to go see him, but it worked out because Sofia got to play with worms !!)

There's like, a million different festivals, and gatherings, and town parties in Monroeville, and Tyson always takes Morgan. She isn't a huge fan of socializing, or dancing, but she will allow herself to be dragged around by her boyfriend, because it makes him happy.

Tyson is tall !! (6ft apparently) and Morgan is Not, and usually she loves it, but sometimes he messes with her by holding stuff above up above their heads so she can't reach, and it drives her nuts.

It takes awhile before Morgan feels comfortable telling Tyson about Andalasia, because she was worried about what would happen if they broke up, and she wasn't sure she wanted share family secrets like that. But eventually, she does tell him, and he's just like. "Wow. That explains... a lot. So, you weren't just being sarcastic when you said your mom is made of magic...?"

He gets to visit Andalasia a few times, and thinks it's really cool !!

After they graduate high school, they move into a little apartment in the city (they're lucky they both have rich parents who will happily pay for whatever they want) and go to college, and live happily ever after, etc. etc.

Also, neither of them can cook like. At All. They bicker back and forth about it because "all your mom does is bake, how do you not know anything!!!" "that's all your mom does too !!!!!! why don't you know anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" but they learn eventually !!! eventually !!

when was the last time you cried? - i cried (on the inside) when i opened my exam papers, today's one was horrendous lmaooo but i'm so glad that they're over! idk when the last time i cried was.

what sports do you play/have you played? - i was sporty back in high school! i did volleyball, badminton, running! not competitively except the running, i took part in the athletics competitions! now i don't do any sports, i'm too lazy ahaha!
