Story Ideas (TW: long post incoming but there's poll at the end and every participant gets a sticker)

As was decided by about 100 people: here are some ideas I had for IFs (all in different degrees of "worked-out" and at the end, you can vote on which ones you find the most interesting.

The first one basically makes the MC a teacher at a prestigious high school (although they might make you do classes at the also very prestigious elementary school) and it involves planning lessons and dealing with usual teenage shenanigans. The ROs would be other teachers, the odd parent maybe, and perhaps someone from maintenance? Who knows... It's meant to be a cute slice-of-life thing because I eat that shit up.

For this one, I pretty much only wrote down "It was a beautiful day at court and you are a horrible jester". ROs would be Prince/Princess, maybe a foreign visitor with Oberyn Martell vibe.

The MC is part of a big mafia family but is mostly trying to live a somewhat normal life. Now, you are acquainted with the family business but you don't play an active part in it. But if someone was to mess with you, well, your family would do anything for you. This one is inspired by the song "Bust Your Kneecaps" by Pomplamoose.

Are you familiar with the novel "Krabat"? We've read it in school and I thought it was really cool, even though it is a little dark, to be honest. It's based on a cluster of Sorbian legends and follows the story of Krabat, a poor orphan boy becoming an apprentice at a mill, where the miller is also practicing and teaching black magic to his twelve apprentices and every year one boy dies in mysterious circumstances. The title I'd give this would probably be "Rapaki", which is Sorbian for ravens, which play a role in the story as well. It could prove to be a challenge to make this historical setting as inclusive as I want it to be (and also since there's a specific character I'd love to have as a RO, but he's an adult and the apprentices are pretty much all teenagers).

You were kidnapped by aliens. Now, it's been a couple of months since you arrived at the space station. They don't really seem to want to do anything with you except study humans and you happen to be one of the subjects. You are given spacious living quarters, activities for enrichment, food (they sometimes test things by giving you weird stuff and see if you eat it or not) and even many opportunities for socialization with the other human subjects. Honestly, it's not bad. Beats scrambling for money to pay rent. The newest addition to the human sample group though seems to be very discontent with their new abode. Are you helping them to escape, are you just tagging along for the ride, or are determined to stay in your cozy lab?

You are perfect nobility. Your family is hosting a ball to which all the most important members of the ton are invited. There's good food and drink, entertainment and music. You socialize and dance. You even go for a secret midnight swim in the deep fountain in the gardens. Many days are like this and you enjoy it. But one day something very peculiar happens: The ball is in full swing when you notice a person in very strange clothes just striding through the dance hall, never acknowledging the guest or the music but looking at a strange... device in their hands. When they aim to go upstairs towards your private living spaces you decide to follow them but they simply disappear. Were they a ghost? Are you hallucinating? For several days you see more strange figures, some of them in strange clothing, some of them in garments from the past. They never seem as ... corporal as the first one and at this point you fear you have lost your mind. Then the first intruder comes back and you can confront them. They seem awfully aghast when you politely ask them to leave.

Turns out, you are a ghost, reliving the last day of your life, and they are a ghost hunter from the future. The whole manor as you know it seems to crumble, polished floors become broken wood, the furniture disappears and the big chandelier lies demolished on the ground. You learn that the other figures are ghosts, like yourself, former inhabitants of the manor before and after you. And you meet them. They are as flabbergasted by this revelation as you were. The ghost hunter explains that they've been chasing a haunting spirit for some time now and they actually weren't intending to call forward you or the others. Do you all help them catch the evil ghost?

I saw an ask about Beskar Doll and remembered something: I read all of your fics (duh, they're impeccable), while I was on Beskar Doll and Lavender at the same time I thought "they find each other in every universe". For months now I've been cherishing that Beskar Doll and Lavender are parallel universes, where Joel/Din find their surrogate child and, at some point, the love of their life comes through. It is a funny little thought, but it makes some sense in my head especially after [BIG SPOILER FOR BOTH FICS] Doll and Doc have babies by the end. I don't think it was your intention to write it like that, both shows have some similarities already but are also widely different, I was just reading them at the same time + had a rerun of The OA lol. My question is, if you had to write another PP's character to enter the parallel universe theory where he finds reader in every universe, shape or form, who would it be and why? Love u

OMG Hi Bestie!!

I love that you feel that way about these characters because I do, too. I'm not going to have every fic I write end with reader having a baby because I don't think that's a happy ending for everyone (like Yearling, for example, has established that Bambi is infertile and she's not just perfectly fine with that, she's pretty damn happy about it given everything) but I feel like Din and Doll and Joel and Doc needed their babies. I think for Din it was like truly solidifying his bond with Doll as a clan, they're going to raise their warriors together (and give Grogu siblings who will look after him when they're gone because tbh that's how I see that story going. When Din and Doll are old and gray, they retire on Naboo and Aidla and Grogu work on their force abilities together and travel the galaxy.) Joel and Doc's story I think always had their baby existing in some way. In the AU it's Evie, in the OG it's Sylvie. Their baby was just always meant to come along eventually, regardless of the timeline, their family just wasn't whole without her.

But to answer your question? Oberyn. Oberyn Martell would fully find reader in every universe, that man is so driven by love and passion the second he had even an inkling love like that existed, he'd search it out. Oberyn Oberyn Oberyn my first Pedro love. Gosh, I adore him, truly. I have a fic idea in mind for him (it's a mafia AU and I kind of love it even though it's super trope-y) and I need to write it at some point. Because OMG Oberyn.

Still thinking bout fashion of “Slam fam” ’s members

“Slam fam” or full name “The Slam family“ , named by Marty. It’s the name of temporary group of wrestlers whose have feud with mafia in Canada(Montreal)& Mr.Hunter& Jules(hunter’a right-hand man) and his another mafia henchmen(bodyguards and hitman). Actually there has more member than this but they’re in another wrestling company(not in WWF together), such as Gino Brito (the real big bro)/ Jimmy Garvin/ Frenchy Martin(whose retired and give Jimmy Hart to be Dino’s manager instead)

Most of them are French-Canadian wrestlers, but some of them aren’t, but still have relate as friends in wrestling career and also has feud with mafia industry (by chance) too

🔸Mike has never wrestle in Canada(or has ever, but in very short time) he doesn’t close with wrestlers in Montreal that much. But he has ever had a few matches with Ronnie and Jimmy at NWA before (in Varsity club role). Adjusting the cufflink on her blazer, Arianne settles into her seat — the Sun Throne, the seat of the head of the family — and crosses her legs. It's her first official appearance as Princess since her father's retirement and she not only looks but feels the part. Especially with her consort, Viserys Targaryen, at her side.

She watches with amusement as her captive is dragged before her. Her cousins have certainly had their fun with him, she notes, admiring the gaping wound in his cheek where Obara shot him.

"I see we've finally shut you up," she says wryly. Then, she turns to Viserys. "I used to shove my pussy in his mouth to keep him quiet."

"I told you no good comes of fucking a man who nicknames himself," Viserys reminds her before snorting "Darkstar" under his breath.

He's underselling it. Back when they believed they were BFFs and nothing more, Viserys laughed his ass off when she'd told him about Gerold.

Had the thrill of disobeying her father been worth letting this dreadful poser touch her? What a nitwit she'd been before she knew better.

Arianne turns back to the man in question. "As your Princess, I have carte blanche to do with you as I please." She can think of some creative ways to punish a man who'd had the privilege of her body and in turn, tried to overthrow her family. "But Martell-Dayne ties run too deep to ignore your family's customs." She takes Viserys' hand. "Luckily we like to watch."

Arthur Dayne emerges from the shadows, his pale pistol gleaming at this side. It's hard to miss how much... man he is. Big and broad-shouldered, with the rock-hard jawline shared by all the Dayne men, even Gerold. But where his cousin's tried too hard his entire life, Arthur is naturally authoritative, even in his silence.

"Magnificent, isn't he?" Viserys whispers, nodding toward his older brother's right-hand man. "If you're good, you can think of his hands around your throat when I fuck you later."

That was exactly what she imagined watching Arthur's large, veiny hand grip his gun.

"Cousin," Arthur says tersely, raising his gun to Gerold's forehead.

So, straight to work then, Arianne thinks. How dull. She wanted to watch him suffer.

Even with death imminent, his eyes are locked on his family's ancestral weapon: the legendary Dawn passed through generations of Dayne men to the worthiest of soldiers. To add insult to injury for Gerold, Arianne hears that Ashara's daughter is next in line when she comes of age.

She'll have to talk to the Sand Snakes about thoroughly training the girl. She wants the first female wielder of Dawn in her inner circle.

"For betraying our family's oath to the Martells, in the name of House Dayne, I name you, Gerold Dayne of High Hermitage, 'oathbreaker.'" Arthur cocks Dawn with a click that echoes through the throne room. "Make your peace with the gods."

Very intense nightmares he will not be seeking help for and will of course be suffering in silence because weakness is what got him in his predicament in the first place.

there is another intense desire to rip things apart with his mouth, so he alleviates this by doing just that  -  with bags, letters, things you would just rip with your hands he will use his teeth. You know people who try to open a plastic container? That’s him.

He makes the best of a bad situation. Wolf mentality craves the presence of family and friends, but as his whole family thinks he’s dead he’s wandering all alone in the world.... Since she burst onto our screens ten years ago as Downton Abbey’s Lady Mary, all cut-glass vowels and nerves of steel, Michelle Dockery’s kept us in a permanent state of emotional whiplash with the sheer variety of roles she’s taken on.

She was a drug-addicted con artist in the 2016 TV series Good Behavior, a gun-totin’ cowgirl in the acclaimed 2017 drama Godless, and a Cockney gangster’s moll in Guy Ritchie’s crime caper The Gentlemen.

One thing you will not see, she insists, is Michelle Dockery playing a piece of arm candy.

‘I like to play strong women,’ she says when we meet for coffee pre-lockdown in New England, where she’s been shooting her new TV mini-series Defending Jacob.

‘And even if they’re not strong, they have to be interesting. Multi-faceted, complex, complicated, three-dimensional... and flawed too, because people are. Anything but boring!’

That doesn’t mean they can’t be sexy though, and she says the added bonus to playing these characters is that, at 38, she’s finding herself feeling sexier than ever.

‘Sexy is not about having anyone else make you feel sexy, it’s about how you feel inside, and I have certainly felt sexier as I’ve got older.

But I think that’s a confidence thing too. I’ve been lucky enough to play such strong, confident women, and when you do that you definitely take something from them with you into your real life – you sort of get inspiration from them.’

Her latest character in the thriller Defending Jacob is a straightforwardly good woman – although one thrust into bewildering circumstances.

Laurie Barber is happily married to handsome local Assistant District Attorney Andy Barber (Captain America film star Chris Evans), and mother to her wise-cracking 14-year-old son Jacob (Jaeden Martell).

She’s the sort of woman who goes for a run before breakfast, then quizzes her son on vocabulary over coffee before heading to her high-profile job managing a home for abused children.

She’s just so together... until her son is accused of one of the most hideous crimes imaginable – the cold-blooded murder of a classmate – and her entire life and social circle begin to unravel as the police investigate.

‘It’s a really gripping story, because it’s so difficult for this couple to comprehend that their child might commit any sort of crime, let alone a murder,’ says Michelle of the story, based on the 2012 novel by William Landay.

‘They’re both defending their son, and like any parent would, Laurie’s asking at the same time, “Where did I go wrong?”

'There’s conflict between Laurie and Andy because at the start of the story she’s the emotional one and he’s the calm one, but then as the story goes on there’s a need for Andy to be emotional too.

'So they’re always seeing things from a slightly different perspective.

‘It’s a very human, raw story about what something like this can do to a family, and what’s so interesting about Laurie is that as her life is turned completely upside down, she also begins to question things about her family – “How well do you really know your partner? How well do you really know your child?”’

Michelle’s own family background is modest but as stable as anyone could wish for. The youngest of three girls born to Irish-born lorry driver turned surveyor Michael Dockery and his redoubtable wife Lorraine, a former shorthand typist turned social worker, she was brought up in Romford, Essex, working class and proud of it.

‘My mum is loving but she’s also strict,’ says Michelle. ‘When I was about seven I stole some penny sweets from a shop. Mum caught me and made me go back and apologise to the shopkeeper, and I’ve never stolen anything since!’

She was also raised – as were her sisters Louise and Joanne – to speak up for what was right.

‘I was brought up to stand up for myself. To speak up when I felt passionate about something, when I felt the need to make my voice heard about something that mattered.

'I think a lot of that comes from having sisters, because we’ve always supported each other all along.

'If I’ve ever felt bullied or pushed into a corner, I’ve always been able to stand up for myself. And if I see it happening to someone else, especially younger actresses, I’ll stand up for them too.

‘I hate bullying. I have huge admiration for women in Hollywood and elsewhere who have come forward to tell their stories about that, and have stood up against people like Harvey Weinstein.

'It’s horrendous what they experienced and I’m glad something has been done about it.’

It’s safe to say no one has succeeded in taking advantage of Michelle, and she says now that when she first broached the idea of going into acting to her parents they were not in the least bit concerned.

‘They weren’t alarmed by it at all!’ she laughs. ‘They made sure I had a good education so I had something to fall back on.

'Both my parents are wonderful. My mum is the most incredible woman, she inspires me.

'And my dad’s amazing too – even though he spent our growing-up years with a bathroom that was never free! They let me be who I want to be.

'So between them and my two elder sisters, who are still my best friends, I’m very lucky. We call ourselves the Essex Mafia!’

Her career choice can hardly have come as a surprise to the family, as she says she wanted to be an actor ever since she can remember.

When she and her sisters were small they attended a stage school in the evening, and they would put on plays at home to entertain the family.

Michelle apprenticed at the National Youth Theatre when she was a teenager, and as soon as she’d taken her A-levels she enrolled at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

‘I feel I learned more at drama school than I did anywhere else,’ she says. ‘Even when I was at regular school I was never out of the drama department, so I didn’t do very well in other subjects.

'I just didn’t want to be taught anything else. But there’s a huge amount you learn in drama school besides acting, like history and literature, and that was where I came into my own.’

It was, of course, Lady Mary who made Michelle famous. ‘It happened overnight,’ she says.

‘Well, I’d been working in the theatre for seven years, so it wasn’t really overnight, but I remember after the first episode of Downton Abbey aired, walking into my newsagent’s where I was living and seeing a picture of myself, Laura Carmichael and Jessica Brown-Findlay, the three Crawley sisters, on the cover of three papers and that was huge.

'Then the first time I was recognised on the street was in New York, and that was even bigger because that’s when it hit me how big the show had become if I was being recognised in America.’

With talk of another feature film in the works after last year’s hit Downton movie, she says playing Mary is as comfortable as slipping into a second skin.

‘I have huge fondness for her, she’s been a big part of my life. That was a very special show, and I hope it’s one that stays with people forever.’

It was through Downton that she met the man she thought she’d be married to now.

In 2013, her co-star Allen Leech, who played chauffeur Branson, introduced her to Irish-born public relations executive John Dineen.

She and John fell in love, became engaged and were in the process of planning their wedding when John was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He died in December 2015 with Michelle by his side.

At his funeral, the day after her 34th birthday and a day before what would have been his 35th, she told mourners, ‘He was my friend, my hero, my king, my everything.

'We celebrate him, we honour him, and we will miss him.’ She has not spoken out about her grief, but has admitted that it was her friends and family who helped her pull through, saying, ‘They are the ones who see you through the most difficult times.’

She has been dating Jasper Waller-Bridge, brother of Fleabag’s Phoebe, for a year now.

They met through friends and Jasper, who is six years Michelle’s junior and the creative director at a talent agency, accompanied her to red-carpet events before lockdown.

It was also reported that she bought a £1.7 million house in north-east London before Christmas.

Michelle hasn’t commented on the relationship but she does say that a sense of humour – surely a given with any member of the Waller-Bridge family – is vital in a relationship.

‘My parents always taught me to see the funny side of life and never to take myself too seriously.

'I find that more and more as I get older – I’m finding ways to laugh things off much more than I used to be able to.’

Right now, Michelle Dockery would seem to have plenty to smile about.

AHHH MY OBERYN FIC IDEA!

So all the grains of salt because I haven't fully plotted this yet, all I have is a general concept BUT here's the gist

Oberyn is one of the brothers of a major mafia family who has beef with the Lannisters, another mafia family after the death of his sister. These rival families are clearly working their way towards an all out war so Oberyn's father and Tywin broker a deal to marry Oberyn to a cousin of the Lannisters. The idea being the family tie will tamp down the conflict, etc.

But reader, the Lannister cousin, isn't any happier with this idea than Oberyn is. She's miserable in her family and might hate her cousins and brothers even more than Oberyn does. What starts as bitter hatred and distrust shifts toward reluctant partnership and, eventually (of course) love as the two team up to make the Martells the most powerful criminal empire in the region.

KEY MOMENTS I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO WRITING: Oberyn realizing that the pretty, sheltered Lannister cousin has a LOT more going on than he realized; reader realizing that no, Oberyn isn't going to murder her on their wedding night to get revenge for his sister because he's an honorable man, he's just going to make her come until her eyes fall out because dammit if they have to consummate the marriage he's damn well going to do it right; when a brother from a rival family says something remotely bad about reader and Oberyn has a "She is my WIFE and you will treat her with the respect she is due!" moment.

It's going to be an emotional slow burn but there will be more fucking in this than a lot of my fics have, I think? Because they will consummate the marriage on their wedding night and it's GOOD. Like it's REALLY GOOD. And Oberyn - because he's an honorable man - is like "I'm not going to cheat on my wife, even if she's my wife in name only" and so there's going to be some hate fucking in there. I can't wait, honestly lol it'll be fun.

I'm not entirely sure when I'm going to write this? It's in the mix for things I start relatively soon (I have Javi P., this, knight!Din Djarin and a bodyguard!Joel fic that are toward the top of the list atm) but it's on the way ❤️

Africa24 - 2021/2024 - Reading Challenge

Znając siebie i własne możliwości postanowiłam około miesiąc temu zacząć moje małe wyzwanie. W 2021 roku przeczytam 24 książki napisane przez pisarzy pochodzących z najróżniejszych krajów na kontynecie Afrykańskim. Do wyboru jest wiele, choć czasem ciężko znaleźć pozycje, które mogą mnie zainteresować.

Niestety wiele z tych książek porusza ciężkie tematy - życie w Afryce nigdy nie było najłatwiejsze - od czasu do czasu zrobię sobie przerwę. To, co przeczytam pomiędzy, również wpiszę na tą listę zaznaczając, że to przerywniki. Dzięki temu pod koniec roku łatwiej zobaczę, ile udało mi się przeczytać podczas panoszącego się C-19. Pozycje czytam po angielsku, włosku i polsku - pozostawię tytuły w języku oryginalnym lub takim, w którym przebrnęłam przez powieść. W nawiasie podam kraj pochodzenia autora.

This will just hint at things since I don’t want to spoil the story too much. But if I were to explain it, this series is basically what resulted when I thought: 1) hmm I do enjoy a good soulmates au and 2) hmm I like a good reincarnation au. So I got ambitious and now I am over 12k words deep into this story.

Originally this was meant to be a story that spanned seven lifetimes. Then I realized after several attempts that the modern AU as the main lifetime just wasn’t writing itself the way I wanted it to. So I picked the sixth lifetime to be the main story - where Y/N is the singer in a speakeasy during Prohibition and Sugawara is the mafia head in charge of the place. There was just something about that time period that spoke to me in terms of ambiance, and I found the story just so much more interesting to write! I love my AUs, I really do.

Hopefully the later chapters have made things more clear, but the chapters are intermingled between the current and previous lifetimes. I wanted to write the story so that the clues gradually fall into place as you read on, and the picture becomes more and more detailed. I won’t go into any more detail here for the sake of preserving what mystery is left, but I am very excited about the ending to come. I also fell in love with Sui and the cast of characters that inhabit The Studio while writing this, and I think that’s one of the greatest joys when writing.

To be honest, I’m still not sure if my ending will be regarded as happy, sad, or bittersweet. I might consider writing two endings, but for now, I hope whoever reads the story will enjoy Y/N and Sui’s journey. Everyone in the Martel family is quite dear to me now - I wish I had more time to delve more deeply into their characters. But my goal from the beginning has been to finish Y/N and Sui’s story first, and I really want to keep that promise to myself.

BTW: I might not get to say this later, so I’ll add a little explanation here about the soulmates concept that I used in my story. People are born with soulmarks on their skin. These weren’t recognized or called such in the beginning - as you can tell in the earlier timelines, the characters don’t really know what the marks mean. For the sake of this story, these soulmarks are generally in a romantic context. As time went on, civilization began to stick labels and meanings to the marks (as society does). Upon contact with one’s “partner,” one’s soulmark will change color. The “default” is black, but the color the marks change to will match. Important to note that the shapes usually do not match; the mark appearance is typically unique to its host. The soulmark may remain or turn black if the soulmate passes away.

Sugawara and Y/N are a unique case, as their marks are identical in shape, location, and color. This extends across the various lifetimes, suggesting that their bond is beyond ordinary. (This will be explored in future ;) hohoho)

Anyway, I love Sui and Y/N’s story (fraught as it is with sad stories and some misunderstandings) and I’m excited to continue sharing it with you. Thank you for being so sweet and supportive, it means a lot to me.
