megamind (2010) (i know people here love it and rightly so but it is so far from overrated i’m counting it as underrated)

43. Favorite teen movie? i’m not usually super into teen movies but i did love the half of it and to all the boys i’ve loved before!

I saw a Reddit post saying that one of the flowers left on Joel’s grave was a blue hydrangea, which represents forgiveness, regret, and apology, among other things. This made me want to look around the farmhouse and see what flowers they had and try and find the meaning of them.

Disclaimer before you read all of this. I don’t know much about flowers, this is all just for fun. So some of this might be totally wrong lmao. So sorry ahead of time.

1. These are either violets or spiderwort.

The petals don’t look exactly like either to me, but it’s closer in shape to some kinds of violets, but since I don’t actually know, I’ll look at the meanings of both.

For violets some meanings I found were modesty, virtue, affection, honesty, and love

Violets also have a Sapphic connection. Because of that, I kiiiind of lean toward them being violets.

I couldn’t find a lot of info on spiderwort, but some meanings I did find are momentary happiness, or “esteem, but not love”. Which... ouch.

2. I’m pretty certain that this is Yarrow.

Yarrow has a meaning of health and healing, courage (especially courage shown in war), and everlasting love.

Apparently it became a symbol of lasting love due to how long it takes to grow it. 

I also noticed that this flower is in almost every room of the house.

3. I think these are dandelions.

Some meanings I found for dandelions are wishes for a brighter future, second chances, healing from both emotional and physical pain, and survival.

I found it interesting that the flowers by JJ’s little prints are bloomed, while the two buds next to the photo haven’t quite bloomed yet. Considering the meanings of dandelions, and the emotional state that Ellie and Dina are in at the end of the game (as well as Jesse just being dead 😢), and the ending, I think this is some really nice symbolism. 

4. These dudes I’m really not sure about, but I think maybe daisies. 

I’m not 100% sure they are. But I’m just going to say they are. 

Daisies represent innocence and purity. They can also represent new beginnings and are sometimes given to new mothers.  I think these are a good representation for JJ.

There’s a few other flowers and plants around the house that I don’t think I could ever identify. But if anyone has any ideas I’d love to hear it.

All the flowers have some kind of theme of healing, or love. Which I absolutely love.
