R.I.P. Michal Brunclík, one half of Czech trio BIRDS BUILD NESTS UNDERGROUND (BBNU), formed with Petr Ferenc (aka Phaerentz) in Prague in 2003, and later joined by film maker Martin Ježek, for sure one of the most innovative bands that ever came out from there! -- My Cat Is An Alien send eternal love for the amazing record made in collaboration with the two experimental turntablists, an album which stands as one of MCIAA's highlights -- Listen to "GRAMOFONU = Voice of the Universe" (LP, 2010, Opax / Love Nest, private press) on Bandcamp, Roberto Opalio made the cover painting and also provided the title, suggested by the astounding acetate that Michal, Petr and Martin dug up in the cellars of Czech Radio and which opens up the whole album: it's a never-released recording by Vítězslav Nezval (1900-1958), a Czech surrealist poet, a total genius and a prime mover of Czech avant-garde art before World War II, in contact with the French surrealists (Breton etc.) and leader of Czech surrealist group...
