Looking for a snuggler? Mary Helen’s here for you!
This beauty is with a Metro Nashville Animal Care & Control foster family in Nashville, Tennessee, and here’s what they shared with us:
“Mary Helen (Mellie) was purring and affectionate as soon as we got into the car with her at MACC. As soon as we got home, she cuddled in my lap and fell asleep. She came to us with a leg injury and was confined to room to heal, but she since has recovered almost completely and loves exploring our apartment.
“I’ve had cats before but I think that Mellie is really something special-she’s the most loving and affectionate cat I’ve ever met. She loves cuddling with us at night and sitting on our laps while we work from home.”
Mary Helen is approximately 8 years old, and spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting her, please email [email protected]!

✝️May Devotion Article🙏🏻 📆Day 19, Tuesday 19-05-2020 🕯️TITLE: Why is Mary Called "Ark of the *<New>* Covenant" CLICK ON THE LINK ON MY BIO FOR COMPLETE ARTICLE (📸 Instagram) After the Babylonians crushed Jerusalem and destroyed Solomon's Temple in 587 B.C., the Ark of the Covenant, the holy container that held the Ten Commandments, was never seen again. In 2 Macabbees, it says that the place of the Ark will "remain unknown until God gathers his people together again and shows them mercy" (2 Macc 2:7). We live in the time of great mercy — a time when, through St. Faustina, God reminds us of His boundless love for wretched sinners. Is it possible that the Ark will be revealed to us soon? We can't be sure. But by studying Scripture, we can learn about the new Ark of the Covenant, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and how God gave her a most essential role in our salvation. #jcharismaonlinestore #arkofthecovenant #jesusforever #maryfullofgrace #catholiconline #catholicism #catholicconnect #catholiccompany https://www.instagram.com/p/CAYhfncDetv/?igshid=1pjx9yecxfk92

{ THE TERROR IN DIAGON }
Lord Voldemort doesn’t stop for nothing, not even for the one who’s making themselves call CORD. He gave the Death Eaters a very specific mission, and on this day, September 25th, such task has to be fulfilled.
First, the trap was set. A little box containing a curse, and an irrelevant magic object inside - that was the bait. A curse breaker, specifically selected. Dedalus Diggle had enough contacts among the Aurors to let everyone know about the lonely Death Eater that broke into his office and threatened him. He was supposed to open the box and leave it at a certain place behind the Leaky Cauldron. A murdered sister, to make it look more real; such is the way terrorism works. The distraction was set.
Second, the real mission. To infiltrate inside the Ministry and erase all records of new muggle borns born that year, so they would never know about the Wizarding World.
Three groups. One inside the place, two outside. Divide and conquer, that is the philosophy the Death Eaters are sticking to today. This is only a battle, not the war. Who will win? Who will lose? Who will survive? Who will die?
(find what happened to your character under the cut. events are for the most part interconnected, so it’s recommendable to read all the text until the end even if your character isn’t tagged.)
@yaxleyx you’re in charge of the second group, the one’s who’re supposed to intercept the Aurors that show up at the back of the Leaky Cauldron and guide them slowly to the front of the Ministry. The trap goes as planned, you manage to rule the battle for a while until you reach the Ministry and some more people start showing up. You assume they’re part of the Order of the Phoenix. Your group takes @flowerswakefield as a hostage. @ohitslucius, @evnroxier and @rcokwood you surround her and torture her multiple times. @thundrstorms and @countingbodieslikesheeps hold the front with Andrew, challenging whoever wants to rescue her.
@diggleded, @coffeedisorder, @amesbones, @eddieboners, @vforoctavia are caught in battle with this group of Death Eaters. At first it feels like you’re losing, then you gain ground, and that’s when they decide to take Florence as a hostage. You immediately charge to rescue her. One of the masked people is especially fixated on you, Lily Evans. You don’t know it, but it’s Andrew Yaxley. He overpowers you eventually, shooting an unknown curse at you. You fall down, convulsing on the floor. Thorfinn Rowle, you take care of Dedalus Diggle in a particularly violent way. Gashes, burns - you lose yourself for a little bit there. Dedalus you fall, only to recover consciousness seconds later, feeling the blood running down your torso. Edgar, Amelia and Octavia manage to get to Florence and retrieve her unconscious body. Not without consequence. Lucius fires a curse towards you, Amelia. Octavia you see how your trainer embraces his little sister, taking the hit for her. He can barely stand before the Death Eaters vanish and make their retreat; but not before you get to strike one of them.
Lucius Malfoy, you get hit by Octavia’s cruse. Bleeding and weak, you crawl to @narcissab. Narcissa you don’t know who’s able to sneak into your room like that at this hour, with the many layers of security Black Manor has up. You find your future husband, bleeding on the floor, asking for help he never thought he would.
@abouttonks you see this whole thing happening and rush to help, selfless as you are. Nothing could have prepared you for how vicious these people are, though. You get caught in the crossfire, hurt your leg pretty bad. @pandcrica and @lovexgood are hiding when they see this happen. Risking your own security you both go out an aid the man lying on the floor, rushing to St. Mungo’s.
@fenriirgreyback your task in charge of another group of Death Eaters is to cause general chaos and destruction going down Diagon Alley. You choose for your team, of course, the havoc makers. @cxrrxw-girl, @smallerstrange, @xcarrow, @sophiadarling, @verdantmeadow all go with you. You scatter, so you don’t find much of an opposition. Both Carrows witness as Sophia and Sabrina sneak towards Knockturn Alley, even though that place was supposed to be off limits according to your superiors’ orders. Sophia Wilkes and Sabrina Greengrass, you find your objective soon enough. The explosion at Borgin & Burke’s entrance and display will be reported later as part of the attack, or so you seem to think.
@pxdfxot, @fairbornstar, @hextiajones, @peterpettigrxw, @icecream-headaches you try to chase down the scattered Death Eaters down the alley but soon enough you find yourselves at a loss. You retreat to the Ministry to help the others, only to find that the group has left. Lily Evans is still shaking violently on the floor, hit by an unknown curse. Sirius you pick her up, tears running down your face, and take her to St. Mungo’s immediately
@bonfireofthevcnities, @lorcantonedeath, @katrinawyns, @cxnstncerosier you find yourself in the middle of the alley when the chaos starts. Katrina steps up, managing to break into the shop were Emma works, and hiding everyone under the counter. No one gets severely hurt, except for a few scratches. Katrina Selwyn, being a hero leaves an acid taste in your mouth. Lorcan you choose to hide, but something insides you craves for the terror outside.
@firewxrkprewett and @frxckledprewett both of you are caught in a strange situation. Your father has come to St. Mungo’s to visit Fabian when the Patronus charm calling you both arrives. You tell him to stay, he follows after you anyway. Even if you don’t know it, Rabastan Lestrange hides behind the mask that fires the killing curse at him. His body falls like a puppet in between you two. You are petrified.
The third and final group in charge of infiltrating is formed by @magnuslupus, @asderanged, @pennshingleton and @dvlohovs. They lock the record and documents’ office down, taking six employees as hostages. “Have fun with them, but don’t kill them, we’re taking them alive.”, Rodolphus Lestrage says. Bellatrix and Antonin you both look at each other silently planning on ignoring the command. Penelope you’re frightened. This is the most important task of all, and you need to make a good impression. The destruction begins, but things go out of hand. One of the employee rebels, and you - the eldest Lestrange - snap and lose control. Penelope you hear Rodolphus approaching you. “Torture him”, he says. “Focus your anger, he’s going to ruin this if he keeps talking, show him who is the boss here. Make him suffer.” And you do, oh how you do it. And this is a sign for everyone else. Play time for you Antonin, who have been itching for this and for you Bellatrix, who look at your husband with satisfaction as you both start ending the lives of these soon to be corpses, one by one.
By the time @mister-moody, @jamesprongster, @imbeingfrank, @queenoficing arrive there, the hostages are completely blasted and you all force the Death Eaters to escape. Part of the Muggle Born records can be saved, but most of them burn in the ground. You return to the rest of your people, counting your loses and your winnings.
@andromedablackism, @theflowxrqueen, @mary-macc you are in St. Mungo’s and are left with the consequences of the attack. Andromeda you see two people helping Ted in, and your cousin comes to you as well, carrying Lily Evans along with Marlene McKinnon, Emmeline Vance and Peter Pettigrew. Daisy you see Edgar Bones, barely standing, brought by Octavia and Amelia. Mary you see the Prewett twins, devastated, carrying the body of their father. You three see tons and tons of wounded people caught in the middle of the attack, some of them without possibility of salvation. And you wonder, is this all worth it?

Why Jesus’ Resurrection Is Not Borrowed from Pagan Myths
Skeptics will argue that Jesus’ resurrection is just one more instance of the dying-and-rising-god motif prevalent in the religions of the ancient Near East. The Scottish social anthropologist James Frazer popularized this motif in his 1890 book The Golden Bough: A Study in Comparative Religion. The idea continued in modern skeptic circles, as the popular film Zeitgeist has shown.
Skeptics like to parallel Jesus’ resurrection with pagan deities such as the Egyptian gods Osiris and Horus, as well as the Greek gods Attis and Adonis. But are these parallels accurate? Do these claims undermine the Christian story of Jesus’ resurrection, making our Christian faith in vain? Here are four responses that show why these claims don’t prove our belief in the resurrection to be in vain.
Response 1: The objection disregards the evidence that supports the historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ resurrection
Multiple eyewitnesses and close associates of eyewitnesses report Jesus’ resurrection (e.g., Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, Peter, the women, Clement of Rome, and Polycarp). Paul’s creedal formula—“Christ died . . . was buried . . . and rose on the third day” (1 Cor. 15:3-5)—dates to within six years of Jesus’ death and resurrection, thus satisfying the early testimony criterion. Paul maintains that this saying was a part of the apostolic preaching (1 Cor. 15:11), and therefore it is probable that he received it in A.D. 36 when he visited Peter and James in Jerusalem three years after his conversion in A.D. 33 (Gal. 1:18-19). If he received it at that time, then that means the saying must have been formulated prior to that, thus dating it to within five years after Jesus’ death (A.D. 30).
The historicity of Jesus’ resurrection also stands out when one considers how the alternative naturalistic explanations (e.g. Conspiracy Theory, Hallucination Theory, Legend Theory, etc.) fail in accounting for the historical details that make up the resurrection narratives. For the pagan dying-and-rising-god motif to be a plausible explanation, a skeptic would have to undermine the historicity of the details in the resurrection narratives—a project that will not succeed in the face of all the evidence to the contrary.
Response 2: Pagans generally didn’t believe in resurrection
In her essay “Does the Story of Jesus Mimic Pagan Mystery Stories,” Christian apologist Mary Jo Sharp writes, “In the ancient pagan world, death was a one-way street” (Come Let us Reason). St. Athanasius (A.D. 296-373) points this out in his work On the Incarnation:
For although the Greeks have told all manner of false tales, yet they were not able to feign a resurrection of their idols— for it never crossed their mind, whether it be at all possible for the body again to exist after death.
This is confirmed in Acts 17 when the Athenians mock Paul for his preaching about Christ’s resurrection (32). Greek literature even contains passages mocking the idea of bringing someone back from the dead. In the Iliad, after Achilles kills Priam’s son Hector, Achilles taunts the grief-stricken father, saying Priam won’t be able to bring his son back.
How could the early Christians have copied from Greek mythology when the Christian idea of a bodily resurrection was foreign to the Greek worldview?
A skeptic may answer, “Perhaps resurrection was foreign to the Greeks, but not to the Egyptians. Both Osiris and Horus died and rose again. Maybe the Christians copied from Egyptian mythology.” This leads us to our third response.
Response 3: Parallels between the story of the rising Jesus and the stories of rising pagan deities are false
Take as an example the most common alleged parallel, namely, that of the Egyptian god Osiris. Scholars are quick to point out that in Egyptian mythology Osiris never really rose from the dead: he reigned as king of the underworld. As the Egyptologist Henri Frankfort explains in his book Kingship and the Gods, “Osiris…was not a dying god at all but a dead god. He never returned among the living.”
This is why the Book of the Dead has a prayer the Egyptian believer prayed to Osiris requesting a permanent place in the afterlife: “Grant thou [Osiris] to me a place in the nether-world, near the lords of right and truth, my estate may it be permanent in Sekhet-hetep.”
How can there be a parallel between Jesus and Osiris’s experience of life after death if Osiris never came back to this life?
The Egyptian god Horus is said to have been stung by a scorpion and then revived by his mother Isis she performed magical spells given to her by the god Thoth. But it is disputed as to whether the mythology says Horus actually died.
If he didn’t die and only became ill, then obviously there is no parallel with Jesus. But if he did die, then the death and raising of Horus would still be very different in every other detail from the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Since the suggested parallels are so weak, there is no reason to think the early Christians borrowed the Egyptian dying-and-rising deities to construct their story about Jesus.
The same applies to parallels proposed outside of Egyptian mythology. For example, after dying, the spirit of the Phrygian vegetation god Attis entered a pine tree. That’s hardly a resurrection.
Response 4: Christians had no need to borrow the concept of resurrection from paganism since they already had it in Judaism
Unlike the pagans, the Jews of the first-century believed in a resurrection. Martha reassures Jesus of her belief that her brother Lazarus will “rise again in the resurrection at the last day” (John 11:24). This is no surprise given that the Jewish prophets foretold it (Isa. 26:19; Dan. 12:2), and her Jewish ancestors believed it (2 Macc. 7:23).
If the Jews believed in the concept of resurrection—the Sadducees being an exception (Acts 23:8)—then why would the Christians need to go outside their Jewish culture to borrow the concept of resurrection when such a concept was already a part of it? The appeal to an outside source would be unnecessary.
The question is not “where did the early Christians get the idea of a rising deity?” but given their Jewish culture the question is “where did they get the idea of an individual rising before the general resurrection at the end of time?” We should also ask why the early Christians believed in a resurrected Messiah. As N.T. Wright explains in his book The Resurrection of the Son of God, that these beliefs were not part of Jewish theology in the first-century. The only adequate explanation of these facts is Jesus’ resurrection.
Christianity is not a copycat religion. The “dying-and-rising-god” objection doesn’t discredit the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ resurrection. Although, by itself, this doesn’t show Jesus was raised, it does show that Christianity’s central claim is not taken from pagan myth.

You keep her just as headstrong as Rowling says she is, but you give your this little softness that makes her so intriguing to rp against.
AH THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY. lily was the first character i ever roleplayed and she has changed and grown SO MUCH. so you have noooo idea how much this means to me. THANK YOU

anti-establishment
conversation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_QBuwFvQ0E
Christ is not about a consumer item, the Holy Spirit isn’t something manufactured solely by a corporation. For people who experience the joy of the Holy Spirit. Its different from “self-help” books.
You can mock culture and the popular solutions to the human condition. Punk sees manufactured things that bring contentment. So punk looks at society and says “What a joke” and this message similarly does the same.
A common theme is anti-establishment when looking at the two subjects. A book called “Subversive Jesus” by Crag Greenfield (2016).
[source of the following: https://www.craiggreenfield.com/blog/2016/gleaning]
“The word subversive comes from Latin. “Sub” means from below and “vertere” means to turn. So, to subvert means to turn things upside-down, especially the established system or the status quo, from below.
It seems to me that Jesus was all about turning things upside down. He overturned cultural norms, challenged the authorities, undermined the establishment, and generally shook everything up. He was a trouble-maker, a dissident and a thorn in the side of the establishment.
...His stated mission was to bring an upside-down Kingdom that would be good news for the poor and oppressed (Lk 4:18). This Kingdom was not just a place to chill out in heaven, after we die - but something that would come on earth as well (Mt 6:10).”
1. Jesus, before his birth— Mary was inspired by God to announce the coming of Jesus with words so revolutionary they have historically been banned in multiple countries (India, Guatemala, Argentina and El Salvador to name a few):
“He has brought down rulers from their thrones and raised up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with nothing.” (Lk 1:52-53)
2. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (Lk 2:10-11)
Born in the middle of an oppressive Roman Empire, the words used to announce his birth were considered provocative, to say the least (Lk 2:10-11). By adopting language usually used to announce a new Emperor, the angels claimed that Jesus, not Caesar, was the true king, responsible for bringing peace and justice to the earth. Today, those same subversive angels might say to Americans, “Pledge allegiance to Jesus and nothing else.” And every American would recognize the political implications of that statement.
3. One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. (Mk 2:23)
The very first public act of Jesus and the disciples was to break the law of the land. (Mk 2:23). Jesus’ followers went on to break multiple laws, and spend crazy amounts of time in prison. In the end, most of the 12 disciples were executed as criminals, just like their leader. How does that sit with our emphasis today on Christians being law-abiding citizens no matter what unjust laws our governments pass?
4. Jesus went out of his way to challenge cultural attitudes and hang out with outcasts. He ate with “sinners” and the socially marginalised (Mk 2:15) as well as the ritually unclean and those considered economic traitors (Lk 5:29-32). Like attending a luncheon with a Muslim refugee, a crack addict and Edward Snowden.
5. Jesus disobeyed the Jewish purity restrictions by having contact with lepers (1:41) and the disabled (2:3). He upturned the Old Testament code by teaching a new way of understanding God in the Sermon on the Mount, “You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you…” (Mt 5:38). Even today, speaking out against "an eye for an eye" is considered unpatriotic, foolish and subversive.
Mt 5 is MINT** SIR MOUNT? MONT SIR? Sir Mont? WHATEVER
6. Jesus challenged the authorities who had been given legal rule by the Romans. By the end of his life, every identifiable ruling faction in Jewish society opposed him: the Scribes (Mk 2:6-7), the Teachers of the Law (Mk 12:38), the Priests (Mk 14:55) and the Pharisees (2:16).
[at this point; the question comes to is this about activism more than punk ideology? Not so much, because activism is a part of punk ideology. Which is described here: https://www.tpr.org/post/source-how-activism-outreach-built-politics-punk] *check this out later*
7. When asked what it meant to repent, John challenged folks to give half their possessions to the poor (Lk 3:10-11). When Jesus had a little chat with one of the economic elite, the man announced that he would be redistributing a bunch of his cash to the poor. Jesus then declared, “Salvation has come to this house!” (Lk 19:9).
8. Jesus was pretty steamed up about the way the Temple was being used to rip people off and exclude various marginalized groups from worship. He marched in, toppled their tables and drove them all out, animals included. Since the Temple was the center of economic power in Jewish society, Jesus’ actions were like a direct attack on the Jewish Wall Street – a subversive challenge to the powerful status quo.
9. The crowds waving palm branches to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem were re-enacting a scene from the Maccabean revolt when Simon marched into the Citadel at Jerusalem and threw off the foreign oppressors (I Macc 13:49-51, II Macc 10:1-8). But Jesus deliberately chose to ride in on a donkey instead of a war horse, demonstrating a dramatically different way to address injustice without resorting to violence.
[here, a parallel can be made with hippies who choose to ride in vans or little cars full of colour to not fully associate with people being selfish and unkind to the world through auto-mechanics. So hippies could be another route to take in exploring an ideology in relation to Christianity. Hippies are centred around peace, love and freedom as Jesus would preach. Their approach was quite different though, due to a more passive way in some rights. They were known for protests and sit ins but the tone is slightly different. This is much like how Jesus has been portrayed and it has laid grounds to the persecution and passivity many Christians have held their standard to; rather than an unapologetic response given through a punk persona]
10. Ultimately, Jesus was executed as a rebel by the establishment, who found him too great a threat. The God of the entire universe chose to be killed as a criminal on a cross, hanging between two felons. It was the ultimate act of subversive love and vulnerability. And that one beautiful act changed literally everything...

“Being deeply invested in an establishment has never been required for a Godly path.
Discontent with the establishment is even a time-honored and Biblically-based "tradition"!
The Biblical exemplars of faith were consistently ones that were first personally transformed in their encounters with God, and then they had transformative influence on their circumstances. For example, Chapter 11 of the Biblical Letter to the Hebrews is aptly described as the "Hall of Faith" — but the title "Hall of Anti-Establishment" would fit just as well! That is Hebrews 11, tells us how all the heroes of faith are also model advocates against the establishments of their times:
In the most ancient times, Abel chose to follow God's guidance, not just conform to his elder brother Cain's "established" example.
Enoch pleased God, not bowing to social pressure of his time.
Noah obeyed God as a faithful social nonconformist — and saved his family and humanity with it.
Moses chose identity with powerless slaves over the pleasures of sin.
Rahab sided with the people of promise rather than with her own uniquely powerful city of Jericho.
Similarly, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets all transformed their circumstances and shook the establishments through their trust in the Living God's presence and guidance.
Consummately, Jesus by fulfilling his calling disrupted and confounded the corrupt political and religious establishments of his time and place.
What a splendid group of Godly non-conformists! These Biblical examplars help show that "faith" and "trust" are not just nouns; they work primarily as powerful verbs, too.”

October 14, 2019 St. Callistus I Dear Family of Mary! "...Abandon yourselves completely to His will and do not be afraid. Everything that is best for you, everything that leads you to eternal life, will be given to you. You will comprehend that the purpose of life is not always to want and take, but to love and give. You will have true peace and true love. You will be apostles of love...." (October 2, 2019) In our modern age, it is very hard to understand that everything about our existence is gift. We have been told over and over again that the world of matter just "is". The word "creation" seems to have been erased from the dictionary, at least in terms of God the Creator. But we believe that God created the universe, and everything in it. We believe He is intimately involved in everything the exists, and that He is working in creation to bring us to Himself. That is why we should not be afraid. We are NOT ALONE in this world. The Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks directly to God as Creator in this section: IV. THE MYSTERY OF CREATION God creates by wisdom and love 295 We believe that God created the world according to his wisdom.141 It is not the product of any necessity whatever, nor of blind fate or chance. We believe that it proceeds from God's free will; he wanted to make his creatures share in his being, wisdom and goodness: "For you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."142 Therefore the Psalmist exclaims: "O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all"; and "The LORD is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made."143 God creates "out of nothing" 296 We believe that God needs no pre-existent thing or any help in order to create, nor is creation any sort of necessary emanation from the divine substance.144 God creates freely "out of nothing":145 If God had drawn the world from pre-existent matter, what would be so extraordinary in that? A human artisan makes from a given material whatever he wants, while God shows his power by starting from nothing to make all he wants.146 297 Scripture bears witness to faith in creation "out of nothing" as a truth full of promise and hope. Thus the mother of seven sons encourages them for martyrdom:I do not know how you came into being in my womb. It was not I who gave you life and breath, nor I who set in order the elements within each of you. Therefore the Creator of the world, who shaped the beginning of man and devised the origin of all things, will in his mercy give life and breath back to you again, since you now forget yourselves for the sake of his laws. . . Look at the heaven and the earth and see everything that is in them, and recognize that God did not make them out of things that existed. Thus also mankind comes into being.147 298 Since God could create everything out of nothing, he can also, through the Holy Spirit, give spiritual life to sinners by creating a pure heart in them,148 and bodily life to the dead through the Resurrection. God "gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist."149 and since God was able to make light shine in darkness by his Word, he can also give the light of faith to those who do not yet know him.150God creates an ordered and good world 299 Because God creates through wisdom, his creation is ordered: "You have arranged all things by measure and number and weight."151 The universe, created in and by the eternal Word, the "image of the invisible God", is destined for and addressed to man, himself created in the "image of God" and called to a personal relationship with God.152 Our human understanding, which shares in the light of the divine intellect, can understand what God tells us by means of his creation, though not without great effort and only in a spirit of humility and respect before the Creator and his work.153 Because creation comes forth from God's goodness, it shares in that goodness - "and God saw that it was good. . . very good"154- for God willed creation as a gift addressed to man, an inheritance destined for and entrusted to him. On many occasions the Church has had to defend the goodness of creation, including that of the physical world.155 God transcends creation and is present to it 300 God is infinitely greater than all his works: "You have set your glory above the heavens."156 Indeed, God's "greatness is unsearchable".157 But because he is the free and sovereign Creator, the first cause of all that exists, God is present to his creatures' inmost being: "In him we live and move and have our being."158 In the words of St. Augustine, God is "higher than my highest and more inward than my innermost self".159God upholds and sustains creation 301 With creation, God does not abandon his creatures to themselves. He not only gives them being and existence, but also, and at every moment, upholds and sustains them in being, enables them to act and brings them to their final end. Recognizing this utter dependence with respect to the Creator is a source of wisdom and freedom, of joy and confidence:For you love all things that exist, and detest none of the things that you have made; for you would not have made anything if you had hated it. How would anything have endured, if you had not willed it? Or how would anything not called forth by you have been preserved? You spare all things, for they are yours, O Lord, you who love the living.160 141 Cf. Wis 9:9. 142 ⇒ Rev 4:11. 143 ⇒ Pss 104:24; ⇒ 145:9. 144 Cf.
