“Reyes Vidal?” The pilot looked amused. “Yeah, I think that could be arranged. You sure about this though? Kadara isn't the place for a soft little Initiative girl.”

Sage knew acceptance when she heard it,  and grinned like a cat presented with a big bowl of cream. “Oh yes,” she confirmed happily, “I'm quite, quite sure.”

He shrugged in a ‘it’s your funeral’ kind of way. "I'm leaving in two hours. If you want a ride, you need to be at berth number seven and ready to go.” He reached out a hand which Sage shook. “The name’s Corvus, and my price is five thousand credits. They need to be in my account before we leave and before I try to reach out to Vidal." The pilot opened his omnitool and sent her the details. “No promises either. Just because I reach out doesn't mean they'll be interested. If you wind up on Kadara with no place to go, it’s your problem. Not mine.”

He finished his drink and stood up. "A word to the wise; I wasn't kidding before. Kadara isn't a place for soft folk. We have all kinds of problems there - kett raids, gang violence, shortages of just about everything you can imagine, petty crime. Someone who looks like you is going to be a target the moment you arrive. I hope you know what you're getting into." 

Sage nodded. "Thanks for the warning."

if i had a nickel for every mass effect prologue with its protagonist suffocating to death, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it is weird that it happened twice...

Mass Effect Andromeda is a good game and a great expansion of ME lore when you don’t have a bunch of bitches in your ear telling you it’s bad

Scenery in Mass Effect: Andromeda 06/??

Mass Effect Andromeda is, of course, an imperfect game, but I remain absolutely enchanted with a couple things they did with the Angara still to this day:

1. They’re not a monoculture. Most often in sci-fi when we encounter aliens they’re all one culture. Not so, the Angara. One species, sure, but they’ve got different national identities for want of a better word.

2. Their history of having been space farers, losing that technological capability, losing the historical record of such capability, rediscovering it, and then voyaging out into the stars only to find that the people on other planets in their galactic cluster were also… them is such a meaty concept I want so much more of that
