hii, I hope you don't mind me asking. But how do you finish writing fanfics and drabbles so quickly😭? I want to get into writing fanfics specifically as well. But starting a fanfic that's going to be uploaded online is a bit intimidating, and I can never really finish writing projects T^T. Basically I'm asking if you have a specific routine that works for you, or just pointers and tips for starting :))? It's totally alright if you don't respond 🫶

p.s. I really like your writing, and I've discovered you through your blue lock christmas series!!

hi anon ofc i'll answer this :) sorry it took me a while because i needed to gather my thoughts on this

tldr;

don't force yourself to write long chapters

don't force yourself to post frequently/regularly

write what you want, when you want!

enjoy the process :)

my frequent posting for the past two months has just been me being on a really really long term break and really really bored LOL

you're absolutely right that putting your fics out there is daunting and scary (i still feel that way sometimes). and if you take a look at my hq masterlist you'll see that i have discontinued some projects or put them on hold indefinitely in favor of writing shorter drabbles/hcs/smau posts :(

one tip i have for if you want the motivation to write longer series is to not load up your chapters with more words than you need/want to. for my earliest three haikyuu series, i was pushing myself to write 1.2k words per chapter. but that drains your energy and motivation quick. my mashle series (which i genuinely forgot about for no reason) was a lot easier because each chapter was 800 words max

don't be too worried about posting regularly! my i might have posted frequently in the past few weeks, but i am far from having a posting schedule. (admittedly birthday oneshots are things i force myself to write, but it's more of a fun challenge than a chore.)

and lastly: in my own personal experience, i don't even have to enjoy my own work to want to post it, as long as i enjoyed the process of it :) i know this might sound a little cliche but at the end of the day, writing anything is always for your own enjoyment first, and not others'.
