Welp, We Have To Move

Looks like I need to pound a “for sale” sign into the front yard.  Let me explain.  We live in Caroline County.  This county is made up of several small towns, Denton is the county seat, then there’s Ridgley, Preston, Hillsboro, Greensboro, Goldsboro, Marydel, Henderson, half of Templeville, and Federalsburg - all very small, rural towns.   Not much happens around here that’s newsworthy, but for the last 24 hours the lead story in Caroline County is that THERE’S A PYTHON ON THE LOOSE!  

Federalsburg is 16 miles from us.  How fast does a python travel, you ask? Only about one mile per hour.  I may not be a math major, but if he’s been on the lam for 24 hours that means he could easily be here by now. He’s probably in my backyard right now.  It’s a bird and cat buffet out there for a hungry python, of course he’d stop here. I’m getting goosebumps just typing this.

It made the big city news in Baltimore.

OH MY GAWD. If my local PetCo carried mongoose (mongeese?) I’d pay top dollar right now.  Wait, do they only chase away cobras?  My knowledge is limited to my childhood viewing of Rikki Tikki Tavi.  I’m willing to try it. The Eastern Shore is full of farms, water communities, marshy areas, all desirable to a python. My guess is he’ll evade capture and grow to record size. I don’t think there’s a natural predator for a python is there? Maybe baby pythons are at risk, but I’m not sure about the big ones.  We have a lot of bald eagles here, any chance an eagle could carry him off?  I’m nervous. I’ve just typed the word python more times in one blog post than I have in a year. That makes me shiver.  I’m going to sage the house. I may research how to make one’s yard inhospitable to pythons.  Eek. I may not sleep tonight. Help.

Isa sa 14 benepisyaryo ng libreng lupaing pangsakahan mula sa Busuanga, Palawan ang tumanggap ng Certificate of Landownership Award (CLOA) mula kay Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary John Castriciones. (Larawan mula sa DAR)

PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan, Peb. 8 (PIA) -- Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon ay nagkaloob ang Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) ng Certificates of Landownership Award (CLOAs) sa 44 na nagtapos ng mga kurso na may kaugnayan sa agrikultura mula sa lalawigan ng Cagayan at Palawan nito lamang Pebrero 5.

Mula sa 44 na napagkalooban ng DAR ng libreng lupain, 14 sa mga ito ang mula sa Busuanga na nagtapos ng kursong agrikultura sa Western Philippines University (WPU).

Ayon kay DAR Secretary John Castriciones, ang mga ipamamahaging lupain ay mga nakatiwangwang na government-owned lands (GOLs), na isinailalim sa Executive Order (EO) No. 75, Serye ng 2019 kung saan ang EO na ito ay nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noong Pebrero 1, 2019, upang mapabilis ang proseso ng pagsailalim ng mga GOLs na sakop sa ilalim ng Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

Ang pamamahagi ng DAR ng libreng lupain ay upang himukin ang mga kabataan na magsaka upang mapanatili ang seguridad ng pagkain sa bansa sapagkat ayon sa pag-aaral ng DAR ang mga magsasaka ngayon ay patanda na ng patanda na, at sa 11 milyong pilipinong magsasaka, ang karaniwang edad ng mga ito ay nasa 57.

Sa Palawan ang ipinamahaging lupain ay mula sa Busuanga Pasture Reserve (BPR) sa Bayan Busuanga, kung saan ang mga nakatanggap nito ay sina

Lakabay-aral ng mga benepisyaryo ng libreng lupang pang-agrikultura sa Morningside Farm sa Cavite upang mabigyan ang mga ito ng leksiyon sa organic farming. (Larawan mula sa DAR)

Gensefil Manginsay, Rommel Cagmat, Abigail Lagrada, Sunshine Araza, Florelyn Gutib, Bethel Joy Libarra, Arman Bacnan, Marydel Llanillo, Shahanie Diacasin, Dexter Edonga, Grecia Minorca, Ronalyn Olanas, Necille Onayan, and Necca Juanerio Cabajar na nagtapos ng mga kursong Bachelor of Agriculture Technology, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Bachelor of Science in Agri-Business.

Pagkatapos mapagkalooban ng lupa ang mga kabataang nagtapos ng agrikultura mula sa lalawigan ng Palawan at Cagayan, nagbigay naman ng lakbay-aral ang DAR, sa pangunguna nina Mimaropa Director Zoraida Macadindang at Cagayan Valley Director Samuel Solomero, sa Morningside Farms sa Cavite, upang mabigyan ng leksyon sa organic farming at magsilbing inspirasyon ang kaunlaran ng nasabing farm na pagmamay-ari ni Ruy Polistico.
