Masasa Beach - Tingloy, Batangas
Tumblr media
Welcome to Masasa Beach.
Masasa Beach was a concealed gem, stashed away from the watchful eye of weekend warriors from Manila. But something this precious is hard to keep secret. As soon as word got out, tourists came in droves, rattling what used to be a dormant town.
Tumblr media
From Manila - Ride a bus (Jam Liner in Quenzon City)
It is a 3-4hrs ride until you reach the last stop which is the Batangas City Grand Terminal.
Regular rate: 236 pesos
Tumblr media
There’s a lot of jeep in the terminal going to Anilao Port.

THINGS TO DO IN MASASA BEACH
Beach bum and swim. Obviously. It’s a great beach, strewn with soft, supple sand, lapped up by gentle waves. And in sunny days, the waters are so blue, you won’t resist it. Remember that it’s a long beach. Behind the rock walls are more pockets of sand. Don’t stay on the main beach.
Snorkel. Tingloy is within the vicinity of Verde Passage which is one of the richest marine biodiversity spots in the world. Some of these wonderful creatures come closer to the shore. But remember, please respect wildlife. Don’t feed them. Don’t touch them. Don’t kill them.
Go island hopping. On the beach you’ll find a small store. Next to it is a space where boatmen stay. They take passengers on an island-hopping tour which make a stop at other spots like Oscar Beach, Tawil Point, Sepoc Point, lagoon, and Sombrero Island. They use a small boat that can accommodate up to 3 passengers. Standard rate: P1500.
Trek to Mag-asawang Bato, a rock formation that stands atop a nearby hill. Beginners can definitely do this. Takes around 2 hours to complete.
Tumblr media
You can rent a small boat for island hopping and snorkeling for only 1500 for 10pax
Tumblr media
In snorkeling you will be seeing beautiful fish, corals and yes! a big turtle.
Tumblr media
Beach doggo.
After exploring the ocean. You can sit at the bay or climb the famous rock formation to watch sunset.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
after a amazing experience there’s a lot of lomihan ni batangas you can stop by and try the authetic batangas lomi for only 50pesos
Tumblr media
Have a safe and great travel mga sis. :)

MASASA BEACH
                                        Go and explore the world
Tumblr media
Finally, the long wait is oveeer! So yeeeep, my cousin (Kuya Jay, ) Sissy (Jayzee) and I headed to Masasa Beach, Tingloy Batangas  for our 3D2N vacation. We went  there before holy week to make it is not crowded. I highly recommend you to visit Masasa during weekdays, as much as possible, because I saw bunch of people during weekends and I somehow couldn’t enjoy the beach.  Nevertheless, it is still beautiful and probably one of the best places chasing the sunset.
This was our first trip w/o guardians since my mother is strict especially when we were still in college. Luckily, my Mama agreed to let us explore the world on our own. Maybe she realized that we are now grown up ladies.
Tumblr media
Indeed, I am hesitant in doing this blog about Masasa. Not because I’m worried that readers wouldn’t like it but because I'm in the state where I couldn’t even grasp any suitable word to describe how grateful I was when we were in Tingloy. The fact that you are reading it now,  that means it took me a lot of courage to write something how full my heart  was staying in Masasa. Thus, let me walk you in this journey.
We planned to leave our houses by 5:00pm. Unfortunately, due to some delay that was caused by (eheeem) of course my sister, who is always on time (hahahha), we had to adjust our plans. In reality, we departed from house around 8:00am. We traversed  6 HOURs from Palo Alto Calamba to Tingloy Batangas.
As we reached Anilao Port, upon registration we had to pay for environmental fee (30 pesos only. ) Then when you entered this boat (picture below) you have  to pay 80 pesos which is for  transportation going to Tingloy Port.
Tumblr media
From the moment we set foot in Tingloy, my heart beats faster as if I am in a race. So from there, tricycle drivers will offer assistance going to your respective transient house. It has  fixed 120 fare. That means, no matter how many you are in a team, you guys have to pay 120 for the service. I think I took us like 20 mins to reach our transient house (De Chavez Transient House). For future reference you can contact this number 09274397323 for booking. Undeniably, they are accommodating and the place is 1800 only considering we stayed for 3days and 2 Nights.  These lolas are  so talkative and friendly. They were the ones who cooked rice for us particular every morning. Still, I wanna tske this opputunity to thank my cousin who became our chef. So Im pleasing you friends to somehow try their service. Aside from that, it is just walking distance from the beach. It will only took you like 5-10 mins walk. They also have small store so in case that you don’t wanna bring sock of rice and foods you can buy goods in their store, Though frankly speaking, they are bit pricey considering that they get supplies from Anilao.
Tumblr media
There are lot of transient houses you can stay with since there is no  nearby hotels in the island. *See pictures below*
Tumblr media
If you are not fond of Transient House you can rent a tent. I just don’t have any idea for the price but I AM PRETTY SURE THAT IT IS A LOT CHEAPER.
Tumblr media
I am not exaggerating when I say that Masasa Beach has fine and white sand. Like normal beaches, there are tons of shells at the shore. The water is crystal clear that you can still see your feet. Is swear that is real. On our first day, we  just decided to take pictures however the sea is way too inviting that we couldn’t resist but to swim. Waves were too strong that I couldn’t make pacute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Masasa, you can do Island Hopping, snorkeling, free diving and Trekking. You can rent a boat for  4 hours where you can  go to multiple islands and do snorkeling. I experienced the best snorkeling here. I am used to do snorkeling where we will just stay in one position to see corals. But in Masasa, they will hang you then they will tour  you around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though we experienced some mechanical issues during the island hopping it did not become a hindrance for  us to enjoy the nature’s beauty. Trust me when I say, the waves in Masasa are terrifying considering that we rented small boat. Truth be told, i l felt like it was pouring rain whenever we crossed the waves. I remembered saying “oh God” when I couldn’t bare how big that wave was. Sometimes, whenever I see breathtaking scenery i couldn’t help but to think how great God is. Wondering how awesome  He is to give so much details in everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We are as well planning to do trekking, unfortunately, we were unable to. It really is tiring swimming everyday and waves were too strong that our body aches.
For an avid fan of free diving , there is a lagoon where you can enjoy diving.  But of course, you don’t dive alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Things to bring in Masasa:
1. Sunblock for body and skin.
2. Powerbank- Just a reminder Tingloy is an island run by a generator. There is actually a time frame for it. Thus powerbank is a must. Of course, there is weak signal and poor internet connection for our mobile data. The good thing about it is that you can definitely enjoy the provincial life.
3. Extra Money - There is no ATM machines in  Tingloy, as far as I observed.. Better bring a pocket money
4. Your own foods since you will to stay in a transient house.
5. Waterproof cameras or waterproof case for you phones.- I bought waterproof case for 100.00 which I was able to bring my phone on our island hopping.
BUDGET GUIDE
This part will give you an idea of what could possibly be you budget guide throughout your stay in Masasa Beach, Tingloy. Prices below are based on the time that we went there.
Tumblr media
Friendly Reminder:
During weekends, Masasa Beach is experiencing high volume of travelers. One of the perks of it is, it gives locals an opportunity to increase their incomes. In ther other hand, the drawback of it is people are unaware of the bad effects that they are doing when they are leaving garbages behind.
Tumblr media
Masasa Beach is a public pool. That means, it doesn’t have any entrance fee. Therefore, it is our obligation to maintain its beauty. Im calling out the attention of every traveler to please be responsible/mindful enough to take good care of Masasa regardless if there are officials and locals who  are cleaning it every monday and friday. It doesn’t give us a privilege to just throw our trashes. Bear this in your mind, it’s us that will benefit from doing it. Aside from that it is one way of helping the locals, it is our job to protect the land that we borrowed from God and as a keeper of this place. It is now time to rectify our wrong doings.
Before leaving Batangas, don’t ever forget what Batangas is known for. SO please try their lomi.
