"That way you will know how to take the test next week, remember to study the multiplication table from number 2 to 6, if you have one..."

Before teacher Rose could finalize her orientations regarding the test that that class would have next week, a light and loud knock could be heard. Asking permission from the students, she directed her to the door to receive that she was looking for her, when she opened Rose found the principal of the school accompanied by a small girl, she had brown hair, long with curly hair and a red tiara on top, in addition to her yellow shoes caught the teacher's attention.

While Rose watches the child physically, she ended up going unnoticed by the eldest girl's nervousness, she had the fingers of her right hand hitting and squeezing her skirt, after all classes had started a few days ago and here she was entering the class suddenly, it could even be seen as something calm, but for Luna it was as if everyone was looking at her and judging her for this attitude.

"Sorry to interrupt your class, but we have a new addition in our high school this year." Said the director as she caressed the top of Luna's head. "Her name is Luna Lancellotti, she and her family moved to the country and trusted us to help her at this stage, right Luna?"

"Uh huh." Luna briefly agrees. "Can I do it tomorrow, Madam? I'm scared and I don't want to be here without my mother."

Before the principal could answer the child, a noise caught the attention of the three in the hallway, the class had started twenty minutes away so it was not expected that a student would arrive now, but there was a boy running with his backpack open and some books in his hand. Luna turned her head a little, as the director's body got in the way of her seeing what was happening. The person responsible for the sound was a dark-haired boy who wore very fun clothes, especially his Melman blouse from the movie Madagascar, this caught Luna's attention who let out a slight laugh when some leaves fell from the middle notebook while the boy was still running.

While the teacher and the principal said something about schedules and responsibilities Luna turned and started walking to the place where the boy had bent down to pick up the papers, before saying anything the girl bent down too and started to put the papers together, she could see that he was studying math, specifically multiplication tables, She was excited because she had reviewed this content with her mother in the change so as not to be embarrassed at the new school. However, Luna was so busy picking up all the papers that she didn't notice the looks of astonishment directed at her.

"You're new." Nicholas says still standing on the ground.

"Yes." Luna replies as she extends her hand, there were all the papers she had taken. There were not many, but they all seemed important since they had made the boy run as fast as he could to catch it. "You could use an elastic folder to store loose papers, I do that much better."

"Yes, I think it should." After organizing all the paperwork and storing it in their backpack, they both got up and went to meet the adults. "You didn't tell me your name. Mine is Nicholas."

"Mine is Luna, my mother chose it because she loves the moon." A small smile appears on the lips of the girls. "Why do you call Nicholas?"

"Your name is beautiful, like you." Nicholas smiles shyly. "Hmm my name... Well, I think because my mother likes the name. I never asked her that." The boy laughs amused by the girl's answer. "Are you going to be from Mrs. Rose's office? That's cool, we can be friends if we want."

"Well... I don't know if you'd like to be my friend, you don't know me and you may not want to talk later."

"You can't help but talk to friends, besides you helped me and I want to thank you for that. So you can count on me for anything at school and outside, especially to play."

"I liked the last part Nicholas."

"Oh, you can call me Nick. My friends call me that."

Luna just agreed with the statement smiling, she loved Nicholas' fun and carefree personality, after all he looked a bit like his older brother Miguel, she hoped he wouldn't make jokes with his shoes and my colorful ones like his brother. Many times Luna forgot that Miguel teased her in front of her friends, but from the last year to this the games decreased and Luna attributed this to her brother getting older.

"I see that your tardiness has allowed you to meet a new friend." Rose says watching the arrival of the two children by her side. "I hope you have a good excuse this time Nicholas, I'm starting to get worried about these delays."

"I see that you are in good hands now Luna, I am sure you will enjoy giving teacher Rose. " The director looks towards the girl who is now smiling as if she had won her favorite candy. "Any questions you can contact me and I will always be available, in addition I recommend that you talk to Nicholas so that he can give you the complete content."

"Right, thank you." Luna responds as she hugs the woman's legs, her size made the whole scene even more fun.

"Good class kids, meet me in the meeting room after lunch teacher Rose, we still have some topics to deal with."

Rose quickly agrees before returning her attention to the pair of students in front of her. The teacher was amused by the brief interaction in the hallway and thought it would be a smart choice to let them both be together. "Well, I think that's our cue for us to enter. Come on Luna, I'll introduce you to the gang."

Holding her small hand in Professor Luna's, she entered first and then Nicholas with his head down, possibly embarrassed, the girl thought. Walking to the center of the class, Luna observed the entire space that would become her study room for the next few years, in its extension there were posters and images that explained some content in a summarized way, what caught her attention the most was a mural with several drawings, each one had been made by a student and contained the respective name. In addition to the decorations on the walls, Luna noticed that each student was sitting next to another, unlike her old school in which the desk was individual. The girl watched Nicholas pass by her and walk to a desk, she was a little sad to see that he already had a colleague next to him, after all he seemed to be someone nice to have next to.

"Let's all welcome our new school, that's Luna." Rose's words attract the girl's attention. "Say hello."

"Hello Luna." Everyone present speaks in unison, that action brought the feeling of nervousness to Luna again. Gradually she felt her breathing becoming more difficult and heavier, and as if it were a necessary help Nicholas's voice caught her attention again that morning.

"Hey, you said earlier that you're called Luna because of the Moon, didn't you?"

"Really?" A girl asks in awe. "Wow, I'd love to have that name, mine is Lucy because of my grandmother."

"Yes, it's true. My mother studies the stars and she says that the Moon is important to Earth and she says that I am very important to her." Luna felt safe in answering the girl, gaining a smile as she finished the speech. "I also have a brother called Miguel, because my grandfather also had that name."

"How cool Luna, is your brother going to study with us too?" The girl asked again.

"No, he's 4 years older than me."

"Well, now that everyone knows Luna, it's time to choose a colleague to spend the next few years with." Rose returns to speech before the subject continues. "Today there are 3 colleagues who were absent, so you can wait for them and stay by my side or else..."

"Nicholas." Luna points in the direction of her colleague. "He was nice to me and he liked my name."

With Luna's speech, everyone in the room began to whisper softly saying that she was liking Nicholas. Certainly Luna was even more embarrassed now, after all how could she not choose him when he was the only one who was talking, otherwise she would have to stay all day with her teacher, the second option was out of Luna's choices.

"I'd love to be your classmate, it's easier for us to play together."

"You promised Nick, it's just going to be a show." Luna exclaims as she puts on her sneakers in her room, at that moment she was getting ready to go to the One Direction concert that would start in a few hours. "Also, you owe me one for covering up for you when you traveled with your friends in secret."

"For a kind person you are proving yourself quite different, unforeseen events happen." Nicholas answers from the room. "You know I've been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, plus I can make it in time for the show to start."

"What if they ask you to do more things? Joining a football team is not getting there and kicking for 10 minutes and that's it, you can do it." The sounds of footsteps on the stairs of the house caught the attention of Nicholas who put aside his cell phone and looked towards the place.

"Is it good? I'm in doubt if I change my skirt and put on pants, after all it can rain or something unforeseen happens and hurt me. With the pants..." Nicholas was more than used to moments like these, where Luna talked non-stop and didn't realize that it was just her anxiety.

"Hey." Nicholas gets up and walks over to his friend, the girl was now on the last step and holding the railing. "You're a faithful copy of Zayn in Best Song Ever, much prettier if you allow me."

"You say that because you're my friend."

"I'd say the same thing if I was on the show and you were a total stranger."

Luna raised her gaze to find Nicholas smiling at her, if her friend's attempt was to calm her down, the same just did. For a person in love in books and movies it was a plot known to her, falling in love with her best friend, besides that Nicholas was a real color for the eyes and everyone, child or adult, woman or man, after all how not to fall in love with a polite boy with a charming smile like his?

Many times the young woman asked her not to be so shy and insecure with herself, but while asking for it she wondered what to do if she had the courage to at least say how she feels. Would Nicholas reciprocate? Would he kiss her and be together? Or worse, would he ignore her completely and forget that they were ever friends? Why is it so difficult to express yourself in real life? I do it so well online.

"I'll deal with it then." Both join their hands and shake three times, that was a habit between the duo whenever they made a decision or made a deal.

"Taking advantage of the moment and I would like you to promise to call me when you leave the show, even going to sleep at Nicholas' house you know I care about you. " Giuliana, Luna's mother, walks up to the duo, she was in the kitchen preparing lunch. "And don't forget to tell Liam that I love him."

"Surely he already knows that, mom, after all, all mothers love him."

"Have fun and good luck with your audition Nicholas, I'm sure you'll get this spot." Giuliana says as she hugs her daughter sideways.

"I thank you for the support, even though I am confident, nervousness is part of it." Nicholas answers more come while fixing her hair, her locks were bigger and that look, for Luna, reminded her of Harry Styles.

Would I be like that for him because of Harry or would it be the other way around? In any case, both are beautiful.

Letting go of the hug Luna walks next to Nicholas to the car, in the middle of the ride she involuntarily squints her arms again, she felt happy when they were like this, it seemed like they would never part and so she hoped it would be. Luna could imagine any situation in her future, bad grades, riding her bike around the city, running downtown or even skipping some class to leave early, the only thing she asked was that they not separate.

"Thank you for being my friend, I think that if it were today I would never have asked to sit next to you at school." Nicholas takes his backpack and puts it in the trunk of the car. "You're too popular."

"Well, it would be impossible to have a vacant seat next to me." He proudly responds to his speech, only for Luna to roll her eyes. "What's wrong? You started it."

"Yes, next time I need to remember to be silent."

Luna sits in the center of the car, on her left side was Nicholas' younger brother and he sat on her right side. The trip to the concert arena had been long and as Nicholas' mother said the congestion was great, causing a delay of thirty minutes.

"Honey, if anything happens until Nicholas arrives, let us know, before 8 pm he should arrive." The friend's mother tells Luna, in agreement she just nods in agreement.

"If Harry kidnaps you first call me and I'll be running from the court to here, I can't let him take my girl." Nicholas opens the door and gives Luna space to get out of the car.

What did he just say? Is this true or am I imagining these words coming out of his mouth? Great, my belly and feet are already cold again.

"Keep dreaming about it, you'll hear from me on the internet when I arrive in London." Luna responds before turning to her friend. "Now leaving this reality of a show, I want to wish you good luck and that's why I did this little embroidery. He's got a book and a ball, you know, you like to write and play that I thought would be cool to make for you to leave in your pocket." "Luna...." Nicholas takes the small embroidery in his hands, the colors were vibrant compared to the white background of the fabric, under the designs there was his name and a signature, it was Luna's. "You left me speechless with this, right or wrong I will keep this with me forever. Thank you."

The boy opens his arms inviting his friend for a hug, she quickly reciprocates and squeezes his friend's body tightly. Luna really wanted him to get this spot, as it would add extra points to his big one, helping him get into college even more.

"Now go, this won't be any luck if you're not even there." Luna lets go of the hug first. "You can do it."

Luna was sitting at the table next to some students she knew during her school years, among them her friends Lucy, from preschool, as well as James, David and Megan, they had been together for a few years and loved to make plans together, the only problem is that at the prom someone would be left and it was Luna. Lucy was paired with James and David with Megan, the young woman thought about asking Nicholas, but when he announced that he had been dating for a few months his plan was soon discarded, after all the chances that he would leave his girlfriend to go with his friend were not a good thing in people's eyes.

While considering the options of who to invite and coming to the conclusion that the only one who would be a fun option was Dean Jones, his partner in some subjects and a very nice and fun guy. Before she got the courage to invite Luna was surprised by Dean's direct invitation, he said it would be an honor to accompany her to the ball and that they would be together, Luna accepted on the spot because it would be impossible for him to change his mind, right?

Because here was Luna alone while Dean danced with his friends on the floor, he told her it would be quick, but it had been almost an hour and the boy seemed still in the energy of a few more hours of dancing. A sigh left Luna's lips as she looked at the room, another song started and it could only be Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran, the song wasn't bad, but the countless times she heard it was making her stressed out with it. A few minutes before she tried to talk to the person responsible for the sound asking if it would be possible to play one for her, but he simply replied that it was programmed by the director, that is, with no chance of having Kpop or One Direction for Luna, at least she tried.

"I'm going to get some air, this song is giving me a headache." Luna brings her face closer to Lucy so she could hear. "If by any chance Dean asks for me, tell me I'm gone."

"Be careful, even if you only have soda here you will see that the rooms have become conveniences with all kinds of alcohol."

"I hope they have chocolate, a kitkat would go down well now."

When Lucy answered, the pair laughed in amusement at the speech, with a kiss from the cheek Luna began to walk down the court to one of the corridors that took her to the entrance of the school. The space was known in the palm of the hand, corridor on the right would lead to four room options, namely, mathematics, biology, physics and the gymnastics club, only the first three were known to Luna, after all she was anything but athletic. Thinking about how this was one of the last days to explore the school, she decided to go to the last option, but even before entering the room, voices were noticed by Luna.

"Did you really say that? What the fuck Diana, you were kissing him." That voice. Luna knew very well who she belonged to. "I thought that was important to you too."

"Really, Nicholas? Now are you going to throw the responsibility on my side? I don't know how we got together to begin with, you're too clingy. It amazes me that Luna can put up with you for so many years."

"It doesn't change the subject, the fact of the next one is that it can't continue like this. I tried to understand once only that I didn't accept it again."

At that moment Luna felt she was making the worst choice of her life, it was a private moment and she should go back to the hall and face Ed Sheeran for the fourth time or go to the entrance of the school, where she would call her father to pick up and leave this matter between Nicholas and his girlfriend. Before deciding which of the options would follow a noise of something falling took her out of her thoughts, that was the final reason for her to get out of there, but contrary to what she had thought Luna found herself walking to the physics room where the voices were present.

"I hate you Nicholas, you ruined the night that was supposed to be important." Diana says in a higher tone. "You should go after your dog, she is alone since she was abandoned by you and your own partner.

"Just for Diana to call Luna those names, by God. How did I put up with you for so long?"

"Oh, we both know why." Diana laughs mischievously. "That's enough, I'm going to get out of here before someone finds us."

"I'm nobody's dog, after all for a girl who loves to say she supports women you certainly don't keep your words. " Luna enters the room before Diana or Nicholas have even had the opportunity to leave. "Also, if you're cheating on my friend with some other guy, you'd better rethink saying you love him, because..."

"I told you it was your dog, see?" Diana gestures to Luna and laughs in a mocking tone. "You saw us coming here and following you, don't worry my angel, we broke up. He's all yours again." The other girl leaves the room while blowing a kiss in the air and leaves humming Shape Of You.

"Damn, why is everyone singing this song?" Luna exclaims nervously before looking at Nicholas. "Sorry if I got in your way, I was mad at the way she was treating you."

Nicholas had his blouse unbuttoned and his hair messy, until that moment Luna hadn't noticed her friend since she was mad at Diana and wanted to help Nicholas in some way. Noticing how the boy was, Luna couldn't help but observe his abdomen, she had seen him shirtless so many times but would never get used to his physique.

"Luna?" Nicholas catches her friend's attention. "How are you?"

"Yes, I was just thinking I should have gone away and not gotten in the way." Luna responds as she sits at one of the tables still with her attention directed to Nicholas. "So... you and Diana?"

"It wasn't right, I knew that in the third week when I saw messages from her with a guy from school." The boy began to button his blouse. "She said it was all in my head and that they were just talking amicably, I think I accepted out of pride in ending a relationship in less than a month."

"Well, my brother says that before dating, people usually pretend to be a person just to conquer the other." Luna swings her feet in the air, suddenly the room seemed to be getting smaller.

"Not everyone." Nicholas' eyes meet Luna's the instant she answers her friend. "You wouldn't be able to lie to someone you liked."

"Well, you never know. Maybe I'm like that for you and my real self is worse than Diana." Nicholas laughs out loud. "What's the fun?"

"Luna, you would never be like Diana or anyone else you consider bad. " Nicholas walks towards Luna, both already had a considerable height difference and with the girl sitting it was even more evident. "You're the most polite and kind person I know, you cried watching The Hobbit trilogy, especially in the last one."

"Did you watch the movie? Thorin say the most beautifil phase to Frodo, in my opinion, and they was his last words...how not cry?

"Exactly for this reason. People who aren't truthful tend not to care about friends, only people who will help them get known." Nicholas strokes Luna's hair. "Thank you for coming here."

"Well, I was actually going to get some air and get away from Ed Sheeran and maybe come back." Luna smiles as she observes a small smile on Nicholas' lips. "Maybe it was my best friend instinct beeping to come here to help you."

"Best friend..." Nicholas mutters still staring at Luna. "Have you ever thought if we weren't friends?"

"But of course Nick, after all we've known each other for more than ten years and I think it's impossible to just delete you from my life. " Luna begins to ramble through realities where she and Nicholas would not be friends. "You know Nick, in some reality we can even be brothers, I believe it would be much better than Miguel with his unfunny jokes, even more so now that he managed to be approved in college, he doesn't stop bragging that he will continue to take care of me, because just at Columbia? He might as well have stayed where he was."

"Luna!" Nicholas exclaims louder, attracting his friend's attention.

"Sorry, I got carried away thinking out loud again." Luna smiles looking at Nicholas. "What did you say?"

"I called you because I wanted to know if..." Nicholas's gaze falters between Luna's eyes and lips.

"Hey Nick, we've been looking for you man, we..."

The door to the room opens sharply causing Nicholas to quickly move away from Luna, both were panting from fright as they couldn't imagine that someone would enter there.

"Oh man, sorry for getting in the way."

Nicholas just nodded as he fixed his hair nervously, when the door closed again the weight of reality fell on both of them. They would certainly kiss, if it wasn't for Nicholas' friends the kiss would definitely have happened. Afraid that the atmosphere between the two would become even stranger, Nicholas called Luna to leave in his car, a fact that the girl only agreed.

Both on the way to the car and the way to Luna's house they did with brief conversations about the decoration of the ball, clothes worn by the teachers and, especially, who would be the first to be caught drunk. Nicholas bet on David while Luna claimed that it would be Peter, Nicholas' friend who had messed them up earlier. At the mention of his friend Nicholas was quiet again, that attitude annoyed Luna a little who decided to speak before it was too late.

"Look Nick, about earlier I don't..." Luna starts, but ends up getting lost in words. " Know that nothing will change between us, you were in a bad moment and I don't blame you."

"Seriously Luna? You can just not accept the fact I was kissing you because I'm insensitive, I'd be taking advantage of you."

"Not when I want to kiss you back."

At the moment Luna finishes her sentence, the light turns red, forcing Nicholas to brake sharply at the signal. None of them say anything, they just looked at the road ahead while some cars crossed the great avenue in front of them. Luna had her hands joined in her lap, unlike the younger one they didn't tremble and she felt confident when she spoke as she felt with Nicholas for the first time, but otherwise her friend was sweating and afraid of what she could answer.

Is he really going to ignore me now? Maybe I should take the first step and say something else again.

"Nick if you..."

Before Luna even completed her sentence Nicholas' lips joined hers and a real explosion of anxiety and joy happened inside the two friends, Luna thought it was a dream and in a few minutes his alarm clock would go off, Nicholas thought he would wake up in the locker room after a quick nap from one workout to the next.

The moment of the kiss was as unexpected as it was overwhelming. When Nicholas's lips touched Luna's, everything around seemed to disappear. The red light, the cars passing on the avenue, even time itself seemed to freeze. Luna couldn't react immediately, her thoughts were disordered, but something inside her made her let herself go. It wasn't as if she needed an inner permission for that, but it was more like everything she'd felt for so long had finally found an outlet, a way to express herself.

The touch of their lips was soft, hesitant at first, as if they were both waiting to see what the other would do. Luna, with her eyes closed, felt her heart racing even more. She could feel Nicholas's warmth, the familiar smell she had always associated with security and friendship. But now, there was something else, an electricity in the air that she had never known existed between them. Their bodies were close together, but Luna's seat belt kept them apart, forcing them to move in an almost awkward manner.

Nicholas, in turn, was the first to give in to the pressure he felt in his chest. He put his hand on the back of her head, pulling her gently to him, deepening the kiss. Luna let out a sigh, and Nicholas' reaction was immediate. His breathing became heavier, more urgent, he needed more. The feeling of having something so real and visceral, something they had never experienced before, caused him to lose some control. At first, he hesitated, fearful that he was going too fast, but the softness with which Luna responded, the way she surrendered to the moment, made him forget any fear.

It was there, in that fleeting moment, that they realized that what was between them had always been more than friendship, but both had ignored it out of fear, out of insecurity, because they didn't know what to do with this new and overwhelming feeling. Luna felt Nicholas' touch on her waist, his warm palm against the cold skin of her blouse. She wanted more, but at the same time, she feared getting lost in this unexpected desire. She didn't know what was going on, but she felt that for some reason, everything was right. Nicholas' hands, on the contrary, were shaking slightly, as if he had given himself away without knowing how to turn back. What started there could not be undone so easily, and the truth is that he did not want to go back.

When the kiss stopped, they both stood there, still close, with their faces still close, breathing heavily. The tension in the car seemed to turn into something more palpable, deeper. Luna opened her eyes slowly, as if waking up from a dream, she felt a knot in her stomach, but it wasn't from insecurity, but from a contained happiness, a joy that she still didn't know how to deal with.

Nicholas in turn was silent, his eyes fixed on her, but at the same time disconcerted, as if he was still processing what had just happened. He wanted to say something, anything, but the words seemed to be stuck in his throat. He didn't want to ruin it, he didn't know what it meant, but he knew he wouldn't ignore those feelings.

The sound of a car honking behind them interrupted the moment, and the light finally lit up to green. Nicholas pulled away from Luna, feeling the warmth of her hands still on his skin. Their eyes met for a moment, both breathing heavily, as if they had just run a marathon. Nicholas started the car, at the recent moment he ended up letting it turn off, started to move again, but the silence inside the vehicle was dense, heavy.

Luna felt her heart still pounding, her mind trying to process everything that had just happened. She wanted to say something, but the words seemed to escape her, as if the simple act of speaking spoiled everything she had just experienced.

Nicholas, on the other hand, seemed tense. He glanced quickly at her, as if to assure her that she was still there, that everything was still fine, but soon looked away, focusing on the road ahead. His left hand held the steering wheel firmly, but his right was still a little elevated, as if he wanted to reach something, or someone, but he didn't know exactly what to do.

"I..." Luna finally broke the silence, her voice trembling. Nothing comes out of your lips,

Nicholas took a deep breath and looked at her again, his expression a mixture of surprise and confusion, but also relief. As if, for a moment, he had lost track of everything around him. He didn't know what to say. He was never good with words, especially when it came to feelings. But that kiss... That kiss made him wonder so many things.

"Luna..." He started but stopped, his voice lower than he expected. He seemed to be looking for something, perhaps a way to explain, or even to justify. "I don't know what to do with it."

That simple "I don't know" was like a thud for her. His stomach turned.

Heavens, he will say that this is a mistake!

But before she could answer or try to understand what he meant, Nicholas continued, now more firmly in his voice.

"It's not that I don't want to take advantage of you, neither here nor at school." He said, finally looking her in the eye, trying to find himself. "I just... I didn't expect this to happen now, Luna... I didn't know you felt the same."

Luna felt a wave of relief and anxiety mixed. She never expected everything to be so simple, or easy, or for him to say the words she wanted to hear, but at the same time, that "I don't know" was all she needed to feel safe enough to open her heart.

"I..." She hesitated, looking at him. "I've felt this for so long. And I don't know if you knew or not, but... I thought it would be better not to say anything for fear that he would see us drift away."

Nicholas brought his hand to his forehead, his chin slightly raised, as if trying to absorb her words. The next beacon would soon change to red, but he still didn't seem to be ready to stop.

" What now? " Luna asked, feeling the tension between them grow. She wanted things to be simple, but she knew that was not how life worked, especially with twelve years of friendship, it was impossible for them to just wake up tomorrow and pretend that nothing happened.

He looked at her once more, an almost imperceptible smile appearing on his lips, even with the concern on his chest he couldn't ignore the feeling of euphoria growing even more in his chest. Something in his expression seemed more tranquil, as if he was beginning to understand what was happening between them.

"Now I think we have a lot to talk about. But..." He glanced quickly at the road and then, with a smile, said, "I think the first step is to stop worrying so much, regardless of how we go on with our lives, I'm going to get on with you."

Those few seconds seemed longer than any other moment. The car headed for the next signal, but Luna already knew that nothing would be the same as before. The path ahead was uncertain, but at least now there was something else that united them.
