hiiii (my dnd blog is @deepdragons ) i just found your blog, I’m dming icewind dale too but I’m also playing in a CoS campaign rn and i want to follow u bc yooo best campaigns!! but would just like to know if you have a tag for CoS spoilers so i can avoid 😭😭 thanks!
Hello!
Thank you for the ask! Unfortunately I do reblog a lot of CoS stuff especially spoilers! So if you want to spoil as little as possible, I'd say that this blog is not for you sadly.
BUT! Since there isn't much content on Icewind Dale on Tumblr, the majority of the stuff, that I reblog, comes from the blog post of my player @sirwarlock !!!
Their character Lavr, is a warlock of Strahd, that travels to Barovia by using the planeshift spell to visit him sometimes.
The next section contains spoilers for Icewind Dale and a light Tser Pool first encounter spoiler.
Since my player as well wants to play CoS at some point, I am trying to make the spoilers as mild as possible. Mostly showing things that are either revealed early in the game or hidden in the module. Or come from the Adventures League. (You may always ask your DM, if they are going to add stuff from there to the module.) The only major thing that I have shown them so far are the denizens of the castle Ravenloft.
However! Recently they did an Id Ascendant quest and in a session or two, will trigger the Chardalyn dragon event. In order to make this event as stressful as possible, in Barovia I will run an event, that is briefly mentioned by the Vistani at the Tser Pool. How one year proior to the module, Strahd had to deal with rebellious citizens who were led by an outsider wizard. A lot of DM's homebrew this section and change the way things happened. So it could be a very mid or light spoiler for CoS.
Also there's no guarantee that my player will draw this.
In any case! I plan on DMing Icewind Dale more, and CoS is one of these modules that you should go as much spoiler free as possible, so you can follow my account once you're done with The Curse of Strahd! I hope that you'll enjoy this wonderful module and thank you for taking an interest in my blog!!!

For the mutuals who are curious on why do I mostly post and reblog CoS stuff.
Atm I'm running: Icewind Dale: rime of the frostmaiden - 2 groups Out of the Abyss - 2 groups
My original CoS group is one of the OotA parties and for one group (ID:RotF) afterwards will play CoS.
Some of my players from both campaigns are following me here, thus I can't post spoilery content (for now) + there is much less content on these two campaigns to post and reblog.
If any of you are interested in these groups - let me know and I shall share some info on them

My ID:RotF players canceled our oneshot, which was supposed to replace the canceled main session. I'm genuinely glad that people are having an upbeat life, but it's a shame that these guys are not friends enough with me to push our game to the bottom of their priority list.
The saddest part is that among this group, there is a player who got along very well with me and is looking forward to our game. But because most can't make it, they've been forced to wait for our main session for a MONTH now.
If I had known that our hiatus was going to last this long, I wouldn't have given them a solo arc with their patron.

Next session I will wrap up our campaign.
TBH I don't think that anyone is going to read this, but I'll leave it here anyways.
I have played dnd 3.5 before, but I was a kid, that just begun learning English properly. So back in 2011, when I played dnd with my friends, I was only a player, and I barely understood the mechanics. I played like this for one year. Later, in 2016 I tried to DM dnd games in high school in a different country with different people. I barely understood how to run a game and we played only once. Afterwards I was just too scared to try to understand dnd once again. And so, in 2021, decided to give it another shot. I ran a one-shot, got intimidated by the improv and was about to drop D&D once more. Until my bf recommended to me to run The Curse of Strahd. He has seen Puffin Forest's videos on it (which you should definitely check out, if you have played the campaign) and said that I will like it. He was wrong: I loved it. I found people on the internet through one live streamer. At that time, I met absolutely random people, and I had no clue what I was getting myself into. On the 30th of October, I ran my first ever Dungeons and Dragons session. Not gonna lie, looking back - it was quite terrible, I was nervous, and I had no clue about Roll20 (so I used PowerPoint and shared my screen), but everyone enjoyed it, so that was a start. Later the group grew (from 5 to 6, later to 7), I got to know my players and overall started to get the hang of it! Now this bitter-sweet feeling, of realization, that this adventure is finally coming to an end. The campaign was hard, ngl, there were mostly good stuff, but also toxic players and misunderstandings. I will never forget how this adventure begun and I want it to end on a very powerful note. Started in a death house, finishing on lvl 15 fighting a god! I want to do my best, to not let them down. I will send them irl letters with Von Zarovich stamp, thanking for the adventure in these cursed lands and for accomplishing a lot of things. Will I run this campaign once again? HELL YEAH! Will I run different campaigns? Yep! After they're done, I will give them a choice: to bring their characters to lvl 20 in the Domains of Dread or to start a brand-new adventure in the far north of Faerun or on a deadly island in the Trackless Sea. I will continue posting here their art and might keep track of the new campaign. Overall, thanks to my beautiful players and to the amazing CoS community on YouTube, Reddit and Discord.
