How's this for Black History Month? :D I've recently fallen in love with the X-Men series (yes, I know, I'm very late to that party) and acquired the X-Men Barbies released in 2019 in honor of Marvel's 80th anniversary. This year mark's Marvel's 85th anniversary - I'd be totally okay with Mattel making more of these ladies (and/or some of the guys)!

In honor of Black History Month, I'm dedicating this post to Storm. She's worthy of recognition for several reasons. First off, she first debuted in the X-Men comics 50 years ago (in 1975), so it's a milestone year for her. But more than that, Storm literally made history, as she was one of the first major black superheroes and the first black female super heroine (after Misty Knight, who was created by Marvel two months earlier).

Born Ororo Munroe to a tribal princess of Kenya and an African-American photojournalist father, Storm was a trailblazer in the comic book world and is one of the strongest mutants there is. She is able to manipulate the forces and elements that pattern the weather. She's also able to fly by manipulating the wind.

Storm is the first Black leader of a Marvel superhero team, as well as the first female leader of a Marvel superhero team. Storm is one of Marvel's most notable and powerful female heroes. She is also one of the first super heroines that did not have the word "girl" or "woman" in her code name. Before her there was Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Marvel Girl, etc., and in 1975, a female super heroine that did not have the typical gender-defining words included in her code name was a rarity.

In 1992, X-Men got its own animated series, and while it ended in 1997, it was revived in 2023 by Disney+ with most of the original voice actors returning. This iteration was directed more toward adults who grew up with the original cartoon. Storm is depicted wearing this outfit (or one very similar to it) as opposed to the white outfit that dominated the original cartoon. Of course, X-Men 97 ended on a heck of a cliffhanger, and I have to wait until 2026 to see the next season. The torture!!!

Other X-Men series and movies have been made over the years, and Storm has been a prominent figure in all of them. She's definitely one of the most popular super heroes ever.

BEST AND MOST IMPACTFUL EPISODES OF MARVEL TELEVISION TO DATE - FROM LOKI, X-MEN 97' AND AGATHA ALL ALONG

Does it surprise you one the best episodes from any Marvel show on Disney+, came from Loki? Everyone did expect this to be good and it over delivered with a performance of a lifetime from Tom Hiddleston. The man was born to portray Loki and he will always be Loki no matter who they cast in future iterations.

X-Men 97', an animated continuation of a beloved 90's animated series no one thought would succeed. The way the writers, voice actors, animators were all able to convey such deep human emotion through animation was astounding and refreshing.

Agatha All Along, no series hooked me quit so quick, so hard, so deeply. There was something about the way this episode flowed and weaved but seamless to the end with a perfect song to match...perfect 10 for me.
