Mostra Bologna 25/5/23 - 07/01/24

I think I'm going to stop experimenting with treatments for a few weeks, at least until I start feeling a bit more stable and get some things done that I couldn't before. Really didn't expect vitamin C to be that much of a problem. I guess it matters what form it's in, and what's used as filler. All I was focused on was finding one that didn't have a bunch of extra stuff added to it. Which is surprisingly hard.
The luteolin I got a while ago also seems to be making things worse. I thought it might be the capsules, so I started opening them and just having the powder, since I already knew the powder tasted okay, but I got the same result.
Also, the constant, sharp pain I used to be in came back last night. Since it went away when I started using the emergency bottle of digestive enzymes I found when I was cleaning up my desk the other week, I guess it was because I'd run out of digestive enzymes? So that's another thing to make sure to have enough of.
But I'm having a sleep consultation of some kind at the end of the week, and getting my eyes checked tomorrow, so I hope those things will help at least a little. And I bet I'd be better at Final Fantasy Rebirth if I could read the tiny white text where it puts its important information without leaning forwards and squinting. I'd also be better at it with less brain fog, which I'm hoping will be the case as long as I stay away from that dastardly vitamin C.
And... Oh yeah! I found a patient questionnaire for "mast cell mediator release syndrome" (in a peer-reviewed journal article, not an SEOed wellness website), and I got almost double the "clinically confirmed" score just from the first half, which asks about symptoms. So my mast cells are definitely releasing mediators, and I'd be very surprised if it was anything other than mast cell activation syndrome at this point. I hope it becomes properly diagnosable here! And also treatable by more than, like... two people in the entire country.

I don't really ever use Tumblr for advertising. But so many of the questions that come in about writing and plotting are answered in much more depth in my Masterclass. (Yes, you have to pay. They have also been answered here on Tumblr and over on my blog for free, but you will have to find them.)
It's been one of the most popular Masterclasses since its release in 2019, and these days I get to hear from people who published books and blame me, which is nice.
So consider this a rare commercial, mostly because it may actually make life easier for some of you.

The water danced brightly in the early sunlight; away to their right nearer the river's mouth, they caught a glimpse of ship's masts.

Saving this for pirate book.
Then, too, at sea—to use a homely but expressive phrase—you miss a man so much. A dozen men are shut up together in a little bark, upon the wide, wide sea, and for months and months see no forms and hear no voices but their own, and one is taken suddenly from among them, and they miss him at every turn. It is like losing a limb. There are no new faces or new scenes to fill up the gap. There is always an empty berth in the forecastle, and one man wanting when the small night watch is mustered. There is one less to take up the wheel, and one less to lay out with you upon the yard. You miss his form, and the sound of his voice, for habit had made them almost necessary to you, and each of your senses feels the loss.
—a sailor's diary entry, on losing a shipmate, ca. 1834 (from Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana Jr.)

Got on the wrong bus and ended up at Bondi beach. Was confused as to why it’s such a tourist attraction but I get it now
