Because he knew that early Milwaukeeans could not afford the necessary funds for the cathedral he envisioned for the city, Archbishop Martin J. Henni requested money from such far places as Mexico, Cuba, Belgium and Bavaria. The resulting church, known as St. John's cathedral, was designed in the federal style by Milwaukee architect Victor Schulte, and completed in 1853. The original building had its own tower, but it was removed in 1880 when it was found to be unsafe. For 12 years the Milwaukee landmark looked as pictured above. Then, in 1892, Milwaukee architects Ferry and Clas designed a new tower in the neo-baroque style. To assure that the new tower would match the original structure, brick from a razed house contemporary with the cathedral was used in its construction. Other major changes in St. John's were made as the result of a fire which in 1935, destroyed the church's interior, its hand carved altar and its stained glass windows. Dinslakener Schülerinnen und Schüler erleben innovative Technik von Steinhoff

InfoTruck der Metall- und Elektroindustrie macht in Dinslaken Halt / Unternehmerverband bietet Berufsfelderkundungen für Achtklässler Forschen, entwickeln und dabei der Konkurrenz eine Nasenspitze voraus sein – die Firma Steinhoff GmbH & Cie. OHG kooperiert mit Universitäten und Forschungsinstituten aus der Region: „Wir fühlen uns den Traditionen verpflichtet, blicken aber auch in die Zukunft“, lautet einer der Leitsätze des Herstellers von Kaltwalzen für die Stahl-, Aluminium- und NE-Metallindustrie. Steinhoff sucht Fachkräfte, die den eingeschlagenen Weg mitgehen. Dinslakener Schülerinnen und Schüler konnten sich heute von den Chancen bei Steinhoff und generell von den Perspektiven in technischen Berufen überzeugen: Der InfoTruck der Metall- und Elektroindustrie machte auf dem Firmengelände Halt. Achtklässler der Ernst-Barlach-Gesamtschule besuchten den InfoTruck und den Betrieb, kamen mit Azubis ins Gespräch und erhielten so wichtige Impulse für die spätere Berufswahl.

Setzen sich für technische Ausbildungsberufe ein (v.l.): Elisabeth Schulte vom Unternehmerverband, Katrin Schulz vom Truck-Team, Martin Jonetzko, stellvertretender Hauptgeschäftsführer des Unternehmerverbandes, Stefan Nohme, Leiter Personal, Musa Zengin, Ausbildungsleiter, Sarah Ostermeier, Personalsachbearbeitung / Projekte und Aziz Bozkurt, Auszubildender zum Zerspanungsmechaniker bei Steinhoff. Die Schülerinnen und Schüler hatten im InfoTruck die Möglichkeit, tüchtig mit anzupacken: Die Mädchen und Jungen steuerten Maschinen und fertigten Musterteile. Per 3D-Animationen konnten sie Produktionsprozesse live erleben. „Anfassen und Selbermachen – nur so bekommt man ein Gefühl für die Berufe“, so Martin Jonetzko, stellvertretender Hauptgeschäftsführer des Unternehmerverbandes. Die Arbeitgeberorganisation schickt den InfoTruck bzw. das Vorgängermodell seit über 30 Jahren auf Tour durch das Verbandsgebiet.  Im Anschluss an den Besuch im InfoTruck konnten die Jugendlichen den Steinhoff-Azubis alle Fragen rund um das Thema Ausbildung stellen und erfuhren so, worauf es ankommt und warum eine Ausbildung in der Branche sinnvoll ist und auch Spaß macht. Karosseriebleche für die Automobilhersteller, Weißbleche für die Dosenindustrie oder Alufolien für den Verpackungs- und Batteriesektor: „Es ist bei uns eine firmeninterne Redensart, dass mindestens einmal am Tag jeder mit einem Produkt in Berührung kommt, das mit den Walzen aus Dinslaken hergestellt worden ist““,so Stephan Nohme, Leiter Personal. Rund 2.800 Walzen werden bei Steinhoff jedes Jahr produziert, um dann auf die Reise zu gehen. Dass der Besuch im InfoTruck und bei Steinhoff das Interesse der Schülerinnen und Schüler geweckt hat, hofft auch Tanja Rambach, Berufswahlkoordinatorin an der Ernst-Barlach-Gesamtschule. Gerade der praxisnahe Einblick sei hilfreich. „Für uns ist es wichtig, den Schülerinnen und Schülern den Wert einer Ausbildung aufzuzeigen.“

Aziz Bozkurt, Auszubildender zum Zerspanungsmechaniker bei Steinhoff, bringt den Schülerinnen und Schülern im InfoTruck technische Berufe näher (Fotos: Unternehmerverband) Der InfoTruck hält auf zwei Etagen modernste Technik und zahlreiche Infos rund um Berufe in der Metall- und Elektroindustrie bereit. Beispielsweise bauen die Schülerinnen und Schüler mit Roboter Cobot ein Zahnradgetriebe zusammen und erleben so, wie Mensch und Roboter als Team funktionieren können. Außerdem können die Jugendlichen selbst eine CNC-Maschine programmieren und damit ein Werkstück fräsen. In der zweiten Fahrzeugebene ist Platz für tiefer gehenden Berufskundeunterricht am 1,5 Quadratmeter großen Multitouch-Table. Die Frage, warum der Unternehmerverband den InfoTruck seit über 30 Jahren einsetzt, beantwortet Elisabeth Schulte, unter anderem zuständig für den Bereich Schule/Wirtschaft: „Die Industrie bietet für junge Menschen – Mädchen und Jungen – echte Chancen, die aber oft zu wenig bekannt sind. Im InfoTruck und bei Steinhoff erleben die Jugendlichen die konkreten Möglichkeiten der Dualen Ausbildung, die Berufe und Tätigkeiten live. Sie sehen, wie interessant und wichtig die Arbeit ist, welche Perspektiven der Fortentwicklung sie haben, aber auch welche Herausforderungen es gibt. Das ist für jeden nachwachsenden Schüler-Jahrgang neu wichtig.“ Über den Unternehmerverband Die Unternehmerverbandsgruppe ist einer der größten Arbeitgeberverbände in Nordrhein-Westfalen. There's something about the sheer impossibility to Mighty that I love, the defiance they both have decided to stand by to stay together when, realistically, they were made for very different lives than the ones they've chosen by being together. And with Ren that's obvious because Ren is so deeply defensive of their relationship with Martin but people underestimate just how strong Martin is in all of this. It's harder for him, he's never had the freedom to the degree Ren has; so every point when Martin gets just a little closer to happiness on his own terms amazes Ren.

This song, yes, is a bit more mellow, which is definitely a Martin feel for me, but a lot of Ren too in the insistence that whatever other people think just doesn't matter.

Again the battle was finding one not already on the Tian playlist. But! My boys! My dear, messy boys! They've been through a lot, still have a lot to go through and this entire song just hits that note with me over just how much they've tackled some of their own demons trying to be there for each other. Tony is a fighter, the boy lives by his resolve and has more bravado than brains sometimes and you have to love him for it. But one of my favorite things about Tian is how there's that balance; they argue, they're stubborn, they have rough points but genuinely when it comes down to it they've both been fighting the whole time for each other against the curse, their own mistakes, and the bond between them.

Tony will jump into a fight with little hesitation but when it comes to Tony being backed into a corner or losing his resolve that things will change for the better Ian won't back down either; they're still pretty clumsy in life but they've figured out what's worth fighting for.

Granted, this is more of a relationship song but honestly it has that whole vibe that is always such an underlying pain with Tony and how time takes people away from him. He just survives and survives through it all and loses parts of himself every time, then just keeps trying to be a part of the world and build those bonds through it all. His resilience is amazing but it hurts me, endlessly, every year and every story of people who moved on without him. To a point we all experience that as we change, lose contact and our lives take different roads, so it's very relatable to me and one of the things about Tony that shows just how haunted he really is under the front he's learned to guard himself with.

There we go! It's a more Medes' at his best with Martin and how Mr. Fluffy Feathers tries to direct and help this disaster of a man song but! Still.
