My friends and i originally wanted to go during valentines day kaso ang lakas nung ulan?? So we then cancelled the trip pero super spontaneous din kasi i thought di na tuloy pero the next morning nabigla nalang ako nasa dorm room ko na yung friend ko.

Everyone in the Philippines has been waiting for this season, especially the students (No more class! It’s 3 months vacation! Yehey!). And by now, many are very excited for their out-of-town beach getaways, friends and family alike. Sparkling crystal clear water, shimmering powdery white sand, warm blue skies, jaw-dropping majestic sunrise, postcard-perfect backdrop, and gorgeous beach bummers — Oh! Summer is love, don’t you agree?

Canigao is an islet located in the Philippines, near the municipality of Matalom, Leyte. The area is known for abundant fishing grounds and scenic coral reef areas suitable for diving.

Once known as the fishermen’s sanctuary in the municipality of Matalom, Canigao Island has become a major tourist destination in Eastern Visayas since 2005 and has gained overwhelming popularity recently.

Well, becoming a traveler is not just about setting foot in a new place and taking selfies, but discovering and experiencing the beauty of nature — the essence of travelling, as they say.

Set up a hammock in any of the sturdy trees. Once done, lay down, close your eyes, feel the cool sea breeze, listen to the soothing sound of ocean waves and chirping of migratory birds, and doze off to sleep for a few minutes to rejuvenate your senses. Alternatively, you can get your favorite book and read with the sea breeze on your face. Or, you can just lay down and look at the beautiful surrounding — different types of tree species, clear turquoise water, sparkling white sand, warm skies, rare cloud formation, and so much more.

“Aninipot” A 20 ft tall mangrove that attracts fireflies and fruit bats. Pagatpat Seafood Restaurant is located by the seashore where several century-old mangrove trees are situated called Pagatpat (Tagalog). They have delectable selection of fresh seafood. You can choose on the menu an ala carte or bilao type or more like a boodlefight kind. We ordered our food ala carte in the front desk as well as we selected the crabs, shrimps and shells inside a bucket to be cooked. If they ran out of stock shells, they just harvest the varieties of shells ashore tied in the small boats in the mangrove areas. It takes 20 minutes or more to cooked our food. I added some pork and chicken for me coz’ I am allergic to these crustaceans. I just enjoyed watching Kristine and Eunice consumed their seafood. I really wanted to try the shells but I forgot to bring some anti histamines with me. I might get in trouble and cause my companions panic, lol I just asked them what it taste like. They simply said it taste very shelly, shrimpy and crabby! Bwahahaha Sorry I can’t relate. Anyway, the fried chicken was seasoned and coated well to crisp while the grilled pork belly is bit hard. The price is affordable and a lot cheaper than that of the seafoods we ordered in the baywalk in the other town. #PHnews: Gov't work, classes in east Visayas suspended due to ‘Auring’

TACLOBAN CITY – Several local government units in Eastern Visayas have suspended classes and work in the government sector on Monday due to threats of tropical depression “Auring” in the region.

Since Sunday, local authorities have been issuing executive orders as precautionary measures in anticipation of strong winds and heavy rains.

Among the local governments that suspended work and classes are Tacloban City, Jaro, Tanauan, Tolosa, Carigara, Tabontabon, Mahaplag, and Matalom in Leyte; Naval, Almeria, Kawayan, Cabucgayan, Culaba, and Caibiran; Macrohon, Sogod, and Silago in Southern Leyte.

Exempted from work suspension are those involved in the maintenance of peace and order, disaster risk management, health and sanitation, and traffic management.

Local governments have decided to suspend work and classes after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised tropical cyclone wind signal no. 2 in some parts of Leyte and Samar provinces.

It was downgraded to signal no. 1 late Sunday as the weather disturbance weakened from a tropical storm to a tropical depression.

As of 7 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 205 kilometers east northeast of Maasin City, Southern Leyte or 85 km. east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55kph. It is moving north-northwestward at 20 kph.

The weather bureau warned early Monday that heavy rains brought by "Auring" may trigger flooding in major river systems in the Eastern Visayas region.

In an advisory, PAGASA identified several rivers in six provinces that would likely be affected by the downpour.

These rivers are Sangputan, Palo, Solano, Daguitan, Marabong, Cadacan, Bongquirogon, Salug, Pagbanagaran, Pagsangahan, and Binahaan in Leyte; and Catarman, Bugko, Pambujan, Catubig, Palapag, Mano, and Gamay in Northern Samar.

Other affected rivers are in Oras, Dolores, Ulot, Taft, Borongan, Suribao, Llorente, Balangiga, and Sulat in Eastern Samar; Basey, Silaga, Calbiga, and Jibatan in Samar; Bisay, Himbangan, and Pandan in Southern Leyte; and all river systems in Biliran.

People living in low-lying areas near these river systems have been advised to stay alert for possible flash floods.

Those residing near mountain slopes have been told to watch out for signs of landslides. (PNA)
