Okay, time for some lore: So it's been revealed in this game, as well as the Mr. Driller series (Dig Dug's spin-off series), that Taizo Hori, the Dig Dug guy, was once married to Masuyo Toby from Baraduke. But then, the two divorced for unknown reasons (Or maybe there was a reason, I just forgot what it was)

So yeah, what I'm saying is that Taizo married a character from another game by Bandai Namco, and then they eventually divorced.

Would you guys believe me if I told you that this guy right here is the Dig Dug guy?
