Getting sales calls at work is so much fun because I'm in a position where I get to tell them "No thanks :D" and watch them scramble
#emails are much more boring since I just ignore those#everyone wants to schedule a follow up in case we change our minds#some accept “no” better than others#most of the time I think they're happy to just mark us off their list and move on#but I had one guy try and call every month for like a year before he finally gave up#that was a while ago but I still remember his name and company haha#which I guess is the point but yeah that was a little annoying#real life stuff#mathmusic talks

I'd love to see a Future Leo fic where more than just Leo comes back
He's first, yeah, but like a month later Future Donnie shows up. Everyone's understandably delighted, baffled, etc.
The gang chalks it up to Mikey's magic hands and winking and decides not to question too much
Then Mikey shows up
He would appear in the nick of time, right at the climax of some huge fight or something and save the day--maybe the Foot Clan nearly steals the key back and Future Mikey swoops in and tips the balance so our heroes can nab it back and destroy it for good
Once the dust settles, Future Mikey gives them all a big grin and says Raph will be there in a sec. Future Leo has to sit down.
Once all four original turtles are together again, they all group up around Future Mikey. With their help, he opens a time portal back to the future, which is bright and beautiful and alive, and they all go back and live happily ever--
Oh man, wait--that means Casey has to choose tho
Oofta
...I really wanna say he stays with the teenagers for whatever reason. Like, especially if we take the approach that he was Cassandra's cousin's kid and she adopted him when there was no one else left--then in the new future, Casey would have parents he never really knew, and he already has a home here in the past, and somehow it just magically works--like maybe his real parents have a baby girl instead or something. I dunno y'all I'm just spitballing here
I'm still way too new in the fandom to write anything, and I'm not at all familiar with the NYC setting outside of pop culture, so I don't know if I'll ever write in it anyway.
But I'd read that fic

I was known as The Picky One in my family too--onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc. were my worst enemies. Now that I'm an adult, I found out I have GERD and some other as-of-yet undiagnosed health issues, and literally all the things I didn't like as a kid now ruin my gut health to the point that I can confidently say I have an intolerance to them. They literally make me sick every time I try them.
I still question myself sometimes--like, what begat what in this case? Should I have just eaten more of those things, not less? Could it actually be a moral failing of mine?--but it's happened with foods I loved, too (peanut butter my beloved, why did you betray me), so I'd like to think that little me recognized that these foods hurt my tummy even if it wasn't serious enough yet to be diagnosed.
Please be kind to picky eaters. They might have a lot going on behind the scenes and don't need more judgment.
Petition to please start viewing being a picky eater as something more akin to a disability than some kind of moral failing
Like come on do you really think people are just choosing to be picky eaters for no reason? That they want to be picky eaters? I'm a picky eater and I hate it. Trust me if I could flip a switch and suddenly have my taste buds like everything I don't currently I would in a heartbeat.
So many people will say "oh you just have to force yourself to eat something it's not that bad" like No You Don't Get It I genuinely would rather not eat than force myself to eat something I don't want to. I have chosen and will activately choose to eat nothing over eating something I don't like. I would rather feel sick from not eating than spend an entire meal resisting the urge to throw up.
I'm a pretty easy going person. I have brothers who tease me to no end and it doesn't bother me. I get made fun of for being short All The Time and I genuinely dont care, because I dont mind being short. But the one thing I can't stand is people making fun of me for being a picky eater. Or even just mentioning that I'm a picky eater. Like Yes I'm Aware. It Sucks. No Need To Rub It In. Please Stop.
Please please please be kinder to picky eaters. It's not something we can control, and we shouldn't have to be ridiculed for it.
Anyways sorry for the mini rant this is just one of the few things I can't stand and I'm so sick of it.

20 Questions for Writers
Thanks for the tag @musewrangler!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 17
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 395,117
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Aside from random one-shots, mostly Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars, but I have some Lego Monkie Kid things coming up :D
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Lost and Found – Fives and Kix (Star Wars)
Only Partially Applied (Star Wars)
Wow, What a Coincidence (TMNT)
WWAC Extras (TMNT)
Ice Cream Makes Everything Better (TMNT)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to! I have a small pile I’m meaning to get to tho haha
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
At the moment, probably Only Partially Applied, mostly because it’s an angsty fic and I don’t know if I’ll come back to finish it
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably a tie between Lost and Found and WWAC. If I had to choose I’d say Lost and Found, being a Star Wars fix-it/happiness AU and all. WWAC had more of a build-up to the happy ending, though, while Lost and Found it was kind of fun last-second twist
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I have a few crossover once-shots, plus WWAC if you count multiple iterations of tmnt as crossovers.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Don’t think so
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not really? Not a fan fic, at least—I collaborated with friends for some original fics when we were kids. Lately I’ll talk through ideas and have a couple of shared AUs with a few select people, but those haven’t been fully written or shared yet.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I’m not a super shippy person. Some ships are done well, but it’s not generally what I look for when I’m reading or writing. The last shippy stuff I read and liked was Zelda and Link (Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom), but I’m not a die-hard on any of them.
For example, probably my favorite romcom fic I’ve ever read was TP Link and Zelda, but I’d love to see TP Link with Ilia in a healthy relationship that doesn’t end in tragedy (not sure why the fandom keeps doing that to them). I haven’t found a fic like that yet, though, and I don’t care enough to write my own.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Ahhh Only Partially Applied my poor child. You deserved better. Also the Lost and Found sequel. There wasn’t a ton of plot, but I had a few concepts I’d hoped to put out there (like a little Omega/Cal Kestis action).
16. What are your writing strengths?
Convoluted plots. Also maintaining a character’s individual voice and motivations. I want to say dialog, but it really depends on the day for me.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Exposition. Filler scenes and stuff that helps a fic feel more like a full and complete story when it’s done right. Some of my favorite fics to read are slowburns that do this extremely well, but I tend to get impatient and rush things when I write.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I used to be all over it when I was a kid, but after seeing it from others, I realized it’s not my favorite thing to read unless it’s handled a certain way, like including certain words for multi-lingual characters to add to realism, or entire sentences to show that the main character (and audience) aren’t expected to recognize what a certain character is saying. Things like that. As a writer I personally avoid it now.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
On AO3? Undertale. First ever? My Little Pony, I guess? I hadn’t even seen the show, just played with the toys and started writing stories about them, if that counts.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Ooo probably Lost and Found. It was my first long fic, and written in a frenzy of inspiration without a super firm plan beforehand. I was super burned out by the end, but it was a ton of fun and I gained a lot of friends along the way.
Have to give WWAC a shoutout, though. It was longer, actually planned out, and had a Dracula-Daily style posting schedule that made last-minute chapters super rushed, but it was an absolute joy to write, and I hope to continue the story a bit further.
If you read this far, consider yourself tagged!

Legend of Zelda Fic and Comic Recs
Guess I've read enough fics and comics to do one of these now
(General warning for strong language and canon-typical violence)
Comics
- @linkeduniverse (LU), a fandom classic, excellent art, intriguing story
- @ovegakart's stuff is awesome--there are several ongoing series and lots of LU references
- @bonus-links, a Links meet AU, lovely art, I'm interested to see where it goes
- TOTK "Eternal" by @blueskittlesart, two-shot, very pretty and poetic
Fics
Uncategorized fics:
- Dimensional Links by ChangelingRin. A Links meet AU that isn't Linked Universe. Very fun and chaotic
Twilight Princess fics:
- Dear Hero by @\thecagedsong. A post-canon Twilight Princess rom-com that's not only hilarious but insightful, packed with lore, and has excellent characterizations. I'm not usually into rom coms but this one was fantastic
- A Tale Past Twilight: Forked Tongues by GrayGuard06. A post-canon Twilight Princess fic where Link goes to help a village with a monster problem and walks into a whole can of worms. Note the violence tag, but it's got plot and a good ending
Breath of the Wild fics:
- The Girl at the Museum by wavebreeze. Modern AU, sort of a meet-cute, short and sweet. I don't usually go for these but it was surprisingly fun
- Feast by webcomix. Tw grief but super cute/heartwarming way for Link and Zelda to meet as kids
- Hold Your Destiny by webcomix. Long fic, basically a novelization of pre-calamity BOTW, loved the characterization (sequel is LU-related)
- A Hero's Spirit by SilvermistAnimeLover. Long fic, Link basically dies defeating Calamity but his spirit gets stuck in a limbo state so he's still able to help Hyrule start recovering from 100 years of destruction (sequel is LU-related)
Linked Universe (LU) Related fics:
- all of @zolanort/Cullhach's fics are delightful
- Willow Bark and Chamomile by schrodingers__cat. The Chain gets separated and confused. Legend has never been more prepared for anything in his life
- Rain and Mountain Climbing Don't Mix by Isti-Tanu. A fun little one-shot of Wild being wild and everyone reacting as expected
- Whistling on Deaf Ears by CrimsonRavioli. A hurt/comfort fic (heavier on hurt but has a happy ending) where Twilight's sensitive hearing works against him
- Running with the Wolves by alternatemind. The Chain wonders if Wolfie is lonely and decide to do something about it. Light angst, mostly fluff
- Dog Days AU series by alternatemind. Twilight-centric AU where Twilight gets stuck as a wolf just before he meets the Chain. Hilarity ensues
- The More Things Change series by Iffondrel. The Chain compares and contrasts references to their own worlds while they explore Wild's Hyrule, includes TOTK content
- Language Barriers by Kastaborous. The Chain meets Wild fic where the 10,000 year gap between other heroes is acknowledged through language drift. Interesting and entertaining read
- A Home for Flowers by faufaren. The Chain meets Elderitch!Wild. Charming characterization and storytelling
- What Hero? by AimeeLouWrites. (tw gaslighting) The Chain meets Wild fic where Wild thinks they're Yiga and pretends that there is no hero, and then never quite really decides to tell them when the game is over. Borderline crackfic, very fun read
- Child's Play by AimeeLouWrites. The Chain meets Wild fic, de-aged Wild and Flora meet the Chain and decide to be as confusing as possible
- Level One by LightBlueScrubs. Linked Universe Hospital AU where everyone (except Wild) is a doctor working in a trauma unit (where Wild is the patient). First couple chapters are a bit squeamish due to being very medically realistic, but a great fic overall
#I have read SO many loz fics lately haha#fic recs#Legend of Zelda fic recs#comic recs#y'all are so talented#mathmusic talks#if anyone else has recs please let me know!

My parents have their big Christmas party the Saturday before the 25th every year to accommodate how many of us have obligations tp in-laws, so our 100% home-cooked feasts today included:
Breakfast:
Biscuits and gravy
Egg casserole
Pancakes with bugs (i.e. sausage) along with 3-4 different kinds of syrup
Fruit (grapes, pineapple, red raspberries, and blueberries)
Nice cold milk
Lunch:
Mac and cheese (with shell pasta)
Lasagna
Chicken fettuccine alfredo
Garlic bread
Fruit (grapes and strawberries)
(there was also a veggie platter but it made a late appearance and therefore wasn't used much)
Dinner
Tacos (both hard and soft), our choice of pork or green chile beef, plus all the usual toppings (lettuce, olives, cheese, salsa, guacamole, etc.)
Desserts:
Chocolate brownies with peanut butter frosting
Scandinavian almond bars
Glueten-free M&M cookies that actually tasted good
Homemade vanilla ice cream
Various other chocolate and candies etc.
Tomorrow I'll be with my fiancé's family, and we're having schnitzel made with real veal (which is apparently hard to find in our local grocery stores), so yeah, lots going on food-wise for me this weekend :D
Alright what’s everyone eating this weekend lay it on me Redwall-style

Oreo pie anyone?
(Recipe and more pics of the process under the cut)
1 package oreos
1 (8 oz) cream cheese
1 c. Powdered sugar
1 large package chocolate pudding
1 large cool whip (16 oz)
2 2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup (1 cube) butter
Crush cookies, add to butter and press into pan (use more butter if desired), save 1/2 cup cookies for top. Mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and half the whipped cream. Spread on top of crust. Mix milk and pudding and let sit for a few minutes, then pour on top of cream cheese mixture. Top with the rest of the whipped cream and the remaining cookie crumbs. Store in fridge (it's a good idea to let it cool for a couple of hours so the butter in the crust can firm up a bit)
Half recipe:
1/2 package oreos
1/2 (4 oz) cream cheese
1/2 c. Powdered sugar
1 small package (3.4 oz) chocolate/vanilla pudding
1 medium cool whip
1 1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup (1/2 cube) butter
#this is my first time putting both in the same dish#fingers crossed it turns out#diabetes on a plate#oreo pie#mathmusic talks#happy thanksgiving!

The Chosen show does such a good job with portraying real struggles from everyday life. We talk a lot about Matthew (for good reason), and I just also want to say that I love Andrew.
As a snarky younger sibling and as someone who struggles with anxiety myself, I really appreciate how Andrew was cast and all the mannerisms he uses—the stuttering, the gasping, the way his desperation feels real—it’s very well done.
I do have one criticism about the show, though, and this might just be a me thing, but I didn't like how they changed that one line in the Sermon on the Mount to something like “Who can add a single hour to his life by being anxious?”
That was pretty jarring to me, mostly because that’s not what Jesus said (unless there’s a cultural euphemism that I’m missing here). He said, in essense, “Who can make themselves a foot taller by being anxious?” (Matthew 6:27) which feels like a pretty different message than talking about lifespan.
I mean, there are lots of things that we do that affect our lifespan, but there aren’t many ways we can just grow a foot taller, especially for adults.
To me, the Savior is emphasizing that we don’t need to worry about things we can’t control. And even with things you can control, remember to seek God first, and then the rest will fall into place better.
Maybe that’s ultimately what the show was trying to say as well, but I disagree with the notion that making choices out of anxiety won't affect our lifespans, because they very much can. If I wasn't an anxious driver, I wouldn't pay near so much attention to the road, and that could lead to serious consequences. And yeah, there's a fine line between being anxious and just being mindful, but we're getting into the weeds here and that's not the intent of this post.
My point is that the original imagery that the Savior used was much simpler, and it resonated with me (an anxious person) a lot better, and I was sad that the writers of The Chosen felt the need to make that change to the sermon.
Still love the show though. Even this one criticism has led me to think a lot about the Sermon on the Mount this week and how it relates to me specifically, which has been super cool
#the chosen#the chosen spoilers#slight criticism#anxiety#mathmusic talks#christianity#sermon on the mount#I think part of the reason they made the change was because adding an hour to your life is a lot more emotionally striking concept#than just growing taller#but that's another issue (at least in my opinion)#I don't get over my anxiety by being even more emotional#I get over it by putting the situation into true perspective#which usually means shrinking things down to real facts#big emotional catchphrases/ideas tend to get in the way of that#I'm just rambling now sorry#I just have a lot of thoughts about this#Jesus knew what He was doing when He gave this sermon#and that's also been super cool to think about

This is an appreciation post for “The Property of Hate”. It’s a long one—I’ve been following it for more than 3 years now—but each update has been filling and enlightening, and then I reread a good chunk of it today and made so many more subtle connections that I’d missed before--it flows together incredibly well and circles back on so many things you'd half forgotten and makes them interesting again.
It’s charming. It’s very dream-like. It’s deep.
Highly recommend.
Also the same artist has other equally charming, beautiful, and deep short stories which you can find over here: Jolley Comics

Tags from @rwggrace2:
I think this is why after a certain amount of villain-monologuing, we as an audience start feeling more annoyed than terrified
The creature that wants to kill you will not growl.
The function of a growl is as a warning. It is a communication that violence is available as a tool, but is not preferred. Other outcomes, besides your death, are available and should be considered.
But the creature that wants to kill you will not growl.
If your death is the goal, then growling will only serve as a delay and may result in your escape, which runs counter to the goal. There will be no growl, no warning. There will be no snarl or hiss or bluster. The creature that bares its teeth with the intent to kill only does so to bring closer its fangs to your demise.
The creature that growls does not want to kill you, but will if it must.
I advise you to appreciate the warning. You may not receive another.
