I do kinda love how Sakiko's big character moment this week was to go "Actually fuck this shit, I do what I want."
Ever since the disbanding she spent every episode being all passive/miserable/full of self loathing and kinda just not wanting to be the protagonist anymore, but then as she was about to be shipped off to Switzerland she just went "On a second thought, fuck y'all I'm out" and ran away from the metaphorical gallows to reclaim her agency with venegance.
The best part is that all signs point towards this spectacularly blowing up in her face in the future. Maybe not now, maybe not even during the finale, but someday that guillotine will come down on her neck - something she knows and accepts. God what an episode.

Unpopular opinion
The MMDC is not that bad.
It has it’s flaws and dramas, but overall it’s okay.
Besides, there are way, way worse fandoms out there. (*cough* Steven Universe *cough* Sailor Moon *cough cough* Ah sorry something’s got in my throat.)

To be Hero X introduced the concept of 'the trust of the people giving you super powers' and came out the gate swinging with using this idea for the most potent psychological horror I have seen in a while. I fear this show will have me in a chokehold if it keeps up this energy.

I am loosing my mind that Umiri saw Uika not only missing practice but not coming to school and not being in her house and came to the conclusion that *somehow* she did all that because she did not trust Umiri. Yeah Umiko you fucked up so spectacularly that Uika Misumi ran away and entered a witness protection program just to avoid practice. Poor thing is so traumatized she sincerely thinks Uika is just super-ghosting her.

Out of all the AveMuji girlies I was always most invested in wtf Umiri's deal was out of them cause like... I had legit no idea what direction they end up taking with her.
With the others you could make a pretty decent guess about where it goes: Like Mutsumi DID surprise was unexpected to be sure, (mostly because I didn't think they would actually put that in a Bandori season) but even with her I had a decent image of her character trajectory. (Some of which I ended up guessing correctly.) And lord knows the entire creative team likes to hype the hell out of the incoming Uika Twist so I knew going in that whatever happens with her it's gonna be A Doozy in some way.
And then. There is this fuck ass bassist right here. She's in thirty gods damned bands. Thirty. What. Even if most of them barely active or dies quickly mfer that's still a lotta work. She's calm and proffesional. She's a snarky jester who likes to annoy Taki. She's making Higurashi faces in the OP for some reason. She looks like a terrified mouse in one shot of the same OP. While everyone and their grandma was busy watching Uika Misumi with baited breath I was obsessing over this funky little idiot. Sasaki Rico told us there was a bomb under the table but I only cared about why the guy stage right to the table is Like That.
And then. AND THEN. This episode is like: Umiri Yahata is like that because she's still upset about her first band she was in (that judging by their appearance in the flashback was founded in elementary school/early middle school at best) ditched her on the day of their performance. Also she goes on retail therapy after her last girlband ex refuses to text her back and dumps her tragic backstory on her ex coworker. She also leaves the bill to said coworker btw. And know is trying to get the band together while using their former rhythm guitarist's alter for her own ends all the while being framed like a sinister supervillain, right after we spent half an episode establishing her as the ultimate failgirl. Which somehow makes her look an even bigger failgirl/complimentary /affectionate. Also she sustains herself on a diet of protein supplements and vending machine drinks.
And. I. Love. Every. Second. of this fuckery. So so much. Umiri Yahata you are the woman of all time, I hope you get worse/affectionate

Btw I love the implication that Raana can just clock people with DID. Turns out her heterochromia is The Mystic Eyes of DID Perception.

It's funny how even thought Hatsune is not the real Uika, in a way she became the real deal not just in the sense of continuing to use the name now as a part of Ave Mujica, but to the audience as well. While some switched over to calling her Hatsune, others settled for using combinations of her two identities, some still call her just Uika. Not to mention, whenever the real Uika is brought up, it's always with a qualifier of some kind, to distinguish her from the Uika We Know. Regardless how we refer to her, we still feel the need to distinguish her from the real deal but in a way that makes the real one feel like the faker. It's always the so called "real Uika", "Uika prime", "the original Uika" - distinct from the Uika We Know, Our Uika, the Uika in front of us who's actually Hatsune but that is besides the point.
Of course this is mostly for pragmatic reasons, because for 10 episodes as far as we were concerned, Hatusne was Uika, there was no "original" to fret over. And it's human nature really - to continue to refer to a fictional character with the name you are already used to using. But it's interesting to think about, because funnily enough, it makes the Uika we know more like the real deal in spirit. The faker has become the original, in a way. This begs the question, does the distinction between the original and it's copy even matter? If the fake sword can be used just as well and effectively as the real deal is it not real in it's own wa - *I am forcibly removed from the premises before I have the chance to continue and make all of this about Critically Acclaimed Visual Novel Fate/Stay Night again*

How much of Lin Ling's emerging clean freakness he alluded to are the result of the influence of the masses starting to change his personality vs. how much of this is a symptom of subconsious axiety over playing Nice the Perfect Hero to a T in this essay-

Amidst the impending sense of doom, can we appreciate what a nice girl Mana is, bailing out her unit mate and also clearly frustrated with the way everyone keeps gossiping about the avemuji breakup. Because she can clearly tell it's upsetting Uika... Sumida Mana you are such a sweetheart I hope nothing bad happens to u

Haruka birth year reveal is objectively funny as hell thought, because you can both take it to mean that he legit does not know how old he actually is OR that him and all the prisoners are from different points of time. And the best part is based on what we know about everything so far, both of these interpretations are equally plausible.

No but like. When I said my "uika twin switch identity fraud" theory was a joke I never seriously entertained I meant it. It wasn't even a theory I seriously entertained it was literally just an idle thought I had while brushing my teeth one morning a few months before AniMuji premier that just went "What if 'Uika' is actually her sister who stole her identity to be with Sakiko. What if Junkos 2 the Two Towers. Wouldn't that be fucked up or what." and I never thought about it again for months.
And then the anime starts hitting me with flat out foreshadowing to "there is two of them" theory and I'm like "are they actually gonna do it holy fuck?? nonono they wouldn't would they" and guess fucking what past Mary THEY FUCKING DID IT THE MAD LADS AND MAD LASSES AT BUSHIROAD AND SANZIGEN DID IT HOLY FUCK
I did not think I would ever experience whatever the Something Awful Danganronpa let's play guys experienced in real time but here we go I guess
(yes I know they are not really twins but like who tf cares what matters is that I was mostly right somehow???)

Not people still insisting Uika isn't real and the sibling switch didn't happen in spite of the taxi driver straight up referring to Hatsune as the older sister unpromted
I get it, y'all did not like the ep 11 reveals but let's not deny reality, Christ on a bike

The recent Milgram developments are making me think about that one reddit thread asking older comic book fans who voted for the death of Jason Todd why they did it. In paticular the guy that was like "I did it as a joke because I did not think they would actually do it" and felt geniunely bad when DC did, in fact do it. For no reason in paticular.

Gelphie is the sapphic Phoenix/Edgeworth to me in the "I knew they had to be at least a little bit gay even before I've seen anything of the source material by the sheer volume of shippy art out there but Good Lord did I underestimate just how gay these doofuses are for eachother like Great Googly Moogly they are GAY (Good for them)" sense.

I love how after several episodes in two whole seasons of anime being The Well Put Together ProffesionalTM Umiri was outed as an absolute failgirl. Love that for her, like, unironically. Best character, 10/10, no notes. I love my pathetic child.
